Tina Kaur Bains reacted to Crystal in The Fighting Traditions And Fighting Arts Of The Traditional Sikh Warriors The Beloved of Guru Gobind Singh Ji The Akali Nihangs Edition 2 1998
' My Ustad Ji never told me his name nor did I ask him I referred to him as Baba Ji . He use to say ; ‘All you need to know is that in the Akali Nihang tradition their is only one true Gatka Ustad meaning Gatka Master his name is Akali Nihang Baba Ktapa Singh .’

If their is any one else out there among the Khalsa Kom (Race) with the authentic Platha of Chatkabaji . Then by all means please contact me . In my life time I am obliged by tradition to teach at least five people this complete Chatka Vidiya . Once this is done I can go Gupt(Hidden) if I wish . Plathabaji traditionally is divided into these six categories . (1) Fulthabaji (2) Guthm Gutha (3) Geh Gich (4) Hath Bath (5) Gfm Gfee (6) Paeh Gehneh
At present lacking in Plthabaji some Jahir Gatka Baj have tried to compensate by learning foreign unarmed skills and incorporating them with their Gatka . This in the long run only serves to undermine Sikh martial tradition . Some Jahir Gatkai have gone a different path . With the Chatka Gatka language I have introduced into circulation they are latching onto this and incorporating with their Jahir art . What they will find in the long run as introduce more and more Chatka Gatka into their Jahir Gatka is that Chatka will negate there Jahir art .
I must warn them Chatka is a lethal fighting art . Practised without due attention or experienced supervision can be extremely dangerous . One lad from Manchester on seeing myself and Parmjit demonstrate and give talk on Chatka Gatka . Went away and copying a technique of Chatka Gatka ripped open another young mans arm whilst sparing with him . Thus I recommend caution for any Jahir Gatka Baj who is thinking of incorporating Chatka Gatka technique with his or her Jahir Vidiya .
    (2) Bishwa Yudha - Dagger and Knife fighting . Particularly those Daggers and Knives which are held with the tip downward . Bishwa literally means Scorpion .
    (3) Fent Yudha - Also Dagger and knife fighting . But particularly those Daggers and Knives which are held like Sword with tip forward at stomach level . Fent literally means stomach .
    (4) Augar Shastr Yudha - Combat with various forms of heavy wooden clubs and metal maces .
    (5) Ugar Shastr Yudh - Combat with various form of Battle Axes and Sickle type weapons .
    (6) Asu Yudh - Fighting with various forms of Short , long , Single hand and Double hand Swords and various forms of Shields .
    (7) Pala Yudh - Fighting with various forms of Spears and Lances .
    (8) Kapt Hthyar Yudh - Combat with various forms of concealed deceptive weapons such Panther Claws Bagh Nakhe etc.
( 9) Chaptn dee Kiriya - Practice of disarming armed assailants .
    (10 ) Dima Dee Lraee - Stone Fighting .
    (11) Jtha Yudh - Group Fighting .
    (12) Rsal Vidya - Horsemanship .
    (13) Nejabaji - Lance and horsemanship .
    (14) Dhnu Vidiya - Archery . (
    15) Bndook Andaji - Marksmanship with firearms .
    (16) Dai Phat Dee Lraee - Study Of Battle strategy .
    (17) Tangia Da Gian - Skill of Keeping watch and scouting .
    (18) Terna - Swimming .
    (19) Mlagiri - Knowledge of Boats . The skill of crossing rivers during the Missal period was very crucial . This is where Mlagiri came into the Chatka Gatka equation . Guru Gobind Singh Ji was nown to keep several boats . On which he would sail down the river and hunt game as it came to drink . The most popular way of crossing a river during the missal period was ; inflating the water carrying goat pouches (Mashka) with air and using there buoyancy to swim across the river . This though not technically a boat but because of connection with crossing rivers was considered part of Mlagiri .
    (20) Brin Vidya - Knowledge of healing wounds .
    (21) Prachin Sikh Dharmk Te Itehas Da Adyan - Study of ancient Sikh Religious and Historical writings .
    (22) Jangi Akali Nihang Prampra Da Adyan - Study of the Martial Traditions of Sikhism ie.the Akali Nihang traditions .
    (23) Jangi Bole Da Adyan - Study of ancient battle chants .
    (24) Trk Vidya - Art of deriving at the truth through rational reasoning
    (25) Malsh Teh Muthi Chapi - Art of Massaging the body . Where as western massage is designed to relax the body . Punjabi massage is designed to flex and limber up the body well as relieve soreness of muscles and limbs . Traditionally it is done applying various oil’s , such as Bdam Rogan (Almond Oil ) , to the body before and after training . Unlike other Martial arts which employ various stretching exercises to flex the body . In Desi (Punjabi) martial arts only Malsh and Muthi Chapi cater for this . Whilst Malsh is being done the Malshi ( One who massages ) whilst rubbing and kneading the body proceeds to twists and turns the joint’s and limb’s thus flexing the whole body .
    (26) Shikar - Hunting . This without doubt was one of the most important aspects of Chatka Gatka training . It was the only time you could do regular Chatka with out going onto the battle field . Through hunting animals like deer cunning , stealth , snaring and trapping skills were developed . To develop and test courage the warrior taking a single shot musket in hand or taking a sword and shield in hand went into the densest of jungles to hunt a tiger . A tiger is a animal of great intelligence and cunning himself . With the ability to pounce from thirty feet and slay a man with a single swat of his paw . A hunter who failed to kill the tiger with a single shot from his musket or single blow from his sword . Became tiger lunch . Mounting on horses with lances in hand and chasing down the powerful wild boar who ran twisting and turning . Trying a horse mans horse skills to the limits . The hunter knowing the boar could quickly turn about at any opportune time and knock down the horse and rider . Then with it’s powerful tusks rip open the hunter . Was the best way of training with horse and lance . Shooting wild fowl taught the Singhs to hit moving targets . Shedding and seeing blood and taking life prepared the Khalsa warrior Nihang for the bloody deeds of the battle field . In Gurbilas Dasmi Bhai Sukha Singh Ji writes regards Guru Gobind Singhs Chatka Gatka training thus ; ‘Then went hunting the life of the world (Meaning Guru Gobind Singh Ji ) with many warriors of many types (Meaning warriors armed with different sorts of weapons ) . Against Singhs Guru Ji pitted warriors armed with swords and shields . Some practised with Kartars by themselves they who were warriors of varied skill . One taking a musket with fear in heart he sought out a tiger . (Meaning the fear in the Singhs heart is because of respect of the tiger he hunts ) . The compassionate charitable one (Guru Gobind Jj ) thus in the jungle set up this Yudh Akhara (training place for battle) .’

