Sat1176 got a reaction from Kaur10 in The Ringing Sound (Anhad Shabad; Sound Current)
    Singh,

As one does more and more naam simran the mind becomes still and he hears these sounds naturally or sometimes spontaneously. Don't stop your bhagti whatever you are doing and start looking for sounds. This post is designed more for those who might already be hearing such sounds. I found quite a lot of information on what these sounds are but not what you do with them. This was the first text I read where someone explained possibly a next step on the journey. How to move from one sound to the next. Where you can hear the sounds and where to focus. Was interesting the guy said focus on the swirl of the head because I always thought it was the top.

I personally am doing so much research on these sounds because I'm hearing this stuff quite alot at night and I haven't got the foggiest idea what it means or what to do when it happens apart from listen. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with a massive vibration in my ear that gives me such a shock as if someone has put a speaker to my ear. It was nice to just read that these sounds can be perceived to be near and far. Now noted that they can even cause vibrations in you.. Its all a learning game for us.

    Lucky,

I've posted the main juice from the book but I recommend you buy it and have a quick read yourself. I don't want to type up everything it said. There is quite a bit of padding but there are useful bits of information too.

I thought I would share some key points made in a book I read recently. Some of you might find the information contained within useful in your own personal spiritual journey's. Enjoy...
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Ringing-Sound-Introduction-Current/dp/0966535804/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390990288&sr=8-1&keywords=the+ringing+sound
Do you Hear Ringing in Your ears?
If you said yes, you are not alone. Millions and millions of people have sought medical advice hoping to find an answer to the ringing in their ears, only to find there is nothing that medical science can do for them. They are told they suffer from tinnitus or similar maladies.
Although these buzzing, ringing, rushing sounds have been given new names by medical science, they are not new. They are perhaps as old as humankind. In the past, a great deal was written and taught about how to use these sounds productively. Techniques associated with the inner sounds involve the development of internal energy or what may be called spiritual power. Modern practitioners of such techniques often refer to these sounds as the sound current.
Sound current techniques also hold great potential for the expansion of consciousness. To reach into the sound current’s mysteries is to begin a personal adventure of self-discovery.
    What does it sound like?
The auditory perceptions we have been referring to may be perceived in many ways. Commonly, they take the form of ringing sounds. They may be perceived as anything from a ringing, or buzzing (like the sound of a florescent light), to music. A common analogy likens the experience to that of listening to high-tension electric power lines. Anyone who has stood near one of the colossal Erector Set-style metal towers with suspended power lines, especially when the air is moist knows the crackly hissing noise.
Please do not be discouraged if you do not relate to the current descriptions. Just because you do not see an exact description of what you hear does not mean that you are not dealing with the sound current. Many other descriptions will follow and still only relatively few of the possible manifestations of the sound current will be explicitly described.
Generally, the “sounds” are first noticed in the right ear, but may be detected anywhere. As we will eventually see, these “sounds” are not sounds at all. The sound current is energy passing through an energy channel near the ear. It is only interpreted as sound.
The list below describes the various ways in which the sound current may be perceived is to catalogue them and give examples.
The first list is from a classic yoga book. It describes some of the more common ways in which the sound current may be perceived. Each description is preceded by its Sanskrit name
    1. Cin nadam : Like the hum of the honey-intoxicated bees; idling engine vibration; rainfall; whistling sounds; high frequency sound.
    2. Cincin nadam : Waterfall, roaring of an ocean
    3. Ghanta nadam : Sound of a bell ringing.
    4. Sankha nadam : Sound of a conch shell
    5. Tantri vina : Nasal sound, humming sound like that of wire string instrument.
    6. Tala nadam : Sound of small tight drum.
    7. Venu nadam : Sound of a flute.
    8. Mridamga : Sound of a big brass drum
    9. Bheri nadam : Echoing sound
    10. Megha nadam : Roll of distant thunder.
Additional common descriptions would include the chirping of cricket(s) or boiling teakettle whistling. Flowing water or wind are also common descriptions. These sounds can be of a high frequency, like florescent or halogen light, or of a very low frequency with an undulating or even slowly oscillating palpable physical quality. They may be smooth and harmonious, or very rough and jangly. They may be barely audible or seem more deafening. Often these tones appear just at the edge of hearing or sound very distant. When they seem close and loud, they actually vibrate the physical body.
    When Would I Hear it?
The sound current is most noticeable during periods of high stress or paradoxically, deep relaxation. It may be fair to say that perception of the sound current is most notable when the body’s homeostasis is either highly threatened or highly attuned. Perception of the sound current may be particularly strong under the following circumstances:
Sleep Deprevation Illness or High Fever Influence of Drugs and Alchohol Physical or Emotion Trauma All of the above bulleted items relate to altered states of consciousness. They also represent potentially dangerous situations for the physical body. None of these is advised for inducing perception of the sound current. Aside from the obvious dangers of employing such methods, there is an inherent distortion of the natural experience associated with the stress created by such methods. Consequently the psyche cannot interpret the resulting perceptions well. The quality of subsequent experiences is also compromised by the body’s attempt to recover from the onslaught of imbalanced energy.
The sound current can be explored in its positive aspects through quiet inner stillness or focused energy technique. The following practices are recommended for enhancing perception of the sound current and personal vitality in general:
Deep Relaxation Techniques (Yoga) Certain Types of Breath work Shabad Surat Yoga Exercise : Playing with the Sound Current
Sitting quietly and comfortably with your eyes closed; listen to the sound curernt’s tones. Locate where the tones appear to be within or near your body.
Now isolate a tone on the right side of your head. If one is not there then simply intend to find one. Play with the sound by smoothing its vibrations or raising its pitch by gently reaching into it and intending a harmonious result.
Once you have a nice clean tone, see if you can move it to your crown chakra, or hair swirl. Listen to this chakra tone for a few minutes with a quiet mind. Observe yourself and you sound current carefully as you listen.
