Please anybody here can describe satsangat in sikhi terms. Do watching live telecast on T.v counts? Or just me and my Guru Granth Sahib ji ( prakash in my house ) be termed as sangat

I think it's mostly a waste of time to read tons of websites. The best is to learn directly from the immensely spiritually elevated people of our own dharm b/c sometimes those of other dharms will do things differently. This can cause dubida (doubts) and confusion.
Ojas rises when we do sangat bhagti sangat seva and sangat. Avoid vikaars nindya backbiting etc. As we tyag (internally let go of ) kaamic thoughts only then will it rise. Otherwise that sexual energy stays as kaam. In a nutshell, it's a simple matter of doing the right thing long enough and avoiding the wrong thing long enough and lots of satsangat.
I emphasize satsangat so much b/c their energy helps an incredible amount, speaking from my experience. In comparing my rate of advancement before I started doing regular satsangat vs. back when I did more bhagti at home it is a truly immense eye-opening difference. And it's owed all to satsangat.

I found this open sangat q&a session with Bhai Sewa Singh ji very useful in answering some of the questions I also had.

Taken from the video broadcast on wahegurulive.com of the simran camp from the morning of 31-12-2009.

That first video was absolutely amazing. I realized the importance of saas saas and rom rom simran and why we are told to do it.

Key points I have taken away.

When doing saas saas simran one should be totally absorbed in the breathing and mantra and pay no attention to the body.
They key to rom rom simran was to do simran with the surti only which is faster than doing saas saas simran. One is to fill the belly with air and hold it. Then as long as you can hold it to do simran synchronising with the pulse. One is to place their dhyan either on the trikurti or at the nabi at that time.

End goal is to detach and pop out of this body by latching onto the naad. Once you hear the naad you can use it to go wherever you wish since naam is everywhere.

    Waheguru

Some great videos from Bhai Dharamjit Singh on their YouTube channel. Although the recent ones have been heavily edited so they are not too revealing. Would be great to have regular sangat with Gurmukhs like these. Damn shame he is in India as he comes across as someone who really wants to share and help others on their journey. He doesn't hold back in the gyan he reveals which is very rare to find. When you do sangat these days you will find that most reveal snippits of information and never the whole thing. You have to put the pieces together yourself after listening to various sources all from the same group.

Being new to this forum and meditation, I am amazed at the knowledge and experience some of the forum members have.  I could hardly sit for 10-15 minutes with lots of distractions in mind, bringing my attention back to meditation/breathing/Simran and then again wandering off in my thoughts.
I know we have different experiences based on family backgrounds, past karamas, hard work we put on in meditation in this life but may I ask saadh sangat, for how long (months, years ) they have been practicing meditation/Waheguru Simran for?

Thank you Bhenji. I am always late night owl instead of waking in the morning and doing my studies.  Now, I find it easier to do simran in night after finishing everything.
I would like to do as much as possible simran now , without wasting my life further and looking for gursikh people company too.  My mind is going off other things like facebook, moovies etc and am enjoying spiritual side of life.

Aurengzeb's wife was in a lot of pain, when she was pregnant. Baba Ram Rai jee (while his stay at Delhi) was requested to relieve her pain. Baba jee brought a container of water and read Sri Japjee Sahib jee over it. Then, that water was given to Aurangzeb's wife and she felt better after that.

I found this article on a web, which I am reproducing it as it is, though it appears to be the words of a highly evolved soul, we can learn a lot from it, by getting inspired and understanding the importance of Rom Rom Simran, which is the base line of this article.

    Hope you enjoy it......

    Namaste dear friends...

I am sharing this gentle and humble practice, yet the most powerful for those who want the love of God and his remembrance all the time.

Also I am sharing it because to my surprise I've found it also to be very self pacing energetically and relieves the person from energetic problems in the head...

It's the zikr of the divine name or constant mantra repetition of a certain deity...

By the constant repetition of the divine name we are always in the presence of our beloved and reminded of him... I can't think of anything else to bring us nearer to our angelic nature...

For angels, as Rumi says... Their oxygen is to repeat the divine name...

Love for God becomes so great when we undertake this practice... We fly on the wings of bhakti... We burn in Ishq... We burn in love for our beloved...

It is rumi who said I burnt and I burnt and I burnt... Well there is nothing sweeter than burning for the sake of our beloved

Now I consider the Indian legacy as my mother and suffism (christian, muslim and jewish) my father... Arab christians, jews and muslims... All use the name of Allah as a translation from english to the word God. And the great name of Allah the beloved is what I use for this practice myself... People may also use the name of Jesus or Yahwa or any form of christian prayer... As per my indian friends.. They may use any mantras they like and which relates to their deity... Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Mother Kali, Krishna ect... The divine name we choose is the one which we really consider as our beloved... It's our highest ideal. Our chosen Ishta.

Concerning the technique, it's very easy and simple and it is the following:

We repeat the divine name inside ourselves at the area from the right side of the physical heart extending to the middle of the chest. We repeat it in the space from within and "not on the surface".

We do so while being involved in whatever activity we're doing. Eating, walking, working ect... But we do so with respect and humbleness... And we do our worship as if we see our beloved and in case we can't we should know that He/She sees us.

As every practice... This one might have it's clunky stage but if we push ourselves into it for the first two days it will become an automatic process and the repetition of the divine name then will happen by itself in our heart... Even when we are talking to others... If we find it hard to repeat the divine name from within... We can repeat it with our tongues at first and gently go down to the heart area afterwards...

If one would like to push this practice even farther and be with the divine name of his beloved... He can do this practice while negating every other thought but the divine name inside his heart and turning away from all thought and just being with the divine name. But we do so gently without fighting.. We just favor the divine name above everything else.

