  1. Bhai Binod Singh parted ways with Baba Banda Singh in Gurdas Nangal, so this would mean that when BSB left Darbar Sahib Bhai Binod Singh went with him. Also there is a sakhi of Bhai Baaj Singh being executed with BSB in delhi, so Baaj Singh would have left Darbar Sahib with him as well. Bandai Khalsa came into existence after BSB, and having a chaur waved over you in not a sign of Guruhip. There are paintings of Mah. Ranjit Singh darbar where he is having chaur waved over him. That chaur waving is a non-issue.
  2. gian singh isnt the be all and end all of sikh history. Banda Singh's last days were spent in hunger and watching his men die from hunger. yet a writer who probably never experienced 1% of the hardship BSB did calls him a looter. this gian singh is also the one who called nihangs murderers as well. also the persian sources called all religious leaders "guru". Banda Singh Bahadur was called as the Guru of the Sikhs, but in the respect of him being the head of their spiritual order.
  3. its being repaeted on bbc3 at 3.10am on monday morning. me sky plussing it.
  4. yes it is Bhai Nand Lal's rehitnama. but the oldest surviving rehat is Aad Guru Darbar.
  5. but is it these forms exclusively? No. This is where we differ from the HIndus in our view of Chandi, to them it is the tiger riding devi, to Sikhs it is the sword. This shakti has many names and forms but the first and permanent form of shakti is the sword. Any attempt to change this as some of the sanatanis seem to be doing(badly) will be unsuccessful, as Guru Ji's Bani and Karam show otherwise.
  6. where would you like to be with KamDev and Ratidev?
  7. obviously tarlochan singh doesnt know much about the radha swamis. i went a radha swami "meeting" recently, and im sure i wouldnt want to see Gurus saroop in that place.
  8. i have a few days ago got a book of Bhai Nand Lals Ghazals in english. it is amazing.
  9. lol. the pyar just grows and grows... but according to sharia, she should have been buried to her neck and then stoned to death, and he should have had 100 lashes.
  10. what about the grishti sikhs who are in the fauj? not all dal panth is bihangam.
  11. silent biker vs mouthy yob chav now these guys look they was mucking around but the execution of the manouvre is just superb
  12. some questions that have been on my mind for a few moons: Are Khusre alowed to take amrit? Why do khusre always have to dress as women, when they are clearly not women? Would Khusre be allowed to do sewa of Paath, kirtan or langar? Are thier lives for for any spiritual purpose? Should Sikhs give any priviledges to these people? Thanks!!
  13. what rubbish! this practice of the Hindu family bringing up the elder son as a sikh, was only practiced as far as i know in north western panjab. and every sikh's forefathers would not have been hindu necessarily, some could have been muslims, and most were actually the lowercaste people who werent actually acknowledged as hindus. rashpal has always been a fool.
  14. what a hassle to read. the book of revelations is in the old testament i think. and the notion of your enemy's enemy is your friend is nothing new.
  15. Hold on Bro. You're getting confused over my reply. In response to someone's questiuon about there being no teachings of the Hindu gods, I said that the Vedas is the first source of knowledge in this world. I didnt say it was the only knowledge. It came 3 yugs before Gurbani, hence making it an earlier source of knowledge. Why do you have to accept the authority of the vedas, if you acknowledge its existence? I accept it's existence, but certainly not it's authority over Gurbani. Gurmat/sikhi is the youngest religion in the world, all other books or sources of knowledge gita, bible etc came before Gurbani, but we dont accept their authority over Gurbani.
  16. Well the first source of knowledge/teaching in the universe are the vedas.
  17. what does the word chatka mean? Ive thought it to be "sudden strike" which has loosely fcome to mean a "one-strike finish." I think. that animal was massive and ive never seen goats like that in panjab. You get these bigger goats in mountainous areas. still ive seen buffalo decapitated in one strike so this could still be done on this goat-like creature with a good khanda.
  18. ok, and was this Chandi a sword or an 8-armed Lady riding on a tiger?
  19. DalSinghJi, I know this is slowly getting off topic but I would like your view of the Sikh panth regarding vienna incident. Do you feel Sikh Leadership (sgpc/badal dal) were diplomatic or sycophantic in their approach towards dalits?
  20. Nobody is asking you to Manbir Singh Ji. What I am asking you is that the very good advice the Prof Darshan gave to you, does he act opon it himself? If he asked you to read it did, you ask him if he has sat down and read the whole granth from beginning to end to reach this conclusion? Or did you just walk away thinking that you had actually got an answer to your excellent question?
  21. yes diplomacy is where a great deal of us fall. I think with the newer generation this will not be such a problem.
  22. Ok. So you quoted this to Prof Darshan Singh and asked him why he felt he didnt need to learn more about DG?
