It is also good that they are reaching out to the 3HO community to bring them closer to Sikhi.

I am really sorry for the pain you have to go through. I watched this documentary long time ago, it's based on real life incidences. It's about power of Gurbani. Watch it for sure.
They have something called naam aukhad camp I think, try it out if docs are not helping. I don't know how much faith you have on gurbani but I will give you two personal ones since it will increase your faith maybe.
A Fam friends relative was suffering so much and doctor pretty much told he got few days. The whole family started doing paath of sukhmani sahib ji by turns or together, it was non stop since they were desperate. Anybody who came to their house they would request if the person join them in paath. Pretty soon man recovered and now he's healthy and living.
I recently got into a severe depression which lasted for 4 or 5 months, that was so bad like a freakin black cloud sat on my mind and kept saying let's see how you smile or eat today. one day I woke up in stress and chose to get rid of this crappy black cloud and I spent whole day doing nothing but paath of sukhmani sahib ji. I did many of it and I also fasted just to relieve some pain. 36 hours of fasting and 11 paath of sukhmani sahib in a day changed me, like to an extent I have no words to describe. It's been 3 weeks since I did that and my negative thinking is only 5% which is nothing when I used to be100% depressed lol. The amount of love I have for sukhmani sahib ji, I can't describe it.
I have done sukhmani sahib paath before too and have given the water which I place front of it to dad many times and 95% he stayed calm after drinking. It helped him to stay calm too otherwise we go through jagrata most of the time and not a fun one lol.
These are just some of my personal experiences with sukhmani sahib ji. Might increase your belief in gurbani. You can do anything, whether meditation, naam simran or reading gurbani. You can try hypnosis, reiki, acupuncture or other alternative things if medicine and Ayurveda failed.
In the end, everything comes down to what we believe. I Know easier said than done, I am struggling with mind over matter thing too :(. But nothing wrong with trying something.
Contact the naam aukhad camp, they do a lot of camp in India and canada I think, I have seen a lot of their videos and those are real people with real problems. Again I am sorry for what you have to go through, pain sucks whether physical or emotional. It's time to sign a petition to god that pain should be substituted with something easy .

SAadmin reacted to amardeep in The 5 khands in Sri Japuji Sahib
The Nirmala stance is that it deals with 5 levels of spiritual progression. They often juxtapose the 3 spiritual states of Vedant into the 5 Khands (Karam khand, Upashna Khand and Gian Khand). This can be seen in the teeka of Kavi Santokh Singh and it is much more detailed in the fantastic katha of Sant Singh Maskeen. I can't quite remember what Dr. Sahib Singh and the Fareedkot Teeka says about these.
I think the AKJ interprets it as 5 worlds or realms after death - some kind of paradises.
Im not sure why they are not mentioned anywhere in the Guru Granth Sahib apart from Japji Sahib.

These charitars now remind be about the stories/tales is upanishads, the puzzles, the koans, that force the reader to think and analyze, and come up with possible interpretations. Great Job.
Again these are the things that come to my mind: an old, handicapped & poor man could not satisfy his wife. The wife was of a ___ nature and clever enough to deceive the guy. The guy was also blind in lust, literally in one eye. His ears were blocked literally by his wife, and symbolically in a way that he couldn't realize what was going on.
Bottom line: Lust can make you blind & deaf. In that moment, you lose awareness. We all know how true this can be.
Waheguru.

Gurfateh all
Lets do some khoj on the five khands of the Sri Japju Sahib.
What are they representing? 5 spiritual stages or 5 worlds beyond in the afterlife?
What is the reason they are only mentioned in the Sri Japuji Sahib and not in the remaining 1422 angs?
What does the various samprdayas and scholars of the present and past say about these 5 khands?

Interesting discussion though taking place here: People are looking into meaning of words,- asking if there are details we should know about before we can make a judgement and commentary on the sakhi (ie. what is the relationship between the woman and the fat man). .I think this is the purpose of these charitars - to ask these questions and proceed with analysis.

