amardeep got a reaction from SAadmin in Power of Khalsa Women vs. Mir Mannu
Interestingly, this 'song' by the Sikh females was actually documented in Mughal sources and not in Sikh sources. i've never come across any Sikh source yet that mentions this.
God bless those strong women.

I remember reading that Banda Singh Bahadur asked the Rajput rane of Rajastan to join his Dharam Yudh during his uprising. The rajput rane decided to join the Mughals instead and fight the Sikhs and reestablish Mughal rule over Punjab.

Indeed. And the early scholars also appear to have been critical about the writings they had in their hand - Kavi Santokh Singh for instances has a short discussion on the credibility of the Bhai Bala Janamsakhi since he believes it is not to be trusted 100% .. .Western academics always assume they were the first one to be critical on Sikh writings. Rattan Singh Bhangu also likewise says some sakhis were made by SIkhs with good intentions but they are not historically correct etc...
In a discussion on apocryphal writings attributed to Guru Gobind Singh, Giani Gian Singh (though from Singh Sabha era ) writes that the elders of his community state they were written by the Guru, but he does'nt know himself whether this is true or not..

amardeep got a reaction from kdsingh80 in Number of enemy forces at the battle of Chamkaur
Okay cool, show me any Mughal source that states 250.000 of their forces were wiped out in those battles. Those numbers are quite significant so the Mughal courtiers and scribes must have written it down somewhere.

There wasn't one million Mughals. The Sri Zafarnama is written in poetry and the number 1 million is used as a rhetorical device to suggest that the Singhs were heavily outnumbered.

amardeep got a reaction from Koi in Sikh population declined by 0.2% in 2011 Indian census
The Maratha rule of Punjab lasted for less than a year. The conquest of Sirhind was done mainly by the Sikhs - Marathas came in 1-2 days after the city had fallen.

Most of those you mention there were rebels under foreign Muslim rule. Fact is Muslims dominated large parts of India for some 700-800 without any serious contender to power. During this period most Hindu rulers submitted to foreign Muslim rule. Later on the brave Marathas rebeled and were able to go from rebels to rulers. At this same time the Sikhs were kicking the Afghans out of Northern India - de facto ending 800 years of muslim rule!!
Lets not turn this into a "my dad is greater than your dad"... Lets just look at facts.

Several paintings were made of the Gurus during their lifetime - Guru Hargobind, Guru Har Rai, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh. Some of these are pasted into the Dasam Granth Anandpuri bir of 1696
