Xylitol got a reaction from zereraz in how to remain still in one asan for 3 hrs ?
The key when sitting in crossed leg postures is to just let the legs go to sleep. This will help overcome body consciousness.
The feeling of the rug being off the ground etc is due to changes happening in the body, probably a purification of the inner ear channels (an area which is responsible for balance) creating an illusionary feeling. You can safely ignore it. There was a time when i used to feel like I was flying when I sat in asan.

I think historical dates are actually being changed. The reason for this is that nanakshahi doesn't just state that a particular date is in rememberance of a particular event, it actually lists such events as the anniversary dates, implying that the event happened exactly X years ago.

Also, aren't there Shabds which discuss the months used in Bikrami system?

The whole idea to switch to nanakshahi seems like rajneeti to me, an attempt to create further division within the panth.

I think it's mostly a waste of time to read tons of websites. The best is to learn directly from the immensely spiritually elevated people of our own dharm b/c sometimes those of other dharms will do things differently. This can cause dubida (doubts) and confusion.
Ojas rises when we do sangat bhagti sangat seva and sangat. Avoid vikaars nindya backbiting etc. As we tyag (internally let go of ) kaamic thoughts only then will it rise. Otherwise that sexual energy stays as kaam. In a nutshell, it's a simple matter of doing the right thing long enough and avoiding the wrong thing long enough and lots of satsangat.
I emphasize satsangat so much b/c their energy helps an incredible amount, speaking from my experience. In comparing my rate of advancement before I started doing regular satsangat vs. back when I did more bhagti at home it is a truly immense eye-opening difference. And it's owed all to satsangat.

A friend of mine just met with Sant Jagjit Singh ji Harkhowalwale. He said it's okay to do paath of these kinds of Banis but don't do lots of repetitions without the appropriate viddhi. There is special viddhi for Brahm Kavach or Chandi di Var if your going to be doing tons of abhyaas of these. It's not for everyone. So speak to proper Mahapurkh before you start doing lots. These Banian are different than our regular nitnem Banis, the maryada for doing lots of abhyaas is much more sukt.
He mentioned, for example, that a singh came to him who had done chalisa of Chandi di Vaar without the appropriate viddhi. After about 20 days he came to see Baba ji b/c blood had started coming out of his stool, his nose, his mouth... There is a right way to go about doing these things so you should speak to a mahapurkh before beginning.
Baba ji is currently in Surrey BC and will be in Toronto in a few days.

Bani relaxes us so much it's very easy to fall asleep.

Are you sure the pains are not from postural issues?

As for clearing blockages just continuing with gurmantr jaap, mool mantr, and bani will clear them over time.

I take this to mean that we shouldn't start and then stop for periods of time. If we take a long break from simran than the churn (that shaanti, that focused surti, that anand from Naam) could be lost. This is why so many don't make it anywhere. When we are motivated we push ourselves, when motivation wanes we start indulging  in the world and fail this test repeatedly.  This is what happens to me. Then we have to make efforts to rebuild that shaanti, that focus, that anand...

10 Gurus in human body form, 11th in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji form, 12 in roop of the Khalsa. Point here is there there is only one Guru, but manifest in different outward forms. Also, the Khalsa is roop (form) of the Guru only, while Guru Granth Sahib ji is the Guru.

Xylitol got a reaction from intrigued in Charitropakhyan or Erotica ? viewer discretion advised.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh was ensnared by the wiles of a courtesan and fell for her. Her influence over him enabled traitors to enter the raj and reach very high levels. Consequently, at a key period in Sikh history these traitors conspired with the British and betrayed the raj. The raj fell. As a result every single Sikh man, woman, and child was affected, not just for that generation, but for all generations to come. Besides oppressing the people, the British destroyed the Sikh school system which was one of the best in the world and promoted independent though. That school system has never been recovered, as can be seen by the pendu mentality of many of our people. The British also spread propaganda and worked at creating divisions within our panth, including divisions regarding our Guru Granth Sahib ji and other scriptures and historically important writings. The consequences of one man not have read and understood the Charitropakhyan continue to affect the worldwide panth to this day.

    It's fine.
You can pm me if you have any issues with it.
If you want to do advanced simran then ask a sant for simran di jugti, do whatever they say, then go back after 6 months and ask for the next stage. Most people aren't serious so they won't give the advanced stuff to them.

