There is a lot more behind these incidents , they have been triggered to create enmity .

I dont look at it like that , i dont think she has done any mistake . I did tell her something similar to think over her decision but let me tell you in the market of religions, there are other religions which would be less challenging to follow . The Buddhist and Bahai are very popular with lesser issues . If she would have wanted to be at ease she could have chosen them . She has faced challenges and has been with Sikhi inspite of the fact that the indic values are clashing with her mindset.
We of indic origin are lost in addressing 'sahib' and 'ji' and doing some simran and sewa , we start seeing a halo around ourselves . Let us learn to accept the odds, the Gurus did this too.
Bhai Mardana ji  even though being a Muslim was a follower of Guru Nanak, following him playing the rabab. What do we know of his diet and habits ?
If you have ever visited Sachkhand Sri Hazoor Sahib especially during Dussehra and Holi look around what you get to see Sikligars, Lambada tribals Vanjharas , all of these have followed Guru Gobindsingh ji and most of them are not keshdhari , do not speak Punjabi ,which means they do not totally blend with the roop of Sikhi but still are with the Panth. Thanks to the Hazoori singhs who have accepted them as they are. The Punjabis couldnt even tolerate the Majhbis and Ravidassis who are more blended with the Punjabi culture.

I do not want to judge her faith and love for Sikhi , up above there is the Guru and Akaal Purakh to judge . I know for sure myself that i couldnt even do this , i havent taken amrit nor have kes, i am not even fit to be a dog of the Guru ghar.

A very nice read Satkiran. Good on ya.
Chatanga, let's keep the arguments for another thread, eh? This one is a good inspiration, especially for those not "born in to Sikhi ".

Ram as in Raja Ramchander ji is considered the element of good and Ravan as the element of negativity which is why during Dussehra Ravan's idol is burnt..
Ram is worshipped as messenger of Parmatma and as Parmatma's Himself too...and folklore says He was sent to destroy Ravan.
So when Guru Gobindsingh ji in His Bani brings the focal point to Parmatma Waheguru..this tuk would mean the Good and Evil both have gone, nothing remains ..the constant is Parmatma ..The Nirankaar Akaal..

Has anyone noticed that when one is reciting Gurmantar, it triggers Mool Mantar in the mind (as some sort of background noise) or vice-versa?
    Thanks

Wanda is my birth name... Harkiran once I took a Sikh name and H came up as the letter... the significance of Harkiran was my Dad just before he died in 2001, he said something about 'remembering the light' so I wanted light in the meaning.
I was using Satkirin because I didn't want to use my real name in forums... but I don't care anymore.

That's good.............but Sat, it's actually a little more than that.
You see the mantra itself helps to wake up and manifest the powers of the MIND.
Our limited buddhi doesn't even realise the powers that are hidden and tucked away in this Jyot Saroop Mann.
Thus, Mantra is a 'tool' that is specific in knocking and waking that mind.
    NOTE ...man-tra is man=Mind and tra= Tool.

Bro, science is below Satguru jee's hukam. Waheguru's command is to protect cows (not sure about buffaloes), so Khalsa (when in power) will protect them.
Consuming plant food is clearly permitted in Gurbani, even though scientifically speaking, plants are being killed and suffer pain too.
Bottom line - Almighty God's commands have to be followed,

Lol roasting eggplant is not the same as roasting a chicken.
By plucking the eggplant off a plant, you didn't kill the plant, it can grow back. But when you roast a chicken, you killed the chicken.

And boiling an aloo/potatio and boiling an egg are not the same. When you boil an aloo you kill the plant. When you boil an egg you killed nothing.

He is right that certain plants are killed. But he is wrong that vegetarian diets only involve killing plants. He is ignoring the vast amount of nutrition that comes from plants that are still alive and grow back, and some plants that want you to eat parts of them.

    In nature
    - flowers encourage insects to consume their nectar to spread the pollen around
    - that flower becomes fruit and produces proper seeds, trees encourage animals to feed on their fruit to spread the seed around through poop
    - although plants discourage grazing of their leaves... it is only because of animal grazing that the environment can become suitable for plants to grow. Animals soften the soil by walking on it and add to the nutrient content of the soil by pooping on it. Animals carry certain seeds with them on their fur that they distribute far away from the parent plant

When you eat Fruits, certain vegetables and leaves, the Jeev is NOT killed. Let's be clear on this.

We have to give lekha for everything. We have to give lekha for the air we breathe, for the many microorganisms we destroy, for the water we drink, for the milk we drink, for the plants we kill and for the animals we kill.

Killing animals is a greater lekha than killing plants. So as per sant mahapurash, killing animals will have a greater karmic effect than just killing plants.

There is a lekha for everything, we cannot escape, it is scary. The only time we dont give lekha is when our mind is engrossed in simran ( in simple terms). And how many times does that happen ?

So it is better to not incur so much lekha that we have to become a goat. hen etc just to get our throats slit.

Only those who themselves have reached the turiya pad etcetc can talk about such high things, because they dont incur lekha.

For dumb people like us, it is better we just follow what has been advised by the mahapurakhs and sants, instead of using our own intelligence or interpretation.

But remember there is a lekha for everything, for the plants, for the grains, for the milk and for the meat. choice is ours.
