Bhai Randhir Singh was joking bro.

Baba Sawan Singh is talking about atma, which is Brahm Swaroop. Bhai Randhir Singh is making a joke on that atam gyan.

This joke does not reflect anyone's spirituality.

PS this type of joke is a common joke amongst spiritual folks. Especially advaidists - who believe that atma is parmatma.

    khalsa Jee,
I've read about it somewhere might be in autobiography of bhai sahib. But not sure about source .But I 've read that bhai sahib and Sawan singh were good friends.Where the provided source claims that sawan singh was not a spiritual person?
Even it proves that they both knew each other very well.
So,twisting some words to prove whatever you want is really not task of pride.
I'm not a Radhaswami nor do I'm taking their side. But I've read some books of Sawan singh where I've found that he was really a spiritual person.
So Never do nindya of any one even in anjaan puna.

First of all, I'm NOT a follower of Radhaswami.
It's very irresponsible paapiman. Did you listen to the video clip you've posted?
"Sawan Grewal" name is nowhere mentioned in the clip; so how you got this name? It's really very sad and shameful on your part; one should NOT post any anything online without verifying the facts.
"Sawan Singh Grewal (1858–1948)" was one of the first person who settled in Beas. He was opposed to the formation of separate Mat named as Radhasoami; The Radhasoami name originated from Agra circle.
I'm NOT saying that someone somewhere under somebrand cannot do as claimed in the video but that does NOT mean that you can pull everyone under the same umbrella. There are some cracks who are doing that.
At this present times, there are many many cases where the person belonged to previous Rara-Sahib samparda, Nanaksar samparda but they are indulged in Ego-ist behaviours; some are even continuing the samparda for the money things. Does it mean that you can drag the real Saints under the same tag? It always happen that the real sampardas/groups preach something but later on those teachings are packed in box and sold. So, then who is the culprit? Think about it.
There is NO problem in pointing out the real issues, but these days youth with this internet are so careless that they do not care about the real truth. They just post whatever based upon their very limited point of view and without really looking for the truth.
Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Rara Sahib wale used to say that the Nindea is defined as: Spreading the news for which you did not know if it is true or not (i.e which you have not heard/seen with your own ears/eyes).

I have experienced many dreams.it's weird.l am sharing one as it's a very interesting topic ..last 2 years back i saw a very strange dream..i thought it was happening in reality.but when i woke up i realised it was only a dream.
    I experienced:
There was someone standing there.i couldnt see his face.a sound was coming like he is lord krishna. I usually feel that i am a very bad person and god takes me as nothing.he does not love me or consider me special.the dream was about this..my classmate was standing near that person..my classmate does a lot of meditation or naam jaap..the person standing there was praising her a lot like whatever u want, tell me..you will definitely get what u want..you r a true person and a lot.your life will succeed.i was standing beside her with an angry face as he didnt even look towards me..then i moved on from there.as i was moving through a very strange place.suddenly a huge bright light came ,very bright hugged me so tight.i felt like really someone hold me.i was shedding tears of happiness and i was saying in mind why dont u accept me as your child.suddenly,i scared and tried to let myself free..as i tried to let the light go away, it moved away very rapidly..i saw the light moving away.i could see no one in light..then immediately i woke up..i could not differentiate whether it was a dream or reality.it seems like it really happened to me.my body was shivering ..tell me what was this.what does it mean?

