I cannot find the link I read this on, but it was not actually in Alabama. It was Selma, Fresno (California).
This was misreported apparently initially as Alabama
Fresno has a high percentage Sikh population apparently
And it looks like maybe more to do with carjacking than hate, although could be combination. Sikhs are probably known as a wealthy community there too

There are not many descendants like Baba Vickram Aditya Bedi, his lineage is real, part of this that this branch had the benefit of Baba Shib Dayal Bedi who owned most of Saharanpur. Even today, an entire area of Saharanpur is called Ahata Baba Shib Dayal Bedi, the Bedi Compound is there, and the land under ITC is being returned to them. Two of the largest Gurudwaras in Saharanpur were built by them. Even the railroad station was built by them. He faced severe racism in the U.S. hopefully he moves to India.

    Wjkk wjkf
Just wanted to share some of my experiences/issues I have faced on my journey on this path. Maybe others have faced similar, maybe this can help others or responses may help me.
Judging others - this has been a big weakness of mine. Not so much friends but more family, especially those who also do sangat. Even though I was taught from day one not to look left or right and just focus on myself, I got caught up in exactly that. Maybe due to family issues, I would start to judge people on what they were doing. I couldnt understand how someone could gain spiritual gifts despite doing some of the stuff they were doing. I would then compare that with myself and think ‘Im better than that person yet they appear more advanced on their journey’ This is a big weakness of mine and something I have and still am working very hard to overcome.
Teacher - In the past, way before I started this journey, I lacked some self confidence. My relationship with my folks was tricky, a lot of give and take. I grew up feeling that I probably didnt get the love i wanted so when anyone else showed me affection, I doubted their intentions and thought they had an ulterior motive. Whilst I dont think my teacher has a motive, Ive often felt that he doesnt like me. No real reason for this but its an old problem and has stretched to various important people in my life. I know this isnt true of him as a Gurmukh has no hate for anyone but just another example of how our mind can go wild with thoughts.
Waheguru - same as above. Believe it or not there have been many times when I have though Waheguru also does not like me. Especially when as above others mention their experiences and I then get down myself. I think I’m trying so hard yet I’m not progressing as fast as I want. I also know that they key is to enjoy the journey. Put in the effort and leave the rest to Waheguru. He isnt unfair and is always watching and listening.
These are just some of the issues I have faced, may add more when I can think of them. Anyone else feel free to add tour own experiences.

Hopefully I will be able to look back at this one day and smile because I have come out the other end.
    Wjkk Wjkf.

84? I don't think the Panth learned anything from 1849 onwards.

    Where?

Glad that you have brought it up. Let's talk about how the original custodians of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the Buddha Dal., allowed the barring of low-caste Sikhs from Darbar Sahib, and did nothing for years until the Singh Sabha forced them out. If Buddha Dal with all its shastars could let this happen, what chance to mere mortals have?

As bitter as it sounds, we have to accept the sakhi of Bhai Ghaneya and the fact that Guru Sahib praised him for it. Giving langar (and charity) is done blindly. I don't know how to change that but I would welcome any ideas.

Sikhs are seeing a genocide again, but it will not be an overt one, at least not yet. India has no need to commit an overt one, they are more focused on covert genocides. The current genocide against Sikhs is coming from an infestation of rashtra lovers, who in their thousands and thousands are infestating online media platforms with all sorts of nonsense directed at Sikhs and Muslims.

Has the panth learned anything from the 84 era? I don't think so. Again and again we have proved that we are sheep non amerdhatri mone Sikhs take over our gurdwaras. Our women admin cut around with sulleh our men are too busy shaveing our beards and trying samosa paggs. We protest our on the streets for justice and referendums, but we fail to keep shaster because we find the kirpan too heavy and guns are a dangerous tool that's Sikhs shouldn't keep right??? So let's settle with a dull stainless steel piece of shit and put that on our waist. We talk bad about Dasam bani, we let Hindus do and karaj our gurdwaras committees are rampant with corruption. Have we learn anything about sikhi? Other than giving langer to bastereds who stab us in the back. Another genocide will probably come and again we will suffer only those who keep shaster and understand the gurus bachan will make it out alive.

    Jagtar Singh Johal
    Extra Bio Info:
Jagtar Singh Johal is detained for his religious belief and for documenting religious freedom violations.
On November 4, 2017, 15 unidentified men in Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, Punjab, abducted Johal after his wedding in Jalandhar. The following day, Johal appeared a duty magistrate in Bagha Purana where no formal charges were filed against him. Authorities later released a press statement that Johal was among other suspects accused of “being involved in a series of killings carried out in collaboration with Pakistani intelligence operatives as part of a conspiracy to fan communal disturbances and destabilize the State.” Prior to his arrest, Johal, a British citizen, was an online activist and contributed to a website that documented human rights violations and persecution of Sikhs in India.
Between November 4, 2017, to November 7, 2017, police interrogated and tortured Johal by using electric shocks, forcing his limbs into painful positions, and depriving him of sleep. Authorities have reportedly failed to investigate Johal’s allegations of torture.
Between November 4, 2017, to November 14, 2017, Johal was held incommunicado and denied adequate legal counsel.
On December 6, 2017, police from Ludhiana arrested Johal for allegedly killing a member of a far-right Hindu political party in January 2017.
On December 7, 2017, local news organizations aired video footage of Johal’s alleged confession, despite no references being made in the video to the crimes he was charged with.
On or around December 11, 2017, Khanna police arrested Johal for allegedly killing a Hindu leader in April 2016.
In May 2019, Punjab police and the National Investigative Agency filed charges against Johal in 10 cases related to “crimes of conspiracy and funding and recruiting for terrorist activities related to attacks on members of right-wing Hindu nationalist political groups and religious leaders in Punjab allegedly by the Khalistan Liberation Force.” Johal was charged with conspiracy (Sec. 120B IPC), murder (Sec. 302 IPC), terrorist acts (Sec. 16 UAPA), using arms (Sec. 27 Arms Act), and more. Charges against Johal are reportedly based primarily on confessions he made obtained under torture.
On January 7, 2021, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police arrested Johal in another case accusing him of being involved in the murder of another individual in October 2020, despite Johal being in Tihar Jail.
Between January 9, 2021, and January 16, 2021, Johal was held incommunicado.
In May 2022, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention declared Johal’s detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release.  In their opinion, the Working Group stated that it believes Johal was targeted “because of his activities as a Sikh practitioner and supporter and because of his activism in writing public posts calling for accountability for alleged actions committed against Sikhs by the authorities.” It added that Johal was “deprived of his liberty on discriminatory grounds, owing to his status as a human rights defender and based on his political activism, religious faith and opinions.”
Johal is currently being held in Tihar Jail.
