  1. Exegesis and jurisprudence are only tools, to be used to break up or build up. You choose how you wish to use them. If you want to utilise the divine gifts of exegesis and jurisprudence for the demonic aims of discord and 'causing bad feeling' then go ahead but do not blame 'sikh tradition' for your weakness. Bad feeling or negative energy is the food of demons. You are creating a large brood.
  2. Everything must return to its cause. Misguidance is indeed a form of hell, but it is not a permanent state. Some people only learn by suffering, to speed up this suffering for some is an act of grace. You before said conscious misguidance, this is different from ignorant misguidance, ignorant misguidance will increase Karma, undoubtedly, but conscious misguidance lessons the weight, even though you may have to spend some time in hell. "So Mahadin and Prophet (pbuh) are not the same even though all your commentators say they are the same? I am just curious how you define Mahadin's Islam". Who am I? I am less than some shit. What can I say on this topic, people believe what they want. If you wish to make Sikhs an enemy than let us add to the hatred in the world, I am sure if you try hard enough you can breed the hatred the israelis have for the palestinians but this is indeed a mighty task. But without effort nothing is possible, If SIkhs hate Paki's let the Muslims hate Sikhs tenfold more. Those Sikhs even degrade the prophet in their Holy Books (even though his name is not mentioned, and when it is by Bhai Gurdas it is with the word 'yaara') Spread this around that Sikhs denigrate the prophet and the work of Baba Nanak can be destroyed properly. I call all Sikhs and muslims let us destroy the work of Baba Nanak so he may guide us adharmis and that we may purify ourselves through suffering it seems the only way we will learn.
  3. 1. the Gurus themselves never stated that they came to trap the unguided souls by building "fly traps". This is of course not explicitly stated but implied in their actions. Texts are not the whole world. 2. a substantial number of Muslim disciples of the Gurus thus remained consciously misguided which again doesn't really add up. Yes brother, consciously misguided to expunge all their karmas, the ways of the Guru are certainly marvelous! Even the misguided are guided, all according to their being. Yes Islam according to Sikhism is Adharma to 'trap' people into adharma but by so doing guiding them and also protecting the path. But I am not saying this about the Prophet Mohammed's Islam but Mahadin's Islam.
  4. The mosque was built knowingly that it was adharmic, but it was only to filter the weeds away from the true path. The path is the source of Dharma and if too many weeds come near it it endangers dharma, so a mosque was built for adharmis, but to to protect the eternal dharma, which was getting infected with weeds. We still see this today, where adharma is used to filter off people with diseased intellect into what is called 'indrajal' away from the path lest the purity of it be comprimised. May god spread more adharma to misguide the unclean. This was also according to vaishnavism carried out by 'budh' avatara. Who represented excessive scholarly reasoning which is evidently horizontally orientated and does not lift being to higher levels, this is only managed through paradox, which only a few may grasp. SO lwhy create animosity, if you cannot understand, leave it, our aim is to keep people in chardi kala, slowly, too fast and the amrit turns to poison, break up only slowly. Or people will hate you.
  5. what truth? Historical? Metaphysical? Transcendent? I've never known such a harlot as this 'truth' people speak of these days. As you well know philology is a good way to get to the truth, so does this truth, have an objective sense which we all can aim to understand (of course with the correct preparation) Or is this truth a wishy washy subjective fantasy. please flesh out this concept for our benefit. I would propose to use the word reason, instead of truth, as truth implies an absolute an unchanging essence, whereas we can have degrees of reason which are derived from truth, with God being ultimate truth and therefore ultimate reason. By using such a word as truth you are being deliberately unflexible. While I understand a pinch of supremacist thinking and subordination and inclusion of the ideas of other 'ways' must be the constituent of any path. (no one believes theri own ideas are inferior) It is not correct to attempt to batter the other ideas into submission, it will leave only a bloody mess.
