Please don't assume that people who try to do jaap with aid are not practicing Gurbani in their life. Sikhi is in chakkar because people have closed their mind, rather than experiencing and then saying it does not work, we go around saying oh you fool stop doing this. Your whole argument is not even necessary, let people do what they want to do. All of us are explaining you the meaning of Mala but you are going towards calling Sikhs of Baba nand Singh ji Rather than Sikhs of Maharaj.
I will explain you again with personal example. I have had my hands in all sort of religion, spirituality and yes even in occult knowledge. I recently got interested in Sikhi and still I have no problem playing with other Ideas as long as they are not making me go away from Love. I was driving myself insane with learning new weird crap all the time and was being drained out like crazy. So I found peace in Sikhi,  When I started dong Path, I read two type of people's opinion. One would say do this many Paaths In a month a and other will go noooo don't!! That's brahmanvad. remember Vaheguroo 24/7, but it's hard. Like whole day would go by and I would say oh no I did not remember Vaheguroo. So I started lostening to first group and started making a Goal. That way I started doing a lot of Path and my focus on bad stuff started decreasing. I still set a goal beaches because IF I DONT SET A GOAL, I waste time watching and reading useless stuff. So counting is my way to make sure I remember Vaheguroo at least few hours a day since I am not blessed yet to do it 24/7.
And I don't need to know why there is an ankar underneath the shabad Vaheguroo, intelligence and mat is not needed, Love and feelings are. I don't know why we are making everything so complicated.
Also, Kabeer ji started with Mala too and eventually he crossed that stage and graduated from stage. Other people on this forum have graduated from that stage too and some of us are on this Grade.
I am actually grateful about the contents Sikhs are discussing on this Forum, I am happy that we have a lot of open minded Sikhs on this forum who are not so strict with Sikhi that they are against everything else.  Don't throw everything away saying its brahmanvad, have an open mind, experience and if that does not work for yI find alternative.
My pahpa ji always say deg deg key vaddey hoyida, nothing is futile on this planet. Everything is there to teach you something. I believe in learning from my Failures since that's how universe taught me :(.. Oh well lol.
Do you do Naam simran 24/7? Like you don't need any aid? No Gutka sahib ji? No timing for simran? Genuine questions, I wanna know how it works for you. I will learn something.

This is a good thing. Play with it and push it higher, so that you are located even higher off the ground. Or try to lower yourself. Push and pull, go in different direction. Can you tilt that to the left or right without moving your body? Can you expand it so that it is bigger? or shrink down to a smaller size? Stuff like that.

Have you noticed how kids can sit in a sandbox for hours and hours?
Meditation is a sandbox. The key is to play and have fun with it.

Dont be scared of the rug..Its your own fear holding you back, free fall is the best feeling ever. You should let it go and enjoy the ride :)
Dont sit on bed, use the rug...who knows it is magical like aladdins carpet, will take you places .)
dw, enjoy the feelings and explore, dont fear. you are not going to fall anywhere.

You should really sit with your hip-bones higher than your knees.
Use a couple of cushions to do this, even if you are sitting on the bed.

You should be able to manage a lot longer periods.
On good days, I can manage about 3 hrs quite easily, providing I stretch major leg muscles before hand.

If you get pain in your buttocks and legs, and are unable to keep a straight back , do the glute bridge exercise. It really has helped me with the stiffness of back and I am able to sit longer than previously. It provides a good stretch for back, and hip flexors. Everyday we use hip extensors especially during sitting which makes iliopsoad muscle stiff. Working the hip flexors will be a good exercise. Give it a try.

Sitting in bagkti for 3 hrs in not a childs play. I've heard from mahapurkh that you need to keep jat sat. Celibacy is really important in this path. Then the veeraj become the form of oil to keep the bhagti going for long time as celibacy and dedication is required for on to sit for long time.

Within 5 minutes of sitting, I can notice how my thighs are still and touching the ground. I notice how my spice is stable and like a pipe with stuff flowing up. Then few minutes in, the attention goes to breath. Then I become aware of the continuous ringing that is happening all the time, I just became aware of it as I am typing because I thought about ringing lol.
Awareness of breath & awareness of this ringing sound seem to be connected....
And then I feel I have shrunken and sitting in forehead for a short time...
However, this does not last more than 20 minutes, because body wants to move around..& then stillness is gone..
just sharing some random thoughts....  this is only my 4th day in this 20 min stillness meditation. and i do silent japa of moolmantra in mouth during these 20 mins.

Where do you learn this stuff...this one is quite amazing I have to say. What are your secret sources lol
What you said above also reminds me about a Shabad by Bhagat Kabir ji where he gives examples of being a stone on road, and then being a dust, not satisfied with that being water , and not satisfied with all three, being like Hari himself only. Maybe that is also similar to transformations in ones journey.

Sure brother, i'm attaching the screenshots. My personal opinion on 'pavan guru' is that the Guru wanted to attack personhood (the feeling that we are identical with our bodies, or that we ARE our bodies) which creates selfishness, cowardice and egotistical behaviour, so the Guru always emphasized on distinct parts which make up a person. So we have
    ਦੇਹੀ ਮਾਟੀ ਬੋਲੈ ਪਉਣੁ ॥
The body is dust; the wind speaks through it.
    ਬੁਝੁ ਰੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮੂਆ ਹੈ ਕਉਣੁ ॥
Understand, O wise one, who has died.
As we all know voice of human beings is generated through the flow of air from the lungs to the larynx. So essentially it's the air that is speaking. So Pavan is Guru because it is only through Pavan that the Gurshabad is emerging.

