Spirituality of Navratri (9 nights) and Dassehra (10th Day)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The journey starts at night which represents the Agianta(ignorance) since the soul comes into this illusionary world of maya by obtaining a body and gets stuck in time and space due to the ignorance. Think of the Body as a cave. The nine nights represent the 9 holes/doors in the body thru which the soul experiences the world of Maya/Illusion. These nine doors are the 9 orifices or the doors that open to the outside world namely (2 eyes, 2 nostrils, 2 ears, 1mouth, and 2 below the belt= total of 9). The transaction/attachment thru these 9 holes keeps us bondage to the ignorance/agianta.
Dassehra is celebrated during the day to represent the light, wisdom, victory over ignorance. The 10th door/hole (also known as the dassam dwaar, Guru-dwaar, Hari-dwaar, also mentioned by Jesus as-knock and the door will open, 3ed eye, the pineal gland) is located above the other nine holes and is closed to the outer world.
During this journey of 10 days, the meditation is done to transcend/detach these 9 doors and celebrate the opening of the 10th door with the light of the Ultimate Creative Energy. This can only happen because of HIS grace, not because of the meditation alone.
May this celebration be of your soul to transcend the 9 doors of ignorance and fruit of opening of the 10th door/wisdom.

I have actually finished reading the book at really enjoyed it. Was a real eye opener and has somewhat changed my perception of what I believed God to be. Obviously one can truly never comprehend that true nature until one reaches such high avasta.

Pangtis by Guru Arjan Dev Ji on Ang 370 touch upon it.

First, I renounced my egotistical love of myself.
    parathmay ti-aagee ha-umai pareet.

Second, I renounced the ways of the world.

Renouncing the three qualities(Tamo =Sex, Anger, Greed, Attachment, Pride; Rajo = Hopes, Wishes and Desires, Sato = Compassion, contentment, Humility, Moral Control), I look alike upon friend and enemy.

And then, Turiya (the fourth state) of bliss was revealed to me by the Holy One.

In Vedant, Brahma's dream is referring to your current perception of the world itself -> the world is a dream.
The world is experienced by you, who is consciousness -> Atma/Brahma. You are currently perceiving reality in a dream state, meaning you are not perceiving what is absolutely real (Brahma), instead you are dreaming.
When you have no Brahmgyan (no knowledge of Brahma), no Atamgyan (no knowledge of consciousness), then it is said you are living in a dream state.
This is known as a dream state because when you are in a dream, everything appears real and solid. You think those things are happening to you for real. But in reality it is not real. It's not as real as when you wake up. When you wake up, everything that happened in the dream seems fuzzy and false. You thought you were seeing things clearly in the dream, you thought the dream was happening to you but when you wake up you realize you were not seeing anything clearly at all.
When you wake up from sleep you realize the dream is false. When you wake up (obtain knowledge) from your sleep (ignorance) you realize the dream (world) is false.
This world is a dream, you (Atma/Brahma) are dreaming it up. When you wake up, you will see Brahma, meaning you will see the reality of the world. Your everyday experience of reality is transformed into something spiritual and profound. You wake up to the reality of life, which is beautiful but also ugly. You see everything with utmost clarity.
This is what happens when Brahma wakes up.

When you read more and more gurban, doesnt that tell you to listen and become the vadbhagi that can hopefully hear anhad naad?
I have no idea what ddt teach about bhagti because reading gurbani is like reading about doing a practical. Someone can read a book about swimming thousands of times, but until they don't practically get in the water to try to swim;' the thousands of readings and memorising of texts will be useless.

Dharan is also known by Solar Plexus. I personally found that the best option is to use the Vacuum Method via "Nabhi Pump". But there are couple of other techniques which might be useful in your case:
Look for "How to fix Solar Plexus" section in this page: http://satgur.net/HealthIssue/Detail/22

