paapiman got a reaction from Sikhilove in Viewing Husband as God (with evidence)
Some people might have the notion that viewing husband as God is only a Hindu belief, but they are wrong. This belief is also part of Sikh ethics and values. Gurbani clearly instructs a woman to look upon her husband, as God. There might be many more arths of the Shabad below, but in this topic, the one based on sociological perspective will be discussed.

    Here is the shabad:
    ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਏ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥
In the Dark Age of Kali Yuga, they come together through destiny.
As long as the Lord commands, they enjoy their pleasures. ||1||
By burning oneself, the Beloved Lord is not obtained.
Only by the actions of destiny does she rise up and burn herself, as a 'satee'. ||1||Pause||
Imitating what she sees, with her stubborn mind-set, she goes into the fire.
She does not obtain the Company of her Beloved Lord, and she wanders through countless incarnations. ||2||
    ਸੀਲ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਾਨੈ ॥
    With pure conduct and self-restraint, she surrenders to her Husband Lord's Will;
    ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਜਮਾਨੈ ॥੩॥
that woman shall not suffer pain at the hands of the Messenger of Death. ||3||
Says Nanak, she who looks upon her Husband as God,
is the blessed 'satee'; she is received with honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||30||99||

Uthanka: A Sikh informs Satguru jee (fifth master) that a lady has become a Sati (burnt herself on pyre) with her husband today.
Context: The first tuk is talking about "sanjog", which means relation.
Therefore, it is very clear from the uthanka and the context that this shabad is talking about a spousal relationship. Four translations (including non-DDT ones) will be provided below. All of them agree that this Shabad is instructing a wife to view her husband, as God.

    1. Prof.Sahib Singh (regarded highly by Missionaries): - Please notice that Professor Sahib has used the word "Khasam", which can refers to God too.

    2. Gyani Harbans Singh jee (non-DDT):

    3. Fareedkot wala Teeka (Nirmalay scholars):

    4. Amir Bhandar (DDT):

    4. Historical Perspective - 1: - Mata Sewan jee* (a female Brahamgyani) used to consider her husband as God.

    5. Historical Perspective - 2: - Tenth master praises a woman who has never abused/cursed a man in her life.

    * - for more details on the life of Mata jee, please check the link below:

    In conclusion:
A Sikh woman is instructed to view her husband, as God. A Sikh woman does not need to burn on the pyre of her husband, to prove that she is a Sati. A Sikh widow must look upon the Almighty God, as her husband. Women should not be forced to burn on husband's pyre. Coercion is not permitted in this case. Women, who are forced to burn on their husband's pyre, may or may not be Satis. Both males and females should look upon the Almighty God, as their husband.

Brother, I think we should just focus on the essence of the video, which is the power of Mool Mantar. I do understand your point. Bhai Saab jee could have narrated the incident in a better way, but I don't believe he was being racist in anyway as he is a Gursikh of very high caliber. Also, as humans most of us are prone to error, therefore let's just focus on the positive side.

Bro, there is plenty of reference to Saints in Gurbani. You cannot run away from the facts.
One can connect with the Almighty Waheguru directly too through Gurbani, but it is very very very tough to do so.
Easy method - Saadh Sangat - Sangat of Saints/Gurmukhs/Sadhus.

Excellent stuff. As long as one stays within the realm of ਬੁਧੀ (thinking/judging), he will never attain bliss. Bliss only comes at the level of ਸੁਰਤਿ (spiritual awareness).

In the katha below, Gyani Harbhajan Singh jee Dhudikey narrates exegesis of a passage from Sri Dasam Granth Sahib jee, with regards to Chandar devta (demi-God). This demi-God was the 19th incarnation of Vishnu jee. Chandar devta was send to earth for a specific purpose by Sri Waheguru jee, but after the completion of his assigned tasks, he became infected with pride. Please listen to this Parsang to understand how this dangerous vice of ego can lead to disasters.

In the katha below, Gyani jee gives a suggestion which can help us to fight lust. Lord Indar (king of heavens), who enjoys the company of many heavenly beauties (who are btw way more beautiful/hygienic/clean that worldly women), is compared with a pig. Some fodder to convert our Vikari Budhi to Bibek Budhi.

    The below might help too.
Avoid caffeinated drinks as much as possible. Caffeine affects sleeping patterns, which gives Lust an opportunity to attack. When a person is fully awake, then it is much easier to fight with Lust (and other vikars), as compared to when he is in a semi-awake condition (NREM sleeping stage). Maintain healthy eating habits, so that you avoid having any episodes of diarrhea or constipation. Lust can possibly attack the mind in these conditions too.

Or maybe it was a desperate attempt to revive the tradition by the Minas. The Pothi does refer to Prithi Chand as "Guru Sahib" and states that Minas possessed the word (Gurbani), while Sikhs were worldly.

paapiman got a reaction from Soulfinder in What happens if a Amritdhari lied does he has be pesh in front of the Panj Pyaare?
    @samurai
There are two sakhis in this context.
One is when Dharamraj jee tests Yudhister jee. He takes the form of a butcher and runs after a cow (which has earlier been seen by Yudhister jee). He then asks him if he has seen the cow. Yudhister jee is caught in a dilemma. If he says the truth, the innocent cow (who is like a mother) is killed, but he cannot lie too, as he is a Satvadi Purash. So he replies by saying that Eyes can see, but cannot speak. The tongue can speak, but cannot see.
Another sakhi is when a Sadhu is asked by a real butcher about a cow (which was earlier seen by the Sadhu). The Sadhu does not say anything, but points in the direction, where the cow went. The butcher is able to catch the cow and kill it. In his next life, the Sadhu receives the punishment of an amputation (of hand), as his information was responsible for the death of the cow. (This sakhi shows that even stating the Truth can cause Lekha)
Which sakhi are you guys referring to? Can you please share it?
    Thanks