To whomever feels attracted to undertaking this practice I strongly suggest you do so... It's very beautiful and I can't think of anything better than being with our beloved all the times...

Much love to All, may divine grace blesses those who undertake this practice and guides their step.

    Peace,
    Ananda

I KNOW HOW IT FEELS I MYSELF WAS BULIED AT SCHOOL I TOOK IT FOR A LONG TIME BUT THEN ONE DAY I FLIPPED AND SHERE CAME OUT DONT KNOW WHAT HAPENED BUT KNOCKED HIM OUT IN ONE LITTLE PUNCH ALL HIS MATES WERE THERE I OFFERED THEM OUT ONE BY ONE BUT NO ONE WANTED TO FIGHT.

I ALSO HAD A FREIND QUITE A BIT YOUNGER HE HAD KESH AND WENT TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL FOR DAYS ON END HE WAS BULIED UNTIL HIS MUM AND DAD FOUND OUT THEY CUT IS KESH BUT HE DIDNT WANT IT TO HAPPEN HE STILL WANTS TO GROW HIS KESH BACK BUT AS HE ALWAYS SAYS "ONCE YOU BEEN DOWN THE WRONG PATH ITS HARD TO TO TURN AROUND AND COME BACK"

SORRY DID YOU ALL HEAR ABOUT THE SINGH IN 1997 I THINK WHO HANGED HIMSELF BECAUSE HE GOT BULLIED HE WROTE A POEM IT WENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS

    The Bully

    By Harjit Singh Lakhan

    Racist ruffian, low-down scum
Foul mouthed thug do you think its fun
To beet up a kid who's half your size?
Knock his turban and punch his eyes
He gets good grades and it makes you sick
Turban-head's clever and you're so thick.

You push and punch and steal his lunch
You swing your fist his nose goes crunch
    Bleeding Paki! Bloody Paki!
Swear a lot then steal his money
Grab his arms - push him to the wall
Punch! Crunch! He takes the fall
    Kick! Spit! Watch him crawl
Walk away from his crying call.

Lessons start at the school from hell
Classroom's more like a prison cell
Sitting in his blood stained clothes
Tears in his eyes and a busted nose
Bully boys don't stop their taunting
No teacher saw his daily haunting
No teacher said you're a lion Singh
Be BRAVE, be STRONG but never give in
School bell rings:"Bye-Bye friends I ain't coming to hell again!"

Running home as fast as he can
No one knows his secret plan
Up the stairs for freedom calls
He escapes from his body walls
Free at last from the violence
    Hangs himself in deathly silence.

    Where he ends we begin
    Bullies won't kill another Singh
Unite as CHILDREN make the change
Don't let things stay the same
We want freedom - no more crime
We want freedom all the time
No more Singhs will die this way
Unite as CHILDREN - fight them today!

    CHILDREN unite
    It's time to fight
    The Bully boys
    The racist noise
    Don't live in dread
    Tell the teacher instead
    You're not alone
    Let your trouble be known

(dedicated to Vijay Singh, aged 13 who hanged himself at home after being bullied at school)

Nanak naam chardi kalaa, tere bhane sarbat ka bhala

All I'm saying is tinnitus is not Anhad Shabad. Only Radhasoamnis call the tinnitus as Anhad Shabad. Anhad Shabad sound is something that is directly from Sachkhand and can only be heard by those who have a lot of Naam Kamaee. In the starting stages it is best to focus on the Naam Dhuni. Train the mind at Amritvela hours to focus on the Dhuni of Naam Simran. The more Balvaan the mind becomes in focusing one will experience a number of extra ordinary signs. Bandgi Nama by Raghbir Singh Bir is a must read for ones who want to walk on the path of Gurmat Naam Simran.

You start with simran of Gurmantar with your dhyan on the sound of the jaap. When your mind sits and listens and quietens in its flights of thought then with gurus grace you will slowly begin to hear the internal sounds.

Then you stop your jaap and concentrate on the sound coming from within.

So how does one know which one they are hearing?
Do you see much difference with what was said above to this:
Discourse given by Sant Baba Isher Singh (Rare Wale) where his instructions were as follows with regards to the Anhad Shabad:
Sit in a secluded place and for 2.5 hours, closing eyes and keeping back straight at 90 degrees.
Keep on listening to the sound ringing in both ears and be intoxicated with it. One should hear this sound for 8-10 days.
After that one should direct one's consciousness to on the right ear. An extremely fine and sweet sound sound will begin to be heard from the right ear.
After about 10 days one should withdraw one's consciousness and cease to hear the sounds, ringing in the two ears.
After some effort one would be able to hear a sound from the Agya-chakkar (at the root of the two eyes and the nose). It is the same sound that one used to hear from the right ear.
After concentrating on the Agya chakkar, one should keep on hearing this music for 1 month or 2 and recognize it as the symbol of the Formless God.
Then one should uplift ones consciousness and listen to the music from the point where the eye-brows begin. After practicing for 2-3
months with full concentration one should raise the consciousness to up to the head, to the point where 4 parts of the oranium join which is called the palate. This point is also called the tenth gate.
After practicing this for 3 months one should hear the music from the back of the head, at the point where the backbone (spine) touches the Sukhmana Nadi. One should practice here for 5-6 months.
After this when the seeker becomes full adept, he should concentrate his consciousness on the tip of the nose. At his point he would see strange supra-worldy sights and one acquires carious kinds of power. This practice will take some two years. But there is a supreme need to keep watch on the instructions ordained here. Eager enthusiasm is required beyond limit. Under these activities, one would see different kinds of lights, strange sights of secret worlds and hear strange musical strains.