The shabad above is very deeply mystical.
One will ONLY understand it completely in its entirety..after they have experienced Waheguru themselves...ie, when the dasam duar opens and Waheguru opens the door to nijh mahal. -->>waheguru darshan...waheguru parkash...
You can look around and search for the arths, but they will mostly all be diverting from the truth in one way or the other...........Why do I say that ??..
-Because quite simply, when one experiences the whole Sach and the whole Truth.-->then there is no right or wrong way to describe it..
The shabad is purely esoteric and is not about astrology.
I would be surprised to see some arths that would cover more than 65% of the abyaas practice it refers to..because those who have experienced the 100%, would be unable to put it in words...............And like I said,..there can't be no wrong arth or a right one either!
I can give you a few pointers from yoga.....left eye/right eye.,,.left side/right side...ida/pingala... are represented by Moon and Sun. But also in Gurbani,,..depending on the shabad's context, the Sun represents heat and agan which is lower part of body, whereas the cooler moon is head upwards....our poison(bikh) from our doing becomes manifest lower down and the cooling amrit from the top completely eradicates it and changes it into rays of light emerging instead....Some of this is what Guru Nanak iji is pointing at in the shabad.,,,,but he is also describing his jyot being completely immersed in waheguru. at the same time.
One can only get their surti to rise all the way up to dasam duar, when the central nadi-the 'Sukhmana', is fully open.  ...This only opens when the surti from left and right side becomes central... That is just the basic,  however,..it is hard enough!....then follow much more efforts where one has to keep the jeevan jach in line with walking away from duality.................But that's not all,...because many self conflicts inside yourself between your own ego and atma..etc..also have to be addressed and dealt with....and this becomes an ongong battle with the 5 chor.
Sun into moon is also about going into that line in the middle of duality. We have to remember that one can not attain waheguru darshan by technique alone..The Sikh has to Transform into Gurmukh....The simran automatically starts to do this in many unbelievable ways.
Duality has to be conquered towards becoming advait(non-dual).............But you can never become completely advait until you get immersed in the Satch-in totality.
While in maya world, a Sikh has to walk on that very very thin line in the middle of duality--->which is why dasam patshah gave and showed us the double edged khanda and it's very sharp cutting edge-->>which defines the razor thin line that the Sikh treads on.

Das's post above is very good. Astrology is itself a study of the astronomy on our own selves......Gurbani  tells you in many places that the whole universe and it's master(GOBIND)..is within your own body. This then means that what we do inside us, will also affect the world and universe outside,...and vice versa.
Das made some interesting points about our body correlations with the whole cosmos...and some of them I hadn't given much though previously, but there is also significance of 5 digits on each side of our body on hands and feet....the 5 senses. the karam indries..the gyan indries...
The 4 fingers with 3 phalanges each(4x3=12 again)...and there is also the same kind of miri-piri aspects with having a pair of each which represent duality of physical/spiritual...destined/karmic....etc..
There must be so much more,...and I've only just picked the above up here and there and with my own experiences-->conclusions.......but like Das says,, it's very difficult to find an astrologer who is close to the truth in reality because they wouldn't be charging the money!
But I also repeat the same ....about not getting tied up trying to find astrological conclusions in gurbani..
To be honest, you have to find them yourself by going inside and having an internal dialogue with yourself. This way you also find that it helps your simran, because one big drawback in meditation is we sit down and the internal dialogue starts instead of jap. Therefore, try and do as much internal dialogue throughout the day and arrive at the conclusions as well,..as it will help you become more humble as well...But the main point is that in this way, you will have more free dhyan freed up to help put focus on gurmantar.

The above mentioned Shabad is neither referring to eclipse nor is referring to Heart chakra. Here is the full shabad:

The shabad is referring to the process when "The Shabad" permanently resides in the Mind, then one tastes the real Amrit stored in the Crown Chakra. In other words, it is suggesting the last point in the journey to be outside of Time and Space. Crown Chakra is also known as the place of 1000 Suns which is so strong yet so calming that it (the light/ray) overtakes everything. The shabad has nowhere mentioned the Heart Chakra or Eclipse.
Moreover, in reality Astronomy and Astrology are exactly the same Science (Macro/Micro/Effects) but recenty (around 16-17th century) when people started accepting more materialistic views, this Science was broken into 2 different streams: Astrology and Astronomy. It's the same way, these days there are Specialist Doctors for each organ and they just worry about their particular organ; they do NOT understand that each and every cell in this body is interrelated and interlinked and work as ONE BIG SYSTEM.
Moreover, here are some clues to the play of 3 gunas and 5 elements in Space and Time:
Seven is a clue for everything that happens in Time. 7 comes from 3+4 (3 gunas + 4 elements). i.e 7 Traditional planets; 7 Major Chakras; 7 Rishis, and so on. Twelve is a clue for all things that co-exist in space. 12 comes from 3*4 (play of 3 gunas with 4 basic elements in Space). These are the twelve basic points with which everything in space is connected. It is possible to find the right way by connecting the spatial relationship of everything that occurs upon the earth with twelve permanent points in space — the twelve signs of the Zodiac in the cosmos. And there is always certain relation between the numbers Seven and Twelve, and that this relation has something to do with time and space. Time is revealed according to the number Twelve. The above mentioned points are the core of Astrology. It's very easy to say but very hard to understand the play of 12*7=84.
But at last, let me warm you that there are VERY RARE astrologers who fully understand Astrology and Astronomy in real sense but at the same time it does NOT mean that Sikhism is against Astrology. But do NOT try to find paid astrologers and do NOT try to look in Guru Granth Sahib Ji with the intention to find the reference to astrology and then proving that it is accepted in Sikhism. As I always say, this world is never Black-and-White.
Rudolf Steiner has said this perfectly: "Humanity, is intimately connected to cosmic beings, who in turn are related to planets and stars. There is meaning in the cosmos." He rejected the Simplistic notion of the planets determining our lives and behaviour, he shows that as individuals, and with the guidance of spiritual beings, we choose an appropriate time of birth to match the destiny we are to live.
In other words, when we reduce the systems (create Simplistic views separate from another system), then we are bound to fail and this is what is happening with Astrology these days (so-called Zodiac readings).

