The following pangti stood out to me whilst reading Guru Maharaj but I soon realised how hard this state is to accept and maintain.
    Ang 1168
Whoever sees the Lord`s Creative Power with his eyes, and hears the Guru`s Bani with his ears, and utters the True Name with his mouth,
akhee kudrat kannee banee mukh aakhan sach naam.
attains the perfect wealth of honor, and intuitively focuses his meditation on the Lord.

It's good practice just to spend a few minutes each day looking out without any kind of attachment and embedding the teachings in the below pangtis in the mind. The same message is explained in the Saakhi when Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji visits Mecca and similar in the example of Bhai Ghanaiya Ji on the battle field. There are many more pangtis in Guru Maharaj that say the same thing again and again...

There is so much fight and argument over gender inequality. One bad example I saw was when a Sikh couple got married and the female chose to walk side by side with him instead of being behind him because she thought if she walks behind him then there is not an equality. I know there are many men who dominant women like crazy and it's certainly wrong but I have seen many women who fight everywhere under the name of equal rights too. How are we going to learn the value of forgiveness if all we do is battle against the gender. My mom does not say my dads name and I never questioned that because Mata gujri ji never said the name of her husband. Of course, when I get married I will say his name since old time is gone but he will get proper respect and I won't have fights over gender rights. How can I conquer my anger and learn to see Vaheguroo in everyone while I am having an argument over that he did not help me while doing the dishes.
Gurbani teaches us to see Vaheguroo ji in everybody and learn to forgive others since in the end what matter most is our own actions. If I am a guy I can go around yelling I am a man and you woman worship me, respect me and in return I won't give you respect. This is wrong. If I am a woman, which I am lol. I can go around saying Nope, I won't do the dishes unless you help me since I believe in equal rights. I see that wrong, if I am not dying and can do dishes by myself I will do it lol. I know cheesy Example but I hope my point can be understood lol.
when a person lower themselves it does not make them weak, it makes them stronger. If someone curse at you and you choose to stay quiet then you are not weak, you showed your strength. It's super easy to curse back but it takes real strength to not curse back and let it go. Speaking from my experience, people think I am weak when I stay quiet but in my mind I don't hurt others and is not cursing back at the Vaheguroo I see in them.
You all are more mature and experienced than me, sorry if said anything wrong.

They are great but the clicking sound is not discreet. When I used to use it on the train whilst keeping in my pocket, people use to give me strange looks wondering what I was carrying.
They are good for shabad or mool mantar jaap but I wouldn't use it for waheguru jaap.

Sat1176 got a reaction from Khushi in Some Simran/ Meditation Techniques To Remember Our Bapu Ji.
I was watching tv the other day and a teacher of another faith made a remark which got me thinking. He said until you don't have inner peace within yourself god will never come before you. Why? He said god knows that you've got troubles in your life and he knows if he came before you and asks what do you want? Most people will say please make this better or take that problem away or can I have this. He said god is above petty thoughts like this so won't waste his time. He said until you don't learn to be content within you will never meet god or have a godly experience.

Simple effective message I thought. Point noted.

Sat, the key is to just take the message from the dream and not to focus on imagery. All our dreams have some underlying message from our subconscious that is trying to tell the conscious. You have to learn to decipher the messages yourself and what is important in any dream is to try and think exactly what your feeling of emotional state was whilst in the dream..and this usually helps you get the message.
Dreams and thoughts are MAYA and will remain maya, but you have to use it to your advantage to help you swim across it. Avoiding or ignoring maya is not going to help.
They say that the when one transcends maya and conscious connects with subconscious, then there will be no more dreams......remember, just take the message,..act on it,...and move on.. IF you don't get the message and act on it, then the same sort of dreams will keep re-occurring. You never really want to have any sort of recurring dreams because it means you are stuck and not learning the lessons somehow. ....// I'm speaking from what I've learned in my own experience :)