    Changing Tones
In sound current mediation techniques, these sounds maybe modulated to produce desired states of conscious awareness. Specific states are associated with certain tones. Knowing a tone allows one to summon a specific related state of awareness.
    Seeing the Sound Current
Many people receive light impressions while perceiving the sound current. Close your eyes. Imagine you are inside your head looking at the inside of your forehead, just above and between your eyes. From that place listen to the sound current and observe. Do not judge.
    Receiving the Sound Current
Most people do not consciously perceive the sound current. It is filtered out on a subconscious level. As an example of how it happens, listen to a spiral seashell. The white noise it produces is an amplification of the sound of moving air. A similar noise occurs in your own ears. It is always there, but you do no hear it. The reason you are not aware of its presence is that your brain does no consider it critical to your physical well-being, since is does not require conscious attention or action. The information is regarded as non-threatening, monotonous, background noise. It is considered superfluous and is there fore disregarded. It never reached you on a conscious level.
But if a strong wind picks up, then that is a survival issue. Your brain is interested in threatening weather conditions. Suddenly, you hear the sound of moving air very well, because it is above normal background limits. But when our systems are running within normal tolerances, background information is not reported to the conscious mind.
    Exercise : Shifting Awareness
Sitting comfortably, lightly touch your forehead just above and between the eyebrows. This is called the “third eye chakra”. With your eyes closed move your awareness to that point. Allow several seconds to get a feel of being there. Now, move your hand to the back of your head. Touch lightly on the knob of the back of your head, which is opposite your third eye chakra. This new area is called the “willpower” because it is the source of your personal will. With eyes closes, send your awareness to this new point. Get a feel of being there. Next repeat this exercise without your finger, using only your awareness. Then move your awareness to the center of your head. From there, move back in you head until you find a natural resting place for your awareness. This will be the place from which you will do your beginning meditation techniques.
Exercise : Listening to the Sound Current
Mantra meditation is the foundation of sound current meditation. When you are comfortable with that technique, it is time to add the sound current.
The sound current is usually noticed first in the right ear. Right-side tones lead up to the higher awareness. This is the easiest and most secure way to begin. Simply listen for the sound in, or near the right side of the head.
In time, you will hear buzzing, ringing or roaring sounds. They may come as a feeling or vibration more than hearing. You may perceive the sound current as light. As you listen, you will become more connected with the sound current. It may seem familiar, like something you remember from a long time ago. You may hear many other tones. Listen to the highest, finest vibrating tone. Gently monitor your impressions. Listen to your own inner knowing. Be your own guide.
Exercise : Following the Sound Current
Once you are comfortable with mantra mediation and listening to the sound current, you can begin playing in the tones. Essentially the procedure is to begin with mantra mediation to quiet the mind and enter into a higher state of awareness. When you hear then sound current, begin listening for the higher, finer tones on your right side.
When you are listening to a tone on your right side, it may be you hear another higher, finer tone further to the right. Move your attention to that tone. It will lead you to higher fields of awareness that constitute greater realms of energy and wisdom in the Cosmos and in your own being. Remember the journey moves simultaneously into inner and outer worlds as you follow the sound current up and back to the right.
During the process you usually lose track of your mantra. You are then using the sound current as your mantra.
    Currents of Sound
The sound current is like two rivers of energy. One flows down to the manifestation. That is the left-hand side. The other flows upward, back to its Source. Perceived as a distance, these rivers are shinning ribbons of light. As your awareness draws closer you being to hear the sounds of rushing waters. You can sit by the river’s edge and be soothed and enlightened by the sounds of dancing cataracts. Or you may enter into the stream. There you will be transported. Your Inner Awareness determines the final destination. The ideal path is to learn at the river’s edge until your conscious becomes familiar with the flow. Simply listen at first. Then you can enter. All this is directed by your intent. Proceed like you know how. On some level you do. Spirit will acknowledge you intent and guide you.
Exercise : Entering the Sound Current
Enter the sound current is accomplished by choice, or intent. Focus your attention into it rather than on it. This a bold manoeuvre. It can sweep your consciousness away. The securest method is to maintain the focus of your consciousness on the crown of your head. This crown chakra is located at your hair swirl just behind the top of the head.
Allow your spiritual sight to follow the sound current. Think of it as a flying portion of your awareness by remote control from your crown chakra. When your session is complete, return your all thoughts to your physical body.
    What should I expect?
Good question. The answer is limitless. Expect a quiet, peaceful mind, which remains with you longer and longer throughout the day as you practice. A sense of inner centering will grow. From that place of Inner Silence in your Self, you will be able to flow more easily in all realities and situations including daily life.
You may see other beings, other worlds, or manifest any number of psychic experiences. These are the worlds of the mystics. Humans are powerful beings. You are in charge. Always use your best judgement. Take command when required. You may call upon your own inner higher awareness for guidance. Be reverent of everything, but do not be overly impressed by anything. Do not be afraid. Listen to your feelings. You are connected to all things. In a very real sense, you are the center of your world. In that place, you are more powerful than anything you meet in mediation. Trust your inner Self. Spirit will guide you.
    Final note
I have studied with many master teachers. Much of the information I have been exposed to was considered too potent for the general public. All the secret and popularized practices I have studied, and all the other energy techniques with which I am familiar, pale in comparison to sound current techniques.
There is power, wisdom, awareness and great mystery in the sound current. Listening to the sound current will help you become aware of the awareness of the Cosmos. It will bring Self-Awareness. Listening to the sound current is becoming aware of awareness Itself.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji explains on Ang 884 about where you hear the different anhad shabads :-)

