Not good. The smugglar they interview looks like a keshdhari apna. I'm shocked at how open the junkies are with getting filmed.

Badal, SGPC and Akali Dal have completely failed the quom.

Politician bashing is favourate thing in India and I think in democratic world too.The question is, are people of Punjab soo stupid that they don't know the side effect of drugs?.SGPC don't force them to take drugs,to cut their hair ,to go to Dera. They do it with their wish.No Doubt SGPC should have done more prachar

of sikhi ,but its the people ultimately who have to decide what to do

We are all collectively responsible in different ways.

When a Quoms tradition (flesh) is taken away, they are left with nothing other than a skeleton.

The Quom then tries to fill this 'flesh gap' with all sorts of nonsense i.e. revisionist traditions (which have failed miserably, in fact they have involved into the blasphemous movements which we see diseasing the world over (with main power base in CA). MTV/Bollywood/Hip Hop/Bhangra trash culture also seeks to fill these gaps.. hence many youth trying to live up to their khanjar/druggged up idols from the 'west side'.

God has been taken away in the 'given' form and ego and ensuing paap has replaced it.

SGPC/Singh Sabiya/Akali Dal - being the great representatives and leaders of the Quom have no choice but to take their share of the blame (which is by far the largest % of the pie).

Their are said to be many other 'vested' interests fuelling the decay of the Punjab, but irrelevant, only we are responsible for our own raksha. we can point fingers or we can get off our butts and help.

Punjab is not unique in this situation, much of the same is seen in South America, Africa, US, Easter Europe and across Asia - namely the growth of drugs and prostitution, fuelled by Godless cultures and commercialisation of greed.

People are also reaping the rewards of their karam, but that is not an excuse for us to turn our noses up, rather its an opporunity for us to help by recognising this as an opportunity for seva, and therefore help us ourselves to cross the dreadful world ocean ourselves.

Fair point. (To KDS)

Our lot have lost the plot.

But, effective counter smuggling operations can help reduce availability. But we still have to ask what is behind so many youth wanting to get high? You expect some too, but not at this level!

Plus it's spreading outside. About 4/5 years ago I did some work on site. I had a few apnay munday from backhome asking me where they could 'score' smack from. Strange thing is that they wanted that specifically, not weaker cannabis or marijuana, like most 'vlaathees'.

Our closeness to Pak/Afghan doesn't help!

Rabh jaane?

We should be harder on ourselves.

Amardeep, there have been plenty of jobs in the US, UK and CA, haven't stopped a large no of 'Sikh' boys enjoying (and continuing to enjoy) various classes of drugs. In any case, wasn't one of the boys being interviewed a NQ Doctor or studying medicine or something?

Economic reasons are not the main issue, drugs are a massive norm in nearly all Western well to do countries.

The issue is 'the death of God' in these cultures - this has and always will lead to the creation of ultimately 'self destruction'.

People can ignore 'the lack of God' at their own peril.

I heard the son of some Akali Dal official got nabbed with a shipment but was released within a few hours once strings were pulled, a year or so ago.

Shaheediyan is right in that the 'death of God' or spirituality is a major factor behind the drug taking. Having a job seems to play a small part in this. Thing is, I've seen the sons of so called respectable pillars of the community snorting snow at parties like there is no tommorow. So even being brought up 'right' in a conservative Sikh household is no defence. In fact those kids are some of the worst abusers.

You have to keep boys busy from a very young age and help them develop skills and passions that will keep them preoccupied when older. There are no guarantees and we can expect some amalies as we always have, but this epidemic is something else.

Well Recently BSF deployed women BSF guards on Punjab border.Their main aim is to curb smuglling as large number of women are also used in smuggling

Now, Sikh Women Too Guard India's Borders
