Khalsa Aid if it's accounts are anything to go by, is hoarding over a million pounds, and if its charity work is anything to go by, is not interested in the Sikhs or Panjab by any noticeable margin.
Otherwise Gurdwaras are holding a lot of money but seem to be fixated on bricks and mortar development rather than anything else.

In the UK, some people tried to set up a UK Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee. Unfortunately it morphed into the Sikh Council, which quite frankly was disappointing.

My parents generation certainly are. They don't really have a clue these days. But with our generation when the time comes, we will be better at organising and such.

Do you think that maybe we need to add political power to that as well? Sikhs in the UK are considered quite educated and financially strong, but we don't seem to get much else done here.

this also gave birth to the "tradition" that Hindus brought up their 1st son as a Singh. They only did this to eat well, and then when there was no glory in bringing up 1st sons as part of a fallen empire, they just did the things they have been doing for yugs.

actually bro, i dont think all these traditions were intact.look at the idols and prabandh of gurdwaras pre SS. There wasnt much charity going on.

i dont think the sikhs were very progressive at the time of the SS lehar. That is why IMO the lehar had such an effect amongst the Sikhs. Also it is unfair to treat the SgPC wholesale as unscholarly, as in early times of the moevment most of the gianis took their vidya from Taksal. I agree with you now, though that they do act like thickos.

But martial, linguistic, musical traditions deffo have taken a setback.

this is also down to the ravan state, killing any sikh of any ability in the 80s/90s. I've always thought that the govt planned not just to destroy the khalistan movement but to make sure that the sikhs were not able to doing anything similiar for decades to come.

what has been rejected is the methods that the sikhs chose in 80s although i beleive they were the correct methods at the time. ie the way of the gun, simply becaus eof the way they rebounded on the sikh people. But now i think that the khalistan movement would gain more support if it was allowed to preach it through the ballot box/political stage. This the govt know and they will never allow debate on it.

but from people who i have spoken to, they still harbour sentiments towards the movement.

obaidullahs father also converted to islam as well. this obaidullah was a communist and he tried to enlist russian support to fight the british rule in india. The brits refused to let him back into india when they found out what he was trying to so.

its amazing how easy it was to muslims to convert hindus to islam. i mean 7000 hindus converted by one guy? crazy. why the sikhs dont this much emphasis on parchaar i dont know.

You are not British and neither is anyone else on this forum AFAIK.

How many times have you used variations of the above in your posts?
How many times have you written "Nanuck" "Guroo" "HIndoo" ?

The summary provided by Sikhkhoj deliberately left out the important pieces of information. His post made it sound like the scholars were the writers of the text whereas they were only the narrators of the text in Sanskrit.
No wonder he wouldn't put the whole text up, even after you asked him Amardeep, and I'm glad I looked it up to see if I could find it on the net because sikhkhoj's post simply wasn't the whole truth.
This is the danger of having people with agendas on the forum. They deliberately misrepresent, and the onus falls on goats like me to bring the whole story. I wonder how his fanclub will take it. They loved every post of his. Like, like, like...

Thanks for informing us. I have noticed that there is a twitter tidal wave of indian vitriol against the Sikh people as a whole.
I would have to re-read the books of Hari Ram Gupta as I cannot recall these details. It's been a long time since I read them.
But the post itself is a way of our Maratha brothers making themselves feel better because ultimately they were a failure. They had massive armies, outnumbering Sikhs at least threefold. They had superior weapons to the Sikhs, as they began using artillery way before the Sikhs did, as Sikhs were still fighting mainly as cavalry.
What did the Maratha army acheive in the long term? They never managed to hold onto their own stronghold of Maharashtra.
And whats amusing is, that these Maratha supremacists revel in their fights against the Sikhs, of which they won some, but also lost some. Why fight Sikhs who essentially were sons of the soil? This only strengthened the outsider powers. What exactly did they achieve against the British or the Afghans?

I'll see if I can look up some info about this over the weekend.
