  1. Divine mystic reflections on Gurmat, some of the deepest books on Gurmat I've ever come across. you can download them free here:http://www.gurukhoj.com
  2. could you share some of his most deepest lectures / kathas?
  3. It's hard to share the experience as they are very mustana, but can come out of their masti to speak normally if they wish. Their partaap was immense, I've had darshan of a lot of sants but their partaap pales in comparison to Baba ji's. He is mentioned in the DMROG series of books, apparently sant Naranjan Singh ji (one of the sants pictured in the sant samaj photo) stated that this current sant would lead the panth one day. Sevadars told me he is called President Saab b/c of his immense tap. My time with him was very short, but b/c of the feeling I had from his darshan, and the additional boost from the amazing DMROG books, it was not difficult to believe such things about him.
  4. op was in 2004. anyway, the movement is normal.
  5. don't know what it's called. is normal though. there are different kinds of chi, so you could probably call this chi.
  6. sounds normal. keep doing it. if it was happening all the time when not meditating that would be different.
  7. I take this to mean that we shouldn't start and then stop for periods of time. If we take a long break from simran than the churn (that shaanti, that focused surti, that anand from Naam) could be lost. This is why so many don't make it anywhere. When we are motivated we push ourselves, when motivation wanes we start indulging in the world and fail this test repeatedly. This is what happens to me. Then we have to make efforts to rebuild that shaanti, that focus, that anand...
  8. sorry, amswer is same either way, pehra from opposite gender needed
  9. both marags are acceptable in Sikhi. However, the way you feel now may not be teh way you feel a few years from now. Trust me I know. I advise you to ask Guru ji directly for advice on what to do. Keep in mind that if you choose bihangam (celibacy) than you must keep a pehra (respectable distance) from all females for the rest of your youth and middle age to avoid falling.
  10. I spoke to a WW2 vet once who told me that he had immense respect for Sikhs b/c they never drank, while all the other soldier would drink a great deal of liqour to calm themselves before battle.
  11. we are not jains. their dharm seems to emphasize karma over everything, hence the skyclad monks who are nude and cover their mouth in case a fly flies in and who sweep the ground in front of their every step. and yet just to remain alive our immune system kills great numbers of germs and parasites everyday! Our dharm emphasizes Grace, although we recognzie teh role karma plays and act to minimize that while still being practical and living our lives in the world.
  12. all who profit earn the karma, including the butcher, the owner, and the eater, and the farmer. taken from a sant's katha, don't recall who. cut it down, you have to protect your family's health and safety. i'll give an example, if i see a spider in the house i'll gently pick it up and put it outside. i don't want to unnecessarily kill living things. but if I saw a cockroach I would kill it b/c they carry disease. it would be a greater wrong to let it live and expose my family to disease. btw, there are no roachs in my very clean house, just an example :)
  13. actually, looking at interviews of his going back even decades, his viewpoints on numerous things seem to be pretty consistent. Hilary on the other hand is responsible for the destruction of an entire stable and prosperous country and the spread of terrorism from that country to Syria, which then lead to American friends and allies being inundated with refugees and migrants (including many thousands or more hostile to Europe). She talks women's rights but her policies have pushed back womens' rights by centuries in the affected countries with no payoff for the US...
  14. seek protection of satsangat. do meditation, listen to kirtan, and katha etc in satsangat. This can help rejuvanate a person. at the very least, when they do simran in the gurdwara it kind of forces you to sit there for awhile b/c everyone else is. the valleys are tests to see if you still do what you should be doing.
  15. I'd be a bit wary of athiest Khushwant Singh. Hari Ram Gupta is very well regarded, I highly recommend his books. Patwant Singh is also great and I *love* his engaging writing style.
  16. Bachitar Natak doesn't call the Gurus Hindus, however it does confirm the Guru's lineage is from the ruling strata of society. Nope, absolutely not written in Bachitar Natak.
  17. no they are not. neither they nor any other samprada is above Gurbani
  18. Historically, men tended to have a greater number of masculine qualities (I'll call them yang) and women tended to have a greater number of feminine qualities (I'll call these yin qualities). Every individual has a mix, men tend to be more yang overall while women tend to be more yin. However, there are a minority of women who are more yang and a minority of men who are more yin. Subtlety is considered a yin quality, one that is useful and essential at times. Both genders have it of course, but women tended to be better at it. This quality can be used for good or for evil. As society changes, the nature of our work and schooling change, and men tend to become more feminized while women become more masculinized. While men still may be overall more masculine and women overall more feminine the differences between the genders are much less in the younger generations and much greater in the older generations. We now see more men than in the past using subtle tactics to harm opponents b/c their workplaces (offices as opposed to factories or farms) and schools create an environment where less obvious tactics may be rewarded while heavily penalizing more straightforward tactics. For example, a co-worker may subtly sabotage another's chances of promotion. So now the natures of the two genders become more similar .This is why young people have such trouble understanding Charitropakhyan. Guru ji taught Sikhs how to be saints, and how to be soldiers, and he also had to teach his Sikhs how to live a good life in the world. If we were yogis we wouldn't need guides on how to deal with subtle manipulation tactics from people b/c we wouldn't be around people. But since we live in the world, and since we know how to deal with straightforward attacks (sipahi) he needed to teach us how to deal with subtle attacks. This is what Charitropakhyan does. Most of the stories are about women b/c in those days the subtle attacks would be done mostly by them. The thinking of men tended to be more linear and so they were not readily able to defend against such subtle attacks and this bani teaches how.