Make your hands the cymbals/drum, your eyes the tambourines, and your forehead the rabaab you play.
kar ker taal pakhaavaj (dholak) nainhu maathai vajeh rabaabaa

Let the sweet flute music resound in your ears, and with your tongue, vibrate this song.
karnahu maDh baasuree baajai jihvaa Dhun aagaajaa

Move your mind like the rhythmic hand-motions; do the dance, and shake your ankle bracelets.
nirat karay kar manoo-aa naachai aanay ghooghar saajaa.

This is the rhythmic dance of the Lord.
    raam ko nirtikaaree.

I believe internet online translation websites have made a mistake with reference to pakhaavaj. You can google it yourself and see it's a stringed dholak not cymbals.

Another translation in a book I'm reading explained it as follows:

With the entry of divine light in the six chakras, the divine melody of drum beat appears and eyes act as tambourines. The sound of the guitar is heard in the forehead area. The sweet flute music resounds in the ears. The mind starts to dance is reflected by presence of sound of shaking ankle bracelets. This is the rhythmic dance of mind for the Truth. The truth, sees all the make-up and decorations of such a mind.

    Ang 886

The celestial harp plays the incomparable melody,
    kinkuree anoop vaajai.

but in your intoxication, you do not hear it, O Yogi. ||1||Pause||
    jogee-aa matvaaro ray. ||1|| rahaa-o.

With Guru's grace I can sometimes hear the rabaab type instrument, on a couple of occasions I have heard the jingle of bracelets which was really loud, but most of the time I hear the flute-ish type sound in my ears but much more higher in pitch more like a whistle.

I'll be honest even I'm becoming skeptical I'm actually hearing these. Either the anhad shabad is slowly beginning to manifest or I've got something wrong in my ears. So far it is not causing me any discomfort or pain so will keep going...

I'll share a true event that happened to me a few weeks ago and how I believe simran/Guru ji/Waheguru saved my life.

I was driving to the gurdwara early one morning around 5am for a simran session. I had simran on the car stereo and was japping along whilst driving on a 3 lane carriageway. I was in the 3rd lane and approached a long HGV truck that was in the 1st lane on my left. Either the driver of that truck fell asleep at the wheel or he lost control because his truck suddenly swerved across the middle lane and straight into my path cutting me up at high speed. I was literally sandwiched between the central reservation barrier and the front of his truck and could see the rest of his long vehicle getting closer and closer on my left. I was hitting the brakes and was just about to be crushed like a grape with my car being only a hair length away from full on side impact, when he suddenly regained control of his vehicle and pulled back to the left. Feeling relieved with Waheguru's grace I had just survived what could have been a fatal encounter.

