How tough those Sikhs were. For a game they died and let their skin ripped apart from soles

Waheguru Ji

It also shows how Sikhs will fight and complete for useless games/tamasha but not for what really matters and what's going to help Sikhs in the long run. Waheguru Waheguru

I was saying on another forum, to all those Sikhs who promote the apnay that fought under british colonialism in europe, it's a shame they don't realise that these 'Sikh soldiers' should have been more focused on protecting their own community and keeping abreast of developments in Panjab instead of fighting in far off lands for feringhee causes- if so, we might not have had the biggest genocide our people have ever faced (estimated at about half a million) and the mass rapes and kidnappings that followed at partition.

We can never let that off-point mentality become dominant in our panth again.

Also, please don't forget the famines during the British times, which killed tens of millions of innocent people in British India.

Do they teach you about those Famines in British India in your schools?

Bhul chuk maaf

Not when I was at school (a while ago). Plus remember, some of those responsible for the famines (i.e. Churchill) are considered national heroes by many (most?)

And have all this been systematically studied by apney political theorists on why and how it happened? And what steps are needed to make sure it doesn't happen again?

and keeping abreast of developments in Panjab instead of fighting in far off lands for feringhee causes-

But isnt that happening today with apney going all over the world and helping develop other countries and their economies at the expense of our own?

It might keep on happening over and over again to us  because there is a famous quote

"Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"

If we take four disastrous events in history like
Vadda Ghallughara
Chhota Ghallughara
Colonialism
Partition

How many books have been published on these events in the last 50 years?  Wheather academic or from sampradee? Not much! You think by now there would be volume after volume of serious academic works people all around the world would refer to and teach in universities and include in world history but hardly anyone knows about these events.

You know who has done the writing of these events the most it's the western scholars who are writing from their own perspective and using their own theories and framework on us.

Pretty much their writing our own history according to them.

Our opposition has done more research then us.
Even most of the books you have quoted from on the colonial period is written by western scholars. Why do you think our Sampradees and scholars have not written on these topics and made it part of academic and sampradee
education?

Every year there should be a new book on these events with new research to keep the memory alive.

Have all this been documented and studied by apney scholars or do we have to rely on western scholars?  And do you know any books about this in punjabi or you got the information from western sources?

Do they even teach this in India where all this took place?
