A very good and a very inspirational post, wah wah.

But if I am allowed, I would humbly say that there is one more type of bhakti or love, the one of a Guru and chela, a Gurmukh and a sikh.

And the best examples we have in the lives of our Guru Sahibans. Just for example, Sachay Patshah Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, was the son of Satguru Ram Das Maharaj, but, He did not take Him as a father, but as His Guru.

And so, even being a single moment away from the beloved Satguru, it seems endless in time, and the sikh feels like a fish out of water, means going through hell...

While, when the sikh is in the company of His beloved Satguru....it is like being in ectasy, in a blissful state, he is most happy and fortunate on the surface of the earth.

And this bond is created by the Gurmukh alone, who has attached His sikh with Himself, with His gurparsad, with the tight rope of Nam.

Bhakti of Waheguru, is the highest expresion of Love.
For any other love, be it of a parents for their child, of 2 lovers, of a child for the parents, howsoever high, yet there is maya in it.
For even by giving that much love, there is still separatedness, there are frictions many a times throughout the course of lives.
But is only by loving and devoting ourselves to Waheguru alone, that we get rid of all of our impurities, lose our false individuality, and merge in our beloved, by becoming one with Him.
This oneness with Him, is the best and highest  expression of Love, and apaar kirpa, for if, had He not pull us from within, we would have never even think of Him.

harsharan000 got a reaction from Soulfinder in Interesting correlation between God and light in various world religions....
    Hello Ajay,
welcome. It is true, many religions describe the divnity as  luminous energy, just as you mention in your post above.
But as we all know, lights have different  intensities.
For example, we have a candle light, a tube light, a 20 watts bulb, or even a 100 watts one, just to mention a few sources...
So, if the creator is for example like a Sun, then we souls having emanted from Him, are just as rays of that Sun.
And just as all rays are the same, each one of them carrying the same light, the same heat.... in that sense, we all souls are same, above any barriers such as genders, classes, caste, dharam, mazab, color, race, etc  etc and etc ....the list is endless.
In Gurbani, in the Aarti, we come to know something on this respect: Sabh meh jot, Jot hae soee
Which means, His light is in everything, He Himself is the Light.
Other thing is, as per our own different karmas, we are born in different cultures, in different countries, in different religions,  different races...etc
But all these conditions are outer aspects, which differ  in each birth  of  the chaurasee  ka chakar .... and yet the stupids, and profoundly mentally disabled, create conflicts among themselves, hatred, thirst for blood,  by killing whosoever do not think alike ...utter madness, and yet they call themselves spiritually adavnced or gyanis, or even the priest class people.
Mostly all look at the different sizes and colors of the boxes, and make classifications/discriminations, as per those outer aspects, which are temporary and perishable, and yet, the essence of Truth in them all as souls, is the same in all.
Such a pity, blinds commiting attrocities and unjustice.
Almost everybody forgets that, nobody is better or superior to anyone else.
It is just that by their own past karam, and in accordance with the Law of Nature, (as you sow, so shall you reap),each one as said above, is born in different envoirements, such as color, caste, gender, nationality, dharam or mazab.....
All this is done strictly and carried under the universal law of karma. Nobody can alter it, nor bribe nature.
Religious scriptures are full of references and examples, to this one law.
In the Bible it says: even the hair on your body is numbered. (Nothing happensjust like that).
In the Bani we read: Aapay beejeh, aapay khaaey.( You sow, you reap and eat).

Going back to the point of Light as divinity mentioned in different religions, it could be well said, as all beings are also light, whether devis, devtays, incarnations, gods, godesses, angels...etc, absolutley all beings carry the light of their origin.
Some beings have less or almost no stain of karmas, thus they are purer, their glass covering is not so dirty, so in them the light or purity shines more... some are heavy sinners, their glass covering is so dirty, that there is absolute darkness, ignorance, no morality in them .... and so on.... yet in the very depth of all of them, the flame of the divine is the same in all, no less, no more, no partiality.

