  1. Thank you. Lucky jee. Perhaps you are right and will follow the advice.
  2. Dear Sanggatji is this ajapa jap when simran of waheguru starts automatically without my awareness, that is, I am in my thoughts unrelated to simraan eg working, driving etc. It is fast simraan. Does not follow the flow of breath or others rituals. But once i focus on the simraanI will stay for short while listening then I am off to my thoughts. I feel the simraan is coming from the above my throat. Sometimes when I swallowed my saliva I realized that Simraan is ongoing and I remembered Sat1176ji mentioned previously about sweet saliva during simraan. It is not saliva but more like phlegm (coming from above the throat). Sometimes if do with mouth open (breathing through mouth) the simraan is very rapid. note: the Simraan sometimes come at unexpected time and place eg when one is doing toileting. I have to stop the simraan as I was told it is not clean. Sometimes right after sex, very rapid. Thus my question is, is the example above 'ajapa jap"? if it is what I am suppose to do next when the simraan start? What is next level to do. please help.
  3. I have been following the principles of "char pandarath" as path of my life philosophy for many years now. I believe that this Shabads from Sukhmani sahib is for practical living. Thus my definition for Char pandarath ( as I had read somewhere many years ago) is akin to one doing ardas to Waheguru seeking his blessing. My definition as per doing ardas are :- a. to seek Oneness with Waheguru. I seek for naam simraan that enable us to be "ek.." b.to bless me with Absolute Faith in Waheguru. That I will not weaver. That I have faith that HE will deliver. Similar to Law of Attraction. c. Fulfillment of one desire. let your desire known to Him. Once done that be detach. avoid moh. d. to be in or one being in abundance: be it in assets or naam, business results, sales etc. (satisfaction) The above definition "may" have been modified as to my own experiences as life progress or change. To achieve the above pandaraths then One must do :- "Sadh jana ki, seva lage ||" I used to believe as what the above threads have defined that sadh are spiritual enlightenment souls. In fact i used to do the sewa for certain Babas but I was not getting any "ummmps" feeling for the pandarat as I define above. Then one day it just occurred when I combine with Guruji 'wand ke sankana' that the sadh here means anyone that I came into contact daily be it family, neighbours, clients, etc by providing value into their life. Value is something beyond my normal duty or roles. Value here means we share ( or "wand") with someone that he really appreciate it. As saying in Sikhi " sab wich Waheguru vasanda" therefore everybody is a Sadh. Thus this my definition and part of practical living.
  4. 'The author of this article.." that means you, amar_jkp?

  6. RagnarokJi, I agree with you on this debate. I had difficult time in interpreting gurbani shabads. I used to reads gurbani and it english translation eg from Manmohan Singh's version. The word like 'Lord and Master" do confused a beginner like me then. I was looking at gurbani on waheguru attributes from the english version of translation to understand my gurbani. Why can't we use the word Waheguru for the english translation instead of Lord Master. Case in point is there is difference in interpretation of the word "ALLAH" among the Muslim and the Christian in Malaysia. a Very Brief Factual Background it has been sometimes now that the the non-Muslim in Malaysia cannot uses the word 'Allah". Meanwhile the Christian are upset about it as they are using the word "Allah" in their malay- language bible for the local who can't speak other language ie. chinese, tamil or english. Malay is an official language for Malaysia and majority of them who speak this language are malay who are muslim. However there are other indigenous people from the state of Sabah and Sarawak (Borneo) who are christian but speak malay language. The Christian Church prepares bible and other publication in malay and refer to God as 'Allah". (actual malay word for God is "Tuhan"). The Muslim objected on this matter. The Government have siezed the bibles and had banned publication of christian journals as it contained the word "Allah". The Christian are upset and told the authorities that the word Allah had been used by the Christians in Arab for thousand of years and both in Indonesia and Malaysia for many years. However, the Muslim on the other hand argued among others that the word Allah used by the Muslim refer to one Supreme God. When a Muslim pray to Allah he think of that One Allah with all the attributes as in Quran and Hadith. However for Christian, the Muslim argued, their concept of God is trinity, that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit that is not as same as the Muslim interpretation of Allah. It is simply Allah. the meaning "Lord" in Christian world refer to Jesus and Allah is not Jesus but prophet. Thus if allow by the Christian to do so it will cause confusion among the muslim. Back to our Topic: the reason I brought up the above facts is to illustrate as what mentioned