  6. The reason for using Akali and Nihang is... for no reason. I see the words as "Sikh Warriors". I don't want to use Sikh directly. In fact, I want the word Sikh to appear less often. (If there is another word I can use then please suggest) WHy? because Sikh = religion, too "normal"! Akali = hmm.. cool! Say Nihang! (say it) NiHUNG! sounds like he/she is gona murder someone. I use the words because I can relate to them and they sound wicked! But again if there are other words then I will definitely give them a try OR switch over completely. I am not trying to make traditions up. This is fiction. The storyline is called "Miri Piri" and it is about Guru Hargobind Singh ji's swords. These swords are able to absorb magical energy and redirect them, which is why they are so powerful. They were lost somehow and need to be found again to end the reign of terror. I see nothing wrong with this. I have taken a concept of Sikhism and have expanded it into something different. I am definitely not trying to change anything here. I am not trying to offend anyone. Afterall, I have grew up with the same stories and same religion. " I find this all very distressing and saddening. You are opening up a Pandora's box. You think children will look at this 'eye candy' and be inspired to search for the truth, how naieve, they will begin to believe these stories you are creating. You will make them so confused they will not know their arse from their head. The 'world' is dangerous, to put ideas 'out there' you make them liable to become corroded to be dissolved, to become profane. If you have a taste for fantasy do not drag down noble ideas into your personal fantasy worlds. There is something known as the truth this truth is not subjective it is not fantasy. By entwining sikh history, and sikh ideas in fantasy worlds you are creating confusion, an individual 100 years from now looking at your 'fantasy' work will build up an idea completely opposite to what real sikhi is. He will think it is some kind of cult obsessed by physical appearence, to define their essence. In other words inside out people. I also have a contention with the above post by DB. This individualistic approach is a concealment of something sinister. An artist does not portray what he thinks is correct. The artist is not cut off from contemporary social trends. The 'artist' is influenced into making types of art. An artist works from a tradition, or if not he works with emptiness he remoulds nothingness into different froms of nothingness. I must stress this again these pictures and fantasy ideas are not personal or individual of Bhagat Singh he has made them because he is influenced by contemporary society he has made them to be a servant to the ideas that are seen as 'cool' he is a servant to maya. This Bhagat Singh is nothing but a slave. Contemporary society has severed all links with tradition it has an eroding corrosive effect, To have permission to make art you must have permission from god real permission. Not just any to dick and harry can come up and make some art. Ideas and images are powerful, we underestmate the power of them. Be careful what you eat, otherwise you will get indigestion, and believe me you do not want to get the shits.
  7. actually in fact India was known as Jambudvipa, the innermost of the seven concentric islands that make up the world
  8. thievery is a noble art, let us not degrade ourselves by thinking badly of thievery. God is the greatest thief he will steal all your 'riches' all your pompous attitudes, he will steal them all one day, let us praise all real thieves for acting in a godly way,
  9. even stealing is an art form and has a niyam associated with it. There are some shaastras dealing with it, also the ishta dev for thieves was none other than Kartikkeya or Skanda the son of Shiva
  10. my advice is take it as a blessing, but do not overdo it, divide yourself equally between your day to day activities and simran. Do not let one overpower the other too much, if you feel one gaining ascendancy reduce it, you must fulfill life duties bring your abhiyaas slowly into your life duties. Aim for balance between two worlds, you do not want to become totally lost to the world, you have to still live in it.
  11. I would like to say that the aim to eradicate poverty is a naieve one. A clever individual will understand that for some people to have others must not have. For all to have is not possible. On a small scale if you give to a needy person, you lose out and he gains. Like wise on a larger world scale for a large group to be taken out of poverty a large group must be put into poverty. Also the level of material possession that is the standard these days is not possible for the whole world, resources are finite. Instead of wasting energy on 'helping the poor' this wealth of resources should serve as a means for an individuals self perfection, by acting in this way, towards his goal of self knowledge, an individual provides benefits for his fellows, without identifying with 'helping people' actually trying to help people in a material way, is actually helping the material world, and reducing the closeness to the spirit. Rather poor people should be taught to live with poverty rather than have desires created in them of higher material benefits, which actually creates a 'hell' in them. I am sure all agree that the man with the 'wealth' of simran is a real rich man and the poor man is the one whose heart is empty. This view is open to abuse, but each person must pay for what he eats, so even if a lazy man justifies his actions by the above argument, he must still pay for what he takes. To give materially is the lowest form of sacrifice, as sacrifice become more psychological its reward is greater, each person must therefore sacrifice at his own level of understanding.
  12. you are lucky to have reaped the fruit of previous efforts, to be able to understand the pure simple message of gurbani. you have had to learn all philosophy, theory and everything to now understand bani's simple message, bani is the root of all knowledge, branches of philosophy and other arts come from it, but the roots are hidden, the bird can only be attracted to the branches. so please do not wipe these efforts of yours and understand that what you have understood in previous births people are understanding now, it is not possible to 'jump' each understands at his/her own level. do not let haumai get the better of you as it creeps up on you in places which seem the most safest and secure, saavdhan!
  13. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9...q=money+as+debt money as debt, those who are worried by the credit crunch should not watch this, the future looks shaky.
