Chatanga, Guru Sahib started the manji system. The title given to the manjidars was Masand. The masand's stayed good and clean for a while...then they went corrupt. Guru Gobind Singh ji set things straight, and those who were still true to the 'spirit' of being masands (ie. sangat sahib ji...sachi dhari?)....were given blessings and allowed to continue. On the same note, just because a group of people calling themselves udasi's are acting in discord to the true spirit of udasi's does not necessarily make those people 'true udasi's'. What is being discussed above (from my understanding) is an unadulterated form of learning as practiced by sincere udasi's.

I don't know which religion you guys are following, but the last time I checked the normative practices exemplified by sikhs have nothing to do with either mukti or atma....you gotta admit though that the demonstration against baba billybob singh was chardikallah!

Hello Everyone, I have been part of this forum since april 2003 and to be honest this is the worst state that I've seen it in. I came here because there was a perspective that was being shared. Now all I see is Iran stuff...which I really don't care about. Its great to see a shia link, but I have been reading the books that Javanmard has suggested for people to read and now drilling in those same points over and over again is useless. It is like listening to people at the gurdwara tell everyone to amrit shak over and over again.... To be honest, this stuff is getting old. I'm getting sick of it. Actually, I am very offended that these missionaries are discriminating against all the other jaats.....I think they've heard 'put jattan de' once too many times....either that or waheguru wants christianity to be ruined too (I know some on this forum are getting too excited on this point). okay since everyone thought I was being a 'twat'...I quoted this shabad from gurbani to give reference to bhai sangat sahib (If I have his name correct) the udasi mahant who grabbed his own dhari and stayed in bhaana and was excused by guru gobind singh who actually gave him a thaapi and looked at teh sevadars like 'why'd you bring him'......he remained the mahant of the dera and I see it as a blessing

I believe this is much deeper and more real than anything that has been expressed. Those who have quaffed the taste know, and I believe it is very personal to one's own spiritual condition as well....There are many terms out there we need to define before engaging deeper. A point I'd like to re-iterate, when a buddhist understands sikhi, they will understand sikhi from the eyes of a buddhist, this applies to both vedantists and muslims (those of sunni and shia persuasions, christians etc.....the point here is if terms like (naam, satguru, gur) are in vogue...what is the actual context and definition for a sikh, and if there isnt a definition...logically, shouldn't we get to the etymology of these words to find the most authentic explanation?.........If it is experience we are discussing then it really can't be expressed unless someone has devised a methodology, and if it is metaphorical....well that has its drawbacks as well. He was never really sikh-sikh by most people's standards. His family were keshdari but they chose to support the arya samaaj over the singh sabha. He definitely was athiest. I think the effect of bhai randhir singh has been blown out of proportion a bit. Bhagat singh was able to mobilize and empower people......kind of big don't you think?
