  1. Amazing pictures... at the same time, i wish the shardalus hadn't tiled up everything like that, can't even imagine how it would have looked back in Babaji's time.
  2. don't worry, it's just a painting notice how the first pic shows no earings
  3. i wonder what soul resides in each of those birds.
  4. i highly respect balpreet singh, but i think he should have been discreet with his srisahib (and possibly go with a smaller size)...at the end of the day, we have to take this kirpan issue bit by bit to make it acceptable, it won't happen with 3 foot kirpans right off the bat. first we need to get acceptance of having the right to carry 6 and 9 inch kirpans.....once Canadians have been given time to digest that much, then we can move on to bigger and sharper sir sahibs this is why Guruji tells us to understand Rajneeti (politics)...(highly ironic since the singh is a law student). we can't go charging into this kirpan debate which is a battle even more difficult than the turban. our parents generation fought for the turban, i think our generation will have to fight for the kirpan. but i don't want to slate balpreet singh, he's our brother and we need to keep his back. he's just trying to impress our father, Guru Gobind Singh ji.
  5. cocunut symbolizes the offering of one's life (specifically, giving one's head). the 5 paisey symbolize the offering of the wealth of all the worlds. forget what tilak symbolized
  6. the akali in the middle...is he wearing a cape?
  7. Just curious... 1. what are Dr Sangat Singh's sources? 2. when exactly would these "dying words" have been said, and to whom? But I agree with others, cursing is not a good thing, especially after 21 years…seems almost pointless and more like misdirected anger. I could understand if this protest occurred in 1984...I’m sure the calmest saints may have cursed IG. And we all know what happens when a saint says something, even in a moment of anguish or anger.
  8. What position does he take on the "Punjab Problem"?
  9. It's Simranjit Singh Mann stating there were "agents" misleading Baba Takhur Singh, I don't see the Taksal saying anything of the sort. And I don't think Brahmgyanis can be mislead.
  10. which sampardas don't light a jot?
  11. Sant Baba Ajit Singh ji Hansalliwale Gyani Takhur Singh ji (Taksali student)
  12. Nice point hpp But I personally don’t feel I’m disrespecting Maharaj using abbreviations, it’s just for quicker writing that’s all. Correct me if I’m wrong, but even in Gurbani, Guru ji uses just “mama†to abbreviate for “mahala†at times. In other cases “Guru†is abbreviated using “Gurâ€. Also, I would understand that if we were to write a formal essay of sorts, or some other form of scholarly material, then using abbreviations does seem inappropriate, but for these types of forums, I think it’s acceptable. Just an opinion.
  13. That's exactly the point many in the Indian media use to justify the mockery they make of us. I guess we just need to work around those amongst us who weigh us down.
  14. maybe that's why they call it a khalsa camp
  15. Sikhs need to go the legal route. Being a minority, and that too a very visible minority, they should aim at bringing in legislation that prevents misrepresentation, or great offense, to the community. Perhaps people will find a way to work around this in the name of freedom of speech, but I think with proper legislation we can blunt their efforts to a large extent. Boycotting the movie will have little to no effect, and neither will protests because in this case the media is siding with the Indian film industry for the most part. Even after countless protests after so many of these incidents there still isn’t a voice emerging from the Indian media in support of Sikhs. I remember reading articles in support of “Sardarji jokes†and I have yet to come across an editorial in support of Sikh views. In my opinion, the best route would be the legal route so it hits the filmmakers where it hurts. The public perception is that of indifference when to comes to this issue, so winning public sympathy (which in itself requires assistance from media) is very difficult.
  16. what definition of Hindu did Guruji use? ....and, is this the same definition used by Nidar Singh (or Nihangs in general)?
  17. Why am I wasting my time typing this out? Why am I doing anything at all?
  18. only another brahmgyani can now if he (Bhai Harnam Singh) is a brahmgyani.
  19. sounds interesting. Good to know we finally have Sikh writers who can research history in the same maner that for so long we have left non-Sikh whites to do. Hope this trend keeps growing.
