Its the same everywhere, esp here in UK. ie Membership of gurudwaras etc. I remember a few years back I was refused by the attendents to park my car at the Ramgarhia Temple in the Jewellry Qtr of Birmingham unless I was a member of the Gurudwara. They rent out spaces during the week to local businesses and make a killing in profits. (why cant I start such a business??). Maybe it was just my wrong caste??!! Apparently being a Sikh with a gatra, kesh etc is not enough these days. Oh well ....of to start my new temple business....anyone want to invest?? LOL
  2. Too right N30 Singh, with your last comment. Amazing how so many intelligent people cannot comprehend and jump to conclusions at first glance. No more "khoj" anymore.
  3. Found this link from another forum. 1. Amazing qwaali singing from Nusrat FAteh Ali Khan.......probs the one of best performance I have ever seen. 2. Just take a look at the two Singhs, they are one a completely different level!
  4. Any chance someone can upload or provide a link for this shabad??? Ta muchly
  5. If the the Jathedar of AT is subservient to the SGPC and on their payroll; furthermore, if the SGPC was created by Act of Law(?) by the British Indian Govt, therefore an Indian Quango. Does that not mean that the Jathedar of Akal Takat is technically an employee of the State/National Government?? What ever the structure may be it does seem that in reality the Jathedar's position is quite defunct and the real 'leader' of the Sikhs is the Badal clan and his political cronies.
  6. If you ask Baba Ji they will give you the ingrediants for making 'havan'(no anti-hindu remarks, please!) dhoop. And the procedure for doing a 'havan yag'. The ingrediants he gives can quite easily be bought from places like Soho Road and Smethwick. I remember when we made it many years back. Most of the stuff are actually just herbs and spices! There are no set ingrediants. At Sultanpur , they only use several base ingrediants, whereas we bought tons of different items.
  7. Jai Rimpoche Nanak Lama Chi and Prana are said to be the same concept. One from India and the other from China. Is the a difference in the way it is cultivated using different methods in both cultures ? ie. yoga, chi kung etc. Is there a different reason to work on this energy given by Chinese and Indian masters?

Why is there a need to burn your hair , as opposed to just binning it?
  9. ....Ahh someone familiar with Wilde! Not that I was bragging about my level of wit. Understood, i will try not to make similar remarks in the future.
  10. 1. LOL ...the lack of awareness of 'sarcasm'! Peeps we are adults here with some intelligence (possibly). I know it a written forum, but at least know when a post is written in jest. Don't go getting your kacheras in a twist! 2. The panth isn't in a mess because of people who can laugh at themselves. That dubious honour goes to those who take every thing toooo seriously, which in turn leads to fundamentalist attitudes that we have seen growing over the years. Who is this Guru that you follow that gets undermined by my assertions on the 'net? 3. I would advice you guys to take a chill pill and not take offence at every little thing that is written on here. I am sure your Sikhi is not that weak that every thing offends you. What I was not expecting was a Wahabbist attitude that you need to defend your God and your beliefs . If you can't take my opinons here what will you do when Behezti 2 comes to a theatre near you or a Sikh version of 'Love Guru'? Any ways, soz boz if I hurt your sentiments.
  11. I believe JATTS are the superior race in India. The whole Khalsa Panth rests on a Jatts shoulders , hence the reason they are so strong. Even Shiva Ji had the courtesy to raise Jatts above himself ie. His jatt'n hair! God's hukum was that after the masands failed to look after the gurudwaras he has to give the responsibility to a group of people who will rise to the challenge and resist the temptation for putting their hands into the golak; as a result he willed that Jatts should dominate the SGPC. Jai , Jai SuperJatts!! PS: Almost all critism of Jatts are by all other lower castes who due to their lack of good karam were not born as Jatts.
  12. Jai Hind What is the reason behind some nihangs wearing huuuumongouuuuuus dumallas? From what I can see it is nothing but a hindereance to ones daily duties. eg I suppose they cant bow down, they are slowed down because of the weight and no way can they reach half the weapons placed in their turbans!
  13. Baba Ji once said that there are 24 different meanings for the word RAHAO in the GGS. Could you find out what some of these meanings are? Also there is a granth out written by a Nirmala Pandit that gives over 500 definitions of the word WAHEGURU. Could you find out the title and author of this piece of work? Thenking ju bery thee much in de adbance!
