    That's a wonderful passage.
It reminds of the Zen parable of the finger (teaching) pointing to the moon (enlightenment/God) which maybe what you are referencing.
It also reminds me of one of my favorite passages from the Hebrew prophet Amos
    "“I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
your assemblies are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
        I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 But let justice roll on like a river,
        righteousness like a never-failing stream!"
    Amos 5:21-24

    Isn't this the mind's habit?
Desire to attain the thing which has given us enjoyment/happiness; and there is no enjoyment greater than Spiritual experience. Our Mind thinks (that's the only thing he does) that we can have the same experience if we do all the hard work of meditation and may be if we've less distractions then it would be better.
Yes, in reality it would be better but that's NOT how the Matrix operates.
e.g [ There was method of drawing water from a kind of well in which a wheel is pulled by horses or bulls, and it brings up the water. Once a horseman came with his horse and wanted his horse to drink water. That horse was thirsty and wanted to drink water, but the noise scared the horse and it would jump. So, the horseman asked the proprietor to the well, "Will you please stop this noise so my horse can drink?" The proprietor replied, "But if this noise stops then the water will also stop." Same way if we expect the whole world to behave nicely or have less distractions, and think that then we will be able to meditate, forget it! Or if we expect that we'll get some extra-time apart from our daily chores, then we're wrong. We should do meditation while doing our duties towards our family. ]
The Secret (do NOT tell anyone) is: The sustenance of Spiritual enjoyment does NOT come from our attachment to that Spiritual experience or hard work alone. It comes from Kirpa and Kirpa comes when all of our hard-work/techniques/thinking have exhausted and at the end we understood that there is not other way around it we just Surrender.
All the other things: like kirat-karo, accept the will, do your duty etc. sounds like it is the way to reach higher states, but the point is: These sayings are merely pointers stating that you're just the puppet in the hands of Environment you're in (Matrix/Maya/Illusion). Everything (some had to do hard-work to earn little money and some needs very light work to earn lakhs, diseases, relationships, finances, careers etc.) is bound to our previous karma. So, instead of fighting with the environment to overcome some issues, just accept whatsoever it is AND at the same time continue your seeking; eventually we'll get what you really seek for: Kirpa.
    There is another Big question
    - Do you have a choice to ignore your duties? I guess not unless one wants to ignore the needs of the near and dear ones and are ready to let them suffer because of our desire of non-desire.
So, at-least for me: I want to go away from these worldly affairs (family, career, and all that) but I do NOT have the guts to leave my duties/punishments as I don't wish my children to suffer. There is a saying in Punjabi: "Gaal paya drum te vajana he penda ha" i.e "You've to perform the task that is given to you against your will"; in other words, here is the brief:
We've to perform our duties (or whatever you call it) because there is no other choice. Secondly, as we've to perform the duty, then why not perform it with happiness and enjoyment. In-fact, perform the duties cheerfully, selflessly, without attachment. It will bring Contentment (believe me it is very great experience) And here are some things that I DO KNOW but do NOT practice and therefore I didn't take advantage of these; but may be you want to. In other words, it is Theory or Borrowed-Knowledge and NOT Self-Knowledge.
    How to be always Happy
First create a condition in which we are always happy but that requires human effort. There are 4 happiness giving techniques: Veerag, Patience, Contentment, and Vichar. Contentment is the first and foremost virtue that should be cultivated. It comes only when we have done our duties to our fullest capacity and selflessly without worrying for the results. It is a virtue that always helps and never disappoints the seeker.
Secondly, don't fret over the past and don't be worried about the future. The present is going on.
Thirdly, Happiness is within and the source is the center of consciousness, love, and wisdom. Try to get Self-Knowledge. Life is very short and we should learn to enjoy every moment by remembering the Lord of Life, and always assuming our body to be a shrine of His living presence. We are not body, we are Soul which is always in Bliss.
I guess that's enough of ranting.......

The way i've understood it and some what expereince it on expertential level. Atma/pure awareness is both local awareness/consciouness and beyond, vast and infinite, but when surat focualized atma on local level, one existence's level , it limit themselves, it objectifies it and duality kicks in
In reality, our atma -pure awareness in us does not have limit is vast and infinite as sky not limited to one existence/body/mind. In bhramgyan or sehaj samadhi, individual existence-consciouness/mind totally dissolves in to vast atma which is all in all, without any duality, without any distincation, there are no subject or object. Atma is one without second.
As in the recording, sant ji was reiteretating in bhramgyan there are no vichars left one sees/feels/being-chaitna/atma and atma everywhere. There are no disctination, there is no you or me, its state of non duality, there is no object and subject, or objectification or further fragmentation into individuality existence, relative realities, different body. In bhramgyan, one is not aware of one existence focualized, its all awareness on expertential level, these things are hard to explain as you mentioned.