  14. the timespan of the yugas is not to be taken literally, but it is understandable the people of be-vichaar do not like to think deeply about such things. The timespan of the yugas represent the philosophy of numbers or numerology. The numbers have a certain meaning. Has anyone noticed how many times the numbers 3 and 7 occur in all esoteric and mythological literature? 3 signifies many things aum, trimurti, 3 worlds, 3 states, etc etc. And 3 + 7 = ? the yugas are normally represented as lasting 432000 or 432000000 the most important thing is 4+3+2 = 9 which signifies the fusion of 3 and 7 one overlapping the other, which is why it is 9 and not 10.
  15. Thanks for that it contained much valuable information. concerning the accepted defintion of nirgun - sargun and annihilation of the individual, how can the annihilation of the individual be considered turiya? As the other author said, would this not be the equivalent of suicide. Cannot turiya be conceived of as a state of individuality untainted by the three gunas? A state where the hero has defeated ignorance. To be sure it would be an 'otherworldly' individuality. To make turiya a state where an individual is annihilated then what is the point of sadhana, is it sadhana for self-destruction if so there are surely other simpler ways. This coincides with sargun-nirgun. Is sargun paramatma not just qualities such as mercy etc. but, as in the 36 tattvas of KS, pure consciousness or shiva. This pure consciousness can be called vaheguru or other names. nirgun, encompasses the 36 tattvas and cannot be spoken of or approached, it is the unknowable mystery of mysteries. The other author speaks of some sort of 'heaven' this may not be far off the mark, as gurbani does speak of a karam khand, as individuals we can approach paramatma through our sadhana, depending on the purity we have achived and the degree of knowledge we have obtained we may find a place 'close' to paramatma, to be a 'grace' or 'mercy' for individuals trapped in ignorance.
  16. what are your priorities? Do you want great big muscles? Or do you want to develop spiritual muscles? Because you cannot do both, you cannot sit on the fence. All or nothing. You cannot be in a halfway house then you'll be neither this nor that. make your training a sadhana or make your sadhana your training. I excercise an hour 5 days a week but not with heavy weights, just body weight excercises to keep the body healthy and in good condition, you cannot have a healthy mind without a healthy body. If you want big muscles and want to get big this is not going to help you on the guru's path this is work for maya.
  17. Baba Shaheediyan ji! Pray tell us, lost souls, what is the difference between science and spirituality. I feel much doubt in this area needs to be cleared.
  18. Bhakti is derived from the sanskrit root bhaksh meaning 'to eat' it is a movement regarding people who were hungry. But it became an allegorical quest for the 'somosa of somosa's' WHich had its arising in the primordial mist before time and had the quality of destroying all hunger. The concept dharma is to do, allegorically, with imbli chutney The paradox of trying to eat, a mystical somosa which destroys hunger, gave rise to a lesser path of 'chutney ritualism' among which at that time in india imbli was supposed to be the best.
  19. To have faith in something is a human neccessity, i have faith that my employer will pay my wages, that the supermarket will provide food etc etc. This faith is blind because you have no control over it. The best type of blind faith is to have faith in higher causes or faith in the principal of our actions. This is the only sensible blind faith to have as all other faith depends of causes arising outside of ones self. In sikhi faith in akaal is blind faith, but this blind faith is pure, it takes you out of the chakker. But to have true blind faith, which is blind faith without any questions, you must without fail answer all questions. Questions can be translated into doubts, the more questions you have the more unlucky you are, the more work you have to do to solve them. What i assume you mean by your blind faith is faith where all doubts are suppressed, because you must believe Guru Ji, to the letter. Well these days unfortunately we have many complications in our life due to the unnatural means of existing we have adopted, so these must be cleared before you can believe guru Ji otherwise you will make Guru Ji 'dirty' in your mind because you have not got rid of your doubts and complications, and have projected these onto Guru Ji. I have had my doubts and suppressing these through a fear that you are going against Sikhi or through 'faith' will make you into a psychopath. Vent your questions and doubts and dispel them with the light of vichaar. Do not let 'faith' create a wall between you and Guru Ji
  20. I don't think it is the judaeo christian viewpoint that these individuals view Sikhi through, but, i'd say more accurately, 'the diluted literalism which grew out of the Judaeo-christian tradition'. Judaeo-christian in this context is taken to mean, the mythologies rituals traditions and symbols which form part of the christian religion, in a very broad sense. There are many examples of esoteric traditions in the west which are akin to the traditions in the east, such as the corpus hermiticum and the emerald tablets of hermes trismesgistus. But these traditions were the first to become diluted with the rise of those individuals of the 'diluted literal' type. Now this strange disease is also spreading to the so called eastern traditions. So maybe instead of segregating judaeo-christian and indic traditions, it may be beneficial to segregate those of the diluted literal take everything at face value 'mad' individuals to those who wish to penertrate to the essence of phenomena, khoj karan vala, or true sikhs. To re-iterate my point 'christianity' is a facade to propogate a mindless conformity, and has nothing to do with real christianity. It is a sad disease of superficiality that unfortunately breeds a dire cynicism, when such holy and pavittar realities are abused in such ways.