I reached the gurdwara and proceeded to sit down. The Giani ji, who unbeknown to me came up and asked if I would come up and do Guru Ji's Chor de Sewa. I was rather surprised to be asked because I wasn't local sangat member and there were other sangat members there who I have seen on other occasions doing this sewa. Because I wanted to record the simran stupid me refused the Giani ji's request. As the programme of that morning progressed it suddenly dawned upon me what I had declined to do. Seeing the error of my way, I immediately got up and rushed to Guru Ji's tabaya and asked for the chor sahib. When the Giani ji came back later he looked at me and just smiled. Then he asked if I would be willing to serve the sangat parshad. When he made the second request I knew a more divine power was requesting through him that morning...

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

I'm not doing anything special Bro that I'm aware off. Any knowledge I have gained I have already shared in my posts on this forum. I'm have no strict routine where and when I sit down although I wish I did. I just do as much simran throughout the day as I can. That means from the moment I wake up I try and get the simran going verbally or mentally. As per Gurbani it says try and do it 24x7. That not easy if you have a job/family etc but you got to start somewhere. Nevertheless whatever I'm doing, getting dressed, walking, on the train keep I try and keep the simran going verbally if possible or mentally if in a crowded area amongst others. I'm also listening to simran with headphones as much I can so my elephant mind learns to listen to it with full concentration and fall in love with the word Waheguru. (We all have our personal tastes, which seems to connect us) Believe you me, there are times when I just can't do it or don't want to. If I have a few minutes where I can fully concentrate then I close my eyes and just say WaheGuru with my diyan/focus in my ears and on the sound of my own voice just slightly in front of my lips. You will then clearly begin to hear the jaap as it comes out of your mouth. You will also begin to recognize the difference between when your mind is listening and when your just japping and not listening.

It's been drummed into me that learn to kill those thoughts/mind (i.e. to die in the shabad) and the only way this is going to happen is when our mind learns to listen to the jaap that comes out of our mouth. If the mind is wondering say the Gur Mantar louder, not necessarily faster. As your mind begins to become still then you start bringing the volume down. Do this for some more time at the lower volume and observe if the thoughts are still coming. If your mind starts wandering again bring the volume back up. If its still listening then lower even more down to dull whisper. At this stage you will begin to notice that the jaap syncs with the breath. So on inhale say Wahe pause for 0.5 to 1 second exhale say Guru. An ever so short pause between the Wahe and the Guru. You will know what feels right to you.

The other thing I've mentioned on other threads is slight navel pull in on Wahe and release on Guru. This is not kapal bhati that Ram Dev or Yogi's do. Its only a few millimeters, 1 cm is probably too much pressure, its ever so slight pressure that is put on that region. I'm sure I mentioned it on another thread before.

How long has it taken me to get to this stage? What stage! I don't know if I have reached any stage at all yet. I'm just drawing upon little snippets of other people's knowledge that seems to make sense to me and taking small steps myself. I'm just a nobody drowning in this world of Maya. But one thing Guru Ji has now drummed into my head good and proper is that only his Naam is going to be the rope that I can use to get me out. I'm hardly interested in anything else. When I hear anything to do with Naam simran my eyes and ears open in excitement. Any other topics I just feel like I'm wasting my time reading and listening to.

I read these pungtis in SGGS a few days ago which gave me a real wake up call.

The mind is in the body, and the True Lord is in the mind.
tan meh manoo-aa man meh saachaa.
(Now the game to find him in the mind is you have to kill your own first. The way ordained by Guru Maharaj is use his GurMantar to stop it thinking anything else. The more still it becomes and the 9 doors through which the mind loves to escape close, then slowly the anhad shabad sounds begin to be heard. When I put in the effort I sometimes begin to hear but as I back off I don't do the simran it disappears again for days even weeks. Then I have to put in intense effort again and with Guru Ji's grace it sometimes returns.)

He Himself watches over us, and He Himself makes us see.
    aap dikhaavai aapay daykhai.

He is not pleased by stubborn-mindedness, nor by various religious robes.
hath na pateejai naa baho bhaykhai.

    He fashioned the body-vessels, and infused the Ambrosial Nectar into them;
    gharh bhaaday jin amrit paa-i-aa.

God`s Mind is pleased only by loving devotional worship.
    paraym bhagat parabh man patee-aa-i-aa.

