Have been reading about this episode in Indian history. There are extremely few books about the "The Great Calcutta Killings", which is really surprising.
The retaliation against the Muslims began when the Sikhs of Calcutta joined in to help the HIndus. This turned the tide and the boot soon shifted to the other foot. Then those instigators soon began to regret their actions.  It repeated itself over the partition of Panjab but over many months.

The british stirred up the riots in partition they put everyone against each other, we have sources now telling us they put pigs infront of mosques and cow heads in front of mandirs. They turned sikhs against muslims both fighting people went on a killing spree that went to the millions. Muslims took women converted and or raped them in the millions, sikhs and hindus took revenge and some raped muslim women, kidnapped some converted them, more revenge followed it was a blood spree everywhere. Nehru, Gandhi, Jinaah and the British watched each party went to there own power, money and so forth while humanity killed itself, people lost homes and businesses, hatred was left in there hearts. These are the stories of our grandparents we hear as 2nd, 3rd, 4th generations from that as time goes on we will all end up forgetting such events perhaps we will not exist with time.

Sangat jee - If one is not sure about an issue at hand (no concrete evidence available), then one should stay quiet and neutral.
Avoid Ninda (Slander) and Khushamad (Undue praises).
There are many other bigger issues in life to tackle for us, than Raagi Balbir Singh jee's personal life.

I feel as if Baba Ji were looking past the body of Ashutosh and having darshan of Divine, like Bhagat Namdev ji did from a dog. We do not know the spiritual state of Baba ji nor do we know the circumstances. I feel as if he was teaching ashutosh what Nimrata really is, he was teaching the Sikhi of Guru Nanak to Ashutosh.
or maybe this is abhyas of Baba ji to look for divine in any human being who call themselves Sant.
And we should all learn from Baba ji as well.  I choose this opinion to keep my mind in chardikala instead of delving into nindya.

According to maryada, commercial slaughtered meat is prohibited for a Sikh.

Yea Prof Sahib Singh got it wrong. He got a lot translations wrong.
The english translators copied him and that's why they got it wrong as well.

Try reading the Freed Kote Teeka (from 1800s Punjab), I think it will be the next step for you.

Nihangs are much cooler than rest of panth. They don't take this life seriously take it as drama as gurbani states. 
Relax be a nihang with green leafs should be new t-shirt design. Hehe 

Do Nihangs eat fish? If yes, can someone please describe, how do they kill them?
Any historical references, indicating Singhs eating fish during tough times?

I think also people need to factor in the ground level situation specifically in the UK. 
 
We have a lot of problems here like grooming, conversions, coconutisation etc. Get it in your heads that we are a minority amongst many strong communities here, including the Eglish who are world famous for their devious manipulative streak. In that context, I can fully understand the moves made to try and avoid pretty much 'giving away' people of Sikh descent to bolster other communities numbers. Yes, I know it's not exactly a spiritual perspective but numbers DO count in some ways. 
Yes, I realise that Gurdwaray can't solve all of the root causes of these problems, but they can at least try not to be complicit in the rot. I realise that the problem  involves a complex of factors including family upbringing, personal inclinations, wider societal pressure etc. But we have to chip away at these as a community one by one. In the meanwhile, the fact that Gurdwaray are making a stand is a positive sign. 
 
We have to get our own house in order or else we'll melt away here within a few generations - which is exactly what a lot of people want to happen to us. 

When we choose a religion from a culture which is way different from our understanding there will always arise such conflicts..the fact is women are not the same as they were then..they are independent . Besides our differences i feel you are a strong woman..and i understand your thinking .
There are different layers of Sikhi ...The Nanak Panth is a different layer ..no where in the Guru Granth Sahib you will find insistence on rehat maryada..people will give tuks to prove ..but otherwise what i feel is ..it is the Sant marg..full of Bhagti for the One Divine Hari Parmatma..full of Sehaj ..
The Khalsa of Guru Gobindsingh ji is the militarised form and has certain regulations ..people may have their thoughts about Amirt sanskaar as a uniform ceremony however i strongly feel that there would be a different process of amrit sanskaar for women and a different rehat..also women were not empowered then and had a limited role in the ceremony there is belief of them to be not playing any role .
Your feminist approach will not let you stick to any belief where you will not find the role of women, which is not a point to argue since it is all about a mindset. Good or bad is not something for me to judge because at the same time i don't have any issues with it .
Before you go forward to a major decision in your life ..it is for you to think that this is just one thing which is known to you now ..going forward at every stage you will face such challenges wherein you will find yourself  thinking differently from the society and your spouse which you will be part of .
You need to think and introspect about your decision since it is all about your life.
I personally am brought up in a cosmopolitan way and society, i don't get along with one single group in majority i prefer to have everyone around .  I can very well understand how you must be feeling .

Agreed, we were minority, but look at our sacrifices in liberating Punjab from foreign occupation and then in India's freedom struggle. You will be amazed.

You are talking from sargun bhagti perspective which is fine as bhakti is integral part of Sikhi but nirgun gyan such as mahavak in gurbani is also integral part of Sikhi as well as they both go hand in hand two wings of sikh. As sakhi of Baba Buddha Ji being described as mukh bhagti hirde gyan. 
 
Gurmat is bhakti gyan samoocha vad. 

In above quote, updesh is universal  gyani /bhramgyani who is not confined in labels and  realized his/her true Saroop regardless of dharm is siyana.
