UCL Sikh Soc spreading lies about Snatan Sikh Events

I have been distressed about the recent occurances within UCL Sikh Soc, send this email to everyone.

UCL sikh Society gave thier word(according to their own commitee member) last Monday saying that they supported the Snatan Sikh Event at their uni.

Then all of a sudden after their sikhi week talk(run by BOSS) on tuesday they changed their mind ! (Dilpreet the president, was surrounded by KultarSingh and Harjit Singh watford for 35 mins)

here is a copy of an email they sent to their students behind my back after BOSS and Kultar Singh intervention.

This is just a quick e-mail to thank you all for your help at UCL's Sikhi Week event last Tuesday, and to further let you know the talk that was scheduled to be held today (Tuesday 23rd November), has now been cancelled.

This is also true for the other lectures in this series as agreed by the relevant committees. Some of you may have heard this event may still be taking place, but this is untrue as no Sikh societies have been officially informed.

We apologise for any misinformation you may have received over the course of the last two weeks. This is now the committee's final position.

Fact1: The EVENT HAD NOT BEEN CANCELLED!

Fact2: THEY WERE OFFICALLY INFORMED MANY WEEKS AGO, HENCE WHY THIER NAME IS ON THE FLYER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fact 3: This email was not sent by the secretary(who was responsible for the emails), it was done without their permission, BEHIND their BACK!!!!!!!!!!!

Fact 4: One of the main people who were against this event taking place and influenced this email, namely KULTAR SINGH(UCL) was not even on the commitee!

Question 1: Kultar Singh, if you are so against these talks taking place at your university, then why did you turn up to the talk at ULU? (photographic evidence is available of this)

Question 2: The truth is eternal, as you have said in your email, then why the hell do you lie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This does not suprise me at all. Boss have recently allied themselves to Sher e Panjab (SP), a criminal organisation in order to force the Sikh societies to comply with their fascist views. As a Sikh and as a part of British society I ask myself if this ok to:

1. Spread lies about our Gurus and Sikh history such as that:

a. Guru Gobind SIngh only had one wife thus insulting Mata Sundari and Mata Sahib Devi

b. our Gurus are just mortal beings

c. the bani of Guru Gobind SIngh are not gurbani

d. the chali mukte were not mukte (statement shamelessly made on Panjab Radio)

2. Threaten women (how low can you get)

3. Make alliances with renowned rapists, pimps, drug dealers and criminals

I urge all SIkh societies to have the courage to say NO to these people. One of the BOSS sevadars has tried to prevent fliers for the event to be distributed and threw them in a bin. These fliers contain representations of our beloved Ten Gurus. It seems that same sevadar has more respect for porn magazines than for the representations of Maharaj!!!!

I think all sides are telling lies in this scenario. While i have no problem with sanatan sikhi being promoted i do not think it should be done so when the host organisations do not support it.

Which committee member said this exactly? Does one members approval mean the whole sikh soc rubber stamped the event? did UCLU sikh soc book the lecture theatre for this event?

If you were at the election you would have observed that Dilpreet actually lost the election and Sarb was elected president. She was nominated co-president WITHOUT being elected.

who was informed? also after having looked at the flyer i notice the author has lied. For example they say SOAS sikh soc supports the event. SOAS does NOT even have a sikh society. Check: www.soasunion.org/main/sportssocs/societies. I could be mistaken but I think whoever is advising Nidar Singh is deceiving him as well as others.

Who sent the email then? as far as i know only committee members have access. was the secretary not aware? did he object? ultimately it is the presidents decision.

So. he is at UCL and a member of the sikh soc which is more than can be said for most of the haters on this forum. And what happened to not mentioning names as you said at the start your post.

to be honest i have never felt intimidated by BOSS. however I am worried that by expressing my views I will become a vicitm of the hatred being displayed on this thread. Even when i went to Nidar Singhs classes i felt comfortable but the hatred that some of you express towards people who don't comply with your views is astounding. After having spoken to Niddar Singh I think he is quite a decent person and would be surprised if he agreed with your intimidation tactics.

To Palm, if you read the email carefully you will notice that the email has been forwarded. The facts stated are that by the UCL Student not me! So please get your facts straight before having a go at me !

If you have problems with the facts write out a proper complaint, then ill forward it to the student.

I have been in contact with the student regarding this matter and these are the points they have mentioned;

1. Sarb was the president but he messed up the sikhi week event, and dilpreet ended up booking the room, infact he forgot to book room for the sikhi week event. Dilpreet had to effectively to fufil the presidential role-,she also made the active presidential decision to cancel the SS event. So to be honest Mr Palm whether she her title is president or not. She still excercised presidential powers!

They were both aware of the Sanatan Sikhi event at the time.

2. you say the author has lied. Mr PAlm as far as im aware theres a difference between a typing mistake and a lie! A Soas Lecturer who specialises in indian religions supported the event. You should contact the name and number on that flyer for confirmation. Again please refrain from baseless accussations they make you a target for critcism.

Fact 3. Im not allow to mention names here due to security reasons.

Fact 4. Again, you need to read it carefully, the person who forwarded the email, their identity cannot be mentioned. Thats what i stated, not im not going to mention any names at all!

Palm, can you please read posts carefully before trying to argue your points.

In relation to Shakas point you have stated that you have never felt intimidated by boss, oh well, that your opinion and your entitld to it. The truth is a number of people have(if you want details please PM me).