Bit of an update since I have had the dream of Guru Nanak Dev Ji days ago. The dream has left quite an imprint in my mind and various scenes from that dream constantly appear before my mind's eye when I'm doing simran now which can make it difficult to concentrate on the dhun of the gurmantar. On some occasions it leads to quite a bit of biraag which seems to bubble up and flow. Been consulting a few people about it there seems to be two opinions as to whether this was progress or a hindrance which kind of left me confused.
Some think it is a positive step and say it happened to offer guidance and blessing. It also shows that the mind is beginning to do abhiyas in dreams which means it is hitting the subconscious mind. Because there was an emotional and physical response following the dream it was no ordinary dream. There are a few pangtis in Guru Maharaj that mention this.
Another side say that even having dreams of Guru ji is still an illusion and the mind is trying to delude me in place known as harichandauri. Continue to work harder on abhiyas of Gurmantar with focused dhyan to further still the mind during the day. That in turn will help reduce the onset of dreams at night and help reduce the onset of such illusions.
Brief explanation given in the following passage.
Difficulties in the path of crossing Trehkuti:
The spiritual seeker trying to transcend Trehkuti also called Bikham Nadee (Turbulent River) will face a delusion in the form of Parkaash (luminous light). This is the light of five elements. The element of fire will be of red color, element of water of white, element of air of green, element of earth of yellow and the element of ether or sky will be of blue or black color. The maya is always on the move and Truth and Naam are immovable. Our physical body of five elements is a cloth given over Naam. The subtle five elements revolve around naam inside our body. At this stage, we see clips similar to those of movies. In this delusion a seeker can see subtle make-believe forms of gurus, prophets and other holy figures. In fact, these manifesting delusions are an effort by Kaal to hinder seekers entry into Nij-ghar (The Tenth Door). The Parkaash of the Five Elements creates this delusion. This is nothing but Maya’s deluding network. In Gurbani this illusory phenomena is called mirage (Gandarbh Nagri or Harchandauri). Mind caught in this web of illusion cannot realize its true self. Gurbani forbids entry into this web of delusion.
marig tisnaa paykh bhulnay vuthay nagar gandharab.
Seeing the mirage, the optical illusion, the people are confused and deluded.
    (SGGS 1425)
harichand-uree daykh moothaa koorh sayjaa raavi-aa.
Beholding an illusion, you are deceived, and on your bed, you enjoy a false lover.
marig tarisnaa ar supan manorath taa kee kachh na vadaa-ee.
Illusions and dream-objects possess nothing of greatness.
When we will move forward by merging in Naam, the air will end.At the same time the light of five elements will also end. Crossing Trikuti, when seekers consciousness gains entry into the Nij-Ghar also called Thir-Ghar (the Tenth Door)
Anyway just thought I'd share both perspectives should anyone else encounter such situations as it helps keep one grounded and focused on the journey ahead.
May Guru ji continue to show us the correct way forward...

Saddened to read of your plight, but grateful that in all of the misery you are drawn towards Waheguru ji. We are always sometimes or another faced with hardships in life which we wish we didn't have to deal with on a day to day basis. It may help you to seek professional counseling so you can open up to some one who knows how to help you heal and can be an confidential ear for you to let out all that anguish and overcome these deep sometimes scaring experiences that life throws our way.
Try to reduce the negativity in yourself and not think of yourself as a burden. Always remember WaheGuru put you here for a reason, and that is:
This human body has been given to you.
    bha-ee paraapat maanukh dayhuree-aa.
This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe.
gobind milan kee ih tayree baree-aa.
    Nothing else will work.
avar kaaj tayrai kitai na kaam.
Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the Naam.
    mil saaDhsangat bhaj kayval naam

Try and occupy as much time as you can by reading gurbani, do paath or simran. Which ever you enjoy. Use that as a basis to combat these negative emotions you are feeling. Over time with Guru's grace the less time you devote to negativity the less it will have an effect on you. Beat this negative mind with the sword of the gurmantar with full dhyan on the sound as you jap.
Something extremely positive I read a while ago was:
It is often said that only 1 in a Billion meets God. That person will be Me!

