So when you go to an MNC office do you wear your sleepwear ? or are you formally dressed? Is showering, dressing formally a ritual or a requirement? The statement that "why you need rules and regulations for remembering God and Guru"? is simplistic and inconsistent with Guru Sahibs hukams. Guru Ram Dass has specified in his hukam in Guru Granth Sahib....Gur Satgur Kaa Jo Sikh Akhaey...So Bhaal keeah Utth Haaar Naam Dhiavery...(ank 306) .Guru Sahibs hukams are get up early (is that a ritual? or a requirement?) Udham Kareah Bhalkeah Parbhati Ishnaam Kareah...(So having an early morning bath is a ritual or a requirement?)....this same hukam is in all rehatnamas, and in Guru Gobind Singhs 52 Hukams for the Sikhs before he became Aloop...Water  is known to absorb whatever is in the environment ..hence the water in the sarovar of Darabar Sahib on which Gurbani is sung virtually round the clock has curative powers. Hence the recommendation for having water when we do paath...I have personally followed all these requirements and benefitted from them...so would suggest that we do not spread our own understanding (manmaat) and instead refer to Guru Sahibs hukams (gurmat) for guidance and implementation.

Welcome back, and you got it!   I have a huge problem trying to explain this to people because they can't seem to grasp it. You have to "surrender" and leave ego behind. No questions, no what if's, no what is this or what was that? ... Just devote and give in to the jaap with NO INTENTIONS or CONDITIONS.  The only pre-condition must be that I wanna see and be with my maker.. Just like bhagat dhanna. He could have sat in front of anything you gave him and would have still seen his malik because his intention was completely pure and there wasn't  an ounce of mayavee condition.      I have had countless gursikhs saying I can't progress, I've taken amrit, do nitnem, do sukhmani, do hour of simran...but still feel stuck.  When I ask them what their real intentions are  ie. what is the ardas? do they do it just for sukh shanti and peaceful bliss? ...is it for success? ,  riches, happy relationships,  happy marriages??   The answer is always yes.  Then I tell them that they are doing a sodhha based on conditions and they need to look within.   You can't get enlightened with pre-conditions of maya.  Our ardas is not an introductory prelude for a list of wants and wishes to add on at the end; sadly this is what we make it.
I know of one guy who started seeing the brahm jyot and reaching heights of advanced experiences; simply by sitting down with complete surrender and love in the heart. He used a part visualisation that I mentioned a long time ago to imagine his consciousness shrinking into a small dot and completely letting go of his body. He amended it slightly to putting this dot of awareness directly into the heart chakra area in centre of chest and doing jap with heart beat.  No conditions, no wants, no ardas list, except asking forgiveness for wrongs and surrendering of mann into-> the heart/Atma.

I wanted to know if you understood my earlier post?  I don't mind trying to delve into further depths of gurbani so that we can discuss and show why I agreed with @harsharan000  ji's earlier posts explaining why doing good deeds alone contributes to fulfilling karams and not naam kamaye of sacha jeevan -truthful living. I believe it's imperative to understand and differentiate between what karams and naam kamayee are.so that one can start climbing the pauris as per gurbani.

This thread is more than just experiences. It is a more like a dairy that documents our journey to understand simran, the inner journey and what we are learning and experiencing along they way by a number of individuals. The posts contain subtle hints that may help someone in the future.
We might not have all the answers today but as I see in my own journey things I read 10+ years ago are presenting themselves again via different channels. There is some hidden truth out there which I don’t fully understand yet but I hope I am making slow progress in the right direction.