by Ragnarok:- Sikhs today are obsessed with inserting abrahamic-style dogma into Sikhism. Discuss. People are always going on about 'right & wrong', using 'where is it written' as an argument, our translations are all pushing an agenda by adding words that were not there in the original text, speaking of 'Lord & God' and referring to this 'God' in the context of 'His' being an imaginary buffoon in the sky interfering with and involved with our everyday lives yet separate from us á la Christianity and Islam. Why the ignorance? Why the obsession with using misleading words which only work in an Abrahamic context? Those of us who understand the original word can fill in the gaps but the uneducated 'yoof' can read only the english and can understand only in an Abrahamic context. Case in point the translation and the meaning of "Waheguru". Many times I have seen that many Sikhs' writers try his best to explain the meaning of Waheguru. Their explanation or translation accommodating and pleasing the readers of different faiths. If the writer is in western world his definition and translation will be tend to lean more to Abrahamic way of interpretation eg Lord and Master. If he is in India then the translation of the word will be more toward hindunazation such as Parbrahams, Parmathma etc. Why can we introduced the word Waheguru or Ek Ong kaar as meaning of God as stated by Ragnarok " The first line in Guru Sahib is 'Ik Onkar'. That contains all the knowledge you need to know. There is only one. There is no 'you' or 'me', all 'creation' is illusion. A tree or a bucket or a dog or a human; ultimately there is no difference. There is only one. this bring back to my topic on interpretation of "Allah" as by the Muslim. They are very strict that the word Allah must be uttered and used by Muslim. This because only Muslim knew the actual interpretation of the Allah from Quran and Hadidt. The christian just corrupt the word Allah into trinity. Similarly as Sikh we just translate as how a Sikh understand from the meaning as explain by Guru ji in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and others Granths. Be srtict as how Muslim insist to use the word God with Allah in their interpretation and translation. Otherwise the Sikh child whose exposure to western understanding of Christianity or hinduism from India will interpret banies from Christian or hinduism point of view to understand gurbani. ).
  7. From the mouth of my Satcha Patshah Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to my ancestor while listening to Guruji Maharaj katha on that one evening in Punjab. No where else. My ancestor only understand that my Guru ji call him "Sikho...". My ancestor was not interested to know why or where did the word Sikh came from. He was excited that Guru ji Maharaj called him "mera gursikho...." He did not have time to sit and pondered what is sikh but was immersed in love with Guruji vicchar on that day and become a gursikh. So the word Sikh came from the Guru to his student in Punjab.
  8. thanks Satji. Veerji voice can really make one go into bharaig even though I am busy preparing my work and not 100% listening to the shabad.
  9. At last Malaysian sanggat are able to watch this movie starting from tomorrow. thanks to Malaysian Gurdawara Councils and Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia.
  10. One can watch it happening in tv series eg Zee Tv. A sikh family doing haavan, arti, karuvvha chaut and praying to a idol. to top on that the more juicy one is shown during rehraas time.
  11. Interestingly the same sign/design in gurmuki is also found in the danger sign in Malaysia. Thanks to Sher for the "Bohat'. I thought some chinaman sign-maker had corrupted some alien language with punjabi..
  12. I am 49 years plus and I do not have tooth decay or any of the tooth problems... ( yet) . My diet is is normal punjabi malaysian diet and I am addicted to 'teh tarik' a sweetned condensed Milk tea. Therefore I am entitle to speak my remedy, which could be none of the above suggestion, for a strong healthy teeth and a strong gums with a half century experience :- a. having a bad habit of grinding teeth but not regular.( this could strengthen the gums and the teeth); b. was doing weights (body building); c. using hard bristle( or medium hard,) while brushing my teeth after breakfast , this brushing is done with medium force when the hand push the brush against the teeth/gums. I guess the force strengthen it. d. being using one brand of toothpaste only since I remember..when I was 3 years old.
  13. what is your time for an amritvela? my workable suggestion:- 1. drink a lot of water an hour before sleeping... later after midnight you need to discharge the water ... 2. sleep 6 hours before the desire time with light dinner preferably before 7 and low on carbs. 3. if next to mosque .. the azan do help. 4. put the alarm clock or phone in the bathroom or out of the bedroom door. 5. as you lay on your bed just tell your mind absolutely and playfully that I want to get up at x am; and if all the above failed, do ardas to Waheguru that purpose of getting up and while doing ardas must not have a slight drop of doubt.
