  1. Notice how most of the Nihangs in that picture are wearing Pajamas. Modern Nihangs are fanatically opposed to the wearing of Pajamas. Even their Chandtoray are different from today’s Nihangs. I wonder whose influence modern day Nihangs are under with so many changes over the years.

Even a Nihang I talked to described it similarly along the lines. Not that I want to seem too wise… but how the heck is it ‘divine’ when it is a physical act? It seems like the hippie culture of the 60’s has made sex and drugs into ‘divine’ experiences. We can still feels the effects of the Hippie culture on this forum it seems.
  3. No Sikh Mahpursh ever described sex as 'Devine EXperience'.
  4. BAZ wrote: BAZ one can also use similar analogy against the basic fundamentals of Gurmat by saying that "if you get God by keeping long hair (uncut hair) then all the animals with uncut hair would get God". Keeping a similar mode of argument, one can argue and ridicule almost everything whether it is Sikhi based or just plain morality. So such modes of argument don’t make any sense and seem very childish. N30 Singh wrote: N30 Singh, Baba Bulleh Shah was a good pious Muslim, and a renown Punjabi poet. I respect him for that. But for me, when it comes to matters of Dharm, I only look towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Lalleshwari wrote: Where does it say that they are supported by the RSS? If that is the case, then you should have no problem with the idea of celibacy.

  6. Khalsa does not mean ‘Pure’. This is a common misconception amongst the Sikhs. They confuse the words ‘khalsa’ with ‘khalis’ since they sound similar so they think that it must also mean the same thing. The term ‘khalsa’ is a farci word which means that which belongs to the emperor. Mughal Emperor Jahangir in his personal memoirs ‘Tozkay Jahangiri’ has used the term ‘khalsa’ when mentioning crown lands which belong to him. Similarly we the Singhs known as Khalsa belong to Guru Gobind Singh Jee who is our Sache Patshah (emperor). Strange how Muslims, Christians, and Hindus dont act like apologists for their beleifs, but Sikhs have to always act like apologists just to sound politically correct by thinking 'oh what would others say?'. When I went to India recently, I had a talk with Nihangs, and they very boldly and proudly say how Khalsa will one day rule in the form of Nihang Singhs. They don’t care what others think of them, nor do they act like apologists. But strangely in the west, Sikhs always seem to care what others will think. Anyway, I will be answering any replies after a week because I'm going out of town.
  7. aman, how about Shah Mohammad's Jang Nama?
  8. if thats the qualification, then i'm a Sant too!
  9. I agree with Veer Desibaba Jee. I dont care what some of you say about Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Jee. He will always remain a hero of our people. His Shaheedi is an inspiration for all of humanity and not just the Sikhs.
  10. Navi Kaur wrote: "In specific verses in Dasam Guru Granth, Guru Gobind Singh Ji discusses different uses of alcohol." Bhain Jee, can you please be gracious enough to point out a verse in which Dasam Pasha is telling his Sikhs that drinking alcohol is ok. sorry for putting you on the spot but I had to ask this because a lot of young children visiting this site might get the wrong impression by the views expressed in your post that alcohol is some how allowed for a Sikh.

Dont know about the other stuff, but when I went to Sri Hazur Sahib, I met Akali Nihangs there, who kept Babek so strictly, that they would not even allow me in their kitchen. While talking to them, they told me that they do not eat from Monas, or even non-Babekis Sikhs! These are Nihangs from a Gurdwara built by Akali Nihang Baba Mitt Singh jee. They have a separate langar for Babekis and non-Babekis. So are you also calling them Brahmans N30 Singh Jee because of their strict observance of Babek? I have even met AKJ and Taksali Babekis in my lifetime. Are they all Brahmans because they don’t fit into your narrow minded (yet Manmat) version of what constitutes a Sikh?
  12. Pheena wrote: "Can you dance without Music?" Sure as long as you are admitted into a Pagal Khana, you can dance without music, talk to the walls, see imaginary friends, and even believe in mumbo jumbo like flying monkeys and pigs. Pheena wrote: "The Cosmic Rythm provides the ground for us to Dance. Blame God for creating such a Rythm." So does that mean that stripers and mujrawalis are just dancing to Gods Rythem? Wow, never heard of such an interpretation of Kanjar Naach.