Good time management.  Keep time for bhagti as you can't do it 24 7.
Devote time for career too. Alternatively choose a job that involves physical work.
If necessary use alarms to keep reminding you of your duties.  I remember being so busy... in school. Totally focused on each minute... to use time to its best productivity. The energy from bhagti is put into use to further your achievement in this world.
Laziness imo is not a product of bhagti... it seems rather like a leisure time pass.

    Hi!
I was looking for a Sikh forum and this seems like a nice community. I'm a 35 year old father of 2 boys and I live in Virginia in the USA. I've studied religions for sometime, spending some time as a Christain, then Zen Buddhist, the Hassidic Judaism and currently I am Baha'i and also a Platonist.
I'd love to discuss some of the aspects of Sikh theology particularly the unity of God and our union with the Divine.
On one of our Baha'i chats the Sikhs came up. We had nothing but good things to say and the group felt we should get to know one another. So I'm also here on behalf of my fellow online Bahais who send their greetings and prayers.
    God is most glorious!

sarabatam reacted to harsharan000 in Please someone guide me!
    Brother Shivam,
Naam, is within each and every jeeva, irrespective of any dharam, caste, color, creed, age, or gender, or be it a mahapurukh, or a theif, dacoit or a non believer, it is within each and everyone of us. Nam is the highest level of consciousness, with countless virtues, can be summarized in as we all know: Sach/Truth-  Chit/Pure Consciousness - Anand/Bliss
it is not that it is only within sikhs, or hindus,  and not in muslims, christians, buddhists, ...etc, for Nam is the Origin, the Creator of everything.
Guru Jee, in the beginning of the Mool Mantar clearly says: Ik Oankar,  Sat-Nam.  He says: there is only One Lord Creator, which is Nam, and that Nam is sat/sach, which means, it is the only eternal  everlasting Truth. That is why Guru Jee called it Sat-Nam.
Moreover the Bani referring to that Nam, tells us : Aad Sach, jugaad Sach, hae bhee Sach, Nanak hosee bhee sach.
This Nam, is also referred in the Bani as: Shabad, Sachee Bani, Dhur kee Bani, Amrit, Amrit Bani, Anahad Bani....etc.
The thing is many of us, take Nam literally as a mantar, a word or something utter able, be it in any language.
But let us ask ourselves, if Nam was a word, a phrase, or a couplet of words, that would not be possible, because how can a word or a handful of words create the infinite creation?
    Moreover, in what language?
For when He exists alone by Himself, since the very beginning, who was there to address Him, or call Him? With which mouth, or in which language?
He, can be described as an Infinite Ocean of Light and Shabad or Dhun. So if in a manner, if the sun has no caste or creed, what caste or creed can a mamulee jeeva atma, a ray of that Light, have?  If an ocean has no caste or creed, what caste or creed can  a mamulee drop of that ocean have? it is by braham, we say we are this, or that one is so, or so.  And due to that braham, fools blinded by the agyanta, and under hatred, ahankar, and ego, fight and kill in the name of dharam/religion.
That also, when in the Bani, referring to that primal force as  Jot/Light, Guru Jee clearly says : Sabh meh Jot, Jot hae soee.
That Nam is Jot, and that very Jot is within every being, as a ray of that Jot.
There can be many words, in many languages, to describe that One Truth, but all aim to that ultimate reality. Christians call it Word or Logos, muslims call it Kun, chinese call it Tao, etc
Now, what you call Naam Daan,  it is not that, Naam is given to anybody, because as said before, Nam is within everybody already, without it we can not even exist for a second. When He infuses that ray of Nam within anybody, that being becomes conscious being/living being, be it in any joonee. And when He withdraws, that ray of Nam, we cease to exist, and parlays, and mahaparlays take place, and the creation at all levels also comes to an end, until once again, He, Wahiguru Akal Purukh, out of His Mauj, wants to create again.
So you see, what you refer as Naam daan, I would say, is a technique, a jugtee, to make pargat that Nam within us, which already exists, but of which due to the filth of our karmas, vices, man, maya, sanskaras, senses, we are unable to perceive that reality of Nam.
So brother, if the path of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, tells you to wait until you are 25, then try to read more literature, read the Bani, in order to understand and convince yourself, what is right for you, do not rush into anything.
The path is already within also,  and if you are to tread that path, or any other, do not worry, nobody can ever push you away, nor pull you along, for your destiny is only yours, it is a matter of time only.
For the mean time, as brother das has written in his post, keep an eye on your karam, in order to stay clean, and do seva as he has suggested also.
    Stay blessed.
    Sat Sree Akal.

The way I understood regarding Atma. There is no difference between Atma and Chetan (Pure Being Awareness) and that in bhramgyan avastha one see chetna everywhere. Once ego or mind is lost nothing matters because nothing is all chetna / awareness
