~ History of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji~

Recommended Posts

Is Miri equal to Piri?

Are the 2 nishan sahibs at Akaal Takht equal?

Is the Servant equal to the Master....?

Sri Dasam Granth Sahib was created for the raksha of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

When parkaash of both the granths is done as per puratan traditions and still, amongst Dal Panth today, Sri Dasam Granth Sahib is always on a slighty lower platform.

If parkaash cannot be done together, then why read the banian of both granths together in amrit sanchaar and every morning and evening, why sing the banian of both granths together...

The distinction between the sansaari/secular/rajniti and the atmik has always been clear in Sikhi, a good example is the beautiful Darbaario Rvaaj explained by Guru Gobind Singhs Dhadi Nath Mal - that the Dhadis 'always' do their seva 'after' the Rababis, never before...

So basically you don't agree with the Akal Takhat edict?

I think what the Hukamnama states is that their parkash cannot be done on the same level, it doesnt say that you cannot have both parkashed at a same place , so i understand that Guru Granth Sahib ji always has to be on a higher level.

I think the edict is well conceived and should put to rest those who feared or claimed (for whatever reason) that there is an attempt to canonise the Dasam Granth to the same level as Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Should that not be the end of that discussion at least?

Dasam Granth sahib was not put at same level as SGGS ji. But those who think it is not canonised scripture are not aware of sikh history and traditions.

Because of its diffcult language Dasam Granth had become a neglected Granth. That gave some stupid ideas to its detractors to cast doubts on

its authorship.

That is why it is taking its deserved place of importance. How will sikhs read it if it is not in parkash. Of course there is no ban on its parkash. Only it

should not be done at same level. It is Granth of our tenth master. Heavens are not going to fall if it is in parkash.

Just found this written on the Budhadal website:

"Guru Gobind compiled anthology of his own, The Dasam Granth. The Dasam Granth is a compilation of tales of Valour of Hindu goddesses, some composed by the Guru himself, others by bards of his court"