Everything which is underlined and bold I have seen with my own eyes when I visited Nidar Singhs Akhara many years ago.
However ;;;Joojaroo Vidya ( Science of warriors ) does anyone have any more information on this?

Agree - that Noor Ki Haqq (Light is Truth). Akaal Purakh Ki Joth is what exists within each of the 11 Guru Jees. Which is gender less, formless, infinite and beyond human mind grasp ( as an average human utilizes less than 1 % of there brain).
As a female who had advocated for female rights in a testosterone fueled environment for decades - I feel there is a definite difference between man and woman.  All my life I have tried to the uphold the punjabi tradition qualities of a "boy" as a "girl" in both west and east domains - you know it was exhausting. What I feel I discovered :
    - Each gender have their own qualities that are required to form a symbiotic relationship
    - Men have larger brain spans than women (fact : I cringed as well when I found out)
    - Women are being victimized to compete with men. (I tried this too, and succeeded at an educational and corporate level, however when it came to jit jutsu and boxing - I was always thrashed by a men in sparring).
I believe Guru jee made women with beautiful qualities, of love, tenderness, compassion (greater than men) and are are gifted to men to make them grounded. Without wo men, men would not survive as Asa Di Vaar tells us. Funny thing, women are so strong we can survive without men but vice versa not so. We should be proud as women of the amazing strength and characteristics we have and not try compete with men.
In the Olympics till this day that divides sports on gender based. Same way an army and corporate fields will divide (although we have women specific roles - which will be utilized as and when needed)
Hence the Khalsa Fauj - army was created by Dhan Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Jee.  Where men have been baptized and the Guru Jees where all in the body of a male carrying the joth. This is not implying women have no strength - as chandi, kali ma, where beyound powerful. Satkar given to a Shree Sahib (kirpan) denotes the scale of which guru jee was defining a womens strength.
However, deep down inside my journey I keep feeling the Khalsa Fauj was made for men - purely because of the physical characteristics that waheguru attributed to them Yes, women can too compete with men and I have seen the years of training which women have to go through - yet they cannot still compete with men on many forms of sports.

Tina Kaur Bains got a reaction from jaikaara in Practice of Nitnem & Simran
WJKK WJKF  virtual sadh sangat jee, please can you help share your experiences around,  those days that you do full nitnem (5 banis am, rehraas sahib, kirtan sohali) versus days that you do not ?
As with diwali, guy fawks, gur purab celebrations the indian home has been full - so I manged to miss some bani reading of nitnem. The weirdest thing, the whole day as I sat with guests/family doing what needed to be done - my heart raced double time as as I multi tasked chanting Wa He Gu Ru mantra - I concentrated internally more on the mantra as I felt guilty for missing some nitnem. And my surroundings did feel a noor around them.
Paradox, when I do manage to do full nitnem - egotistically feel "good" for doing full paath. When we know that bani is beyant to fully understand and apply.
Basically, it seems ego increases if full nitnem done (feeling superior since accomplished a semi defined goal) whilst simran saas saas per prana is just as challenging but doesn't allow ego to creep in as, its not humanly possible to simar per nano second (as humans we are incapable).

veer ji  - good to hear this being shared. 1.5 years ago when I started simran early hours in sangat at guru ghar - a couple of months later my right ring finger grew a weird lump of cells that where protruding outwards. Doctors had no idea what it was after multiple tests. In the end I had to have a minor operation to remove this, at request I asked the surgeon to see the removal - it was like a massive root embedded in finger. They had kept it for further tests to analyze what it was. funny thing, my right hand is mostly unaffected.

