Ps. And the great King Sri Ram Chandar, son of great King Dasrath was also very humble. He touched the feet of the destroyer of Kshaatriya Clan, the Avtar of Shivji himself, Parshu Ram, and extracted all his power through touching his feet, destroying him forever.

What I have noticed with Bhai Balbir Singh Ji is that he is very humble and always shows humility, and is ready to grab the other persons shakti, like how ramchandra did to parshu ram.  I think he does not look at the other persons fault, he just respects anyone who calls themselves a saint even though they might be fake.I dont seen any ill intentions on part of Baba Ji, just a higher level of perception, plus we do not know the context either.
It would be like why Bhai Ghanaiya Ji were first aiding the enemy...

Tradition seems to suggest it was the outcome of hill rajay instigating the Moghuls against the Guru after much previous conflict in the area, which saw lot of duplicity on part of the local rajay. One moment they would fight alongside Guru ji and solicit his help - the next fight and conspire against him.

I'm sure the radical new faith Guru ji was preaching in the area couldn't have gone down too well either. Throw in jealousy towards an emerging, radical powerful force in what they considered their neck of the woods, one with material wealth and subjects that could challenge their own 'blue blooded' lineage, and who had chastised them previously - and hey presto - you have the making of a 'wonderful drama'.

The rajay may have sent petitions to Aurangzab through vakils? Aurenga in turn, may have contacted Guru ji to negotiate in the situation. This is where the accusations of oath breaking probably come in? Even if he was down south, there was still good communication channels across the land.

Sister, ask God, why did he make females (on average) physically weaker than men? After all, he could have given them the same physical strength (on average) as men. Why did he make our brains different?
Gender equality is an unscientific principle. Sikhism does not go against science. Having said that, science is still way behind Sikhism.
Also, there are certain groups in Sikhism which allow women to be part of Panj Pyaray, but it is against the tenets of Sikhism. These groups sprang up in Sikhism, many years after tenth master of Sikhs had gone. The so-called official code of conduct for Sikhs does not ban women from being part of Panj Pyaray, but that document has not been accepted by all groups.

please dont try to confuse sangat. AKJs are not a puratan samparda...whatever they do doesn't define sikhi in its true form. Even if akjs had respect for dasam granth I would still consider them maleech as they are a newly formed jatha.

I would never take amrit from akjs let alone a woman...if guru Gobind Singh wanted women in thepanj he would have, only men stood up. Stop trying to change sikhi to suit your belief s.

Didn't one of the akjs panj in the UK have their son star in a gay porno? What can we learn from these people ..nothing but how to restrict your sexual nature thus becoming a closest homo.
Please dontdont rrefer to akjs in the future as they are pakhand.

This is a very good topic you have created paapiman, because it is very relevant when talking about how some people perceive the wording in CharitarPakhiyan and believe that the Gurus could never have used such words. It reminds me of a time, when I was doing the Sikhi to the max hukamnama on screen, and the word "prostitute" came up in the english translation. The granthi avoided using the word, but the president had a go at me afterwards for putting it on and said that I should skip that line in future.

There is a shabad in Guru Granth Sahib where the term "stiff nipples" are used. Its there as a metaphor for someone who is young and full of emotions and stuff (i think), but the thing is it's there to teach.
Just like in school, you cannot be taught about reproduction/human body without using certain words.

But it isn't for everyone to understand. Look at the reaction from admin cut. It's just so hollow, it sound like a admin cut woman scolding her child for something. "Really, I am appalled..." Dear oh dear.

And like some deranged inadequate the admin cut just keeps on and on.

What a hypocrit. She disgraced herself a long time ago on this forum, and still hung around to admin cut.
On the other hand, paapiman you have brought a good topic to the forum, and after some of your recent efforts, it certainly is something I hope we will see more of.

Mention the above tuks to any non-Sikh Punjabi and he will, most likely, agree that there is sexual imagery involved in these verses. People on this forum, being Sikhs, know that it is referring to the love between, soul bride and husband God.
Similarly, Sri Charitropakhian Sahib jee has deeper spiritual meanings. If one rejects it, for it being sexually explicit, then one will also have to reject the above verses of SSGGSJ.
Easy way out - If one has so much problem with tenth master's holy words, then one must leave Sikhism.

Agreed Neo, and its entirely possible that given the depth and beauty of said discourse, would draw that non-Sikh towards following Sikhi anyway. But by protesting, those guys did nothing except push that person forever away from Sikhi. Though I mentioned the edict, and posted it for everyone to see, I don't fully condone it for the reason I just stated.  There are those who even say anand karaj can only be for Amritdhari Sikhs too.  I think we need to stop all these divisions. What's the worst that would ever happen if a non-Sikh was married by Anand Karaj? Even if they never adopted Sikhi, they would likely know the beauty and deep spirituality of it, and they would still likely contemplate the lavans, and that would help them on their spiritual journey no matter what. What is accomplished by ruining someone's marriage other than forever driving people away from Sikhi?

Such a sad, sensitive issue for which there is clearly not a single answer without an ego. Gurbani (SGGS ji scriptures) have un-denying elegance & poetic beauty that words cannot do any justice for. Mixed marriages are happening across religions including sikhi. I believe if your partner does not support you on your beliefs – it’s highly questionable whether they will support you in a marriage. None of us can Judge, who is good or bad as every atma (soul) has pramathama (god). I personally could not live with the fact if I knew I had broken two souls from joining to pramathama– breaking an atma in which pramathama lives.
"hum neyhi change, bura neyhi koi "

Running around insisting they alone can decide who is or isn't a Sikh (or a Muslim, or a Christian, or a human being), or who can and cannot get married in one place or another eventually lead us to sectarian strife. They may be popes, politicians, SGPC committees or young 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants who feel a desperate need to carve out a distinct identity to stave off alienation.

