Regardless if a poor person can change his Karma or not, but as Sikhs we should do good karma by helping the poor and unfortunate in anyway we can. We need to have compassion, this will destroy ALOT of bad karma we have. We should also have compassion on them and introduce people to Gurmat i think, that would be the ultimate compassion.

I agree iwht Chatanga. The amount of money they are going to spend for the space program which they don't really need, wouldn't it be better to spend that money on India's poor or to improve India's infastructure as China has done.

I totally agree with N30 Singh. Whenever you translate some spiritual literature from Punjabi to English it loses most of its beauty. I don't know why. Some authors try to translate such literature into old English(Shakespearian type English) but that just ends up being too old to understand. I can understand when a Gora or non Punjabi cannot understand or read Punjabi. But Punjabis themselves have absolutely no excuse for not reading about Sikhism through the Punjabi language. Now our own Punjabi youth in the west demand that Sikh related literature be translated into English in order for them to fully understand the subject. A Punjabi should always read Punjabi newpapers to get a good grasp of the language. Newspapers are a very important and useful tool that should be fully used to understand a language, because they never use difficult words so it will not only improve your reading skills of the language but since it is a refined version of the language it will also improve your own speech in the language.

I don't know how it is said in English but I know how it is said in Punjabi and Hindi since it is a very popular and sadly to some extent even true saying of North India. It goes along the lines of: The Hindu can see a storm happening, well before it has even started. The Muslim can see the storm as it is happening. The Sikh only realises a storm occurd once it has passed away. This is probably one of the first "sardar jee" jokes, but I have to admit there is alot of truth in that saying. Just take a look at our history and you can pin point so many mistakes our quam has made. The period of Banda Singh Bahadur, Misl Period, Ranjit Singh period, during Anglo Sikh wars, during 1857 Gadhar, During the Singh Sabha movement, Akali movement, 1947, during Punjab rights movement, during 1984 and post 1984 is a history of so many mistakes, but at the same time you cannot find any other quam in my honest unbias opinion with such a glorious history. I think the best of our "history" is yet to come. I think Guru Jee does have a plan for his Panth. This whole anti or pro Dasam Granth period we are going through right now will also pass away within our time period. This period of Dasam Granth debates will just be a foot note when we read about Sikh history in books 40 years from now I think.

Gita Govinda was not written by any of the Gurus. It was written by Bhagat Jaidev Jee whose bani is in Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Geet Govind is a renown Sanksrit work done by Bhagat Jaidev Jee and is said that a portion of it was even written by Sri Krishan Jee himself(probably only a Shabad). It differs from Bhagavat Gita in terms of content. It deals with Sri Krishan Jee's time with the Gopis in Vrindavan. I'm not sure why Geet Govind would be in any old Dasam Granth sroop though since it isn't even Dasam Bani. But it is worth the read none the less since it is an authentic work of one of the Bhagats. I only read parts of it. and Gita Govinda of Bhagat Jaidev Jee is not the same as Gobind Geet by Swami Rama. I wonder if Swami Rama wrote Gobind Geet in Sanskrit or Sant Basha (or any other indic language). If it is, then it has the potential to be regarded as classical dharmic literature of India.

As Matheen said, watch the videos and you'll get your answer. It's one thing to not beleive in Dasam Granth, but what Prof Darshan Singh Jee is doing is that he is actively doing Prachar against Dasam Granth which goes against the Akal Takht HukamNama. If he does not beleive in it, then he should atleast not actively do prachar against it. Everyone is in favour of discourse. In India, learned Singhs even challenged him to a debate about Dasam Granth, but he never showed up. So if he is not going to debate, then why is he doing Prachar against it? Sikhs have asked him very nicely with full respect, no one has used any violence against him. BTW I'm against the use of violence in a religious issue especially when it comes to Dasam Granth. Only fanatics with no knowledge and who are very insecure about themselves resort to hooliganism.

I've heard of something similar. Once I heard that a Singh was doing Bhagti away from people in the jungle. He only lived in the jungle sort of like Rishis/Yogis remaining in meditaion all day. The animals who lived in the jungle were very friendly with him. Even the female tiger would offer him her milk when she would feed her cubs, plus he preffered milk from a female tiger. I don't know how true this is though. I was just a kid when I heard this.

I feel so sad that a great Gursikh personality like Prof Darshan Singh Jee deviated from Gurmat. I had so much respect for him, in fact I still have respect for him, I love his Keertan. I pray to Vaheguru that Prof Jee comes back to how he was years ago and not go against Dasam Granth. We forum members who are not even equal to the dust of the feet of Prof Darshan Singh Jee the way he was in his younger years, need to learn a lesson from his life. If a great man like him can fall and deviate from Gurmat, then who are we? We are nothing in comparison! We should always be humble and pray everyday to Guru Jee that we not deviate away from the path of Gurmat and ultimately get a place at Guru jee's charan. We should always pray for Bibek Buddhi.

This doesn't make sense. This motion is for Canadians who go to India and do fraud with their Indian spouse. It's good they should not be allowed to remarry. But what about the Indian girls who marry Canadian guys simply to divorce them once arriving in Canada so they can sponser their boyfriend and family back home in India leaving the Canadian guy all emotionally wounded? So the Canadian guy who in this case is a victim should NOT be allowed to remarry for 5 years? what kind of justice is that? There have been literally thousands of such marriage fruad cases in Canada alone with girls from India who marry Canadian Punjabi men simply to come to Canada but as soon as they arrive many run away from the airport with her reletives or running away within the 1st month of arrival. So again, the Canadian guy who in this case is clearly the victim should not be allowed to remarry for 5 years? Is Malhi on drugs?

From what I have read about trench warfare, I think that it must have been the most difficult way of fighting a war for the ordinary soldier. Even a victory for either side usually meant only gaining a few kilometers at the cost of hundreds of thousands of men from both sides. Quite literally it must have felt like hell on earth for those soldiers.

May I suggest that you learn Sanskrit from a Pandit. A friend of mine learnt from a Pandit and now he knows Sanskrit so well that he can carry out a conversation in the language.

It's funny seeing how some people on that site have so much allergy of Hinduism. I think Kulbir Singh jee did an excellent job in replying to them. But some people there start to put everyone down by saying they are RSS if they praise anyone of the Hindu Dharm. Sadly this very common in our Panth today.

Maybe this financial meltdown is something that might lead to the doom of 2012(as many predictions claim). I have enough invested in Gold just incase something ever happens. You never know, its better to be on the safe side (better safe than sorry). Some Indian guy in LA killed himself and his entire family(wife and 3 children) after he lost everything in the recent market crash yesterday. This type of thing only happened when the great depression happened. Lets hope another big depression does not happen.

Why do they called themselves "Surajbansi"? you can only be Surajbansi through blood lineage i.e. through your caste descent. The only authentic Surajbansis I'm aware of are Rajputs and even Khatris. And why do they change the name of their martial arts so often? first it was called "Chatka Gatka" on their original site, then it was renamed "Shatra Vidya" and now "Hindu Sikh Shatra Vidya". What will they name it next? I think the old site was better.