Xylitol got a reaction from Premi in Practical Ways Of Avoiding Lust
A few points that worked for me when I was younger:
burn up all your body’s energy. don’t go to bed with lots of energy left in your body. workout, work, do whatever you need, but this excess energy might bother you if you go to bed with too much in your body. Stay busy in simran, sangat, seva, learning, work, studying whatever. just stay busy.  socializing with sangat who are clean is helpful. You’ll know if they are clean b/c you can feel their energy, or at the very least notice if you get increase of wrong thoughts around them working towards a large goal really helps to channel your focus and discipline (as noted above).  avoid eating overly sweet or salty or spicy foods. This is especially important in the late afternoon. Avoid all achar from late afternoon onwards. The increased acidity from these foods irritates the sensitive nerves in the genitals, causing the surti to be pulled down. If the surti is just down there, that’s not such a big deal, but most of us will then start to get kaam thoughts b/c we lack discipline. don’t eat too much, only eat as much as the body needs.  don’t eat from the hands of a vikaari person, their negative energy will mess with the food you eat.
    Bhagti things that help:
continual simran, it might be easier if you plant your surti in one of the chakras, as it helps anchor it up high. the key is to prevent it from going to the lower chakra. going low isn’t bad, but just makes it more likely to have kaam thoughts b/c of their association with this area.  imagine the star on Guru Nanak Sahib ji’s holy charan placed at this chakra, it will help raise your surti.  to always have a recording of simran or bani playing helps. When one ear gets tired, switch the mp3 players headphone to the other ear. I used to do this even when watching tv or sleeping.

almost any motivation is ok, as per Gurmat. I believe it was Bhagat Kabir ji who prays for food etc. signifying asking for our needs is ok. I think it's even ok to ask for things we want but don't need.
But the highest thing in Gurmat is asking for God.
There's a shabad, Gauri M. 5, Thir Ghar Baisho Har Jun Pyare, Satgur Tumare Kaaj Savare - I have heard abhyaas of this shabad helps makes a person's works complete.

In Gurbani, Guru Nanak Dev ji writes that he expresses the word of God as it comes to him. So Gurbani comes directly from God, is even a form of God itself, and is expressed and written by beings who are sargun saroops of God.

Fruits and Vegetables are actually alive. For many, if you plant them in the ground their seeds will sprout or the roots will grow once again. Grains however, are dead, if you don't count the yeast inside them.

The sweetness of Amrit russ comes before opening of the dasam dwar. It's normal and happens when a person meditates for a long time. It can go away if a person leaves meditation. It's definitely not metaphorical.

btw, the ruhani satsang website is a radhasoami site. before i came into sikhi i read a fair bit from that site. a lot of the teachings are correct and a lot of them are wrong. i would advise that you stay away from that site. if you want more information than i recommend the katha and books of sant waryam singh ratwara sahib, and atam marag magazine, and katha of sant baldev singh ji balandpuri. any mahapurkhs katha is helpful really, but these tend to focus more on naam than most.

you could try going to a meditation retreat. i've heard of this one zen retreat where you live there for a month. if you move from your asan- you get hit with a stick, if you wake up late- you get hit with a stick, if you talk out of turn - stick, if you chew less than the prescribed number of times before swallowing your food - stick, if you try to eat more than allowed - stick.... now that's how you build a jeevan!!

sant ka marg dharm ki pauri katha discusses this (by Sant Kartar Singh). You can get this from www.gurmatveechar.com.

stages, as far as I'm aware, can be sliced up in different ways for explanation purposes. For example, sunnai (listening), mannai (obeying), mastering, and then bhramgyan is one way of looking at the stages.

You already have started off, just Amrit, rahit (incl nitnem kakaars naam simran amritvela) good sangat etc.

On the right path? IF you're increasing in bani/rahit etc, like over time you notice you're getting more kirpa on you, I think those are solid signs of being on teh right path. A decrease signals a withdrawal of grace, means that you may have made a mistake but may still be on the right path overall.

Darshan of Guru in dreams means you're out of chaurassi lakh joons (lower janams - but doesn't mean you won't come back as human). I don't know what partakh (like in person, real life in front of you) darshan means, just that it's kirpa.

When you're stuck you can always do ardass and open up a tika of Gurbani to a random ang with your question in mind. Just start reading from there. Or go to the gurdwara and sit by the stage with the question in your mind and listen to katha. There are also lots of kathas by powerful sants available, I think Das posted a list of Baba Isher Singh ji's kathas with the topics of all those kathas listed.

whatever name that you're japping. We didn't go in depth into this topic, he just said don't get focused on anhad shabad, go past it.
i (personal view) see it as a helper. listening to it pulls your surti out from the world so you can more easily focus on naam. But if you are already focused than its fine to completely ignore it and focus on naam.

Anhad Shabad helps bring our surti inward.
However, Sant Jagjit Singh ji says Andhad shabad is NOT Naam. Keep the main focus on Naam.

People are where they are in their spiritual path, you have no right to attack them for that.
