Practical Ways Of Avoiding Lust
Xylitol replied to paapiman's topic in Sikhi | Questions and Answers
A few points that worked for me when I was younger: burn up all your body’s energy. don’t go to bed with lots of energy left in your body. workout, work, do whatever you need, but this excess energy might bother you if you go to bed with too much in your body. Stay busy in simran, sangat, seva, learning, work, studying whatever. just stay busy. socializing with sangat who are clean is helpful. You’ll know if they are clean b/c you can feel their energy, or at the very least notice if you get increase of wrong thoughts around them working towards a large goal really helps to channel your focus and discipline (as noted above). avoid eating overly sweet or salty or spicy foods. This is especially important in the late afternoon. Avoid all achar from late afternoon onwards. The increased acidity from these foods irritates the sensitive nerves in the genitals, causing the surti to be pulled down. If the surti is just down there, that’s not such a big deal, but most of us will then start to get kaam thoughts b/c we lack discipline. don’t eat too much, only eat as much as the body needs. don’t eat from the hands of a vikaari person, their negative energy will mess with the food you eat. Bhagti things that help: continual simran, it might be easier if you plant your surti in one of the chakras, as it helps anchor it up high. the key is to prevent it from going to the lower chakra. going low isn’t bad, but just makes it more likely to have kaam thoughts b/c of their association with this area. imagine the star on Guru Nanak Sahib ji’s holy charan placed at this chakra, it will help raise your surti. to always have a recording of simran or bani playing helps. When one ear gets tired, switch the mp3 players headphone to the other ear. I used to do this even when watching tv or sleeping. There is a sakhi in which Baba Nand Singh ji advises once per week as maximum. If your partner is amenable it may help to sleep on opposite sides of the bed. Keep in mind that in grihast marg, especially with western partners, we have to be really careful of the other person's feelings. Most Sikhs nowdays are not willing to make sacrifices to advance, and to put forward the idea of making sacrifices in the bedroom is something that goes against most people's understandings, and might hurt their feelings. -
There was always a theorized missing link between humans and apes. Well, not too long ago the remains of humanoids were found that were placed so far back in the evolutionary past that the current, updated theory of evolution is that humans evolved from other human species, not from apes. It usually takes a long time for popular science to catch up with actual scientific discovery so you might not hear about this

Dear Kiran Kaur ji, All those experiences are normal. They will go away by themselves when it is time for them to go away. Also, when you focus, try not to focus with too much pressure, just with a relaxed gaze. If the pressure happens by itself, it is ok. No need to worry about any of this. But please don't stop meditating.

vir ji, I would say that the letter is always pronounced as written, especially a dadda. Other letters can be modified by a bindey where appropriate. But bindey does not apply to dadda. That being said, I recognize that there are different schools of thought when it comes to santhya so I don't want to get into debate on the matter. Just wanted to share an alternative viewpoint. bhul chuk maaf.

Is it allowed to stay unmarried?
Xylitol replied to ConvertGirl's topic in Formal Debates & Discussions
Congrats on the decision and I appreciate the thoughtfulness in your question. Bhenji, I guarantee you that it's no harder to get married as a Sikh than it is as anything else. There are loads of Sikhs, how do you think any of them got married? It's generally easier on this path to get married b/c it leads to a more stable jeevan in this life, but celibacy is allowed as well if you choose. -
Who was the next sant after Sant Balwant Singh (Sihore Wale) ji?
-
Bro it's difficult but you need to stay busy. Even if you have nothing to do do some seva, there's always dishes to be washed shoes to be cleaned at the Gurdwara!! That sadhsangat will help protect you. Try to stay in their energy more by going to Gurdwara more often. This is the biggest, easiest thing you can do. On top of that, I found salty or overly sweet foods cause increase in kaam, especially when eaten in the latter half of the day. Same with achar taken in later half of day. Coffee/tea are also stimulating. Eating from manmukh people, their negative thought energy in the food will influence you negatively. Don't leave lots of excess energy in the tank. Work out, go for a run or take martial arts. Burn up that excess energy in useful activity.