    The lessons I learnt:
    1) Real Mahapurakhs are full of mercy and forgiveness. They are sent by Nirankar and work under the order of Nirankar. They are antaryami and know our deepest feelings.
    2) It is better not to get into a Pret Jooni in the first hand. If I read Gurbani but do not follow it, then Baba Ji said I could end up being a pret. It is very imp to mould my life acc. to instructions of Gurbani. I have heard in a katha somewhere that Lavan Da Path daily helps in not coming into this jooni as well. Also not having attachment to material possessions will help too. This can be achieved if Guru sahib does kirpa of blessing dhyan of his charan kamal & simran 24/7.

So these are the incidents that happened at night.  The pret created a lot of raucous and noise to scare everybody.  He generated violent winds and storm, and created many dangerous forms.  Baba Ji were in their nitnem  asan, from midnight onwards.  When pret tried everything and couldn’t move or scare anyone, when all his efforts were futile, then he came back to his original form, and stood in front of Baba Ji and asked who are you who has captured my place. Upon hearing his voice, Baba Ji opened his eyes.  Pret asked again who are you ?
Baba Ji replied, “ I have been sent by the Nirankar, in front of whom you beg every day and night to get you out of this joon. In front of whom, you cry and ask for your salvation. That is why we have come.  But look at yourself, how much trouble you have created, and how much storm & raucous you created. Now do you want to get salvated or still roam in this jooni ?”.
Upon listening to this, pret was melted and was crying loudly. He did dandaut bandhan to Baba ji and lied in front of him. He begged, “ I am very miserable. Please forgive me and bless me. You have blessed me with your presence. Please take me out of this jooni.  Please give me salvation.”
Then Baba Ji came into the ‘house of mercy’, took some amrit from his Gadva, sprinkled the pret with some amrit drops. At an instant, he was blessed and salvated. And he was heard saying Baba Ji tuhadi jai hove, and went to dargah in a biban.
So morning time came. Asa di vaar bhog was done.  Slowly people came and wanted to inquire about what happened at night.  At evening time, there was more sangat than before.  At night Baba Ji did amrit bachan and narrated all the incidents that happened at night.  Baba Ji said that pret has been mukt now and went to dargah. There is no need to be scared now, come and do satsangat here everyday.  At that place in Dehradun , there is a beautiful  Nanaksar Gurdwara now, and sangat come from far to do darshan.

Inder Singh thought that Baba Ji gave him darshan and specifically told him that they will hold diwans in jadugar kothi. But Baba Ji has started diwans at Nabha House and are residing in the house of rai bahadur sardar. Thinking about such thoughts, he  took his card and reached at house of visakha singh at 9 am.  At that time Baba Ji had finished their Nitnem and were sitting on his Asan.
...  Inder Singh  reached the asan, and as he was about to reveal his inner feeling, doubts and questions Baba Ji asked him about the task that he was ordered to complete. Inder Singh replied that he was about to do the same benti.  Baba ji blessed him and told him that today we will hold evening diwans in that kothi.  Guru Granth Sahib ji were taken to the kothi. Sangat was told that evening diwans would be held in that jadugar kothi. After hearing this people were really scared and started talking amongst themselves that a pret lives there, how will diwans be held there. Time passed.
Evening came.  Baba ji arrived at the kothi with his jatha. Baba ji matha tek to Guru Sahib, and sprayed fragrances and scent around, and started doing chaur sahib di sewa in hajoori of Guru Sahib.  Bhai Kehar Singh Head ragi started doing keertan:
Sa dharti bhai hariawali jithe mera satgur baitha jaye ||
Say jant bhae hariawle jinni mera satgur dekhya jaaye ||
After keertan, Baba Ji did Atmik Amrit Bachan.  But most people didn’t come to evening diwan because they were scared of the pret. Only few shardhvan and pooran gursikhs came. After the diwan was concluded, devotees left for their places and raagi singhs went to their nij asthans as well.  Around 12 o clock midnight many incidents happened about which Baba ji would tell next morning in diwan .
    ...stay tuned.. to be continued...

