  1. One who sings sufi music is not necessarily a Sufi himself. So expecting sufi type qualities from a man who is not sufi but happens to sings sufi music is too much to ask for from that man. I mean, Sartaj is an entertainer and professor in Sufi music but let us not confuse him for being a real sufi. The work he is doing for Punjabi music is good work. Music itself has a huge influence on culture. Finally we have a singer from east Punjab who is making a positive contribution to Punjabi culture. I would gladly pay $100 to listen to Sirtaj than the trashy type of Punjabi singers of great fame we have who have a negative influence on Punjabi culture.
  2. That's true. BUT, considering the level of quality of singers we have today in east(Indian) Punjab, he is still too good to be true. His type of singing and the content of his lyrics is refreshing to hear even if it is copied. His songs are songs which a Punjabi man can hear with his sister, mother and daughter and not feel ashamed because today in Punjab most Punjabi singers sing such songs which a man cannot hear with women of his family. Even the music videos of Punjabi songs are shameless. So Sirtaj is still good and we need to support him.
  3. Thanks you very much for this link. I've always wanted to read it's translation but couldn't find it.
  4. Great find by Tony Jee. Jugni is a corrupted word from Jublee.
  5. Arif Lohar and Meesha are both amazing singers. Why can't we have good singers like them in our Punjab I'll never know. We are left with mostly trashy singers to be honest.
  6. Master Tara Singh "threw" Sri Dasam Granth out of Akal Takht??? That is a BIG LIE! Firstly, it was Sardar Kartar Singh Jhabbar who liberated the Akal Takht. Master Tara Singh did not play a major role in the early Gurdwara reform movement. His role was mainly in the Shiromani Akali Dal, plus his being a former Hindu should not be used against him. The early Akalis were Gursikhs who believed in Sri Dasam Bani and gave respect to Sri Dasam Granth. But like many supporters of Sri Dasam Granth (like me) they just did not believe in doing Prakash of Sri Dasam Granth alongside the Prakash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. You can be a supporter of Dasam Granth and not believe in doing Prakash of Sri Dasam Granth alongside Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. I would also like to point out, that Master Tara Singh can be accused of being uninformed, misguided about political realities of the world and times he was living in, but to hint that he was some kind of a traitor is simply not true. When he refused the Sikh state the British were offering he did it because he was not politically farsighted and cunning like his counterparts Nehru, Gandhi, Patel or Jinnah. After 1947 when he realized his mistake he greatly regretted not forming a Sikh state when he had a chance to form one. He was jailed numerous times after 1947 by the center for his struggle for greater autonomy for Punjab and Punjabi Suba.
  7. I have relatives in Germany. They tell me, the turks have given all the immigrants a bad name. So far, the Germans are actually quite friendly with the Indians living there. It seems the Turks in Germany are like Pakistanis immigrants in English speaking countries.
  8. Veer Jee, nice to hear from you after a long time. The part about beggars is so true. I have had the same experience many times. If you give one beggar some money even if you hide it, all of a sudden you will be surrounded by 30 beggars within seconds. As for Rishwat, well nothing in India is done without it, and it seems no one in India is even complaining about it. They don't even care. Another point is Sikh deras, sampradhahs, jathas or groups. Sikhs today identify more with their group and want to promote it rather then identifying with whole of Sikh Panth and promote the Panth. Group is fine, but they need to work together to do Prachar rather then individually. Many times, you will see groups acting like they are in competition with each other. Sikhs are in a really bad situation right now. Also, in Punjab the youth are all monay(hair cutters). You go to any village, the youth all have hair cut. If I go to any village, people think I'm probably some Granthi or Kirtani because of my beard. The weirdest thing is, before it was just in the west, but now even girls in the village only want to marry clean shaven boys rather then a boy with a dastar and beard. The point you mentioned about Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwalay is also true. In Punjab you will see it is getting increasingly normal for people to hang posters, bumper stickers of Sant Jee. I've seen so many youth(monay) having pictures of Sant Jee saved in their mobile phone. That is good to see. Hope to see more posts on this forum from you.
  9. First thing is first, the SGPC needs to be completely independent of Shiromani Akali Dal or any other political party. SGPC should be run by rehetvaan Sikhs. SGPC can do great things for Sikhs worldwide if only in the right hands.
  10. That's the thing that really gets to me. On one hand I see Chamars shouting about discrimination, but on the other hand, they do the exact same thing if not worse to the Churaas of Punjab. It's all about them, them, them. They follow a man made religion based on caste in which the Chamars are the top in the hierarchy, that in itself is castist. Can a Chura or other so called low caste become equal members of their man made sub religions? answer is NO! But the leftist/communist media and brainwashed NRIs who read that leftist media will just see Jats=bad and Chamar=good without trying to see the real ground situation in Punjab.