Reading and studying, one becomes confused, and suffers punishment.
    parh parh bhooleh chotaa khaahi.
(This was my own fundamental mistake. I spent more time reading about the subject rather than putting in the actual effort. The more I read the more confused I became about what technique should one use. I was all over the place. Then I did sangat and the first thing I was told was forget everything you have learned and just learn to listen to the shabad. Put your diyaan in the GurMantar until your mind is dead. Everything else will happen on its own when the time is right. No eye straining, no nothing. Just relax and listen! Then I started reading Gurbani and it's saying exactly the same thing.)

By great cleverness, one is consigned to coming and going in reincarnation.
    bahut si-aanap aavahi jaahi.

One who chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and eats the food of the Fear of God
    naam japai bha-o bhojan khaa-ay.

becomes Gurmukh, the Lord`s servant, and remains absorbed in the Lord.
    gurmukh sayvak rahay samaa-ay.

With Guru's grace I think I had a first experience of jaap entering the heart (wondering if this is what is meant by jaap in the hirda). With Guru's kirpa on most occasions the jaap travels between the Navel and my chest in an up and down motion as I breath. Was given bit of an extra push and it entered the heart literally on the left side. All of a sudden I could feel my heart pumping really strong as if I was having some kind of heart attack. The heart beat became totally synchronised with the jaap, to the point I couldn't recite jaap verbally anymore and became too aware of the heart pumping like it was going to explode. It wanted to speed up the jaap but I slowed my breathing down and the sensation began to reside.

I must admit the first time these new sensation takes place it can totally shake you because one has never experienced them before.

My simran has taken a battering this past week. Can't seem to knuckle down and focus. Think this was the reminder I needed...

Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji says on Ang 456

    Ang 456

Make the effort, O very fortunate ones, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord King.
udam karahu vadbhaageeho simrahu har har raa-ay.

O Nanak, remembering Him in meditation, you shall obtain total peace, and your pains and troubles and doubts shall depart.
naanak jis simrat sabh sukh hoveh dookh darad bharam jaa-ay.

Chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe; don`t be lazy.
    naam japat gobind nah alsaa-ee-ai.

With each and every breath, worship the Lord in adoration; meditate on the Lord God in your mind and with your mouth. (I think the reference to man mukhee refers to the mouth of the mind i.e. internally with sass sass)
saas saas araaDh har har Dhi-aa-ay so parabh man mukhee.

Prays Nanak: may I meditate on the Lord`s lotus feet, and not be lazy in chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||
naanak pa-i-ampai charan jampai naam japat gobind nah alsaa-ee-ai. ||1||

The Purifier of sinners is the Naam, the Pure Name of the Immaculate Lord.
    paavan patit puneet naam niranjanaa.

By the healing ointment of the Guru`s spiritual wisdom, one meets the Immaculate Lord God, who is totally pervading the water, the land and the sky.
gur gi-aan anjan parabh niranjan jal thal mahee-al poori-aa.

Wherever the Saints worship the Lord in adoration, there He is revealed.
jah jah sant araaDheh tah tah paragtaa-i-aa.

God blends Himself with His devotees in His natural way, and resolves their affairs.
    parabh aap lee-ay samaa-ay sahj subhaa-ay bhagat kaaraj saari-aa.

In the ecstasy of the Lord`s Praises, they obtain supreme joy, and forget all their sorrows.
aanand har jas mahaa mangal sarab dookh visaari-aa.

    Ang 458

The brilliant flash of the One Lord is revealed to them - they behold Him in the ten directions.
chamatkaar pargaas dah dis ayk tah daristaa-i-aa.

Prays Nanak, I meditate on the Lord`s lotus feet; the Lord is the Lover of His devotees; this is His natural way.

Came across the pangti which got me thinking....

Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, with intuitive ease and poise, spiritual wisdom is revealed. ||1||
    sehjay naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai gi-aan pargat ho-ay. ||1||

True spiritual knowledge is going to come itself when we do abhyaas slowly, but this could also mean when we enter shej samadhi which is really high avasta.

My Guru is telling me to do one thing and one thing only and I do so many others..... Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru Waheguru

    Ang 426

They are occupied with the Naam, and only the Naam; they deal only in the Naam.
naamay hee naam varatday naamay vartaaraa.

Deep within their hearts is the Naam; upon their lips is the Naam; they contemplate the Word of God, and the Naam.
antar naam mukh naam hai naamay sabad veechaaraa.

They listen to the Naam, believe in the Naam, and through the Naam, they obtain glory.
    naam sunee-ai naam mannee-ai naamay vadi-aa-ee.