Not Sarbloh, just a regular mala, he picked up and japped something over. If you regularly use any mala it will raise it's vibrations and help focus your mind right when you pick it up. If anyone has any issues with bhoot etc best thing is to go meet a sant and get some help. I can tell you from personal experience that our progress on this path is much slower on our own. If we do sangat with a mahapursh (and obey their bachans) our progress will be much faster.

Hello, I've experienced that pressure that you speak of during meditation. It's a very nice feeling. I recommend that you get a physical done checking your BP and cholesterol etc. Everything is probably fine but it's smart to rule possible health causes b/c you could have spiritual stuff happening at the same time as a health issue. If the tests come out fine, than just follow the general rule which is 'let whatever is happening happen, stay detached, and keep on keeping on with the simran'.

Danger with Microwaves, WIFI and Cell phones
Xylitol replied to paapiman's topic in Health & Sports Forum
The state of California recently lost a lawsuit forcing them to admit the dangers of cellphone radiation and publicly reveal a great deal of shocking (to the public) revelations about the dangers of cellphone emf. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2017/03/15/cellphone-emf-dangers.aspx For more on EMF safety see http://www.electricsense.com. You can also buy emf safety products from www.lessemf.com. -
Or learn how to tie a dastaar properly so you can be like all other turban wearing people out there who have no problem like this whatsoever. Don't wear it so tight...

Jog Ras (Joganand) - A Bodily Pleasure
Xylitol replied to paapiman's topic in Comparative Religion | Philosophy
Kathakars commonly describe jog ras as something that is experienced only while the jogi is in deep meditation, but which disappears when the jogi leaves deep meditation. Naam ras, on the other hand, is experienced continuously b/c you can meditate as you do your worldly tasks. Although the degree of anand may change depending on how deeply you are able to focus on Naam. The higher up spiritually someone is, the more detached they are from the world, and therefore the greater their focus on Naam will be even while engaging in worlldly tasks. -

Giani Thakur Singh Ji on Brahm Kavach
Xylitol replied to Ragmaala's topic in Meditation | Simran | Bhakti | Jap
Shaheed Singhs are pleased by those who do jap and keep rahit. Basically live the ucha sucha life of gursikhs. A sadhu told me that we all get a shaheedi pehra around us when we take Amrit, but if a person fails to keep rahit than after some period of time (several weeks I think) the pehra is lost. If we live this lifestyle they can be around us, but we may not see or feel them. They often help in subtle ways, for example, if some people wish us harm they may change those peoples' thinking using their power. So the help can be subtle, not dramatic or visible at all, but still very significant. -
Danger with Microwaves, WIFI and Cell phones
Xylitol replied to paapiman's topic in Health & Sports Forum
Yup. Lots of evidence on dangers of wireless radiation. This is why cellphones all come with earpieces and small print that says to use the ear piece. They are getting ready to protect themselves for when the inevitable wave of lawsuits begin over brain tumours etc caused by excessive cell phone use. -
how to remain still in one asan for 3 hrs ?
Xylitol replied to karmjeet's topic in Meditation | Simran | Bhakti | Jap
The key when sitting in crossed leg postures is to just let the legs go to sleep. This will help overcome body consciousness. The feeling of the rug being off the ground etc is due to changes happening in the body, probably a purification of the inner ear channels (an area which is responsible for balance) creating an illusionary feeling. You can safely ignore it. There was a time when i used to feel like I was flying when I sat in asan. -
Advanced Stages Of Mantra Meditation
Xylitol replied to Sat1176's topic in Meditation | Simran | Bhakti | Jap
Actually, the crown chakra or brow chakra will also activate everywhere else. But a lot of people can't focus up there, but they can focus on naval chakra or heart chakra. The ideal is to focus on brow chakra and heart chakra at the same time with the greater portion of focus on the brow. if you cannot, then focus on the brow chakra. The heart chakra focus is very helpful b/c it opens up prem. -
how to remain still in one asan for 3 hrs ?
Xylitol replied to karmjeet's topic in Meditation | Simran | Bhakti | Jap
sitting up straight, and trying to remain alert and interested helps avoid sleep.leaning back or leaning forward increases drowsiness. also, getting enough sleep helps too. -
Just from personal experience. It seems to be much better at preventing excess dryness than coconut oil or mustard oil.

I think it is in the caption on some of the photos.
