    I must admit that video was very inspiring indeed. Many thanks for sharing. I liked the way he clarified the lower level sounds and how the true upward pulling sound/naad is the one you need to find and connect with. This should sound like a Bell and with progress should become an elongated sound.

    He once again confirmed the technique of listening to the gurmantar internally and how the purpose of a mantar is help bring back and control a wondering mind.

    Reminded me once again of Bhagat Baynees bani in Guru Maharaj on Ang 974

    The energy channels of the Ida, Pingala and Shushmanaa: these three dwell in one place.

    Bhen-ji,
    The first post in this thread explains ajapa quite well like Jaikara already mentioned.
    Saas-Giras as per my understanding means japping the gurmantar with every breath which is the ultimate sustenance of the body to function in this world. However it has few stages. It starts with verbal jappa out aloud. The technique that I was taught was to say "Wahe" - slight pause - then say "Guru". The key here is that you must listen attentively to what you have just said and the sound of your own voice. At this stage don't worry about synchronizing with the breathing. Just worry about saying it in two parts and concentrate on what you are saying. With practice you may find your own natural rhythm with the breath, or breath synchronizing in some form with the words. This stage is also referred to as "Bhakri". This stage needs to be done for a significant amount of time till you find your mind beginning to listen attentively without running off thinking other things.
    When you can see that the mind is becoming more focused on the sound of your own voice, and it's mental chattering is significantly diminishing then you can slowly begin to lower the volume till you get to a whispering stage so that there is still some dull audible sound coming from the mouth which you can hear. This will require greater effort of concentration. Once again test your mind. If you find that the mind wonders off in other directions and does not sit and listen to the jaap then you can try for a little longer to make it settle otherwise return to step one where you increase the volume a bit more till it starts to listen again.
    This leads saas-giras to include a state called saas-saas. With this stage you start by whispering the gurmantar "Wahe" with inhale and  "Guru" on exhale, where either the Guru being a little louder or same volume as "Wahe" part. You will have found that when doing simran out aloud in the first stage of saas-giras it is next to impossible to say "Wahe" and inhale at same time but saying Guru when exhaling was easy. The only natural way of talking or producing any sound is when exhaling. Because with saas-saas you are whispering, it becomes easier to say Wahe properly when inhaling with the breath. With saas-saas you should find that the mind also begins to jap along with the whisper. However your attention must always remain on the sound of whisper or of the voice of the mind japping. If you find your thoughts returning again and mind wondering off then try and bring attention back on to the whispering sound or revert to earlier stage. Key point to note is that the mouth should only be slightly open when doing saas-saas and you should be breathing through the mouth. This stage is also referred to as "Madhma"
    When you have become adept at this stage one can try and leave the breath synchonisation and just focus on the mental jaap sound alone. This stage is also called "Pasanti".
    Ajapa jaap means japa without effort (A-japa) and is the end state of saas-giras where the mind has now gone into autopilot and is japing at it's own speed without you forcing it recite, i.e. without any kind of will power. It's a very advanced stage and requires a lot of effort in the earlier stages and above all Waheguru's kirpa.

    jo saas giraas Dhi-aa-ay mayraa Har Har so gursikh guroo man bhaavai.
    One who meditates on my Lord, Har, Har, with every breath and every morsel of food - that GurSikh becomes pleasing to the Guru's Mind.
    In the above pangti you will see the name Har repeated twice. Why? This is a reference to saas giras in that what is being emphasized here is one Har on inhale and the second Har on exhale.

    Its taken years of searching, reading and "Saadh" sangat just to learn the contents of this one post. If it helps you, and you start walking on the path of simran, sooner rather later, without having to waste anymore time first trying find out these teachings on the path of naam simran then it will have been worthwhile.
    Happy japping and god bless you on your journey.

    I'm really beginng to feel I shouldn't be writing all this stuff because I don't want be held responsible for leading anyone up the wrong path. If I say anything wrong or you guys out there feel too much is being said, please let me know and I will stop.

