  1. It is not just the metal (which is too heavy anyway), its the knowledge of how each weapon should be balanced and correctly weighted, little nuances such as the curves and the corresponding length of handle to length of blade, these things are missed by Baldev Singh in the shastar I have handled of his. Although he has the skill to copy designs of shastar he is missing the knowledge that makes these weapons effective for Shastarvidiya. They look the part, however when using them the flaws soon become aparent. People have provided him with pictures of weapons, and he has tried to copy them as best as he could, what he requires is some knowledge of how each weapon is used. Regardless, his stuff is still better then the "kirpans" that used to be available
  2. singh2, please refer to the following shabad: ਮਾਰੂ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥
  3. Never once did I state that the shabad I posted was reffering to the Sargun Devta Shiv Ji, infact the shabad itself creates the paradox of sargun nirgun by describing the mohi saroop and then stating Anyone or anything that takes birth is ultimately consumed by the fire of death, to hammer this truth home the Guru applies it to those beings which were seen as Gods themselves, showing how even us "mortal" beings are all prone to death. As stated in Bani, these Devtas are incarnations of Akaal Purakh however worship is reserved solely for his unmanifest nirgun form.
  4. There is no such thing as a "Hindu" Devta, it is either a devta or not. All roops which have been taken by Akaal Purakh are an image of himself, if you believe it to be a "Hindu" Devta, then Akaal Purakh himself is a "Hindu".
  5. Shiva is written as Siva or Siv in Gurbani, without the sasseh pehr bindi which was added to the Gurmukhi script later. The word itself means the bringer of comfort which is reiterated in the line from the shabad ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੀਤਲੋਹੀ with the word "sukhdaaiee"
  6. In Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Arjun Dev Ji writes the following Shabad where Akaal Purakh is named as Shiva, its interesting to note that the Guru statS "tera roop sagal dekh mohi", that people see his roop and become attached to it, so the Guru is reffering to a sargun saroop and not nirgun saroop. For the sake of integrity, I have posted the full shabad and not one liners. Who can please You, except You Yourself? Gazing upon Your Beauteous Form, all are entranced. In the heavenly paradise, in the nether regions of the underworld, on the planet earth and throughout the galaxies, the One Lord is pervading everywhere. Everyone calls upon You with their palms pressed together, saying, "Shiva, Shiva". O Merciful Lord and Master, everyone cries out for Your Help. Your Name, O Lord and Master, is the Purifier of sinners, the Giver of peace, immaculate, cooling and soothing. O Nanak, spiritual wisdom, meditation and glorious greatness come from dialogue and discourse with Your Saints. ||2||8||129|| If fauji can accept that Bhagauti is not the sword/chandi and instead reffers to Akaal Purakh, can he accept that Shiva is the comfort giving roop of God? If he can accept Shiva reffers to the comfort giver, can he then accept that Mahakaal is the roop which brings the destruction of everything?
  7. Carrying such weapons are of no use without real combat training, because when an unskilled, unprepared and incapable person is faced with the choice of taking someones life or having their own taken they will freeze and end up being more danger to themselves than the attacker! Taking out a weapon without knowing how to use it carries the risk of being disarmed (by brute force, freezing under pressure, overpowered) and then having it plunged into yourself, the worst death for any Khalsa. Those who intend to carry weapons should learn how to use them, practice daily and tune your mind to the realities of real engagement. Are you prepared to take a life, the pshycological trauma that comes with hearing the screams of your opponent as you cut into him, the shock of having blood gushing out on you. Lets be serious, warfare is not a pretty sight, and it should not be thrown about like it is easy to deal with. If anyone has seen gangs of rioters attacking others in hoardes they will see how much of a shock that would be to an unskilled person. From what I know, anyone who wished to join the Khalsa would first have to be trained in Shastarvidiya, live within the Dals for approximately 2 yrs, and if ready they were given Amrit. No army wants untrained people within their ranks, they are a liability to everyone there.
  8. Doesnt Panthic Rehit Maryada state that no one should discuss whether the Bani of Sri Dasam Granth is penned by Guru Gobind Singh? If Akaal Takht declares that Sri Dasam Granth is Gurbani, will Guru Da Sikh start believing in it? I very much doubt it.
