  1. going back to the topic, i can also remember reading about jinnah saying that " we are not pacifists. we will take pakistan thru violence if necessary. " and it came to that. the british would have left a united india if they thought the 2 main communites would stay peaceful, but the muslims wanted to show that they were at war with the hindus. so this mentality has just passed onto/expressed itself in another generation about violence being a legitimate tool. the maulvis encouraging suicide bombers on civilians are the offspring of jinnah's mentality.
  2. shaheediyan, i hear what you are saying, and you are right about dharam yudh. however revenge will make a person do crazy things. at that time the muslimshad been killing sikhs for well over 2 years in west panjab. even in 45/46 there were villages which sikhs would refuse to enter to sell goods/milk etc for fear of death. the killings of muslims only came about after the radcliffe line was awarded in august 47. sikhs simply saw it as payback, however horrible that seems. my uncle who came from montgomery recalled the massacre of rawalpindi in march 47, and said " we were extremley angry after hearing what the muslims had done and wanted to take revenge..." also i was told by the elder brother of Sant-Sipahi Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, that their father Baba Joginder Singh had actually helped the evacutaion and safe passaage to a camp for the muslims wishing to go to pakistan. i dont agree with what the sikhs did, but i can fully understand why they didwhat theydid.
  3. im not sure. good = sato gun bad = rajo gun ugly = tamo gun hmmm. i think i fall more into tamo and rajo gun. bad and ugly. bad and ugly folks. especially if i see/hear someone laughing at my mule. she dont like anyone laffin at her...
  4. the country was founded on bloodshed lets not forget that.
  5. its not that the tuk gets misrepresented. Its cos there are many different meanings of tuks in gurbani. There are lines in Guru Granth Sahib that can have more than one meaning, and i remember Sant Gurbachan Singh once saying that there are some lines which have upto 12 different meanings. So the above line saabat soorat that Bhenji has given, i wouldnt say any1 translation is absolutley wrong, its just the angle throu which we look at them that differs from others. But it is hard to keep kids on the path. i do worry a little about my kids not being pakka in sikhi.
  6. Did Guru Gobind Singh receive a kirpan from Naina Devi? ive never ever read or heard of her appearance in this episode. What is objectionable about the 41st vaar, brother fateh singh, that naamdharis dont believ it?
  7. my vidya guru told me this sakhi. he said it is in the janamsakhis. thats all i know. i have Bhai Bala's janamsakhi, but havent got round to reading it yet. any1 esle read the janamsakhis?
  8. good god, do a search on this and all wil be revealed!
  9. come on!! did no-one find that remotely amusing? the man from mars / the man frm earth....
  10. is that a sequel to " the man from mars" ?
  11. its says in the janamsakhis that Guru Nanak Ji met Hanuman on his travels in Sri Lanka, and displayed hismelf as Bhagwan Ji, and gave Hanuman aagiya to go to bekunth.
  12. what was Guru's purpose for visiting Baba Ji?
  13. a long time ago when Bole So nihal program was on alpha panjabi, there was a gurdwara featured in this program where a sadhu who had darshan of Guru Nanak wanted to give daan or soemthing but Guru Ji said we will take this daan in Dasam Roop, so the sadhu lived for over 200 years and Dasam Guru fulfilled his wish. cant remember the name of gurdwara or pind that this story came from.
  14. Bhagwaan Ram Chander was Manas-Avtar so he was a human. I would therefore speculate that he spent all his life here on earth. I think tha only artifacts that have survived are the tiraths.
  15. is Baba Mitt Singh the same one the Nihang Singhs refer to as BrahmGiani Baba Mitt Singh of Hazoor Sahib?
  16. this is exactly what i heard in katha . The hunter was non other than an incarnation of Bali, the monkey warrior. Bali had a grudge against Bhagwaan Ram Chander for hiding from him and killing him. Bhagwaan consoling Bali on his death-bed sais that in treta jug, i will atone for this and you will hide from me and kill me. in treta Bhagwaan Krishan was lying down and the hunter whos name i think was phandak hiding in some bushes shot and killed him thinking he was something else. But s mithr says this was just an excuse reallly to end his own life. Just as in Sat Jug, Bhagwaan Vishnu gives Narad Muni a monkeys face and "earns " a sraap from him that he will lose his wife. Vishnu knows that in Dwapar the killing of ravan is paramount and so all the karma seems to be working to ensure that.
  17. even the dal panth became serperated themselves over this issue but majority still gave loyalty to Baba Santa Singh. However then general view re the dalpanth was that they sided with the govt, altho this isnt 100% currect.
  18. well you was given lies about him being killed in his sleep...
  19. great news. we should promote raag kirtan as much as poss in uk, usa etc
  20. kahn singh was not killed in his sleep. ok ? he was killed during tha day at celebrations in hazoor sahib. Kahn Singh did mukhbari and informed the police and they arrested 13 kharkhoos and killed them in false encounter. I doubt that what is posted earlier : "Having lost a lot of Singhs under his command Baba Kahn Singh expressed his opinion at a meeting of Kharkhoos. He said Sant Jarnail Singh Ji should have consulted more of them before taking his steps so they could have been better organised for the events after bluestar and not suffered unnecessary losses " is total bs. if that was the case then why do mukhbari and get other sikhs killed? you've just posted lies.
  21. do a search on darshan das and you will get your answer.
  22. narsimha rao was the home mminister at the time, and he could have ordered the army or the paramilitary police from its barracks and enfoprced curfew etc etc. but he only did so after 4 days of violence and only cos he world press was there for indiras funeral. he held out as long as he could before being compelled to act to stop the rioting.
  23. so it is what we percieve to be Gurbani that is main concern?
