That instruction (for the most part) applies to people of high spiritual states. Please do not put unnecessary pressure on yourself. Many Gurbani verses apply (for the most part) to spiritually advanced people. Don't read them and get dejected, in case you feel that you are so far away from those stages (as mentioned in those Gurbani verses).
For ordinary Baptized Sikhs, the rule is to NOT have any sexual relations with a lady before marriage. Keep it simple and strive to progress spiritually.

Try taking a cold shower when you feel sexually aroused and then start reciting Gurbani loudly.

Samarbir Singh reacted to Soulfinder in Can I believe in Hindu Mythology as a Sikh?
Veer ji there is a lot of references to Hindu mythology in both Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji. So as long as you worship Waheguru and Guru Granth Sahib Ji its ok to learn about Hindu mythology as it gives a better understanding.Try to listen to katha by Damdami Taksal Mahapurshs as they mention this as well.

Interestingly the answer to the young man is in Sukhmani Sahib, first Ashtpadi...Prabh Keah Simran Jatti...Satti.....This viakhiaya has been done earlier today (22.02.2021) by Giani Jangbir Singh at Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib, Abchal Nagar...I am posting the link below (the Jaati part is at 55.33 mins)..Suggest you hear the entire series (this is the fourth instalment).
Further In Salok Seshkriti this issue has been addressed..."Hea Kaamang..Narak Bisramang Bahu Jonee Bharamvarh...(Salok Sehaskrati M 5 , Ank1358)... All Sadhu Sants have done the jaap of the Salok Seshkriti for hours..that to me is the only way to bring this under control, as per Gurbani...whether you do religious education or any education it is ONLY with the bakshish of Vahiguru that this can be brought under control...applying force to control this - while advocated by certain sects - is not the Gurmat way...Our way is ardas, and recitation of shabads ....over a period of time its intensity will reduce if you are genuinely desirous of that goal...
You can hear the entire Salok Sehaskriti katha by going to www.gurmatveechar.com>audio>katha>puratan katha>Sant Kartar Singh>click on second folder which relates to Salok Sehaskarti.. (Go to Volume 14 and at 24 mins this katha on Kaam starts)
May the Gurus Bakshish be with you..and what you are experiencing is absolutely normal...will settle with bani and ardas

If you goto Guru Nanak Data Baksh Leh Mission website. The Pre-Requisite & Qualifications required to have darshan are clearly laid out. All the best to the original poster- I will copy paste below:

Complete surrender is an essential pre-requisite, pre-condition to enter the arena of the spiritual field of Divine Love. And then opens the door, the entrance to the Supreme Mansion of the Beloved Satguru.
Father invariably proclaimed in every congregation that Sri Guru Granth Sahib was the Living Lord, that Sri Guru Nanak Sahib was realisable, attainable from within the Divine Body of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, that the blessed ones could perceive Him physically and commune with Him and that humility and Prema Bhagti was the essential pre-requisite to attain Him. Utter Humility and intense yearning and Love was his own direct and personal experience. Communion with the Supreme Lord Sri Guru Nanak Sahib can be established through Prema, through intense and earnest devotional love, through humility, through strong impulse of rock-like faith in Him, through His benign Grace and so on, but certainly not on the basis of dry intellectualis”

Wished there was an easy answer. Goto Guru Nanak Data Baksh Leh Mission. They have listed pre-requistie, qualifications requires to have darshan and the answer to your question.
Simply crying and hankering all the time “I want darshan” and posting on forums wont get you darshan. You are asking in the wrong place. You have to put work for it. No one gets a free chocolate. If you get a free chocolate, so should I and so should the entire world.

Samarbir Singh reacted to Ragmaala in Mool Mantar Jap vs Waheguru Jap
Pick one and stick to it for a minimum of 12 years. When I first started about 20 years ago , I started doing waheguru malas then I gave that up and was doing moolmantar.  these days I am trying to stick to Gurmantra. Also my rehit was lacking thats why I have not reached anywhere.
Important thing is dont jump around , stick to one and give it a good amount of time.

Brother as usual, we fail to recognize His blessings, for from Him, we receive nothing but blessings, that also countless.
It is we who have closed our eyes and our petty hands, thus we say Guru Jee bless me with this or that ..... when the truth is whatever He had to give us, He has already given us, it is just a matter of realizing them, more than enough of them
For example, first of all we are blessed with a human form in this life, which is the highest of blessings which one can receive,  for it is an open door for more blessings to be received, and in this human life, we can get out from maya by holding His strong arm.
Then, He has given us 24 hours in a day, where we can purify ourselves by reciting His holy Name within our minds with no such boundaries of space and time.
Safal is the gharee/moment, and safal is the place, when we remember Him.
Then, he has given us buddhi, to lead a truthfil life; He has given us a soul, so that we can love Him wholeheartedly....
Brother just think, what else do we need when He has already given us so much, for our spiritual realization/developement in order to atain  union with Him?
Being thankful to him at each step in life, is how we can realize how much blessed we are already.

Samarbir Singh reacted to Sikhilove in Will cheating in school hinder my Bhakti?
Don’t cheat, just study harder. Live life with integrity.

You don’t yet understand what school is and how detrimental it is to your adult life. I didn’t take school seriously. As a woman, I was brought up to think I would get married and that would be that, and school and university were not important. I ended up being physically abused, forced to leave home and fend for myself. I struggled so much with money and came across many who.saw me in a vulnerable state with not much money and were also abusive (because I was vulnerable). If I had only taken school seriously and finished my degree, things would have been millions of times easier for me, literally. How seriously you take school and work seriously, and how much money you make later on will decide what kind of life you will live. Also more money= more dasvandh.
I believed in God a lot when I was at school and thought it was worldly too, but even Guru Nanak worked and had a family that he provided for. Take your work seriously, school and work are seva, opportunities given to you by God. Make the most of them, get the highest grades you can, make the most of your opportunity and blessings that millions in third world countries do not get. Take it from someone who messed it up early on, it’s super important.

    Samarbir Jee,
We must bear in mind that He whom we love, adore and want to meet, is an embodiment of absolute Truth and moral values, so if we want to reach and see Him, we have to be as pure  and truthful right from where we are just as He is, otherwise we shall not be  able to merge in Him.
As humans we do commit mistakes, but if don't learn from them and keep repeating,  how can we expect to get His forgiveness,  isn't it?
Spirituality needs to be constructed on a solid base of being and living in truthfulness , otherwise we are sure to fall and collapse.

Samarbir Singh reacted to das in Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev jee is greater than Vishnu jee/Shiv jee/Other Deities
Okay, agreed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji was highest of the high; He is the greatest. But the real question is: Are you following Guru Ji's instructions/teachings in real sense? You're born in Sikhism and therefore its easier for you to follow Guru Ji's teachings (no resistance from society, family etc.). If you still don't follow the real core teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, then having Guru Nanak Dev Ji as greatest have NO benefit to you. Think about it.