My heart goes out to you. It will be difficult to get a good life, but you've already taken the first step by coming to this forum and sharing. That's a big starting step and I believe that you can do it and take it further and achieve a good life that you want.
In order to get that life, you gotta ask yourself, what is the ONE THING you can do right now that will improve your state?

Recognize that your life is ALL Chaos, NO Order. Everything is messed up and nothing seems to be in a good place.

So the idea is to try to establish some kind of order, some kind of rhythm. Try to get into some kind of a structured life and then go from there.

You want to start introducing activities that will provide a much needed structure to your life.

    1. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time. Maintain your circadian rhythms. (awake during light, asleep during dark)
    2. Get any job that you can get. Any job. because a job will give you a strong structure to build your life.
    3. Do you have friends? Start meeting people.
    4. Go to the Gurudwara and meditate.
    5. Get driving lessons and get used to driving, slowly but surely you will do it.
    etc

When you start doing these kind of things that give your life some order that you can build around. It is a like a foundation of a building.

Make it really easy. Pick just ONE THING you can do immediately, right now and start working on that... right now.

It's very basic and the story line quite simple, but the key points I noted was the sound they played when she hears the inner sound was just like the high pitched whistle some of us have heard. Those who have heard it will instantly recognise it. Her spiritual guide in the movie directs her to not just ignore it when it happens but just focus on it and let it guide her. Simply relax into it. When she does that the inner vision and understanding happen.
Interesting how the sound was phrased as being "That's Your Wakeup Call" and this life is just the dream....

I have been awake for a few hours now but the emotional response to this dream is profound. I am a emotional wreck and for reasons unbeknown to me I just want to be alone and cry. Just thinking about it causes the tears to flow.

Last night before I fell asleep I wrote that response to you saying I prefer to stick with naam simran above all else, even if it means keeping Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji feet out of Dhyan. I did not know if it was even right to say such a thing on this forum and was in two minds about whether I should reply to you or just keep quiet. What happened. Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji himself came in my dream. I'm won't go in the details of the dream but will say the dream ended at exactly that point where I placed my head underneath his charan and I'm crying like never before. I awoke from the dream physically crying and shaking due to the intensity of the experience.  Even as I write this the pain in my chest is still there and the tears continue to roll down.
My what a strange journey of the mind this is. Even if it was a dream, being with Guru ji for that period of time was bliss and I am thankful.
    Dhan Guru Nanak Dev ji.

Agree with the above. During simran if you are unable to keep both pathways open then it is beneficial if the left side is open as opposed to right.  Right activates the mind whilst left side is supposed to be cooling and calming. Also known as taking suraj into chand. Put your dhiyan on left nostril or left eye.

First formal attempt - the expert version is just a tad bit too hard but intermediate is easy. Even with intermediate I felt more of a balance between the nostrils than I did when I first began.

Bro... Awareness comes from Naam simran. There is no other awareness that is better than that.

This is a scare tactic, fear- mongering.

This comes from a lack of naam simran.
Like on a larger scale - Bush saying
"the situation is bad in USA"
    "Some terrorists are causing trouble"
    "Hiding weapons of mass destruction"

Scaring people to wage war with other nations. You know how many innocent people died in those wars?
The so-called terrorists were trained by the US and UK, sold arms to by US companies.
You know they found no weapons of mass destruction?

These are lower states of consciousness. Lack of awareness (naam simran).
Fear of "pakhandi babey" is going to eat Sikhs alive; it is more harmful to Sikhs than the "pakhandi babey" themselves.

    Remember that.
You go around putting labels of "Brahmgyani" on people's forehead and remove it from others.
    Are you a brahmgyani?

How do you recognize a Brahmgyani?

How do you know who is fake and who is not?
Bro that's all you should be concerned with.
What is something you can learn from Baba Sawan Singh that will help you grow spiritually?

Bhai Randhir Singh was joking bro.

Baba Sawan Singh is talking about atma, which is Brahm Swaroop. Bhai Randhir Singh is making a joke on that atam gyan.

This joke does not reflect anyone's spirituality.

PS this type of joke is a common joke amongst spiritual folks. Especially advaidists - who believe that atma is parmatma.