Another way to think about gross and subtle, is to look at it in terms of impressions.
Imagine you are at the gross level, at the earth level. You are like clay, so whenever there is a negative experience, someone presses in to the clay, it leaves an impression in the clay and it stays for a long time, thus you suffer more.
As you progress spiritually, you become water. When there is a negative experience, someone throws a rock into the water, there are ripples, but they pass away more quickly.
As you progress spiritually, you become air. Where there is a negative experience, someone waves their hand, the air moves but settles back almost immediately. Thus negative experiences, do not stick to air.
As your progress spiritually and become Hari, ether-like, pure space, pure void. Nothing makes any ripples or sticks. There is no impressions.
It's a way of thinking about it.

(Impressions also mean attachment. To be without attachment is to be without any impressions on you. To not hold onto anything.
Impression is a metaphor for that which shakes you. The more gross you are, the more you shaken when there is trouble. The more subtle you are, the less you shake.)

As this topic is quiet sensitive, especially for uk sikhs, i was contemplating whether or not to reply to this thread. But i feel the need to as in another thread i have given a bravado speech which may arouse some sikhs, more so the youth. I stick by what i said before and still say pappu sikhs need to man up, like really need to grow a pair..
Here's the big but....Though this grooming shit is real and spreading like a disease there are many cases where girls are f**kin with paki boys and when girls parents find out they play the grooming card..and blackmail card..watch out for these tricks..
so just a heads up for anyone with josh wanting to take seva of fighting this thing, as in my experience, the biggest culprits in this game is our own sikh community. So just use your head and not end up like these leicester boys who got sent down and when they come out cannot get a job because of their criminal record.. F**k the sikh community even the girls family who you protected aint gonna help you.. i know many singhs who got sent down for helping out and no one gave a sh1t ...
hosh before josh...Be wise people...rabb rakha

Yes, a dumb/guunga/mute makes this sound from the back of the mouth.
Most definitely helps with vibrating energy in  all inner organs, that will help promote overall well-being.

We practice it in this very manner in yoga class.
The yogi bhajhan info posted by das explains it well. We actually call it "tuning in" when the whole class does the ong and we chant Ong namo, guru dev namo,  In kundalini yoga they call it the Adi mantra/primal mantra. ....and like Bhagat said above, it is the primal sound,... the begning , the Aad.
Just to add, I can say that when the whole class does it together, you really feel the vibration and it's power. The energy from the resonance is so strong that after I'm tuned in, I can elongate my breath for so long holding a single not like an opera singer!  ... and seriously, I'm no real singer at all and neither can I hold notes with raags for too long.   This physical vocal affect ONLY happens in class, because when I try it by myself at home, it's nowhere near the same.
I do reckon that in terms of the science of the ong vibration, it has a direct stimulation going vertically upwards to your pineal gland and into the center of our mind's universe, ..the cave of brahma,,,..seat of the soul.

Interesting what you mention about the right side ear because this side and also the right eye is associated with Solar enrgy and the sun. A number of gurbani references are made to this. However, there is also another yogic moon and sun association and that is shown in diagram as behind the bindu and with the lunar on the anterior. Moon-Sun energy is also labelled as Yin-Yang, Shiv-Shakti, cooling-warming, ...etc.

I can't be the only one who learned this in Punjabi class.

    Rule #1
Never put a bindi or tippi on ਓ
This is just how it is.
Have you ever wondered why ੴ doesn't have a bindi or tippi in it? Knowing that the bindi/tippi is crucial, why didn't Guru Sahibs add it?
Answer - This is because of Rule #1.

    Rule #2
Whenever ਅ is at the end of a word, it is not pronounced.
Unless it has a vowel attached. Where there is no vowel, then each case is a special case.
In case of word ਓਅੰ , the ਅ is omitted altogether. (ਓਅੰਕਾਰ just means elongated ਓਅੰ )
    You don't pronounce the ਅ.
It's kind of similar to the word ਜੀਅ, you don't pronounce the ਅ.
"But I do pronounce the ਅ in ਜੀਅ."
Well you are not supposed too. The ਅ here is important but not for the reasons people think. You are not supposed to say jee - uh, that's two syllables. ਜੀਅ is not two syllables, it's 1 syllable.
However the ਅ in ਜੀਅ and other words that end in ਅ, like ਭਇਅੰ and ਪ੍ਰਿਅੰ are a different than ਓਅੰ. In these words - ਜੀਅ and ਭਇਅੰ ਪ੍ਰਿਅੰ - the ਅ is not simply placeholder for a tippi but rather something else.
For now just know that it's not an ਅ and should not be pronounced as an ਅ.

    ਸੋਹੰ is different. It's has a ਹ and it's two syllables.

Which leads us to rule #3.
    Rule #3
    ਓਅੰ is one syllable.
(which should actually be Rule #1 hehe)

    I'll repeat.
    ਓਅੰ is 1 syllable
Have you wondered why ੴ does not have a ਅ in it?
Because it is One Syllable. Not two.
It is because the ਅ is only used to spell it out. If the ਅ was important it would be in the symbol.
ਓ <--------can't put a tippi on this, cannot write ਓਂ
ਅ <--------add in a silent placeholder and add tippi to that
    ਓਅੰ

Have you ever wondered why there is an ੧ in front of ਓ?
It means it is one syllable.
The extended wave on ਓ means it is a continuous syllable.

One Continuous Syllable, that is what ਓਂ is.

The way people mispronounce is as ਓ - ਅੰ, that is not 1 syllable.
ਓਅੰ should be 1 continous syllable. This is important for recognizing its meaning.
    But more on that later.

Let me know if you have any questions so far.