Moreover, in the infinite creation  all beings are like stars in the  sky, yet  there is one Infinite Sun also, absolutley brilliant,  full of refulgence, full of mercy, full of Love.
And refering to the Light of this Highest Consciousness, Supreme and eternal Truth, Gurbani tells us:
Je Sau Chanda Ugveh Sooraj  Chareh Hazaar , Ete Chanan Hundeya(n) Gur Bin Ghor Andhar.
If a hundred moons were to rise, and a thousand suns appeared, even with such light, there would still be pitch darkness without the Guru. And this Guru, is no other than the Aad Guru, or call it Satnam, or Waheguru also. Ooch apaar, beant Soami.

So you see, each one talks of light as divinity as per their own reach or level of consciousness. According to their escalated heights,  that they view that light and took it as ultimate reality.
But in Gurbani, Guru Sahiban, Bhagat Jan, Gurmukhs, Sant Jan, having witnessed the refulgence and Light of that Supreme Being, Parbrahm Parmeshwar, namely Akal Purukh, Waheguru or Satnam; describe and share with us, the majesty, the  inmensity, the akhoot Jot,  of that One Universal Supreme Power.
You see, there is a vast difference between these Purest Beings: Guru Sahiban, Sant Jan, Gurmukhs, and the rest of the beings, howsoever prophets or endless list of gods there may be.
While the former, see only the Jot of Waheguru in all, thus unite humanity as equal, and give the gift of His bhakti to all alike;  the limited blind ones, divide and discriminate, thus remain prisoners in the mayavee creation.
If have any chances, just dive deep into the Bani, and savour the  Amrit of Nam contained in it, for the ultimate purpose of blending into that Anhad Bani as one without distinction.
    Stay blessed.
    Sat Sree Akal.

    Talking about the Light form of that one Supreme and Highest Truth, such as Naam, Satnam, Waheguru or Akal Purukh;
found the following 2 utmost beautiful and truly universal messages in the Bani for all mankind, and any living/consciouss beings :
    ਨਾਨਕ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਣਾ ਆਪਨ ਭਾਵਨ ਕਰੀਆ
Naanak Thaakur Sarab Samaanaa Aapan Bhaavan Kareeaa
O Nanak, the Lord and Master is contained amongst all; He does just as He pleases.
    and
    ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਈ ॥
Poor Rehiaa Ghatt Ghatt Abinaasee Thhaan Thhananthar Saaee ||
The Imperishable Lord is permeating and pervading each and every heart; He is in all places and interspaces.

*We can see, how Guru Jee tells us that, that formless and eternal  Lightful Truth, is contained in all, and there is no such place where He is not.
He is not limited  nor is a copyright to any particular tribe, geographical zone, country, race, or nationality, He is present even in those who acknowledge Him not and deny Him, yet He is present in all, thus,  our consciouss state as souls.
Bodies are fanah, perishable. It is by the one ray of  His Light, His akhoot Jot,  present in that body, which makes us consciouss and sentient living beings, throughout the Chaurasee ka chakar.
The teachings of Guru Sahiban and Bhagat Jan, are universal, for they see the Jot of  One Waheguru in all, though howsoever deluded and ignorant many could be, and as said before, the validity and truth imparted by Guru Sahiban may be rejected or not acepted by many, yet is the only universal Truth.
it is only, that due to their individual or collective destinies, due to their own karam, their time has not come yet to know and understand Him.
But, that does not change their inner reality, which is, that each and every soul, is His ray, His jeev atma.
    Stay blessed.

So no need for any other practices or namaaz, for in the devotional meditation on Him, we get there where He is, right within us . Any other practice  apart of meditating on Him keeps us outside and away from him, howsoever popular and historical could those practices be.

I suppose when we look at the author of such praises of the infinite, we some what need to look at that persons actions and how they lived.
Listening or repeating gods praises/works from other elevated human/jeevs etc is what most 'seekers' do...
IMO seekers need to look at the actions of an individual and see if it is worth reciting their words (of expression) to get closer to 'god'..
Look at prophet Mohamed's actions and way of living, should one want to recite/listen to his praises of allah to get closer to.'god'??
Look at Baba Nanaks life,  would.you want to recite his word/s??
Look at Guru Arjuns life and his action, would you recite his words??
Gobind Singh Ji.. ?? You get the drift?..
So answer to the original question in my understanding is, do what the admin cut you want.
Real question is.. why would a 'sikh' do the namaz??