  11. NO, cutting an artery will cause the animal to bleed(suffer) to death not kill it instantly. Even though, I'm not much in favour of Jhatka either, but only Jhatka can be considered to be the most painless and instant method of slaughter since the nerves are cut that moment. Muslims of course will want us to blindly believe all sorts of non sense like Islam being the religion of peace, Prophet Mohammad being mercy to mankind, Islam means freedom for women, dhimmis and Halal being a painless method of slaughter which is all false.
  12. That is just Islamic propaganda. Since animals do not have the facial expressions or speech with which they can communicate their pain, we think they don't feel any pain. I've seen how Muslims behead people in their hostage videos and it is exactly the same way they Halal the animals. Judging from those human execution videos and the way the human screams and yells in pain, it is reasonable and logical to assume that the animal must feel the exact same amount of pain when it is being killed by the Muslims.
  13. The article you posted also shows that it had nothing to do with caste as the original article tried to portray. You find a guy in your house in the middle of the night messing around with your daughter or sister, I'm pretty sure any ghairatmand Punjabi man regardless of caste would probably attack that guy without thinking once about the consequences. As for those people who make ignorant comments, let them. Lets see if they would keep their cool if they found a man messing around with their sister or daughter under their own roof. This story reminds me of the incident a few months ago where another Ghairatmand Punjabi man shot a guy who was found in his own daughter's bed in the middle of the night. He shoots the guy, and the entire english media painted the situation as being a "Jat man attacks and kills a poor boy because of his caste" type of story which to be honest is pure bull$hit.
  14. Sant Jarnail Singh Jee Bhindranwalay gives an excellent speech about this issue in this video:
  15. True. The Sikh generation that lived during the time of Guru Gobind Singh jee was the purest of Sikhs. Over time, with every passing generation cultural traits began creeping in. The early misl period Sikhs were also pious Sikhs, real Sant Sipahis, they lived in Gareebi and only for Sikhi. During this period it was also a meritocracy meaning: when one Sardar of a misl died, the next most able Singh would take his place as leader of the misl. But the later Misl period and Ranjit Singh era saw Sikhs becoming less and less pious and more worldly. Sardars began collecting wealth and a son would succeed father as the new head of a misl as if a misl were now a family Jageer, Singhs began drinking alcohol and even began to take a liking of watching Mujraa girls dance. By the end of the anglo Sikh wars, Sikhs (although still very brave) had largely become worldly and did not want to leave home and wage a guerrilla war against the British as compared to their great grand fathers who lived in jungles and carried out guarilla warfare against the Afghans. I'm assuming that the problem with female infanticide amongst Sikhs also began when Sikhs began settling down during the later misl period. The story of Maharaja Ranjit Singh's mother is also from that period.
  16. Great seva brother. May Guru Jee bless you for the seva you are doing for the Panth.
  17. It's not the part of a gori marrying an apna that has people ecstatic. I think that it is the fact that a woman who comes from a rich family and lived a sinful life(from Gurmat point of view) has chosen to leave all that behind and become a Gursikh that brings a smile to people's face. She does seva all day long at Gurdwaras with her husband. She dresses up modestly. Guru Jee has blessed them both with a great lifestyle. I know that western influenced people may not approve of this but may more women and men all over the world follow her example.
  18. The only way a murder occurs is if one of the parents are unhappy of the marriage this can happen in both inter caste and within caste. But the parents of both the boy and girl are okay with this marriage. So that is not even the issue. The British media is digging up dirt from the past of these two to imply somehow that both of them are double faced, abnormal and even opportunists, otherwise a normal white woman or man cannot even do something like this. They are making this into something that seems very very wrong and weird.
  19. The way the British media tries to dig dirt from this story is disgusting to say the least. Aggar mia bibi ho raazi, to kiyaa karega kaazi. If both the couple are happy, what's their bloody problem? would the media be acting like this if she had married a white man?
  20. I think because by holding food as a weapon, it is the average Indian who will go hungry, not the politicians and policy makers.
  21. Great article. Japan and Germany both are facing a demographic problem with their shrinking population which is getting older and older. Russia was facing a similar problem about a decade ago, but thanks to Putin, it is experiences a positive population growth rate for the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union. Problem with Punjab and Sikhs in particular is that Sikhs have the lowest birth rate in India grouped together with Sikhs wanting to leave India to go abroad. This is all spelling a future demographic disaster for the Sikhs. Our grand parents generation had very large families, in fact they used to praise large families, but for some strange reason our parents and also our generation have had very low birth rates. I think the problem is Sikhs of today view babies/children as being a social and financial burden to their own lifestyle, which is also a reason why most Sikhs don't even have a problem with murdering their own children (Abortion). Problem is with our thinking, we have become very selfish and worldly. Today every Sikh family you see in Punjab has only 1 or 2 children. We have a negative birth rate, which can take decades to recover from. Sikhs need to have more babies.
  22. Another Veham is telling children not to drink Chaah(tea) or else their skin colour will turn dark.
  23. Amazing post brother. Totally agree with you, especially the bit in bold.
  24. Judging from this thread, Sikhs of England seem to be very accepting of homosexuality. Living in England for 3 generation has made you into Goray/European in terms of your moral/ethical values.