Even now I'm aware it's there as taste sense is constantly active and aware. Going to get my doctor to run some blood tests just to rule out diabetes as sweet mouth and hair loss can sometimes be associated with this. I hope it's not relating to anything medical but best to just rule things out, after which just accept as grace and let whatever it is fulfill its purpose.
Pleased to read yesterday that Maskeen ji also experienced and documented it.
When I  questioned a few people about it they said accept it humbly and just swallow. Some got quite annoyed that I was complaining. Some abhiyasis make great efforts to experience it and because it came out of the blue relatively quickly to me I was seen to being unappreciative. In the early days I really struggled to cope and I told a mahapursh I can't handle it and I didn't want it anymore. After repeatedly being told to drink and me foolishly countering them with it's too sweet, there was a look of disgust and they said fine it will go away over time. I don't know what hurt me more, the disappointment they had in me for even complaining or maybe I didn't know what I was requesting. For months after that I lost it and it dawned on me that I had screwed up, but was relieved for a break from the sensation for a while. Over time I began to regret more and more that maybe in my ignorance I had put a road block in my own spiritual journey.
It came back again occasionally but never for long durations like before.
Lucky is spot on about it not always coming directly from simran but any focused religious task, like reading Gurbani or other religious texts.
After putting in some hard effort over a week ago its back and this time it is not showing any signs of stopping. Oh Balle Balle!!! Doing a little mental dance. Kind of pleased to have it back this time. Acts as a form of encouragement I'm moving again.

Keeping a mishary/sugar crystal in the mouth 24x7 is the best way I can describe it. It's as strong as it gets. I have had the privilege of drinking left over Amrit from an Amrit sanchar. This taste is just like drinking that all the time. I have just come to accept it as part of the process and almighty grace. It does subside if i stop simran for weeks but doesn't take much to trigger it again. Just needs focused dhyaan on Gurmantar for a few days and boom it's back.
I think Kabirs references are to the 2nd one I'm talking about.

Agreed, I can also eat and taste other flavours but the full blast of the sweet taste returns very quickly afterwards.
As far as I understand things now. There are two types of nectar from meditation.
    1) Appears in the early stages and is caused by inhalation and exhalation and focused concentration on gurmantar.
    2) When anhad naad becomes pargat then when one puts their surti on that a more intoxicating amrit nectar drips. This is probably the one referenced in Gurbani in some of the more advanced pangtis.

Maskeen ji also mentions the nectar from simran in his book Prabhu Simran.
Meditators in the Sikh world have been using rosary on a wide scale. By repeating Mool Mantra with rosary mind gets concentrated quickly. When some concentration is obtained by repeating Mool Mantra with the help of rosary and thereafter if Gur Mantra Waheguru, Waheguru is uttered repeatedly and loudly with the tongue, then with the grace of Guru ji, nectarious flavour starts trickling quickly. When repeating the name of God starts giving flavour then the name dwells on the tongue:-
prabh jee baseh saadh kee rasanaa.
God abides upon the tongues of His Saints.
    Naanak jan kaa daasan dasanaa.
Nanak is the servant of the slave of His slaves.
kabeer maeree simaranee rasanaa oopar raam.
Kabeer, my rosary is my tongue, upon which the Lord's Name is strung.
    kanthae maalaa jihavaa raam.
The mala is around my neck, and the Lord's Name is upon my tongue.
sehans naam lai lai karo salaam.
I repeat the Naam, the Name of the Lord, a thousand times, and bow in reverence to Him.

Now the Name which has dwelt on the tongue, is the rosary in the neck. This is the meditation of God. Appearance of flavour is the identification that the name has dwelt on the tongue. When such a person pronounces Waheguru, then a holy atmosphere is created around. If an uninitiated person comes near such a person, then his tongue will also utter Waheguru. Due to this reason these
words have been added in the Ardas:-
Introduce such lovely saints and Gurmukhs and due to union with them, we may recall Your name.

Whether the saliva is sweet or not doesn't really matter, the senses are perceiving that a sweet nector is in the mouth. Just accept the parshad from the divine and drink it in.

I'm not too sure, but I was under the impression that if your dharan is displaced, then this leads to many medical problems like hernias, IBS, gall bladder etc.  I didn't think that hernias cause displacement of dharan but dharan displacement can cause hernias..
Dharan is not the physical navel but is situated behind it isn't it?
I don't  think that conventional medic profession has a term for it ?

similar thing happened to me this morning. When I was meditating I had this sweet taste everytime I swallowed and it stayed for a while after meditation. It actually started happening about 2 days ago and I found it's getting stronger each day and lasting longer. Whenever it occurs it only occurs when I am meditating. My saliva tasted sort of sweet and when I swallowed it was even sweeter. Could I be experiencing what u describe. All replies appreciated. Thanks