  21. Where do you wish to get guidance from? How are you guided to the correct source of guidance? How do you know you are making mistakes if you do not follow currently any guidance? The answer to the last question is obviously an intrinsic morality inherent in humankind. It is this, the Guru's wished to blossom in men. This intrinsic morality is individual. This is why the miri and piri are essentially one or they are unified, mystical knowledge is the seed of socio-political rule. The light of mystical knowledge, ignites the fire of intrinsic morality. What I am saying to clarify for you is : a community based around a teaching of the source of all teaching, is sustained morally by a core of divine effulgence, which radiates outwards, sparking inherent morality in men as individuals. Now I in no way criticize a legalistic religious system such as the Sharia. First of all I have no knowledge of it, and secondly I believe it spreads good in normal peoples life, very much good in fact. But each to their own, If, and I think you would, prefer to be told when to p1ss sh1t and eat, and what hand to hold your thothi in, then follow a religious legalistic law, and be happy my dear brother, do not become despondent because you cannot find a rule my brother do not concern yourself with altruism it is a disease. Nobody wants the truth, keep your truth in a box, and when you feel sad open your box, and titillate yourself, knowing that you know the truth, you know the truth my brother.
  22. You and me seem to be viewing the subject matter, from two irreconcilable standpoints. Sikhi is a mystical path, the thought constructs you are imposing on Sikhi are not compatible. If a Sikh has not a certain level of morality he cannot access the Guru. To be able to read bani a certain amount of purity and inherent sensibilty of certain immutable laws, has to be present. Men may call themselves Sikhs, but a Sikh is only an individual who has a connection with his Guru. I have tried to explain that Gurbani does explain the rules about married life. But these rules are not in an exoteric or manifest form. They are unmanifest in an archetypal form. The Guru provides a means to access these divine truths. I am not saying everyone can have access to these truths, similiarly not all will follow marriage rulings or certain rules may have been imbued with a persons own intellect instead of from the divine intellect. Gurbani cuts out the middle man and goes direct to Akaal.
  23. for the eternal dharma to become manifest, it can only manifest through an individual. This is the manifestation of the eternal dharma, if this man so wishes he can codify these truths, he has sensed, into laws for others to follow. This is what I believe a prophet is, a bringer of dharma. If you have read Henry Corbin you will know that each mystic undergoes the ascension, the mi'raj of the Prophet Muhammed, and becomes the seal of prophecy himself. This is what I mean by Gurbani creating prophets, it creates mystics who in islamic terms, become the seal of the prophecy. FOr individuals who do not know whether they should have anal sex or not there is no rule saying this correct or incorrect. In Sikhi each individual must make his or her decision based on their degree of self knowledge. Self knowledge is obtained from the teachings of the Guru, we have faith the Guru will grace us with self knowledge, so we can sense the correctness of our actions. Whereas religious systems are liable to corruption and misinterpretation, the Sikh system, reveals correct ways of living through an individuals mystical relationship with the Guru.
  24. You seem to be confusing external dharma which is appropriate for time and place with the eternal dharma of which Sikhi is an expression. The eternal dharma does not vary with time or place it is always the same. Sikhi teaches the archetype or the primal idea of dharma, which contains all manifest dharma - like the shariat. Sikhi is the source of all rules and is the source of shariat. It may be unintentional on your part, but the attitude you have towards the Akash Bani of the Guru's is deregatory. Gurbani is not a rulebook, it teaches men to become writers of rulebooks. Bani creates prophets.
  25. TSingh - the sargun aspect of paramatama is towards whom the ardas is directed, and sargun exists through hukam. So how can you do ardas for someone who has cancer? What I am saying is to do a real ardas for someone you have to see paramatma in maya, or know the sargun aspect of brahm. Know the interconnectedness of everything, then you must 'see' that for you to wish help on another this can only be done through the interconnectedness, or through sargun brahm. Upashna towards brahm can be knowing or unknowing, unknowing you cannot help specific individuals, only sarbat da bhalla, so do not pray for individuals if you do upashna unknowingly, but pray for all, this avoids the danger inherent in the possibility of emotional attachment.