  9. To bann someone is the easy route out, to hold a intellectual debate allows people to discuss ideas and search for the truth, thats only if the people involved are in it for the search of truth!! If Fauj is banned, he will still retain his beliefs and continue to just spread them somewhere else, maybe where his audience will not be able to respond like the people on this forum have. The only problem is, Fauj decides to pick and choose which replies to respond to, and constantly jumps ship from one topic to another, dancing around the subject. Questioning your beliefs is not a bad thing, if anything it strengthens them and makes the readers more attuned to the surrounding knowledge. To get to the bottom of this is if Fauj actually puts his beliefs down and then going around those beliefs to proove him wrong. If he believes in Guru Granth Sahib, use the philosophy of Guru Granth Sahib and any other scriptures which he believes to be authentic to discuss back. From what Ive read on this forum, Fauj has the following beliefs: 1 - Believes only what is written in Guru Granth Sahib 2 - Akaal Purakh is only ever masculine 3 - Does not believe MahaKaal is Akaal in any shape or form 4 - Akaal never takes a physical form or has no form 5 - Prof Sahib Singh Steek is incorrect and has mistakes so cannot be taken as right (Please confirm which Steek you believe is accurate) 5 - Please add any other beliefs Can Fauj clear up what parts of Sri Dasam Granth to you believe are penned by Guru Gobind Singh, or you consider as authentic Bani. What parts of Bhai Gurdas do you consider as authentic? From here the readers can find out exactly where they and you stand, it saves you wasting time doing lyrical gymnastics. Akaal!
  10. Fauj, just out of interest, who do you believe the term Mahakaal refers to in this Tuk. Is Maha Kaal a seperate entity from Akaal, is it not Mahakaal at all and just means death, or is Maha Kaal and Akaal one and the same?

  12. I find it funny how Sikhs feel that everything they do has to be exclusive to the Sikh Panth. Unless the Sikh Gurus were the first people in the universe to pick up a sword, Shastarvidiya would have its roots in early swordsmanship practised by the Hindus. In the same way, Raagvidiya was around prior to the Sikh Gurus, and like Shastarvidiya, due to their great expertise of it, they developed it further. Whatever the vidiya is called it is still the same combat style, the name expresses its roots, tradition and heritage. The first book on Shastarvidiya will be released in the near future, and will explain the link between the Akali Baba Dabara Singh Akhara to the Runjeet Akhara of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and down to the Shiv Akhara. I believe there is a book by Baba Gyana Singh on basic vaars and blocks, however trying to put the classical penthras and yudhans onto paper would be near impossible, as the highest level of the vidiya is not a simple attack/block scenario, it is a multitude of tactics/strategies/counters/anticipation amongst a world of variables which would be impossible to pass onto students through books. Shastarvidiya is a Kartik Vidiya, meaning you have to practise and gain the experience through the guidance of a gurdev, learning from books is limited and does not even scratch the surface of true combat and swordsmanship. Like Shaheediyan said, we can argue all day long, but that isnt going to change the minds of some people. Those who truely wish to learn would have been at the akhara learning, those who dont, would be sitting on forums chatting conjecture.
  13. Anyone who has LEARNT grappling in shastarvidiya will quickly realise that it is nothing like grappling in any other art. If what Niddar Singh teaches is a fusion of other arts, then experienced martial artist will easily see through it. If these martial artists accept and acknowledge that his vidiya is unique and carries the aspects of a higher level martial art, untainted by outside influence, then will you change your mind? I doubt it, because your hatred for one man clouds your ability to see the truth.
  14. Funny how Niddar Singh has never done a class in Kung Fu!! He did however attend some Jujitsu and Waradu classes whilst he was in England during his learning so that he could compare styles and arts. His main influence prior to learning shastarvidiya was his Grandfather who taught him Kushti techniques and Dand Behtak regimes. "I know a man who knows a man" isnt exactly the best way to get down to real truths.
  15. The apology was for a comment made in the last chapter of Niddar Singhs Hazoor Sahib book, which focusses on the destruction of heritage around the Takht, which has lead to 700 homes being knocked down in order to "develop" the area for the 300 sala celebrations. The chapter included comments from Hazuri Sikhs about their plight, and also raises concern on the lack of development that actually took place and missing funds which were raised by sangats money. Obviously these comments the heads of the Takht objected to. Niddar Singh states in the chapter that the Jathedar has "no fighting spirit" to stop this destruction taking place. They requested that the book be withdrawn, to which Niddar Singh said no. So this apology (which was redrafted like 10 times by the people there) was used as a comprimise for the non withdrawal of the book.
  16. Its not so much the unhealthy ghee and oil filled food which is bad, its the lazy and unhealthy lifestyles of the people in our community. That diet is great for the people who would get up early and go to their farming in the heat. Now, its prontas for breakfast whilst they sit infront of the tv watching tv dramas, ghee in the tharka, ghee in the dhaal, ghee on the roti, and then when they reheat the dhaal there is more ghee to make it "tastier". The diet is fine if you do the excercises and bal to go burn it off.
  17. Its very well made and its responsive, if you have the board the right way round (DOH!!) Got GTA IV today, will be playing that

  19. Import the video into Windows Movie Maker, you should have it on your pc at the moment, if not go to the windows website and download it free. Once the video is in the program, scroll to where you want, and hit the button "Take snapshot" or soemthing like that, save the jpg and upload.
  20. Rather than pointing fingers at others wahegurbol, why not look at the failings in your own mind. You blatently have anger issues, bad language, ego (cos you dont let things go). You ranted about the bad things about eating meat and how they effect your spirituality, your a vegetarian, whats your excuse?