N30 Singh wrote: "everything is allowed in bairaaaaaaaaaaaaag man..everything is allowed in bairaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag..when one gets bairaag , its above maryada, gurmat((hijacked by fanatics)), anti-gurmat whatever you want to call it." Sorry to say but that is nothing but you own Manmat. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING in this universe is above GURMAT. Using you own logic, one might as well say that if man is in ‘bairaaaaaaaaaaaaag’ then he can even rape a women, after all, he is in ‘bairaaaaaaaaaaaaag man’ isn’t he? Some might even argue if one is in ‘bairaaaaaaaaaaaaag man’ then it is even justifiable to murder someone, after all “everything is allowed in bairaaaaaaaaaaaaag man..everything is allowed in bairaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagâ€

Then maybe you should also emulate the rehet Baba Gurbaksh Singh Jee kept, such as wearing of Neela NIhang Bana 24/7, waking up at amritvela everyday, memorizing the entire Panj Granthi(besides the Nitnem) and last but not least become a Shaheed like him. Then the entire world would look at you and truly say 'Vaah Jee Vaah!!'
  15. Did Sant Jernail Singh Jee dance? NO Did Sant Ishar Singh Jee dance? NO Did Baba Mitt Singh Jee dance? NO We should strive to live up to the Jeevans of these great Gursikhs instead of indulging in Kanjari Naach. Why try to emulate Marasis and Kanjars when we can follow the ways of warrior-saints like Sant Jarnail Singh Jee Khalsa.
  16. Narsingha, so reality is lost when one thinks logically? Strange and very illogical….. BTW, believing in flying Monkeys and similar mumbo jumbo is not ‘make-belief’?
  17. Tarkay Dunia, Tarkay Ukhbah, Tarkay Maulla, Tarkay Tark. I Renounce the (desire for) World , I Renounce the (desire for) Heaven, I Renounce the (desire for) my Guru, I Renounce the (desire for) Desire for Renounciation. Actually, the word 'Maulla' should have been translated not as 'Guru' or spiritual-teacher/Murshad but instead it should have been translated as Allah/God/Rab. So in other words, Tarkay Maulla means 'I renounce the desire for God’.
  18. Until recently of about 80 year ago, dancing was a bit of a tabu amongst the Jamindari/Jat class. Instead Kanjars and Marasis would be hired to dance and entertain the Jamindars and Jats. The only Jats that were known to dance and not feel ashamed of doing so were the RiaRki(Gurdaspur region) Jats. But now it seems the Jats have adopted the ways of the Kanjars and Marasis and are the first ones to jump to the dance floors and literally party all night like wild animals. hhmmm... how time erodes traditions...
  19. It really surprises me of how some people with an agenda show how desperate they are by putting down the Panthic Sangarsh and Shaheeds, even in unrelated threads. They just reek of desperation. Oh well…..
  20. I agree with you. Ruby Dhalla is very white washed, so I don’t expect her to have a Sikhi based stand, but I am however disappointed at the stand Navdip Singh Bains took on this matter, considering the fact that he is an Amritdhari Gursikh. Ujjal Dosonjh is just a sellout as far as I’m concerned. He was originally the head of the BC NDP. He was so horrible that not only did the NDP loose the BC elections, but he even lost his own seat! Realizing that the NDP was a sinking ship, he next decided to switch parties and join the liberals. What a turn coat! Even when the tables and chair fight was raging, he took the side of the westernized pro-tables/chairs group. I don’t know what Paul Martin was thinking when he extended a hand of friendship to an imbecile like Dosanjh.
  21. and then why he can't sort out "ram raie"s of the panth Maybe because we still have alot of close minded Dhir Malias within the Panth who have no respect for Guru, and Guru Ke Sikh by resorting to name calling and persecuting them.
  22. N30, how are Sikh divided on this issue? I have not across a single Sikh out there who supports same sex marriage. What Navdip Singh Bains is doing is simply a matter of politics. He is an MP for the liberal party of Paul Martin which supports same sex marriage. Navdip being a loyal liberal party MP has no choice but to support what his leader decides if he wants to 'move up the ladder' (tarakki) within the party. Personally I don’t care just as long as they (gay community) don’t perform the Anand Karaj ceremony.
  23. lol.... is that the most chardi kala thing u could notice... The reason I noticed that is because Nihangs always use a blue Nishan Sahib as opposed to a Kesri Nishan Sahib. In India whenever I have had discussions with Nihangs, they always seem to be against the kesri Nishan Sahib. But on the picture, it shows a puraatan Akali Nihang Singh carrying a Kesri Nishan Sahib and NOT a blue one which modern Nihangs seem to carry.
  24. maybe you could have posted on Tapoban under a different name?
  25. How is it racist and sexist? and are you a psychologist that you have come to the conclusion that it is "messed up from a psychological point of you"?