The only advice I'm going to give is be very careful about listening to too many different people on how to do bhagti.  I know we all look for shortcuts to move forward quickly. Your going to become so confused about which technique to follow and use and not going to get anywhere. Trust me on this one because it happens to me all the time. All that happens is we are collecting gyan from everyone like taking a karchi from every pateela. We are just sinking in the gyan and that is becoming a hindrance for us to progress and we don't have enough practical to match on each path. Pick one teacher and then follow their teachings. There is no point sharing what one teacher says with another asking for confirmation. It really pisses them off. Either you have faith in your current teacher or you do not.Don't mix and match. Because if something goes wrong who will you turn to? Pick one and then stay on that path and follow only their instructions. That way they know what instructions you have been given.
You got so many different sources on this forum now. Please all pick one and then do the simran.
    Already we got :
    Bhai Simranjeet Singh Tohana
    Bhai Dharamjit Singh (Gurmat Meditation)
Prabh Milne Ka Chao (Moga) and all their students all over the world.
Bhai Ajit Singh (Guru Maneyo Granth Gurdwara, Slough)
Bhai Nirvair Singh (Akal Sahai Waheguru Naam Leva)
Bhai Charanjit Singh Khalsa (Shabad Guru Parchar Mission)
Bhai Gurmail Singh Ji Mand ( Prabh Ka Simran Kendar Mand)
Just listening to the above they all teach differently, even though they all learnt from Bhai Sewa Singh Tharmala. High level they all teach the same, but when it comes to jugti's they are all slightly different and teach at different paces and sequences beyond saas-giras simran. Hell even the saas-giras is slightly different.
Now we have included Bhai Charanjit Singh Gorkhi into the mix.
All that happens is you spend hours listening to the gyan and jugtis but not enough time doing abhiyaas. So what you have done is dirty your mind even more. When you now sit for simran, you will be wondering which technique should I use because nothing is happening with the one I'm doing. The gyan becomes the maya for us. If I look back at how much time I spent listening to all these guys. Imagine how much simran I would have done in that time instead. My mind would have been very much more still. Instead It now wonders in 10 different teachers directions. This teacher said this, this person said that. Why is nothing happening. It is seeking that next experience to progress. It is not still at all
I'm the worst. I have been doing this for years now. Please don't make the same mistakes I did.
My fastest progress came when I knew nothing and was just listening to one of them and did what I was told. Then I became too eager and wanted to accelerate my progress. I started listening to all of them on the list because I felt one was always holding something back and not telling me the complete picture. They all speak of higher avastas which any seeker would want to experience. They always dropped hints but never told you precisely what you needed to do. I wanted the next jugti, found it out, but it never worked for me. One becomes a jugti collecting addict, but mind is not of that avasta so they never work. Now I got so many techniques in my head that I don't know which one I should use or do next. When the student is ready your told the next stage 1-to-1. Listening to all of these people just muddies the water of the mind.
I got to admit in the last couple of years so many gurmukhs are springing up willing to help. 10 years ago we had no one. The problem for us now is which teacher is the best, who will get us to Waheguru the fastest. LOL The problem is we are jumping boats too frequently and that is our downfall. Your going to listen to so many different teachers jugtis your going to end up saying I heard that one before. But never actually deeply experienced any of them. They will just remain techniques.
My current teacher says forget everything now and start again and revert back to gurmantar. The day I stop answering your questions then your free to move on. But in the mean time don't waste my time or yours if you not going to stay put. Just get on with what I tell you and have faith in Waheguru, SGGS  and your teacher to guide your on the right path.
You know what guys, I still can't do it. So much gyan is coming out these days from all these sources above, that it is pure kun(ear) ras. You get high just listening to it. You think you learned something new which will help you on the journey quicker. But when it comes to actually doing simran abhyaas mind doesn't want to know and you can't take even a few steps. You rather spend your time listening to all the katha on this subject. But that is not bhagti guys, and deep down we all know it.
I'm drowning friends with all these teachers, don't know about you lot.... I don't want to know of anyone else. There isn't enough hours in the day to listen to what they all have to say. Some of us are gristi and it's driving our families nuts that we are just listening to what all these teachers have to say. I'm not interested in other stuff these days. It's like this has become a full time hobby. LOL You can't even concentrate at work because your mind wants to listen what the latest teaching has been posted by one of the above.

Sangat Jee, in the beautiful video above,Guru Jee reveals us the secrets of spirituality, we  all are lost souls, but if we pay attention to the words of  Guru Jee in it,  and sip each Sat Bachan as a person dying of thirst, we shall definetely by His kirpa find our way to Wahiguru Akal Purukh.
He himself, through Satguru Nanak, is  showing us the way to go back to Him, no need for big debates, discussions, nor memorizing anything, but as Guru Jee says, practicing the Truth,  we get purity, which is nothing else  than meditating on Him only.
    Stay blessed,

I pretty much never intervene in conflict but I think it’s necessary right now
This portion of the site is dedicated to sharing experiences. Simple. No arguments, no treguni posts. Nothing.
If you guys want to discuss something, send each other a personal message. That’s what a lot of us do. We talk directly with each other in private conversations. I would recommend doing the same, especially if it’s a personal issue.
People who don’t believe in sharing their spiritual experiences, also usually believe in not reading about them either. People who don’t share, typically feel susceptible to their ego feeding off of the compliments. People who don’t read, don’t want their mind tricking them during their own meditation. I understand where some of you come from.
That’s why if you share, make sure you remember it’s waheguru within you experiencing waheguru. And nothing more.
And if you read experiences, make sure you do your bhagti in gurmat with Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as your reference. Sharing will help you verify the validity.
Sharing is what helped me progress. @Sat1176kept me accountable and @Lucky gave me guidance. We moved together as a family and all made progress. We all came to this site as beginners with little to no experience. We did not argue, fight or compete against each other. We cared and lifted each other with compassion. We changed each others lives for the better because we shared openly, kept each other accountable, shared our knowledge and made sure each and every one of us was doing well and on track. It was our love for one another that kept our bhagti strong. It’s hard to believe this family was formed over 6 years ago. Time really flies.
That being said, I want this argument to end here. If you need to say something to one another, send a direct message. But I’m hoping the posts after this post will solely be about experiences and guidance rather than small talk and arguments. I want you guys to treat each other with love and respect. You are a sangat parivaar. Your bhagti will thank you later.