    Kai Kot Pret Sukar Mirgach
    Dehradun Jadugar Di Kothi
One time, 4-5 days before going to Dehradun , Baba Ishar Singh Ji Nanaksar Kaleran wale gave darshan to Inder Singh  at night and told him to clean the Jadugar Kothu between the two rivers, to perform kirtan diwans there. We are going to stay there, there is no need to fear.  Then baba ji disappeared after these bachans. This house belonged to a german spy who used it to hide. It was between two rivers, very strong , had many hidden passages, big veranda in front and a well nearby for drinking. Spy would hide in this place and perform his dutires.  When this spy was surrounded by police, and had no way out, he shot himself and ended up being a pret, troubling many people afterwards. Travellers who would pass in front of the house were often pelted with bricks and stones. No one would come near this place after 5 pm in evening. Govt tried to auction this place, but no one would buy it due to fear of pret.
During the partition of 1947, this place was allotted to refugees who came from Pakistan area.  Pret troubled these refugees , and even they ended up leaving the place. Since then people were very scared to come close to this place.
Next morning after he had darshan, Inder Singh went to meet Surjan Singh from Pind Galab Kalan. Inder Singh said,” Baba ji’s order is that we are supposed to clean jadugar kothi. Baba Ji is going to arrange diwans there.”Surjan Singh replied, “ There lives a pret who does not let anyone come near there. How will we enter ?” Inder Singh said, “ Baba jis order is strict. Nothing will happen, do not fear.  Whatever will happen will happen, don’t worry”.
In the next 2-3 days, they were able to clean the kothi, got it painted in white.
Baba Ji reached Dehradun.  Evening diwan happened in Nabha House. Later on Baba Ji went to Rai Bahadur Visakhas Singh house , upon humble request.  Baba Ji stayed overnight, and did Asa di war keertan at his place.
    to be continued...

These are solid reasons. It makes complete sense that Sikhism is not a big religion in Kaljug, even though first master traveled and touched lives of more people than middle eastern prophets (P.Abraham, P.Mosses, P.Jesus, P.Muhammad, etc). We should discuss these spiritual reasons in a separate topic. Let's leave this topic for historical approach.

I'm a strong believer of energies....and there is no doubt that on full moon, which is when cycle phase is complete and there are optimum distances between sun, earth and moon alignments.....that energies can be Magnified. This means both positive and negative, which is why you have evil/darkness/horror movies ..etc... associated with full moons but you can also have the opposite spiritual ascensions getting magnified......This is why one has potential to attain maximums in bhagti and meditation.
Even Buddha was born on pooranmashi and nearly all of his great advances happened on the same moon ..including his death!
My advice is to avoid negative atmospheres or confrontations because they will just make you dig more deeper, darker holes  and focus on Waheguru instead.
I've experienced these energies in many ways and not just in bhakti....so I would recommend you all to try it with utmost pyar.
On the same note, women also have monthly cycles as per moon cycles and I remember that some study found that in very natural and harmonious parts of the world, they had their fertility peaks during the few days before and after full moons. ....It's just that nowadays we use so much artificial light instead of light from sun and moon that our biorhythms are all misaligned along with other qualities.

31st July is Guru Purnima also known as Asadha Purnima. This comes only once a year. Every pooranmashi is different and has different characteristics. This is whole different study of positions of planets and constellations.
But for  a Sikh, Nirankar took form of Guru Nanak on a full moon night. Thus, every pooranmashi is highly emphasized at each Nanaksar Gurudwara. You can assign various meanings and interpretations to it. But the essence is that people spend night in the remembrance of Guru Nanak, and a collective ardas is done for people who also did a Sehaj path or equivalent in their homes. Thus, the merit of the sangat, and sampat & akhand paths is multiplied and distributed amongst the sangat who come there with devotion or faith.

