We have designed apps for children and adults looking to learn the basics of Punjabi. The apps are FREE, and there are NO ads. Available on IOS/Apple, Android, Windows 10/8, Windows Phone and Kindle.
Amrit Punjabi has published sets of free tools with one simple goal - let's teach children Punjabi. Sikh and Punjabi children not in their homeland grow up in diverse languages, and may not learn Punjabi effectively. We hope that this contribution to the Sangat bears fruit.
Punjabi Alphabet - designed for children and adults looking to learn the basics of Punjabi; the Punjabi Alphabet (Panti Akhar, Panjabi, Panjabi Alphabet, Gurmukhi), common Animals, Fruit, Vegetables, Colors, Shapes and Numbers.

Punjabi Spelling - designed for children and adults looking to learn the spelling of common words in Punjabi. It helps build associations and encourages word and sound formations in the form of a game. With a core of more than 225 Punjabi words, the randomization used results in over 2,300 variations of words presented in the quizzes, and all the presented options are also randomized!

Check out the apps and website and share them with your networks. You can send suggestions to support@amritPunjabi.com

It has too much power since colonialism.
Even calling it Shiromani is an insult.

I think Sikhs need to grasp the concept of 'Indic' (which plays a big part in their heritage - although it is not the be all and end all) and not equate this too 'Hinduism', which (to me) looks like another modern colonial era construct (like 'Sikhism')?

The Khalsa “adapted” Khshatriya Maryada because the Khalsa is a Panth of Khshatriyas.
The Dharam has always been around. History and time had shrouded it until Guru Sahib Ji was Pargat.
if you look into indian history. Ancient Khshatriyas even adorned uncut Kes: long uncut hair, mustaches and beards. This tradition was so strong that protecting one’s Joora in battle was a must. Warriors of opposing tribes and kingdoms would actively attempt to cut each other’s topknots off as it was a sign humiliation and dishonor for the victim. Shaving the mustache and beard was also similarly dishonorable.
The Dharam has always been around. It’s just indians and other peoples that have gradually forgotten their roots.
The Sikh Panth is only a revival of this true Dharam.

I have been going on the Sikh subreddit on Reddit. It is run by american sikhs and get a lot of non-sikh viewers and posts as well. Some external people interested in sikhi or even becoming sikhs post too!
There needs to be more sikhi subreddit forums on there, at the moment it's way too concentrated, and I am suggesting sikhawareness make one on there.
There are many curious people from around the world on there.
But my idea is not to have a separate forum on there, and instead just feed sikhawareness threads into a sikhawareness subreddit, this way minimal resources are required to manage the subreddit. I am sure this will also increase sikhawareness guests or member. Have a look at the r/sikh subreddit to get an idea how things are like on there.

Sikh Havans are different from Hindu Havans. Namdharis still do it. They read Sri Japjee Sahib from Aad Gurbani and Sri Jaap Sahib, Sri Chaupai Sahib, Sri Akal Ustat Sahib, Sri Ugardanti Sahib, Sri Chandi de vaar and Sri Chandi Charitar doosra from Dasam Gurbani.
Don't the Udhasis read any Gurbanis from Sri Aad, Sri Dasam or Sri Sarabloh?

Singh means the Highest Self" - Gobind Gita P:10

Below is a passage from Guru Gobind Singh's version of the Bhagavad Gita, and relates to the 11th chapter of the Gita wherein Krishna reveals his true form, the Universal Form, to Arjan. Guru Gobind Singh quotes Guru Nanak's Aarti just prior to this passage to expound upon the Universal Form of Vahiguru, and then this passage follows which explains the reason why named all his followers Singh. In the 11th chapter of the Gita, related to the Universal Form [of Vahiguru], Arjan had seen Prabhu's true form. 126॥ I, Gobind [Singh] have in every way related this to the Khalsa, the reality of all of this I have written in the vernacular. I have given all [my Sikhs] the name Singh, while living I have made their name 'The Highest Self' [Paramatma]   ਸਿੰਘ ਅਰਤ ਬੇਦੋਂ ਕੇ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ 127॥ The definition of Singh is within the Vedas, it is the highest Braham, the Highest Self. Just as Indra [recognized Hari in all] in the Upanishads, [in this manner] I have made the definition of Singh [Paramatma]. 128॥ Recognize the definition of Singh to be the Highest Self, and understand everything is the one Braham. 129॥ Within the [Khalsa's] mouth, I have placed [the word] Akal, chanting Akal they obtain Akal. This is my blessing brother, my intuitive secret I have expressed to you. 130॥ The rest is in your hand if you wish to enshrine this [in your heart], to see Hari always in your company. Nothing else will take you across, As is your understanding so is your position [be liberated or in hell]. 131॥ Whatever you desire you will obtain, if you enshrine Akal in your mind. Without you [Akal] there is nothing else, whatever you see that is Gobind [the Protector of the World]   ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਨਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਹੀਂ ਭਾਈ ॥ 132॥ Brother, there is nothing other than Gobind, see the world and Braham as one. - Gobind Gita, chapter 11

I find this painting of Ranjit Singh's court very interesting! The turbans, ear-rings, jewelry, the colours, the clothes, carpets and walls!
    It's so good!

Dudes carrying shastars in a meeting. Can you imagine doing that in an office meeting lol. Walk in with a big bandook! Place it on the table.
The puratan dumalla that our Guru Sahibs wore is pretty much extinct by this time. There is only one guy wearing this style from the 1600s.
There is are three guys wearing a turban style from the 1700s, which is similar to the puratan dumalla.
Most people are wearing a different turban style that we call patiala shahi turban today. There are also other 1800s turban styles like the one the Maharaja Ranjit Singh is wearing. and the kalgi is being placed in the front of the turban.
The nihang dastaar has become a boonga by this time, tall with chakkars stacked. This turban is never seen painted before the 1800s.
Everyone is wearing a mix of colours. Only the Nihang is fully dressed in blue.

A gurdwara in New Zealand has started accepting card payments as well as cash in the golak.
Imagine the queue building up for people of who want to give darshani petha via card. Some gurdwaras are too forward thinking that the essence is lost. Unbelievable!

Most likely, automatic weapons are more readily available in Pakistan compared to North India (except Kashmir).
Compare on youtube - Indian wedding firing videos Vs Pakistan wedding firing videos. They seem to have more powerful weapons.
For example, have a look below
