  1. Mithar differences between Banda Singh Bahadur and other Singhs were not because of meat but when Banda Singh set himself up as the Guru, Twarikh Gur Khalsa provides good insight into the escaltion of the situation and the reason for the conflicts between the Singhs and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
  2. Lets not forget that Baba Banda Ji was nearly 40 years old when he met Maharaj and had been living the life of a celebate ascetic up until now, would it not be considered strange for him to then get married?
  3. Your use of the term employed caused confusion.
  4. Kindly name one Nihang Singh jathedar who has ever used the term sanatan. What oral traditions and maryadas are you referring to? Im sure this wont be difficult as you have stated that you information is factual.
  5. Mithar, unfortunately it was nothing like that. Mahant Ala Singh came to see Baba Prehlada Singh, as Baba Prehlada Singh went to embrace Ala Singh, the latter drew a concealed sword and thrust it into the Jathedar. Baba Prehalda Singh managed to kill Ala Singh for his treachory before himself breathing his last. Mahant Ala Singh was a pujari at Hazoor Sahib. I have never heard of any Nirmala involvement in this episode which is why I am asking the author the clarify the information he has presented.

  7. With regards to: http://neo-sikhism.blogspot.com/2008/11/ni...ontroversy.html Kamalroop Singh writes; "At Hazur Sahib there is a Shrine where the Nirmala jathedar and Buddha Dal Jathedar, who was then the Jathedar of the Akal Takht, had a battle and both got Shahid. The leader of Buddha Dal, who at that time was the Jathedar of the whole Panth, had an armed battle with the Nirmala leader, as the Nirmale had sided with the invaders, the British, and their allies, the so called Maharaja of Patiala." The only Budha Dal Jathedar to attain Shaheedi at Hazoor Sahib was Jathedar Baba Prehlada Singh who was killed by Mahant Ala Singh, are you saying Ala Singh had ties to the Nirmala Samprada?
  8. Neo perhaps worthwhile creating a new thread regarding the use of Hindu icons in teaching Gurmat?
  9. Das, The Jhatka does take place outside the main complex at Hazoor Sahib - not at some other place, as the video clearly showws. Pracchin Panth Parkash by Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangu Shahid holds various accounts of when maharaj ordered the Singhs to perform Jhatka. You will find similar references in many of our historical texts. Did maharaj used to go hunting on their own or with their fauj? The 6th Gurus and 10th Guru were keen hunters and their fauj has carried on this tradition - if people have problem with this they should take it up with maharaj - end of story.

  12. Kam veera, if I remember correctly is it Sant Jagjit Singh in one of his videos that narrates the following sakhi; that once a Singh was doing nishan sahib seva and he fell off and died, Baba Sohan Singh (Bidhi Chand Dal) said that a balli was needed and ordered that a bakra be jhatka, after the jhatka the Singh that fell from the nishan sahib came back to life. Im syre its Sant Jagjit Singh that says this in one of the videos on Gurmatveechar where hes sittiing next to Baba Daya Singh of Bidhi Chand Dal. Of the various Sants and Gianis that have spoken about Jhatka I personally find Giani Thakur Singhs mention of it in his asa di var katha as the best. He manages to give a fairly objective view of the maryada which unfortunately many Sants do not do with a tendency of ccompletely overlooking the various historical evidence that Jhatka is a Guru ordained martial tradition.
