dalsingh101 got a reaction from Soulfinder in Labels and their worth in Sikhi
Khalsa seems strongly associated with a militaristic/martial practices as ordained by dasmesh pita. One that overtly/physically states a Sikh identity. I'm not saying there aren't other Sikh identities but to me it seems as if Guru ji explicitly ordained Khalsa with additional political/military duties over just the spiritual aspect of Sikhi.
That being said, having the external but not really having the internal is pretty shabby and probably one of the greatest root causes of our decline.

The author is deconstructing the Khalsa, Keshdhari, Sahejdhari, Mona system in favor of some we're all just Sikhs mindset. Which is true in private but not in leadership.

Did you not see when jut pockets were about to get hurt (during the kishaan andolaan), peasants had absolutely no problem with welcoming haryani hindu jaats into the quom. The same lot who had murdered and raped countless Sikhs around 84. But apnay peasants were all in a forgiving mood for that when it suited them........lol
Did you not notice as well that India is excelling in tech and moving into arms manufacture whilst our lot have a made a rep for themselves for this:
I work with rural desis (on and off) probably more than all of you. I know what they are like. They aren't the sharpest tools in the box, and achieving your own rule when you're surrounded by more intelligent, highly hostile and better resourced people is beginning to look like a fantasy or some sort of escapism rather than reality.

I think Sikh Youth UK have hit the nail on the head on this: We can be in denial about it, but if you've grown up around certain aspects of rural Panjabi culture, you'd know that alcohol fuelled kick offs do happen. Like around the fringes of melay. Cleaning up events where apnay meet up in droves, so that they can be family friendly and safe is a great idea. But that won't be easy at all because such things are so deeply rooted in strains of our community. It's like our version of what whites do around football. When you're young, going out and seeing kick offs is part and parcel of the event and even makes them seem worth going to - rightly or wrongly.
What is really disturbing is the now undeniably apparent and consistent (and completely false) media narratives around Khalistani bogeymen and Sikh 'gangs' we are all blatantly witnessing. It's a smear campaign with a very evil and insidious objective against the Sikh community.

We don't need cheesy songs to promote that. In my opinion it just reinforces that clownish pendu stereotype.

I'll leave that to the pendu farm boys. I have better taste in music.
