curious_man got a reaction from Arsh1469 in So-Called Mistakes In Ddt Books
This has been dragged too much!!
SIkhkhoj ji... please do the khoj correctly. Attached is the Kirtan sohila sakhi from the source u are mentioning. Please let the sangat know that in which line Sant ji says not to read kirtan sohila anytime except at night.
He said.. that from this uthaanka.. a maryada of reading Sohila sahiib at night was set. It doesnt say that it has to be read ONLY in night.
I have been fortunate to spend time with direct students of Baba Gurbachan ji.. and they keep reciting Gurbani.. whole day.. whole night.. everytime.. including.. walking.. eating (listening at that time).. exercising.. driving.. doing kheti.. bathing.. while playing soccer ..lol.. while hiking.. and sleeping (listening Bani at high volume).
And we are not here to search "mistake" in the DDT books.. u have seen the "mistake".. then show us and then we would be glad to have a vichaar on it.
Please introspect it yourself first.

regardless wherever india stands.. atleast from the point of view of space missions.. India needs appreciation.
CONGRAAATS to all Indians and the team which showed the hardship and dedication for this mission.
The whole mission cost was less than the cost of movie "gravity" !!!!
i did engineering and i remember when myself and my team had to spend countless nights just to program a dumb robot's movement..lol

the nitnem or any audio file on gursevak.com is read slow.. its so slow that u have time in between words to repeat.
step1. listen and read baalupdesh instead of nitnem. that will teach u muharni ( practice for pronunciation of each letter with lagmaatras)
then move on to nitnem. if u need contact number of bhagat ji (jaswant singh ji) please feel free to message me and u can talk to him directly.. he will be more happy to help u.
or give me ure number and he will call u.
hope to talk to u soon !!

Guilty.
I have done/am doing the same. I love reading but have tens of books I have yet to start reading, yet I am buying more.
The 2nd point you made Neo bro, is something that crossed my mind as well. I have a book by Bawa Sumer Singh written in the 1700s "Gurbilas 10" and it is written in Brij. I would love to start working on a translation of this into English.

It was a brilliant movie. Just saw it yesterday. The scenic beauty was awesome. Siddhs were shown as if they were truely real. What I liked was that the language used was good. Not the common punjabi used today. They used the pakistani punjabi/pathani/hindi ..the way it used to be.
I liked it, though a lot could be improved, but this was just beginning. More refinement needed from spirtual and factual side. Maybe in futurewe see a movie like "the message".

curious_man reacted to Guest in Quality Of This Forum Is Paramount..!
For past many years, Sikhawareness has been a beacon for freedom of speech, freedom of expression and celebration of different diverse cultures/religion in cyber sikh world. We have no intention of changing that but with that being said, there is clear difference between freedom of speech, freedom of expression and abusing freedom of speech, trolling the forum, deliberately provoking argument from one thread to another, insulting members, other religious figures or attacking demi gods etc etc. We can bear all forms of debates even heated debates but basic civility has to be kept. We hope members ask themselves while writing - are they crossing the line?. Here is what we would like to acheive ideally.
We are all guilty of debating or discussing outside of gursikh principles ((which includes me of course), just wanted to take this chance to post sakhi from Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji updesh to pandits on discussion/debates and what's allowed for Gursikhs.
Or if you would like to see things from western angle:
Just look at western leaders/politicians in real life from two opposite side of spectrums with two polar opposite idealogy debate, how gracefully they debate the issues and still have basic respect for one another.
We have already started a new intiative to ensure, we have put two members- kharku aka- starchpagg47 and jungchumkaur under quality control temporary until their mend their ways following basic civil tone and keeping close eye on other members who are very close to crossing fine line- Maintaing quality of this forum is paramount.

curious_man reacted to BhagatSingh in Dispelling Mistranslation On Meat
They are relying on faulty english translations. And ironically they take things out of context to make their argument.
I'll give you two examples.
I've posted on this before so will quote myself here.
In response to point 1. This is faulty english translation.
In fact, it wasn't only Bhagat Kabir. The Gurus and Bhagats and Sikhs whose bani is in Guru Granth Sahib were all vegetarians.
Point 3 is in fact talking about killing. Bismil and Halaal are referring to killing rather than sacrifice. Instead of adding context the article removes context.
The context to this is another shabad by Kabir sahib that talks about killing animals.
He says it bluntly, it is wrong to kill animals.
Again this is a faulty English translation. He is not referring to the Mullah's beliefs. He is in fact saying that the Mullah is wrong and he should contemplate Ved and Kateb.
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਕਹਹੁ ਮਤ ਝੂਠੇ ਝੂਠਾ ਜੋ ਨ ਬਿਚਾਰੈ ॥
Do not say Ved and Kateb, false are those who do not contemplate them.
ਜਉ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਕਹਤ ਹਉ ਤਉ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਰਗੀ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
When they (Ved and Kateb) say that there is Khudai/divinity in all beings, then why do you kill chickens?
Bhagat Kabir ji says it again and again in different ways, and using all kinds of rhetoric, but the underlying argument is the same - It is wrong to kill animals.
