dalsingh101 got a reaction from paapiman in My continued spiritual struggle - ghost possession, mental illness, heart awakening and more
Yes bruv, don't stray off the reservation too much. It's great to learn about other perspectives and experiences from other traditions, but I do believe we are on surer ground when we stick to frameworks of our own panth (way). Keep our Guru Sahiban's (esp. dasmesh pita for me) energy as a focal point. They balanced the spiritual with hardcore dealing with the worldly.
We love you brother.
Waheguru mantar jaap is the way to go - I would have been completely bonkers without it I believe (or at least a lot more bonkers than I am). Slow down that breathing too (not in any forced way, but naturally and gradually - sehajay sehajay).

Geezer it's normal protocol to mention the author of works too....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating an 'ostrich stance' towards such things. And generally I believe that people should read the broader literature on a topic. If people like me (personally) are a little guarded, it is for good reasons.
Firstly I believe that certain people plainly don't seem to have the intellectual faculties to make discerning judgments about that which they read. And when these people read biased material they are prey to fall into the agenda on offer. The dimwitted wouldn't grasp that Anglo literature in itself is heavily loaded and consciously designed to catch out the docile - just look at how many apnay buy into Aryan or Scythian theories of their origins as a plain example we could relate to Sikhs of today and yesterday.
Lately I've met a few very educated western 'historians' who've been educated to very high standards at top academic institutes. I was genuinely shocked at their outright ignorance of alternative worldviews to Anglocentric ones (i.e. Saidian Orientalism or CRT - Critical Race Theory), which speaks VOLUMES.
It's important to read books by the 'enemy', but at the same time we need to acknowledge the truth that the gullible can easily become manipulated by clever (and even not so clever) strategies employed by this very enemy to, in effect, mould and shape the readers mind for their own purpose. Our people have and do suffer from this in no small way.

I wish this type of stuff was around when I was young.......sigh

One thing to note though, brown folks seem to set up their own semi-independent food supply and distribution networks. Was very different when I was a kid, and pendus used to drive around in trucks with sabjis in the back, knocking on the few brown houses in the road. Also, firms like TRS etc. have grown into multinational ones.

This guy got lucky. His kirpan looked like one of those blunt 'symbolic' jobs. I know someone was stabbed to death here in London a few years ago, when they tried to pull one like that out on some street youths.

Chatanga, you're a gem!
(1)I still can't find a definition of kalvutti??? Where did you get 'misery, distress' from ?
(2)Also we need to nail this word[s?] ਨੀਂਦ ਦਰਦਾ - Have I got it wrong? Is he saying something else?
(3) What about ਸਣੇਓੜਾ ? Is it possible related to ਸਨੇਹ = love, affection, friendship, attachment, sympathy, tenderness ??
(4) Why do you think it is ਜਾਈਂ ਜਾਈਂ and not ਚਾਈਂ ਚਾਈਂ which is apparently an adjective meaning = cheerfully, eagerly, fervently, warmly
I want us to be technical to an anally retentive extent about the words here, not vague about the meanings. lol. It's my own form of OCD I guess, but it is the best way to really nail the language, so endure!
Storing these words for when we deal with them, great finds man!!
ਕੁੜੱਤਣ - bitterness
ਡਲ਼੍ਹਕ - glitter, shine, sheen, lustre, radiance; pain or fatigue in the eye when exposed to strong light
What you think?
We'll deal with verse 2 after we nail this one. I had a look at your transcription (of verse 2) earlier and it looks good!

What a pu55y. Calling the police over that.
That's what you get for thinking you are white.

I'm just wondering (and I'm not remotely saying or thinking this incident is linked), but what exactly did all those top level naan-cees and all those colonies they established in latin america, get up to? There is no way in hell, given these people's nature that they didn't conspire with others, and tried to influence and form networks.

Just watched this. I don't know whether to laugh or cry at these gorment antiSikh kartootaan. These kuttay don't know when to quit. I want to say to them all:
"I'm sorry, but those days of us being your docile, loyal sepoys is over - the quicker you get that in your thick heads the better."
Good debate, and it's great to see people seeing this underhand and cheap attack on us for what it is.

You can tell by the white boy's miserable face, he's been instructed to do this.
This kind of government crap against Sikhs is nothing knew, they've been obfuscating the grooming issue for decades.
Plus when they start doing this, it's because they are concerned that we are getting united over an issue they'd rather hide away and let fester and grow.
In the end it will blow up in their boothas because it'll just be yet more evidence we can show our community (especially females) of how determined the white establishment is to harm us using their proxies.

Seriously, consider sodding off to Jattworld, you'll get appreciated there by like minded pendus.
You've got a whole forum dedicated to your 'vibe'. Leave Sikh forums for the preservation and discussion of Sikh values/ideas please.

I was looking at the younger generation in my family and I noticed cross caste marriages are a norm now. We now have a broad selection of all, except so called 'low caste'. Once the older generation die out, I doubt anyone will have much objections to this taking place either, as long as the person is respectable.
If using the term bhappa causes yet more internal resentment between Sikhs (which I imagine it to do), then we should refrain from using it.

What about the Sikh 'Khatris' of Panjab proper? Do they have cousin marriage practices?
There needs to be an Akal Takhat edict?

Good to see some mainstream media is finally grasping that SP is a community organisation and not some 'gang' of hoodlums. Great work by the B'ham sangat in supporting this family.

I'm glad but I think the real battle has yet to start. That's one that involves an overhaul of the economy in Panjab to bring it into the 21st century and beyond, and secure a better quality life for all Panjabis.

Anyway, you want to talk about sell outs, look closer to home. Plus, seeing as you're from a Badal supporting family, the mirror is also good.

Don't over-estimate that either. Truth is, when it comes to these things, most people prioritise their own needs over faraway human rights violations. Which is normally only a tool for the west to hypocritically try and batter some opponent on the head with.