Agree with this. We all are at various Avaastas in our spiritual development.
Given Kirpa (blessings and guidance) , when the time is right - Akaal Purkah will guide to the place of a Maha Maha Sant. As developing into inner depths of Gurbani is layered. Koi Naara Koi Door, Karmi Apna Apna (which includes Karams of previous life times).  So dont be hard on yourself and dont chase the sunset, work towards it - else chasing it you loose the essence. Allow it to be with an open heart and firm practice to recognize oneself deeply first Apna Mol Pechan.

This is so true ! There is only one 'jyot" exist on the earth in the human form and you need to be have GREAT GREAT Fortune to see him or meet him . Even if I or somebody try to tell ,you will not have a faith on his words if you are not destined to meet that special one.
With Great Fortune I feel I am the blessed one who found him .Acutally he found us . we cannot find him ! So donot worry about finding him just yearn for it with prayers ,vairaag ,love and when your hunger gets to extreme he will appear.

    Veer Jee,
I only mange 3 banis in morning, rehraas and kirtan sohali. Sometimes its only 2 banis in morning. I was at one stage trying to do 4 banis in am getting up at 0300 - I would often faint in day. I felt I should not be chasing the sunset, as beyant bani is sent as kirpa and comes only with kirpa to reach various avaastas. Burning the candle at both end will make us tired, miserable and grumpy least to say.
Hence step by step what we are supposed to do not trying to compete with anyone, especially ourselves. As long as we try our best. We all should know what our best is without burning out.
With Wahegurus Jees kirpa, I might do 4 banis again in am. Possibly, waheguru is asking me to read and apply certain parts of the 2 banis and rehraas, kirtan sohali more closely.
Kundalani I do a lot of when travelling as guru ghars out in certain parts of europe are only open sundays, so I find sangat of kundalani folks to jap naam with. Which is great. Some of the Kundalani Kriyas can leave you exhasuted, others exhirated depending on prana and of course kirpa.

Thank you veerji for sharing. Hanji - absolutely spot on. I went to ask the video sharer source and like you state the women is of the Rajput Clan (north India). Dress of women and the men in rajashatani style turbans also denoted north India. However, Puja to Durga Ma (aka Kala Ma) is done a lot in south India (as my parents told me). Hence why I was baffled a bit.
Agree totally on neo sikhism trying to hijack. When there are unparallel eternal references all over  - one of which you clearly share on Khanda carvings in Chandi caves and of course shaastra Puja which have been used for centuries across india and other countries.
Beauty being that a Sikh - can till this day carry a shaastra as a form of kirpa. I don not know of any other culture/religion in present day that does so with such humility.
Veerji - do you know about Dharamsalas - and if any exist in the world today ?
    Deeply. Thank you.

    Akaal !
As my ancestors were Rajputs i am familiar with this culture, the Shastars are worshipped by men and women alike  . Amongst the Kshatriya class the women too participate in Shastar pooja and there are cultural dances these days held in public too wherein the women too show their prowess .
Thiis is also visible in the tribal culture where dance is an important part of many rituals . Also, in the olden days most Rajputs would worship the Sword as Bhawaani or Chandi and not the idol. I cam across a royal family of Gujarat who still worship just the sword. I remember my dad staring at me with anger when i would unsheath my Sri Sahib with friends around to do a show off . He had explained me time and again to not draw the Sri Sahib without a reason and if drawn to not place it back without offering blood.
The Khanda is a very ancient shape of the Sword and has been revered since ages. The Khanda is also address as Bapuji and in Guru Gobindsingh ji 's Chandi di Vaar Bani this is mentioned as Khanda Prithamai Saajke ..I am giving you this reference although it is not related to the question but it proves false the claim of the neo sikhism believers that there is no connection with anything . Many ancient temples have the Khanda carved in caves held by the Chandi.
I am pretty sure the video you have seen is posted by the Rajputs of Gujarat or Rajasthan. You can share the link here if you wish.

will take a listen. I came across  video today on whatapp from india - where i believe durga ma puja is being done by rajputs - the women namskaars to the long sword and then preforms a warrior like martial arts dance. At the end again she namskaars to the shaastra. "chants being done are in sanskrit or veda Im guessing, as the only word I understood was"Prabu".

So now im wondering what this is and whether this ritual of swords originated from for women ?

    Any ideas be hugely appreciated.