    I read a pungti not long ago that said, first liberate yourself before you try and liberate others........ I am not trying to liberate anyone but merely inspire others to walk the path as I'm trying to do so. If you guys make it to waheguru first please let me him know his Sikh is trying to find him and be in his charan.

    ANG 1158
    ਚੰਦਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Cẖanḏan kai sang ṯarvar bigri▫o.
    Associating with the sandalwood tree, the tree nearby is changed;
    ਸੋ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੨॥
    So ṯarvar cẖanḏan ho▫e nibri▫o. ||2||
    that tree begins to smell just like the sandalwood tree. ||2||
    The Divine smell of sandalwood is so distinct and pure that any average wood or tree that comes within it's proximity, also begins to emanate the same divine smell of chandan. A transformation takes place in the otherwise average wood.
    Chandan is a blissful and heavenly aroma that can be sensed in the company of high avastha gurmukhs.  Kabirji gives the resemblance and explanation that any old wood can transform into the purer and blissful chandan by simply being in it's company.  We;like the ordinary wood, can also be transformed by being in the presence of a single GURU- the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

    Please note the highlighted words "sang" / "nearby"  in this first couplet. It's quite important, because in the next couplet he speaks about another 'transformation' that involves "contact" and not being nearby.   The distinction is of significance because the above couplet is likened to being in the company of sangat and the divine Guru.  Hence, it's about the outward approach that we have to take at beginner spiritual levels. Whereas, the next couplet refers to the more advanced inner approach which occurs inside us once we progress to higher levels.
    ਪਾਰਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Pāras kai sang ṯāʼnbā bigri▫o.
    Coming into contact with the philosophers' stone, copper is transformed;
    ਸੋ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੩॥
    So ṯāʼnbā kancẖan ho▫e nibri▫o. ||3||
    that copper is transformed into gold. ||3||
    The "Paras" /philosophers stone, that is in many ancient myths and stories is about the Touch of Gold, when everything gets transformed into Gold after being touched. It's not just about undergoing a change in smell sensation as with the sandalwood, but also a change in it's physical appearance; that occurs inside us. The sukham sareer inside us becomes to make the jyot pargat. The further cleansing and abyass starts showing the HariMandar. The Golden Temple that was not seen previously; starts to glow and become radiant in it's brilliant honey colored gold. In abyaas levels, it's when we start going towards dasam duar to take darshan in Har'mandar.(hari's mandar)
    I find it very interesting that references from alchemy used in books like Harry Potter and many other stories show the relationship of elixir of life/divine nectar/fountain of youth to the philosophers stone. As per gurbani and abyaas, i believe that this nectar is the amrit that flows from Hari's mandar, bathing the transformed gold.

    ਸੰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Sanṯan sang kabīrā bigri▫o.
    In the Society of the Saints, Kabeer is transformed;
    ਸੋ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੪॥੫॥
    So Kabīr rāmai ho▫e nibri▫o. ||4||5||
    that Kabeer is transformed into the Lord. ||4||5||
    Kabirji tells us that after his outer and inner transforming, he has become one and the same with God. Kabir has transformed into the almighty raam. He's completely transformed and reached the final stage of settling(nibrio ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ),...meaning that there is no further transforming and the end goal of Nirankar has been reached.

    Waheguru ji ka Khalsa waheguru ji ki Fateh ji..
    I am so glad to write here for I have so many things to tell you.
    I am getting good sleep at night from a couple of weeks and I am very happy for it,though I get dreams at same rate but when I wake up in morning I don't think over it and let all my memory wash off. I also do my nitnem though not in amritvela but I try to do it in ease and not stressing that I have to do it (may waheguruji bless me amritvela soon). For my body aches n body rashes I try do exercise bit, eat healthy and make body relax. I have learnt how to change my potential which I used in stressing, to do Simran or recite any baani.
    At my free time sitting somewhere idle, travelling, cleaning dishes, doing household chores or in all times when I find myself lost in thoughts I try to do Simran so that I dont think anything else n stress.
    Things have not changed but yes my point of view has changed alot.
    I have known what is Hukam and I leave my worries upon Gurusaab saying " Tu mera Pita Tu hai mera Mata Tu mera Bandap Sakha Skhaye".
    And this all has happened because I always had in my mind that I have to write up here n tell you, you might be waiting for it, I always thought. You were all right! Things were getting psychological..
    I just do my part n leave my desire for results.