Another big slap on the face of 'Singhs'..besti man.
Fair play to the sullah.. i mean analyzing the actual combat seems like the burglars were weak and unskilled. Also the sullah was just looking for the 'one pop'... having said that you have to respect and appreciate the sullas reaction and mind state. They could have easily been carrying a gun or machete, but my man went road lol...
Lets be honest 90% of amridhadaris would have folded in such a situation in my opinion. That phuket situation, i mean.. unless someone can enlighten me, it seems like the Norwegian guy had no marks from a physical altercation. Now did this Singh do a bollywood battle cry whereby he told his mrs to save herself.. 'apnee jaan bachoa'..then got battered to death...

Listen, on a serious note...i get it..most amritdharis/Singhs have the same desire as your average working man..  you work hard and you want to go to nice restaurants and nice holidays that your fellow work colleagues also go to..
The Phukets, Budapest, rome fuking miami whatever..... what 'Singhs' need to take into consideration is that there is a global war on the image of a Singh by very ignorant people. In their ignorance they will attack you (most likely in groups or just intoxicated men, angry men.. like the Norwegian bodybuilder, probably drunk, coked up and defo on tje juice aswell)...
Especially UK Singhs, dont be naive into thinking only because the average gora in UK( predominantly main cites.like.london bham manc) can differentiate between sikh muslim and hindus, its the same globally.. its not..
And dont forget, especially the 90's born.. as much as our older generation were simpletons, they battled the bnp nazi pricks...(well at least the people i know)
Going back to that Singh in Phuket, i mean simple silat moves with a small knife would have his hamstrings in all sorts of trouble, or some simple bjj locks man... thats just the practical... the 'tyar bar tyar' mentality is what you need to work on really and then leave it in maharajs hands...

    My 2 cents:
Hell No!, I won't say much but Sikhi path is much superior path than islam, christianity, buddhism, hinduism, judaism? How do i know this? I tried to study them, everything goes back how superior sikhi and rips through other religions is Bhai gurdas ji says- sikhi is highway path and mukh bhagti , hirde gyan.
Based on my understanding, Lets see how much daily blessing Guru Nanak Dev Nirankar sikhi gives to sikh
Japji sahib ensues Bhramgyan-  for example Bij mantar, maha mantar, mool mantar, sunan, manan , nidashasan pauri, aporakh , porakh gyan,  mahavaks, 5 khands
Jaap sahib- akaal ustati for example- jiv bhram ekta- achal morat anubhav parkash amitoj khijee, sada sachda anand
Tav Parsad swaie- Jin Prem kiyo tin hi prabh payeo
Chaupi sahib- protection of sikhi, sikh and panth
Anand sahib - Naam mehima and jiv mukhti anand bani
Rehras sahib- ustat of akaal purkh- sarab nirantar - Too(n) ghatt ghatt antar sarab nirantar jee har ayko purakh samaanaa
Kirtan sohila- eka jot updesh, superiority of Kalyug mein kirtan pardhana, kirtan preference over che gur - six ideology of sanatanic dharma
    Then
    More daily blessing
Mool mantar abhyas and Vahiguru mantar naam simran, das granthi gutka - beant banis
So much blessing and anand may dhur ki bani, sikh shouldn't have time to look anywhere else then top of free- seva and free langar, what else do you guys want?

the science offers goodness, it is we the people who use it for bad purposes.
For example like a knife, one can use it to cut vegeatbles to prepare food, while in a bad way some use it to harm others.
Science by itself can never be bad, it is the misuse of it, that is bad, and makes the world worse.

Kal is no independent being by itself.
He is a servant of Akal Purukh, and who under His Hukum, is administrating the triloki creation. All gods, prophets, incarnations, are his creations, his messengers to keep the creation going on, until, it is His mauj, to pack up the creation and abosorb all and everything into Him, just as in the initial stage.
But while, the creation can go on for Yugas after Yugas, yet by His apaar kirpa, according to Gurbani,  if anyone holds on only to just His one Nam (here no chaturaee, no rituals, no nonsense , or cheatings);  then one can get up lifted from this mayavee perishable creation and reach Nijh Ghar of Sach Khand.