  14. Fateh Darshan! Isn't 'NAM DHRIR' technique or 'sas gras' or 'sas sas' or any other technique just a form of PRANAYAM of Patanjali's Yog Sutr - as used by Pandit Jagjit SIngh Ji and other people of other sampardas? And in the name of equality and equal opportunity can a guy do this technique with a girl?? (If so, where do I sign to join up?LOL soz I just had to ask.Me and my lustful thoughts!) As an aside, when I was attending AKJ ren sabhais as a kid I saw this happen for the first time, and the shock.....! Almost a frightning experience to watch and listen to it for an outsider.
  15. is that sas grag type of simran they are doing in the background? If so , what is the thinking and technique used by muslims to do simran??
  16. Is the Jori an invention by the 5th guru? And was it adapted from the dholki style pakwaj thingy?
  17. Why is clapping so frowned upon amongst the sikhs? Is it a religious objection or cultural? I understand that the old babe were straining in their Kacheras when Nusrat Sahib and Co started clapping at their Southall gurdwara performance. Also the fact that qwalli doesn't go down well with sangat says more about their lack of experience/knowledge about music than anything else. Most Sikhs have been bought up with the base style of semi-classical music that is performed at HArmandir Sahib (as seen on satelite channels). Anything different from this is probs seen as 'anti-gurmat' or not 'as per gurmat maryada' (two of the most popular phrases amongst Sikhs today?!), or just plain boring!
  18. THe trend of a violent Political Religion is not just with Islam. SIkhs and other religions are also jumping on the bandwagon. Just look at the Khalistani issue, anti-Ram Rahim/Radhasoami or any other minority groups that mainstream Sikhs dislike and victimize. Look at the Piara Singh (Bhavsagar Granth) attacks by Tyarbar Tyar Singhs; Birmingham Rep Theatre protests. And many more troubles created (, inmy opinion) by Sikhs. Instead of following a spiritual path we are playing the 'them and us' Power Game. Believe me when I say SIkhism of today is a violent and aggresive form of Sikhism too. Just take a look at your local temple on Sundays or pop down to Central London in early JUne to watch the '1984' tamasha that takes place there.
  19. Its all about "panthic ekta" or unity, mate. What better way of unifying our youth than by creating a real or imagined external enemy! Its worked for all other communities, dictators and religious fundamentalists. Why not for us? 'We are better than them!', 'they are out to destry us!', 'we must keep our identity seperate.!'
  20. I do not know of any onlinie versions of Koka Shastra but you can buy copy through Amazon, or just try your local library: they should be able to get hold of a copy through their network. To those guys -and girls who say that Gurus were against kam, I have a question: How on earth do you gain an erection without any form of lust in your mind to arouse you....even if just 'procreating'? For the girls , would lack of kam/lust not make love-making painful or just plain uncomfortable? Maybe you people can lie back and think of England...or Panjab!! But for me (and many other chardi-kala Singhs and Singhnian) we need lust for when we make our Khalsa Fauj. When choosing your Bibian to get married , if you didn't look at their beauty and the pleasures you both could have together(ie use kaam) did you base your choice on caste, their wealth, family background etc? I'm not trying to be critical or sarcastic but just trying to understand the puritanical mind of some of our fellows.
  21. OK folks , lets not start a slagging match about who stood who up. just enjoy her voice! Maybe the Sikhi Camp was a bad date!!! LOL
  22. I have heard on the sangat-vine that Pandit Jagjit Singh Ji Nirmala are in the UK, currently in Wolves. Anyone know what their plans are???? Luvs and Kisses to all!!! xxx
  23. It is said that Baba Deep Singh Ji hand wrote four copies of the SGGS and sent them to the four takhats. Furthermore, they also wrote a copy off the SGGS in ARABIC and sent it to Baghdad, Iraq. From my understanding that copy was until recently kept at the Baghdad National Museum or Library (don't know which one). During the US 'shock and awe' bombing of Iraq these institutions and there contents were heavily damaged. In the aftermath, whatever was left was destroyed or looted by the mobs. What I'd like to know is does anyone know what happened to the SGGS kept there, does it still exist? Regards, Queens Own Fauji.
  24. Mithr What was so special with the Puraatan Singhs that made them so strong? Did they eat whole chatka'd goats or practice yoga and pranayam?