If I agree with what someone has said I will like. Please don't lecture me on what I should and shouldn't like. I'm not aware of liking any post with nindaya and recall only liking one post today by Sukh_preet where I agree with her view about sharing. This whole topic is about sharing. I find it annoying when people come on here and say don't share and try and discourage others from talking further. As if they are the naam simran police. It's so demotivating and infusing paranoia into people's head to think negative and watering the seeds of doubt (bahm). No one is forcing anyone to share what they don't want to and those that do are happy to do so. We will never learn if we don't ask. I am personally grateful for the cyber sangat I have met on this forum. Some I've now become good friends with and have met personally.
If people got access to mahapursh by all means go have 1-to-1 conversations and keep your conversations gupt as you please. There is no need to be post in this topic. None of us here claim to be experts. Just simple Sikh brothers and sisters walking on the path and trying to help where we can like we wished we had when we were starting out. We don't have all the answers and sometimes keep quiet if we don't know. We may be able to direct you to someone who may know but there is no pressure on anyone to do anything.
Some people just have allergic reactions when anything spiritual is discussed as if some major sin is being committed. This forum broke the taboo topic of experiences. Those of us who shared aren't suffering or regret talking about it. Any shortcomings are our own or were supposed to be a passing phenomena, not because we talked about it and Waheguru took it away. Experiences come and go.
It is very disappointing to see newcomers coming onboard seeking advice, only to be discouraged about sharing something that maybe troubling. I think it is sad since it may have taken them courage to write and post in the first place. I've seen the same members do it again and again. If you don't believe in sharing keep out of the this topic. Stop enforcing your views on others.
We have all had some kind of experience whether big or small. When you first encounter something strange and out of the ordinary it does trouble you. If it happens again well and good. If it doesn't then no big deal either, just stop being negative about it. Just keep moving forward.
Where is the average Sikh supposed to go who are not associated with any Jathabandi or those who respect all Jathabandi but are not attached to any? We Sikhs are our own worst enemy at times, constantly trying to pull each other down from the legs trying to hinder progress through indirect negativity, rather than encouraging each other and saying keep climbing.
Where are we going to learn about naam, simran or bhagti? It certainly isn't discussed in 99% of Gurdwaras near me.
I'm pleased to say this forum is one great resource for those interested on the path of naam simran. No one is on a ego trip or judgemental of those who wish to do naam simran. Everyone helps where they can and encourages where possible. There is so much knowledge contained on this site with links that has taken years to accumulate. We didn't have a clue where to look years ago. It was like searching for a needle in a haystack of where one should begin. What technique should one adopt as a beginner? What was the sounds, tastes, smells in our heads? Why was our bodies shaking etc?
So many brothers and sisters came forward and said to hell with this hidden gupt view, stood up and said we are not afraid to talk about it and are having similar experiences and issues. We want to learn, share and make progress. As we found more information on the path we shared so other's don't waste time searching like we had to. Hopefully what is being shared is helping those start their journey quicker than if everyone was working at it alone. So much time is wasted looking for answers or direction.
Bravo friends, God bless you all....
    Waheguru kirpa karan.

    Bhai Sahib,
Anger and Ego (common to all of us) are at play in this situation.
Your ego has stood in the way of you making the effort to learn gurmukhi and at least a basic understanding of what the teachings guru sahib is telling us about which would help us in crossing this terrifying world ocean. It told you that listening for hours is a good substitute for learning gurmukhi and making no effort to understand our Gurus teachings.
Anger because someone stated that you should make an effort to understand Gurbani which went against your ego.
So going forward if you were to make these efforts, maybe vahiguru will bless you with reduction in ego/anger and give you a better understanding of his teachings. (perhaps these comments may be from Vahiguru himself to turn you towards the direction of making more efforts on gurbani?)
I wish you all the best while you take steps on this journey and may vahiguru guide you himself.
    regards

Academics, if at all useful (content keeps being revised hence the need for constant updation) will help us get a meal in this lifetime whereas bandagi is for this life and beyond; yet our time allocation for both these activities is inversely proportional to their importance.!