    I am so thankful to everyone here who replied for my problem and helped me.
    Thank you
    Bhull chukk maaf.

    You want to hear something freaky. I nearly electrocuted myself yesterday.
    Our steam generator iron leaks water and it leaked water into a multi plug socket. I was unaware there was water in the socket and wanted to use my printer. I plugged in the printer and switched on the plug and the printer didn't respond. I was playing around with the plug thinking it wasn't seated properly. When I lifted the multi plug socket water spilled out. The fuse box tripped before any harm came to me.
    Waheguru. Bachgaya

    Had a weird dream last night in which I die in the presence of a unknown mahapursh. He is also dying and says to me our time in this world has come up. Are you ready to leave? I find myself startled and think what will happen to my family who I will leave behind. Never the less since he is with me I say I am ready and not affraid. He holds my hand in with one push we mentally begin to transcend upwards going higher and higher into the sky.
    At that point I suddenly wake up before reaching whatever was going to be the destination.
    Was definitely the most strangest dream I have ever had.

    Beta ji you are quiet young Happy Birthday ! Sometimes things get psychological too. Once we start  thinking on the  lines that someone has cast a spell we convince ourselves and for  everything happening  around is we start presuming this is jadu tona...of what i could make out is this
    you  are stressed about waking up for paath and your sub conscious mind is always awake thinking you might drowse  off and you lack sound sleep.
    Before stressing yourself on any force of waking up at Amrit vela please focus on a good night's sleep. Sleep will help you control your mind and think clearly.
    Do not fear God, our belief is not like any Abrahamic faith where Allah or Jehovah will punish you at every step. Sikhi or any other Sanatan Dharam has base in Bhagti and Pyaar . First we should focus on Sehajta, be calm and at peace. You have built up a whole series of phases in mind, you will  do paath Saheedi Singhs  will come and will help you. We have to first lay stress on Naam Simran and Waheguru as a Universal power. Please dont focus on other entities at this point of time . Lay your trust in Waheguru Parmatma, let Him solve your issues. We dont need to creat a fleet of Divine entities all lined up to solve our problems.
    Jinn Prem kiyo tinn hi Prabh Paayo. ..i am not a giani or of  any awastha that i could advice you anything however i would like to request  you to first continue to do more and more jap of Mool Mantar as a base to your journey.

    These definitely seem like good signs based on what Gurbani says.
    I would recommend that you start a sehaj path of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. 1 page per day. If you dont know Gurmukhi, start off with the English Translations. All these signs are very clearly mentioned, plus you will get your questions answered straight from the Guru. Its very powerful and amazing, when you are on a certain ang, and the relevant queries of mind are mentioned by Guru Sahib.
    Panktis that come to my mind are:
    Jo Nar Dukh Meh Dukh Nai Mane...  ( not feeling dukh during dukh...)
    Mera Mann Loche Darshan Ke Tayi...  ( intensse desire for darshan of waheguru)
    Nindya ustat tyagni ...( no effect of compliment & insults)

    Sat1176 got a reaction from tva prasad in Is there difference between Simran and Jaap ?
    Was just watching a video and this question about stage of simran was explained.
    A state comes when doing japa when the mantra merges with the breath. Then like you breath without being consciously aware at times the same happens with the mantra since it is linked with the breath. This is called Ajapa jaap and is also known as the stage of simran. It's going on automatically in the background.
