That is the tradition around it - that it was compiled in Hazoor Sahib and entered Punjab around the Maharaja Ranjit Singh period.
I think Pandit Tara Singh Narotam is the first Sikh to mention the Sarbloh Granth around the 1860s or 1870s. Before that it is neither mentioned nor quoted from.
The following are mentioned in the manglacharan:
Ik Oankaar Satgur Prasaad
Ram Chander
Guru Nanak
Guru Gobind Singh
Vidiyaguru Maan Singh
According to Bhai Tirath Singh Ram Chander is praised in the beginning due to his position as the Yug avatar of a previous age. This position is then extended to Guru Nanak wherein it is explicitely stated that Guru Nanak has come in Kalyug and has removed the older practices of the previous yuga. In this way both are considered as Yug avatars with Guru Nanak having replaced Ram Chander. Whereas Ram Chander is praised for having built a bridge that brought people across the ocean of existence, - Guru Nanak is praised as being the raft itself that will carry people across the ocean of existence. The lineage is then continued to Guru Gobind Singh and down to Pandit Maan Singh from whom Pandit Gulab Singh got his knowledge (Vidiya, Shanti, Sugyaan and Sukhi).
There are many passages within the Gobind Gita that links it to the Khalsa. I studied it some years ago and came across many passages similiar to this:
These teachings apply equally to the Khalsa
It was for the benefit of the Khalsa, that Krishna discussed these topics. etc. Sarbloh Granth at many Places also Refer to the Gita and Upanishads
Whatever is in the mind, comes forth; spoken words by themselves are just wind.
He sows seeds of poison, and demands Ambrosial Nectar. Behold - what justice is this? ||2||
- Satguru Angad Maharaj
Minas and Masands are now largely extinct. Dhir Malias have descendants to this day (the Sodhis of Kartarpur), and there are Ram Raiyas in Dehra Dun. In the 1891 census 52,317 Hindus and 30,396 Sikhs returned themselves as 'Ram Raia' . (Census of India, 1891, Vol.XX and Vol.XXI, The Punjab and its Feudatories, by E.D. Maclagan, Part II and III, Calcutta, 1892, pp.826-9 and pp.572-3.) However there are no contemporary official numbers, (see also the note at the end of the Explanatory Introduction).
http://www.philtar.ac.uk/encyclopedia/sikhism/minas.html
The Mina tradition eventually died out during the 1800s - I dont think it was a competitive strike at Guru Granth Sahib but rather an indication of Sikh supremacy in literature and influence.
not at all. It's from the early reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It belongs to the Mina literature.
It's heavily influenced by the style, vocab and meters of Guru Granth Sahib. I've seen it referenced in writings on how the Guru Granth Sahib influenced Punjabi literature and sacred writings outside the Sikh fold

in the introduction to the Dasam Granth there is a sakhi where Maharaj blesses a woman by touching her with the tip of his arrow. She asks him why he did not touch her with his hand, and he says "I have never, and will never ever touch a woman besides my own wife".
very beautiful. A similiar story can be found with Imam Ali when he was fighting Aisha in war and he sent a man to pick her arm and bring her to him. she said "how dare you touch me?" (as it is haram for a muslim man to touch a woman) whereas the man removed his scarf and she saw that it was her brother. Imam Ali sent her brother to go get her instead of letting a non-family member touch her.
There is nothing in Islam that suggests that wahi(revelation) is not possible after the Prophet. I think Rumi and Al Ghazali also claimed to recieve words of God and even in the Quran there are examples of non-prophets recieving revelations (the mother of Jesus etc).
There is a saying: Nanak Shah faqeer. Hindu ka Guru, musalman ka pir.
In the mystic traditions of Islam and "hinduism" it is only the guru/pir who can evolve you spiritually, and not the rituals described in the quran/vedas.
That the saying says Pir for the muslims and not rasul/nabi says it all. Its not "bowing down to Islam" as some would say but rather that the two religions are compatible hence on two different levels.
The Gurus never used the terms rasul or nabi, nor are these titles given to the Gurus in the persian hymns of Bhai Nand Lal.
From an Islamic sufi point of view Sikhi could be considered a tariqa, an order with a Sheikh that guides the individual above the sharia level. As far as I remember, the titles of supreme Sheikh and murshid are given to the Gurus in Bhai Nand Lals hymns which means that when Bhai Nand Lal presented Sikhi to a muslim audience he never claimed that the Gurus were prophets after Muhammad.
It is an ancient discussion in all major religions whether the rule set is to be followed eternally by the people or whether one can reach such a state where one does not need to follow the rules anylonger. The jews of the Kabalah, Sufis of Islam etc all claimed that it was possible to reach a higher stage where rules (Talmud/Sharia) no longer applied to them because "the rules are a walking stick that teaches you how to walk. Once you learn to walk you no longer need the stick and hence get rid of it".
I've heard some Sikhs say the same, - that the rahit becomes insignificant at some point because you are already living Sikhi inside out - the soul being in constant vibration. one Singh cited this tuk as ref:
ਕਬੀਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਇਕ ਸਿਉ ਕੀਏ ਆਨ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Kabeer, when you are in love with the One Lord, duality and alienation depart.
ਭਾਵੈ ਲਾਂਬੇ ਕੇਸ ਕਰੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਘਰਰਿ ਮੁਡਾਇ ॥੨੫॥
You may have long hair, or you may shave your head bald. ||25||
The Akal Thakht jathedar has made a proclamation yesterday that it’s the religious duty of Sikhs to protect Kashmiri girls from rape and violence all over India.
