Please tell the Sangat how you find Canada compared with living in the UK?

What is good/better and what is worse?

Any general difference in how people act/behave?

Would you return to UK to live ?

Just quickly, having representation in govt helps, UK Sikhs need to get into UK politics in droves, real changes occur on policy level.

For eg due to sardar harjit s sajjan ex cdn defense minister and jagmeet Singh Ndp federal leader so many Sikhs became keshadhari as inspiration just by their presence. It helps..it really helps in media

Hows the apne vote bank in UK? Are more toward more labour and cons? We need to play strategically, there is a saying out in west if you cannot win, just join them...join the cons in droves, push sikh agenda.

All the partisan aside regarding political party in canada aside, but Sikhs organization in Canada is smart- is very neutral(swing voters) - Sikhs are as much attached to cons than they are to liberal, we are playing strategically here- there are two gursikhs- tim uppal, Jasraj Singh Hallan, few monies on federal level, there is always representation on federal level and provincial level - if cons come in power in 2025 and most likely they will, Canada will renewed improved india relations (hindutva/modi chamche here in canada are hardcore conservative fans here) - Tim uppal may well most likely will represent sikhs in terms of human rights etc. Tim uppal most likely will hold cabinet position if cons will come in canada 2025 at that point, it may well act as balance in power when it comes to geo political issues with India.

 

I say we are in good position in Canada so far. Cons mp like tim uppal need to play safe not like last time with getting on band wagon niqab ban which blew up in their face cost them election.

It all comes to vote bank, all parties here in canada dont think will piss off cdn sikhs here just to please "imaginary illusion" of india to crack down on sikhs who just bring human rights issues. Plus india doesnt have very good image here in North america - joining russia against ukrraine.

Yea he was, bit of unluck you can say he caught off guard when he made that comment I was architect in Afghanistan mission in indian media..I meant what were you thinking that witch haunt stayed with him all his political career among other things

When he became defence minister, he was invited in some Asian conference he goes he was architect in mission in Afghanistan which was factually incorrect. It followed him wherever he went ..media or optics went on witch haunt since then

plenty of politicians in the UK and US have worse episodes in their political history and still become Presidents and Prime Ministers

The best that can be hoped for is that if Preet Kaur Gill becomes the future International Development Secretary she ensures reparations for assisting poor Sikhs to the tune of 5billion over 10years (as that is what the UK government has given the terrorist Pakistani regime over the last 10years despite the British Government's role in 1984).

Prior to 2019 there were no Sikhs in the UK Parliament of 650 MP's.

Pakistani Punjabi's on the other hand have almost 10% of the seats of the opposition Labour party.

In contrast Canada had 20 Sikh MP's out of 338 in Justin Trudeau's first Govt - which was the community exceptionally punching above its weight.

However, I foresee all parties replacing many Sikh faces with Hindu and Muslim ones (as that's where Ottawa sees it's greater long term financial interests over time) outside of the usual GTA and metro Vancouver strongholds .

Shadow government, voting blocks, local offices and accountability.

If you’re thinking of emigrating then you need to do your homework. What someone else may like/consider important may not be relevant at all to you. A move abroad isn’t going to mean you can’t go somewhere else or come back for any reason either.
