  7. wjkk, wjkf to the best of my knowlegde sikhi doesn't agree with 'child baptism' as is done in many other major world religions. This is because once you have taken amrit you are given the status of the adult, you now have to conduct yourself in a way in which you take full responcibility for your actions. Now whether you're ready to do this at age 11 or age 20, it doesn't make much of a difference... stay in chardi kalaa
  8. wjkk, wjkf when it comes to politics, 99.9% of the time there is always a hidden agenda. No surprises here then :? stay in chardi kalaa
  9. wjkk, wjkf try a different way of tying ur dastaar, it is a crown that should not be easily removed form a knock. i've generally heard that a round keski seems to hold better in physical situations, avoiding any embarissing disrespect to the dastaar. bhul chuk maaf
  10. wjkk, wjkf Noor ji, our gurus had reached the optimum state of spirtuality therefore 'attatchment' wasn't an issue to them BUT they still had piaar & compassion --> don't confuse attatchment with these qualities; they are extremely important for any human being & are overwhelmingly evident in the gursikhs i have been blessed enough to meet. its a difficult balance but you need to learn to live life lead by your head (the hukham of guruji) but also back it up fully with your heart & yes there will be times of laughter & great sorrow but with the grace of Waheguru we all will get through it because we have to - after all we are here due to karam. accept that you are human & have imperfections but let yourself be led by gurujis loving hand... stay in chardi kalaa...
  11. wjkk, wjkf its important that we take notice of things like this - not to spread islamaphobia, but to be aware of the condition of our surroundings. i'm sure that this was the intent behind your post we live in a multi-cultural society & i won't suddenly begin disrespecting the muslim people i know due to this post Jamuka ji, i'm sure that most of SA sangat will go away with the same line of thought. stay in chardi kalaa. wjkk, wjkf
  12. wjkk, wjkf Jamuka ji, that post is an eye opener. this kind of ignorance makes it really hard for me to believe that there was a time when Sikhs, Hindus & Muslims lived side by side peacefully & shared happiness & pains as a community --> Complete respect & acceptance of diversity - none of this 'unbeliever' crap... we're living in the time of kalyug, things will get worse before they can improve bhul chuk maaf
  13. wjkk, wjkf what is the gurus roop if it isn't backed up with the heart of a lion? only when something is under threat, do we realise its importance if we lack oxygen we will inevitably suffocate & our bodies fight for air until the very last moment...sikhi keeps a gursikh alive in this exact way, which is why so many have given up so much to stay true to their guru. waheguru...plz bless your children to have the strength to accept this incomprable gift known as sikhism... stay in chardi kalaa... wjkk, wjkf
  14. wjkk, wjkf i've been told that singhs originally used to tie a black dastaar when they were going to battle & knew they wouldn't return. nowadays though it seems to be just down to personal taste. theres my two pennies worth. bhul chuk maaf
  15. wjkk, wjkf i agree with you, but heres another question; is 'tradition' neccesarily a bad thing to go along with IF it doesn't contradict teachings of Gurbani? just a thought...
  16. wjkk, wjkf this is done just due to its femininity; it radiates beauty of gurus roop & grace. bhul chuk maaf wjkk, wjkf
  17. wjkk, wjkf my dear brothers & sisters; i know this has nothing to do with sikhi but is a cause i feel very strongly about; plz read & if u feel the same copy & paste it into a new e-mail & foward 2 all on ur mailing lists. prehaps 2nite u may hug ur younger siblings / children a little tighter... stay in chardi kalaa. ______________ Do you remember February 1993 when a young 3 yr old was taken from a shopping mall in Liverpool by two 10-year-old boys? Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only a second and Jon Venables took his hand and led him out of the mall with his friend Robert Thompson. They took Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the way stopping every now and again to torture the poor little boy who was crying constantly for his mommy. Finally they stopped at a railway track where they brutally kicked him, threw stones at him, rubbed paint in his eyes and pushed batteries up his anus. It was actually worse than this....... What these two boys did was so horrendous that Jamie's mother was forbidden to identify his body. They then left his beaten small body on the tracks so a train could run him over to hide the mess they had created. These two boys, even being boys, understood what they did was wrong, hence trying to make it look like an accident. This week Lady Justice Butler-Sloss has awarded the two boys anonymity for the rest of their lives when they leave custody with new identities. We cannot let this happen. They will also leave early this year only serving just over half of their sentence. One paper even stated that Robert may go on to University. They are getting away with their crime. They disgustingly and violently took Jamie's life away - in return they get a new life. Please read this carefully... then add your name at the end... and send it to everyone you can! Please copy this e-mail (highlight text, right click, copy and paste into a new e-mail) instead of forwarding so we do not get arrows at the beginning of the lines. If you are the 220th person to sign, please forward this e-mail to: cust.ser.cs@gtnet.gov.uk and attention it to Lady Justice Butler-Sloss. Then start the list over again and send to your friends and family. The Love-Bug virus took less that 72 hours to reach the world. I hope this one does as well. We need to protect our family and friends from creatures like Robert and Jon. One day they may be living next to you and your small children, without your knowledge. If Robert and Jon could be so evil at 10 years old, imagine what they could do as adults! Those two (cant call them humans and it's unfair to the animal kingdom to label them animals) don't deserve anonymity. Poor Jamie had never got a chance in life to even be a child let alone grow into an adult. Why should those two get everything they want when Jamie got NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1. 18. wjkk, wjkf shun these bibia & u will achieve nothing - show compassion & piaar & u can change the world. -note that this is a product of society - ideals that our fellow 'singhs' also adhere 2. don't judge this @ face value; believe it or not ur keski / pug is easier accepted by ppl within & out of our community then a women with a hairy face. sad i know, but true all the same. bhul chuk maaf wjkk, wjkf
  19. wjkk,wjkf there's no surprise - justice will inevitably prevail. wjkk,wjkf
  20. wjkk, wjkf getting brothers 2 help the bride around the taabia is more of a tradition now then a neccesity - in the past the bride used to have her chunni pulled far over her face so couldnt really c where she was going has ne1 heard of the weddings which r performed in between a rehnsbia @ amrit vela? - i think its a amazing concept! just imagine how buzzin every1 would be! bhul chuk maaf wjkk, wjkf
  21. wjkk, wjkf prehaps we all knew the truth at one point, but have suppressed it because we refuse to accept it - doesn't that explain how we fall into the cycle of re-incarnation? bhul chuk maaf wjkk, wjkf
  22. wjkk, wjkf dearest Khandaydhaar, to dispell the grief & misery of guilt, u ultimately need to gain naam. once naam is gained & worldly attatchment is lost there will be no space for guilt in ur life. Guru Nanak Dev Ji Raag Saarang 1232 kott kalap kae dhookh binaasan saach dhrirraae nibaeraa ||1|| rehaao || The guilt and sin of millions of ages is erased, and one is released from the cycle of reincarnation, when the Truth is implanted within. ||1||Pause|| however this isn't something that will happen over night; if u ever need help, do an ardass - ur guru is listening. god bless wjkk, wjkf
  23. wjkk, wjkf something can only be considered a kurahit if done intentionally whilst knowing its moral stance in sikhi. u have nothing to worry about veer. bhul chuk maaf wjkk, wjkf ps; don't get confused with this 'wrathful god' ideology; it has no place in sikhi.
  24. wjkk, wjkf dear lalleshvari, exactly how have u come to this conclusion? can u elaborate plz. wjkk, wjkf