Dear 'Truth Seeker'
from 'an anthropological perspective' what exactly is your background? I think it would be good to put your bias..cough cough... sorry i mean 'viewpoint' in 'context'. otherwise what is the point in offering your perspective if we don't even know what kind of perspective it is? these seem more like underhand insults/attacks coming from a hostile mind (not to offend anyone, just my perspective).
1) "Sikhism didn't offer anything radically different"- the pure emphasis on Gods name alone as sanctifying/saving a person, is only mirrored in Gaudy Vaishnavas in Bengal (who were contemporaries). And indeed this practice is adoptable by adherents of other faiths (so it's actually not even a 'missionary' faith). You can see from Sikh texts that Guru Nanak used to discuss precepts with other religious groups on their own terms. There emphasis here was a revival of devotion, not conversion.
What mixture of monotheism with polytheism? Admitting the existence of Hindu gods and goddesses is not the same as ascending to their supremacy, and is not even the case in mainstream Hinduism. You clearly have no idea about Hindu philosophy back to the Upanishads etc
And where is the 'sufi mysticism' influence? Bhagat Kabir- had a Hindu Guru, advocated name of 'Rama', was not technically a sufi. and accepting saints in other religions doesn't seem to come into indian sufism until AFTER sikhism. Guru Nanak used arabic words because he was living in a muslim state (madrassas etc) but his terminology is not the same as Sufi schools. Bhagat Farid is revered purely on terms of his devotion, where is the ideological 'sufi' influence in his works?
The 'influence' of sikhs is extremely great, if you look at the shifts in thinking (shown in literature) amongst Hindus and Muslims in North India. Why was the last Mughal emperor composing in Panjabi, when that dialect was miles and miles away, if the influence didn't reach the educated classes? You can study the difference in poetry- sufi and hindu- before and after sikhism arose, you will see a shift. You can look at the writings of the pundits and urdu scholars for yourself. Also the rise of other philosophies advocating 'Name alone is required' all over india, as far as Assam.
So Sikhism wasn't confrontational.
2. Christianity, Islam and Buddhism all took hundreds of years to establish their 'theologies, arts' etc and they all had historical schisms. so again another comparative failure on your behalf.
do you think perhaps, that a 200 year genocidal campaign on sikhs, maybe didn't help the cause?
Maharaja Ranjit Singh- one little brief rule- yet look at the ethical standard- abolished capital punishment, abolish animal slaughter. Oh yeas and Sikhs were what, 2% of the punjab population at this time.
'Failure to inspire practice' again how would you know? Sikhs 'practice' in private. You have no idea what what they are 'failing' to do.

In a Saint is lodged the whole of spirituality. Through a relentless search for Truth, He has made his will one with the Divine Will; and working as God’s instrument, he leads seekers after truth to what is their hereditary right: Self Knowledge and God Knowledge. He may make no claims about Himself, but passes all credit onto His own master and God, yet his greatness is without limits, incomprehensible to us who live at the level of ordinary men.

Yes, please block this thread. Indirect attacks on Sikhi, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji maharaj, Dasam Bani, & deceased Sikhs should not be allowed without any substantial historical evidence or research.
Someone is not a clear emotional state to reason, and is advised to take rest, focus on their work & take a vacation . Sometimes obsessions-compulsions can lead to psychosis. Please dont let that happen.

Do any of you guys view the charitars in deeper spiritual contexts?? ..or maybe I'm going loopy? ;)
Personally, I usually read and try to think of what quality or dhoot is being represented by characters. In most of them, and in this one, the woman could be maya. How maya can sometimes convince you of how loved and great you are and yet at the same time she's fooling you and having you play around in the drama of life.
Most of dasam bani and Guruji's works are given for us to see the truth in them and NOT to judge them at surface levels on whether men do this, did that or did the story really happen or not. For example, the Ramayan recited in detail is not to endorse whether the myth of ram and sita is true or not, but it's the message. .. If you look at the whole story carefully, you may see that Ram represents the True Lord in his purest form. When he is born of Das-rath (represents 10 indries), then he is bound in human kapra. Thus falls in love with physical roop/beauty of maya-Mann (when mind is drenched in maya) this is Sita. Remember that SIta is not born of human and comes and dies to the earth of Mother-maya-nature..............you see what I'm getting at? ... Because I really don't think myths like that were reiterated by Guruji to prove whether the stories took place or not, but were given to knock some truthful messages into us moorakhs.

This is my opinion, I might be wrong.
This 405th charitar might be a personalized charitar that may happen to any one of us here, or will happen or has happened already.
Maybe a final exam by Guru to test his sikhs, to see if they learnt anything or are we just dumbasses?
Even sants and bhagats have to pass the charitar by maya. following come to mind:
- buddha
- bhagat kabir
- baba nand singh
- baba harnam singh rampur khera
maya tried to entice above guys in a form of beaitiful lady to test them, but they passed with flying colors, and got great padvis
i might be wrong, but thats what i think :) any other thoughts ? @N30 S!NGH@samurai

Well it makes those men look stupid too, it that makes a woman look like a deciever. Moral of the story acc to my monkey mind is, women can easily deceive a man with their looks and charm and men are stupid that they can't see what is right or wrong lol. And those men are in lust too so nobody wins here. I like that charitar next one please lol
