Hanuman Ji was one Ram Bhagat, whoRam Chander never took with him when he left. Don't know why as Shri Ram took the whole city with him as per Dasam Granth. My vidya Guru told me that Hanuman was give the task or remaining in Sri Lanka to keep some deeva burning. He had been there for yugs until Guru Nanak Sahib went to Sri Lanka, and there Guru Sahib fulfilled Hanuman's wish that he be allowed to go to Sachkhand. There Guru Sahib also gave Hanuman darshan in the roop of Shri Ram Chander.

They only show themselves to their devotees, there is a mantr that is read to receive his darshan. It's not as easy as it sounds,, the following conditions have to b met:
    1. U shud know the relation between hanuman g's soul and ur soul.
    2. There shud b no person within a 980m range that does not meet the first condition.

Bro, some Sikh kings did side with British, but many Sikhs fought against British too. Sikhs gave plenty of sacrifices to free India from the British rule, even though they were less than 2% of India's population.

btw, don't know about ddt gurdwaras outside of BC, but there are at least two in BC that have nothing to do with Federation. I think the lack of prakash of Dasam Bani is simply a manpower thing.

Having asked Baba Thakur Singh ji Bhindren about Dasam Bani, he has told me that Dasam Bani is supposed to be prakash at Amrit Sanchaars.

Most of the stuff you seem worried about isn’t going to affect your day to day life as Gursikh. And yes, you get tested.Everyone does. But I feel you are in the same mindset that a lot of people are in when they enter the dharm, focusing more on the outer stuff. All fired up about the political and social revolutionary aspects. Nothing wrong with that. But, the relative importance of the outer things to the inner spiritual life is akin to the skin of the almond to the almond itself.
There are variations between Gurdwaras as well. Some places are more restrictive while others are not. Some places the sangat is very spiritual minded while other places they are not so far along in the path.
You seem to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater over a few things that, for the most part, are unlikely to majorly affect your life much unless you let them. They usually do not directly affect you.
Going to sangat everyday is  hugely important for one’s jeevan. But the difference is I go there for my jeevan, not to critique things or look for faults. The ones who go to fight fights usually lose out, while the ones who focus on Naam gain. I’m not saying there aren’t fights worth fighting. But how will you accomplish anything if you fight every fight?

btw, when I called those things bunk I meant that most of them are not legitimate Sikhi. The majority also happen to not believe in them.

A lot of that stuff is bunk. Some of it isn't. So what? It's about you and the Guru. Same thing I tell people who get upset at Gurdwara politics. You will be tested. They learn to ignore it and focus on their own spirituality. There are people at all spiritual levels walking this path, some are naturally more ignorant than others, some feel a need to lord it over others. The gandh in the world might get you down. But these people are dealing with their own issues and karmas. Our job is to develop our relationship with Guru ji. partly, it's a matter of picking and choosing our battles.

Excellent point brother. This means that the Amrit ceremony cannot be completed without feminine (devi) influence. In addition, women can also help out with the Amrit ceremony. There are other people needed for assistance, such as door keepers, sewadaar for Karah Parshad, etc.

I have heard in katha, that one abhiyasi (highly spiritual stage) was sitting during the amrit sanchaar ceremony solely for this purpose alone that whether women who partake in panj pyaare were actually able to initiate the askers. He told that NO panj pyaare whether "men or women" can initiate the new ones, because only Guru has the right to initiate the new comers. So what actually happens in the ceremony is, after panj pyaare do ardas to start the sanchaar process by first reading five bani's. Then they collectively do ardas along with sangat to Guru Granth Sahib Jee maharaj to allow them to distribute the amrit to the seekers. Now, here is what happens as this highly spiritual told us, light(jot) from Guru Granth Sahib enters the body of the panj pyaare's and Guru himself initiate the new ones. He says that women who were in panj pyaare service, light did not enter their body, so real amrit process is interrupted; though outwardly we can say we got amrit. Also light did not enter disabled ones too.
Why light(jot) did enter men and not women/diabled ones, who knows, why? except guru himself, and we can ask this question to Guru himself only when we meet him (means we need high spiritual stage) and we need to be amritdhari for that.
My point is even if we want to be critical of this account as told by this person, why would we take risk of taking amrit from women/disable ones. It is already established that sikhs who take amrit from five men, reached to the god, brahamgyaan, history told us. Does we have account of single brahamgyani initiated by women.
All the effort we put in, nitnem, waking early/doing simran, and what if nothing happens after we are initiated by women. If after our demise we ask god; I did everything you told, but no spritual stage for me, why? God could say who told you to do man-mat and take amrit which you think is suitable. We wont be able to answer it.
So, my point is why take risk just to prove your thinking right, when Guru says leave your thinking at the door.
Dont ask why this, why that, Just use your mind to accomplish what Guru told you to do, Simran, Rehat and Gurbani. Don't be a wise-ass.
This comment for satkiran never say that any person here on this forum or any where else can speak for Guru, If Guru want to talk to you, he will do himself, he did not need us to speak for him. If you want to know what Guru thinks ask Guru Granth Sahib jee maharaj, take hukamnama.