They praise the Naam, forever and ever, and through the Naam, they obtain the Mansion of the Lord`s Presence.
naam salaahay sadaa sadaa naamay mahal paa-ee.

Through the Naam, their hearts are illumined, and through the Naam, they obtain honor.
naamay hee ghat chaannaa naamay sobhaa paa-ee.

Through the Naam, peace wells up; I seek the Sanctuary of the Naam.
naamay hee sukh oopjai naamay sarnaa-ee.

Without the Naam, no one is accepted; the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor.
bin naavai ko-ay na mannee-ai manmukh pat gavaa-ee.

In the City of Death, they are tied down and beaten, and they lose their lives in vain.
jam pur baaDhay maaree-ah birthaa janam gavaa-ee.

Those Gurmukhs who realize the Naam, all serve the Naam. (To serve Naam is to LISTEN TO IT!!!!!)
naamai kee sabh sayvaa karai gurmukh naam bujhaa-ee.

So believe in the Naam, and only the Naam; through the Naam, glorious greatness is obtained.
naamhu hee naam mannee-ai naamay vadi-aa-ee.

He alone receives it, unto whom it is given. Through the Guru`s Teachings, the Naam is realized.
jis no dayvai tis milai gurmatee naam bujhaa-ee.

O Nanak, everything is under the influence of the Naam; by perfect good destiny, a few obtain it.
naanak sabh kichh naavai kai vas hai poorai bhaag ko paa-ee.

I justed wanted to write a little example to help understand what I believe Guru ji is trying to instruct us with, because if you learn you apply this jugti then you watch how much more stable you mind becomes. You will then notice how when you don’t, you will automatically see how it breaks your inner peace.

I am sure you have heard countless saakhi’s of bhagats, mahapursh calling everyone they see WaheGuru. When I first heard this I found it a little strange, why on earth are they calling a person waheguru. I have even been to gurdwaras where this is normal practise. First I thought maybe they are japping naam after ever little phrase. Then when I started listening more and reading SGGS the light dawned.

These people are trying to develop what I believe is called bibek bhuddie. As guru ji instructs us to do in the pangti’s above and probably countless others. If you train your mind to see Waheguru in everyone who will you hate? who will you curse? who will you swear at? Who will you do nindiya off?

Then this is not just limited to people, look at Waheguru’s whole creation. Waheguru is inside that too but we just don’t have that divine sight to see his parkash in it yet, myself included. But slowly when you start bringing this line of thought into your mind you develop more peace/shanty of mind because you don’t want to hurt anyone or do their nindeya because indirectly your only adding more sins into your basket. And boy do we have millions of them already. This is how guru ji is instructing us how to conquer Krodh and the other vices gurbani talks about.

The day the penny dropped for me, I was waling down an escalator and below I saw hundreds of people, and the more I looked at them the more I smiled and just said Waheguru. Then I walked home I saw a tree and I looked at that tree and said to myself guru ji your in their too but one day please show yourself in your true light.

The more I remember to put this at the forefront of my mind, when ever a confrontation starts I have now come to hate it and think this person is has lost it and I wont let him destroy my inner piece which with his kirpa I am trying to so hard to develop. Just silently start japping waheguru in your mind and do not be drawn into any kind of confrontation. You see how most times the situation just dissolves itself.

If the other person doesn't stop, just step back with nimerta and say "Tuwno Jaadha Patha Ji" and walk away.

Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

    Waheguru.

    Appologies for my spelling mistakes...

Was just reading Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and came across the following lines by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji which just blew me away. It's very high avasta of which he explains, but we must aim for it....

    Ang 351
The Name has no form or outline; it vibrates with the unstruck Sound Current; through the Word of the Shabad, the Immaculate Lord is revealed. ||1||
tis roop na raykh anaahad vaajai sabad niranjan kee-aa. ||1||

One can speak on this only when he knows it.
    karay vakhi-aan jaanai jay ko-ee.

He alone drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||Pause||
    amrit peevai so-ee. ||1|| rahaa-o.

Those who drink it in are enraptured; their bonds and shackles are cut away.
jinH pee-aa say masat bha-ay hai tootay banDhan faahay.