The message of the gurus was far, far more open, welcoming and courageous than that. It recognized our common humanity and placed that first, above narrow theological concerns. In that light, that light that gave birth to all, if two people wish to be married in a gurudwara in a ceremony that has meaning to them, we should welcome them.

Every religion has conservative and liberal elements. Sikhism is no different and at various times different elements may control the apparatus of the faith. So let's not kid ourselves that the interpretation someone places on a ritual today is the way it has always been and always will be understood. There have always been and always will be both liberal and conservative gurudwaras that attract sangats
most recent history on 1947 partition of India and Pakistan and get out and meet families across Pakistan and India who were displaced. You will realize till today, many muslim/hindu ladies married sikh men and many muslim/hindu men married sikh women - the influences of one apparatus. Prior to this in villages approx 18th /17th century muslim, hindu and sikhs living in one village inter-married. when faith had no ego's in villages. now its a matter of ensuring "force"is not applied to reduce a community or sect that can possibly be diminished of identity. Which happens across muslim, hindu and sikhs.
Rightly so you are born a specific way for a reason & should never be forced to convert or take pro-creation as a solution. Rather deal with recognizing yourself (apna mol pechan) within an evolving world – fighting back only when you’re forced rather than discouraging others from Sach (the truth).
The fine balance exits within how to maintain Sikhi progressively whilst staying in Hukam of SGGS ji ( of all 10 gurus jis joth ) - having first hand experience of Talibanstains coercing me subconsciously/forcibly to Islam - for which I respected the beauty of islam  - but never converted.  The actions of some Sikh Youths and Sikh Council ideas are exactly the same as the Islamic ones - Do we really want to dilute Sikhi to parallels with Islam (im already challenged with Sufi (which I love) and baba fareed ji and baba kabeer ji;s poetic beauty comparative parallels with Islam). I feel deeply sad as though Sikhi is being made into Islam from new guidelines that are being surfaced.
With approx. only 10 % of world Sikhs being part of the Khalsa Panth - that Guru Gobind Singh ji created - I feel Amrit is given too easily. For I have met I can say 4 Khalsa Panth individuals out of the 10 % whom I'm in complete awe of and inspired by - their humility, love of Gurbani, knowledge & strength - being applied in their daily life with chardi khala. If we had more true Khalsa Panth individuals like this - we would not go off on tangents. These 4 respected gurmukhs have one core characteristic in common - they recognise themselves (meaning their soul & have conquered their mind to a high degree)....."Apna Mol Pechn".
If as Sikhs - we all recognised ourselves truly, deeply - the love being emitted would never allow us to have inter-faith marriages to the degree we do now.
Maybe its Utopia - I'm wishing for. 4 things need shaking up & transparency :
    1.  Guru ghars & Taqts need to stop running like corporate businesses - after all 90 % of their income is generated from non-khalsa panth individuals. Is this their drive ?
    2. True knowledge transfer with individual responsibility to learn/veechar Gurbani (including 22 languages). How many in our Panth know 22 languages ?
    3. More history research - not enough Sikh Historians (as much as I respect Dhadi's in guru ghar, half the time they get history wrong)
    4. Applying equality for women granthis - where is the equality ? Start treating Sikh women equally  would be revolutionary  as this is a sure guarantee they wont find equality in any other form of society.

"The Ninth Nanak, Guru Teghbahadur, being of a pious bent toured the Eastern provinces with the Bengali monarch in the hope of establishing a prominent Sikh foothold in that region. Since the days of the first Nanak, the Sikhs had been spread far and wide and the Guru desired to collate the Eastern Sikhs under the authority of Nanak. With him traveled a several-hundred strong guard composed of his father, Har Gobind's, finest warriors. These men had inflicted costly defeats on the Delhi court in their heyday and were always prepared to re-manifest the glory which they had earned under their founder.'

Simarpal Kaur (Australia) Police - Australian police. The police force of a country that is renown for its racism. People who stick illegal aliens in what are modern day concentration camps. A nation whose prime minister has pretty much said that he would rather the immigrants drowned in the sea than accept them.....astonishing considering that he was probably the descendant of a convict and the way that the country itself has been straight stolen off Aboriginals, who are treated like second rate citizens in their own land!

Randeep Kaur US Military (Afghanistan) - Yeah, the people in Afghanistan are really chuffed about being invaded by the US aren't they....

Harinder Kaur Police USA - Did you not notice the spate of murders of black men by members of this organisation recently....??? Then lets talk about how that land was robbed from its natives!

Like I said: you are hyper-sensitive to male hegemony/patriarchy and can't see beyond that, whilst rampant racism totally eludes you.... a perfect example of how white privilege obscures your senses. You see nothing abnormal about the systematic ill treatment of non-white people. You don't seem smart enough to see uncomfortable realities.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was ensnared by the wiles of a courtesan and fell for her. Her influence over him enabled traitors to enter the raj and reach very high levels. Consequently, at a key period in Sikh history these traitors conspired with the British and betrayed the raj. The raj fell. As a result every single Sikh man, woman, and child was affected, not just for that generation, but for all generations to come. Besides oppressing the people, the British destroyed the Sikh school system which was one of the best in the world and promoted independent though. That school system has never been recovered, as can be seen by the pendu mentality of many of our people. The British also spread propaganda and worked at creating divisions within our panth, including divisions regarding our Guru Granth Sahib ji and other scriptures and historically important writings. The consequences of one man not have read and understood the Charitropakhyan continue to affect the worldwide panth to this day.