Yes, both genders; in-fact every cell has both the principles. But it's the ratio. Also, a sword is NOT a sword; it DOES have consciousness. How could you claim "it does possess the divine light, it does not possess human consciousness......." . Please be informed that everything in this universe does have consciousness; even Stones does have consciousness. That's why I say, please first get all the information (what is what).
Also, Guru is MUST if one wants to break the Ajna/3rd eye. If anyone has true love, then he/she would sacrifice the whole life for it. e.g Patanga (an insect) gets burned in the fire for its love towards it. So, it sounds like your intention to take Amrit was not too strong, not based upon true love, otherwise how could one drop the idea (which is only between One's Soul's and Guru). Amrit is a deal between One's Soul and the guide (Guru), how could someone's argument win over it.
Kindly, do NOT convert this thread to Man -vs-Women; that's NOT the intention. Other members please share your thoughts.

Recently on this forum and in general view: there is always tension between the groups in regards to "If women can be part of Panj Payaras or not". Every group has its own rigid explanations for their views.
Group-1 says that yes, women can be part of Panj payaras. Their core reason is the bani as explained in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Group-2 says that no, women cannot be part of Panj payars. Their core reason is because women didn't  offer their head that day or say Guru Ji didn't ask. Some also say that women is not capable of preparing Amrit. Group-3 says that we've to follow the establised tradition and should not allow women to be part of Panj-payars but if any women is Brahmgyani, then its okay. Their core reason is that since the creation of Khalsa and all along during the times of great Saints, everyone suggested that women cannot be Panj Payaras. Now, I do NOT want to stretch this boring conversation to further but I DO want to present my personal views which seems to be opposite to the above mentioned groups at-the face value but in deeper sense it does resonate with them. So, please do NOT post same old reasons/explanations to prove your point. But I invite all memebers to please share your thoughts on this topic without indulging in baseless claims and let's have a Open Mind discussion.
I also request everyone to carefully read the whole topic first and then send your response. Please do NOT read causally or just scan and then post the same thing which was in your head (pre-programmed).
My personal view is: No, women cannot be part of Panj Payaras because the Amrit prepared during Sanskar Amrit is still within the sphere of "Laws of Universe" unless a Brahmgyani (any gender) is involved.
In other words, Amrit is prepared with its roots in Duality (opposites coming together). And anything in duality needs to have opposite forces coming together: Shiva and Shakti. Shakti is represented by the Khanda/Sword/Bagauti and Shiva power needs to be in the form of 5 males (Five are required to move Seven to Twelve in Space). As this physical Amrit is NOT the real Amrit (real Amrit being Naam Amrit), therefore in order to prepare it one needs to have correct ingredients: Positive and Negative forces. One cannot prepare the strongest Amrit (which acts as initiation for Guru and will further lead to Raas) with the use of un-balanced ingredients.
Now, why I think that Sanskar Amrit is within the Sphere of Laws: It is because:
The 5K's (Kara, Kangha, Kachera, Kirpan, Kesh/Kesge) symbols are the physical symbols; they DO represent Spiritual purposes but still they are just physical symbols. How could we ridicule Janeu (Hindu thread) as manmat; janeu could also represent some Spiritual principle. So, how could we mock janeu but for 100% in for 5Ks as physical symbols? Guru Gobind Singh Ji choosing only men or say God only pushing man to stand for the cause DOES hold some purpose. As Guru Ji was 100% sure regarding what was written in Guru Granth Sahib Ji and as per Guru Granth Sahib Ji, man and woman does have equal opportunity and rights. So, he would not go against Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In Bachittar Natak, Guru has mentioned that in His previous life (not physical though) how he once fight with the demons and won the war. This is the time when Bhagauti told Guru Ji that when He will go to Earth for the establishment of new dharma, then She would offer her services and this is the reason Khanda is used while preparing Amrit. And Panj-Payas does represent Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Guru Gobind Singh Ji has told several times in history that He should NOT be considered God. Here I'm NOT trying to say that He was not God; I'm just trying to bring up the point that no Guru before Guru Gobind Singh Ji has said that in the same tone. He is not trying to be humble, may be He is trying to tell us something (that he indicated in His writings) Guru Gobind Singh Ji's birth and the creation of Khalsa was the requirement of those times but Guru Ji did NOT abolish the place of Saint/Sant (some call it physical Guru). e.g If you see all the yesteryear Sants after the creation of Khalsa, even though they did come under the umbrella of Khalsa but they are also the student under their respective Senior Teachers/Gurus/Sants. If the intention of any Guru (any 10 Gurus) was of to abolish the trend of physical Sant, then surely They must have provided in written format the Arths/Meanings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. But They did not do that because the key to the hidden treasures of Guru Granth Sahib Ji is still with the Sants. So, wraping up I could say that: Guru Gobind Singh Ji did come for different purpose (as per the requirement of time and order of Waheguru) and fullfilled His purpose; and his purpose was not the same as that of first 5 Gurus and 9th Guru. Even 6, 7, 8th Guru Ji have not recorded Their Bani in Guru Granth Sahib Ji as They were preparing the ground for the coming of 10th Guru. Read the story of Bib Bhani. Guru Gobind Singh Ji explicitly stated many times this fact in His writings: Bachittar Natak and His other writings. It is just us (the normal people) who didn't look deep enough.
At last, I'm NOT saying that Khalsa was that time's need and we need not take Amrit. I'm just saying that people start debating this vs that without understanding the purpose of creation of Khalsa. Sometimes in different ingredients (having different powers) are necessary to bring up the Neutral/Precious stuff. e.g It is believed that lead could be transformed into gold in alchemy.