When one`s light blends into the Divine Light, then the desire for Maya is ended. ||2||
jotee jot samaanee bheetar taa chhoday maa-i-aa kay laahay. ||2||

Among all lights, I behold Your Form; all the worlds are Your Maya.
sarab jot roop tayraa daykhi-aa sagal bhavan tayree maa-i-aa

Among the tumults and forms, He sits in serene detachment; He bestows His Glance of Grace upon those who are engrossed in the illusion. ||3|| raarai roop niraalam baithaa nadar karay vich chhaa-i-aa. ||3

The Yogi who plays on the instrument of the Shabad gains the Blessed Vision of the Infinitely Beautiful Lord.
beenaa sabad vajaavai jogee darsan roop apaaraa

He, the Lord, is immersed in the Unstruck Shabad of the Word, says Nanak, the humble and meek. ||4||8||
sabad anaahad so saho raataa naanak kahai vichaaraa. ||4||8||

The divine crystalline harmonies, their consorts, and their celestial families raag ratan paree-aa parvaar.
    - from them, the essence of Ambrosial Nectar is produced.
    tis vich upjai amrit saar

O Nanak, this is the wealth and property of the Creator Lord.
naanak kartay kaa ih Dhan maal

If only this essential reality were understood! ||4||9||
jay ko boojhai ayhu beechaar. ||4||9||

The true ladder is the True name from Waheguru's mouth. (i.e. Listening to the anhad shabad and following it...)
    sach pa-orhee saacha-o mukh naaN-o.

    Ang 352

The Vedas continually speak of the three branches.
    saakhaa teen kahai nit bayd.
One who merges/absorbs into the Naad,
    naad bind kee surat samaa-ay.
serves the True Guru and obtains the supreme status.
    satgur sayv param pad paa-ay.

When my mind turned away from Maya, I came to dwell in my own home.
    ulat bha-ee ghar ghar meh aani-aa. (1)

Serving the True Guru, they drink in the Amrit, the Ambrosial Nectar.
satgur sayv amrit ras chaakhay. ||3||
The unstable mind is restrained by tasting this Nectar.
    chalta-o man raakhai amrit chaakhai
Serving the True Guru, one comes to cherish the Ambrosial Nectar of the Shabad.
    satgur sayv amrit sabad bhaakhai

Through the True Word of the Shabad, the state of liberation is obtained.
    saachai sabad mukat gat paa-ay.

O Nanak, self-conceit is eradicated from within. ||4||13||
    naanak vichahu aap gavaa-ay. ||4||13||

That night I never slept a wink. I had a constant sound in my ear. My state of mind has become quite biragee and whilst listening to kirtan/simran yesterday the tears were just flowing. When I now say Waheguru it definitely feels as if the voice is coming from the chest. The anand from the simran feels a lot more sweet. Don't feel like working or doing anything. Just feel like reading gurbani and listening to Waheguru Mantar.

I am not sure if I should write this but think I might have just experienced something.

I was lying down on the sofa just thinking about waheguru when I had this urge to do simran. I started the jaap and my voice sounded so clear. I became totally engrossed in the sound and then all of a sudden my voice and breath suddenly merged into perfect union all by themself without me trying to force it. Then it felt like a ball of energy started shooting up and down inside of me between my chest and navel. It was really powerful. All of a sudden I became aware of what was happening to me so I stopped out of fear. I'm still a little shaken up by the experience.

My simran battery was becoming a bit flat for the past week or so and it needed bit of kick start. Resumed reading of SGGS alongside simran thoughout the day and low and behold gear has engaged again. Waheguru

Think I had to be told.. as Guru Nanak Dev Ji says

    Ang 243
How can giving donations to charities and countless cleansing baths wash off the filth within the heart?
punn daan anayk naavan ki-o antar mal Dhovai.

Without the Naam, no one attains salvation. Stubborn self-discipline and living in the wilderness are of no use at all.
naam binaa gat ko-ay na paavai hath nigrahi baybaanai.

O Nanak, the home of Truth is attained through the Shabad. How can the Mansion of His Presence be known through duality? ||3||
naanak sach ghar sabad sinjaapai dubiDhaa mahal ke jaanai. ||3||

True is Your Name, O Dear Lord; True is contemplation of Your Shabad.
tayraa naam sachaa jee-o sabad sachaa veechaaro.

True is the Mansion of Your Presence, O Dear Lord, and True is trade in Your Name.
tayraa mahal sachaa jee-o naam sachaa vaapaaro.

Trade in Your Name is very sweet; the devotees earn this profit night and day.
naam kaa vaapaar meethaa bhagat laahaa andino.

Other than this, I can think of no other merchandise. So chant the Naam each and every moment.
tis baajh vakhar ko-ay na soojhai naam layvhu khin khino.

Speaking of heart, I'm noticing a weird kind of warmth in the chest recently. It's like when I breath in and out Wahe-Guru is being recitied there. Like my voice has moved into the chest. Just feel like closing my eyes and focusing my dyaan/simran there.

I was reading SGGS when I came to Ang 152. My jaw dropped and I nearly fell over. I am sure you have all read this but if you haven't I hope you find it as enlightening and inspiring as I did. A few pangti's may be missing because they are taken from my own notes. The baani has been written by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Waheguru.....