Sharing a beautiful explanation by a famous indian scholar and thinker named  Vinoba Bhave .
Explaining the Meaning of 'Association'. He said:
"The rain drop from the sky, if it is caught in hands is pure enough for drinking.
If it falls in gutter, it's value drops so much that it can't be used for washing the feet.
If it falls on hot surface, it perishes.
If it falls on lotus leaf, it shines like a pearl.
And finally, if it falls on oyster, it becomes a pearl.
The drop is same, but it's existence & worth depends on with whom it associates."

    * In a similar way, the jeevas in all of us are same, but it is our association with bad, good or best, which makes the difference.
In the company of bad, we become sinners.
In the company of good, we become angels.
But, it is only in the company of Gurmukhs, Sant Janas, that  we become as good as Wahiguru, by merging in Him, thus the best.

Had a strange experience with the Gurmantar the other day which I don't recall ever happening before. For the last couple of weeks have been trying to make mental effort to get the jaap going again after getting lazy and loosing drive and determination. With Guru's grace am trying to reach the stage of saas - giras a.k.a. autopilot 24x7. When I woke up and was just sitting relaxed for a few moments I noticed that the jaap automatically started happening inside my chest region. It was like my mind was listening to a jap happening there on it's own in the background. To clarify this was not me forcing the mind to jap, but the mind could actively hear another entity japping. It was such a calming, soothing experience and the gurmantar felt so good to listen to. After a short time the gurmatar faded and I got on with the day but still some what taken back by what I had subtlety experienced even if was for a short time.
I was just reading a paper on the meditation path when I came across the following passage which seemed similar to what I may have slightly experienced.
Judging from the above lines it would seem that this may be a natural progression when japping any mantar. Maybe even the onset of Ajapa Japa.

If you get pain in your buttocks and legs, and are unable to keep a straight back , do the glute bridge exercise. It really has helped me with the stiffness of back and I am able to sit longer than previously. It provides a good stretch for back, and hip flexors. Everyday we use hip extensors especially during sitting which makes iliopsoad muscle stiff. Working the hip flexors will be a good exercise. Give it a try.

I am just looking to inspire myself and get a feel for how long can one chant for continuously. Personally, the maximum I ever did was just short of 3 hours, but maybe once or twice. I want to push myself, but it will be easier knowing what other Gursikhs are upto, so I feel motivated to do at least that much.
When we read Guru Granth Sahib, there is a lot of emphasis on physical Japa. I want to know more about it. Lets talk about practical methods instead of intellectualizing & engaging in debates.  Hindu traditions have so much emphasis on doing lakhs of Japa , but i rarely hear discussions like that amongst Sikhs. Even Guru ji says Ucharo Ram Naam Lakh Bari, Lakh Lakh Geda Aakhiye Ek Naam Jagdees.
    Lets hear your views !
    Thanks!
ps. I tried googling for the maximum time people have chanted for and achieved results, but couldn't find much, so thought I would ask SAers ;)

a good place to work towards is dasvandh of your time...so 2.5 hours of the day...
i have been working towards that amount of time...obviously some days it is difficult because tiredness and sleep take over. but that's not a bad thing...need to listen to your body and rest...so that the next time you do simran mind is refreshed and more focused.

if you're doing almost 3 hours already then i think you should not really worry about the length of time you spend doing it...but rather the quality of the simran...
i have only reached greater lengths of time in Simran when i am pulled deeper within...then time doesn't seem to come up...only when i open my eyes do i realize how much time has gone...

some days 'IK MAN' is achieved within a few minutes...other days even after 2 hours of simran my mind is all over the place...
one thing that doesn't change is the longing deep within...as long as that is there...guru ji will come calling..

I get the feeling that 3hrs or 2.5hrs(dasvand) is used as a kind of bench mark because no matter how basic or skilled someone is in simran.....>Even if the beginner on foundation level allocates the dasvand time towards simran, he/she should get at least some moments/seconds/minutes of deep -single thought connection throughout a session.
In effect, there should mostly be some moments of some real dhan kamayee, even if one was sat getting diverted into thoughts of work, bills, household chores..etc. for the most part.
This message is important because I sense that a lot of us just give up and think ''Oh,  I can't do simran,,, I can't ever settle,,,,, my life's too busy.... theres' way too much for me to sort out in my thought process,,,,etc,".
see, my suggestion would be ..".keep trying..and keep making those few hours tor at least a crack at it"
Again, this all boils down to strict self-discipline and goes along with another reason why Guruji bestows rehat.