tva prasad reacted to Matheen in Missing Nitnem?
I was listening to a tape of Sant Isher Singh Ji just today and they spoke of this. 'Nit-nem' by definition, is that which is done everyday without fail. It's food for the soul, just as the body gets weak without nourishment, our spirit suffers without Gurbani.

(This is my own opinion now)- Being late isn't really an excuse, but I know it happens, lol. The hukam I was given is that I can't eat anything until I've at least done 5 Banis. This is very effective in making sure I get Nitnem done, even if it's at 6pm whem I get back home. Also, it's ok to listen to Nitnem while on the move, if you have to.

Regarding Ishnan - if you can stand up or get out of bed, you can have ishnan. Besides, Guru Sahib tells us that having Ishnan and doing Nitnem gets rid of physical as well as mental diseases. There are times when it is impossible to have a full ishnan e.g. on a long flight etc. In that case, you wash your hands, face, feet and brush your teeth then do your Nitnem.

When you first start keeping a Nitnem, you will face many obstacles but need to keep fighting to the end - "Khalsa Karey Nit Jung..." Remembering Guru Gobind Singh Ji's bachan: "Rehat Pyaari Mujh Ko, Sikh Pyara Nahi.." also helps.

tva prasad reacted to chatanga1 in Anyone else into organic gardening around here?
I have been organic gardening for about 4 years now. Have 2 compost bins which i use bi-annuallly. Today I have sealed one of them off and the waste should compost nicely for April next year. I use grass (weedless), leaves (when I can get hold of them) fruit skins (non-citrus only), any old paper from the house, I shred and put that it (usually old letters I don't need anymore and the unsolicited mail you get from companies), teabags, etc.
They break down very nicely and the soil texture and productivity has been brilliant this year. This is after applying compost for about 4 years now. Plus it helps the environment and all that to do your own composting.
This year we have some very good pears of good quality and quantity. Palak is very easy to grow as it grows anywhere. Had excellent dhannia, methe, methi, and onions. We had some good Kadus as well this year and last.
Only have a small garden space but get a lot from it. I usually stick to tried and tested product as I hate to waste the space there but always give something new a chance every year. Today I have cleared up the summer produce from the garden and will turn the soil over once more before planting some lassan.
Maybe we could share some photos of our progress next year?

Make sure that your stance is correct and balanced when lifting and also a good idea to tense navel area by tucking it inward every time you have to bend down or bend forward.
Actually, a good idea to keep energy concentrated there by keeping it slightly tucked when doing anything physical, walking, standing, stairs...
Try doing the planks as exercises if the asanas are too awkward or you feel mid-section is chubby.