About 6 months focus on naam simran now and before that about 1 year on mool mantar. Before that it was just reading books and listening to kirtan katha but I was still lacking inspiration do the practical myself. Only over the past 2 years have I moved up a gear and more so in the last 6 months.

If my post inspires even just one person then I really consider it worth while. Go for it Singh!!!

I'm reading Guru Granth Sahib Ji (english translation) along side naam simran and its really giving me the push I need. The amount of focus that is placed on naam/shabad unity with Almighty is just really shocking me to the max. To the point i'm getting quite annoyed by the fact that if Guru Granth Sahib Ji placed so much focus on naam simran being the only means by which we will reach Waheguru why weren't we told about it in Gurdwaras more. Maybe it was me who just wasn't taking it in. Why aren't we told this is what you need to do and this is how you go about doing it....

There are days when I run out of steam and the desire isn't there but when I read a few more angs it gives me the kick I need to get me going again. Actually i'm hooked reading Guru Ji. Can't even focus at work, just want to keep reading. My respect for my Gurus is increasing daily. Guru Amar Das ji' belows me away every time, actually they all do. Going to get shitter at work if they find out what I'm doing. I find myself totally becoming withdrawn from what is going on in the outside world. Don't care about news, tv, movies, family etc either i'm holding my phone or ipad. I'm really seeing a difference in me. Its growing to such an extent that my own mother is getting concerned and telling me to slow down and keep my feet on the ground and says I got my whole life ahead of me yet.

The only advice I'm able to give anyone is keep the simran going throughout the day whilst your doing your day to day stuff. From the moment I get up I try and start. Getting ready, journey to work, lunch times, take a few minutes off during work and just do simran eyes open or closed, journey home. I bet the other travelers are saying what is that guy mumbling to himself. If your able to dedicate fix time to it then so much the better. This is the part I'm really finding difficult to do. My legs and backside ache and I can't sit for long and the discomfort over powers the concentration your trying to reach. I find myself looking at the clock to see if times up or my thoughts just keep coming and I get frustrated but there are times when you know you had a good session even if it was just for a few moments.

I'm happy to share so here goes:

Last night before I went to sleep I was reading SGGS and the house was very quiet. Mrs is away so no snoring in my ears. lol. When it's quiet this whistling sound manifests itself. I can hear the sound coming from the right side. This time not only was there a whistling sound but a second beat like a drum. How I wish I was a musician so i could replicate what I was hearing. It was weaker than the whistle but I could definately make it out. Really freaked me out at first. Have never heard that sound before.

I spoke to a naam abhiyaasi mahapursh about it who said I was on the right track but I shouldn't focus on the sound yet. He said I need to remain focused on my naam simran and learn to still my thoughts. Also for the past few weeks the saliva in my mouth has been feeling extremely sweet. So much so that its actually becoming really difficult to tolerate. When I do simran it flows more and more. I'm still skeptical about what I'm experiencing because I feel I'm not actually putting in that much effort. Although some days are better than others.

Waheguru Mere Bharaya Hath Rakhe and bless me with his Naam...

The drips are definitely becoming more intense. Yesterday during simran this stuff was just falling down from the roof of the pallet. I think I have reached the stage where I just accept it and learn to enjoy it. Nothing much more one can do.

Bhagat Singh, I think we just have to draw the line what tests we can perform and post on here. Lol

    Savinderpal,

This whole issue has been discussed many times when they first started up. You can find many threads on sikhsangat about him.

But to put it simply they have a 1 year naam abhyaas course where you probably stay there and do a serious about amount of daily naam abhyaas under their guidance. At the end they give you a certificate from their institution called Brahm Gyan University stating you completed the 1 year naam abhyaas course. I don't believe it states you are now officially a "Brahmgiani", which was how people started interpreting it. Think there is also a 4 year course.

Yes they have certainly raised the bar in who can partake in Amrit. They believe one should have a certain level of kamiyee and reached a certain avasta before you should present yourself to take amrit. I'm not 100% sure but I think as a minimum you should have reached the stage of anhad shabad. Even after taking the amrit I think you have to commit to spending another year doing further strong naam abhyaas as some other jugties are taught in the amrit sanchar.

They certainly believe in quality not quantity.

Think the aim is to develop pacharaks with practical kamyeee as well as knowing teachings of Guru Maharaj.

I really like his lectures. He is one of the rare few who openly emphasized that one should do waheguru simran and you should focus your dhiyan on dhun of the gurmantar. He also discussed some very advanced stages of sunn, chota pad, dasam duar.