  14. Dear Lunalon, This is my very brief opinion, answering from a different angle. The answer is WITHIN your self. What problems do I face? What goals do I desire? Your Self is your consciousness [ it is at your command] If you feel that what you desire is selfish [ it is for your own purpose [and does not come within the Wand ke shaakana] your ardas or faith is definitely not 100% as you may have doubt of the achieving the goal, resulting the "prayers" not being " appreciated". So if one has problems or desire[ TASK] for something, then have an absolute faith ( do not let a drop of doubts or indecisive) that the task has been or being completed by your Creator/Lord Master. Show your gratitude to Waheguru for placing you in the said circumstances that allow you to perform the task ( doing it frequently) . Once you done it believe that it will be done and move on and act as it is. Now in the beginning you will feel that people will think you are selfish. Remember ,this is your feeling and your conscious [ from past memory recording is playing to you]. Ignore this. What you are doing is creating a new self image, self respect and self esteem for your self . As you keep thanking Waheguru for His grace and resolving your problems simultaneously you increase your Faith in Lord. As Harsharan said you may stop calling it selfish as you are moving toward One ( this is Japji Sahib's 5 Khand come into play) . Your own result will show you whether your "prayers" is being appreciated. "seek Within and not without". Combine your task/problems or desire with your Simraan during," amritvela sach naa-o vadi-aa-ee veechaar" . The veechaar here means to me as praising Him for gratitude for He has been giving and giving. It will sound flimsy in the beginning or guilty or selfish but soon later you will realized that this is a visualization with His grace. The word selfish will just whittle away.
  15. it is the education that have been instill during the childhood to accept the "teaching". Eg. in Muslim, women , it have been taught that a child must not be disobedience (derhaka) to their parents. Similarly a wife must not be disobedience to her husband. the punishment will be that her prayers will not be accepted by God. Her place afterlife will be in hellfire. These kind of "education" are been taught repetitively over until it become part of the subconscious mind. I had an employee, a lawyer, who was told to accept her husband desire to have a second wife. If she does she will be rewarded with golden umbrella at next life while waiting for judgment day. She was willing to accept due to the teaching. She find nothing wrong with the husband request. That's their teaching and acceptance, nothing wrong until a liberal thinker tell these women it is wrong and disturb the paradigm! How can this be explained?
  16. in Japji Sahib / Mool Mantra context, the word 'Gur" is it referring to Guru or Waheguru Himself. To me when I read the whole mool mantra I feel the word refer to Guruji who through a Guru (his kirpa) that we will meet Waheguru. Am I right?
  17. Convert1ji, as new convert, How was your fasting during the ramdhaan month? how was the experince? did you miss any? Are you doing the 5 prayers daily. I hope you didn't forget your zakat. Please do tell. Anyhow wishing you salam aidl fitri.
  18. Yes seen the trend is changing here in Malaysia too. As for fixxo, as professional living in a country where majority of the people can't grow a beard especially dealing with the chinese, one must keep "neat" with fixxo. Use fixxo that had been blend with aloe vera, it has little "that" smell.
  19. Fruitarian is a term that I coined referring to eating fruits from a tree. Yes you can pluck the fruit from the tree itself. Here the Tree want you to spread her seeds and in return she reward you with a nutrition fruits. [Just like the master feed the dog for a reward!] Wonder who is the dog. I am vegetarian for the last 6 years. Within 3 years become diabetic ( 29!), high triglycerides, belly from 33 inches to 38 (in 2 years) and now hovering between 42 to 43 inches. and having angina. breathlessness, slow, can't pick up things from the floor and mata tekh... just loved the mata tekhing and wish guru ji lift me up! Before being a vegetarian, I was active, able to getting up at amritvela, exercising & weights, etc. Diet consist of tuna fish, white eggs, meat. Currently toying with the idea whether shall I revert to meat eating (high protein low carb/no carb diet). However the only thing that is putting stop is whether one will loose the auto-naam simraan and certain babae had put a fear, "eat and you suffer now and afterlife" . wonder which is important: remain a vegetarian and suffer your body ( which give mental stress and unpeace spirit) or eat meat and suffer in your after life?
