Just for the sake of argument, here it goes:
    1) Even if you use artificial methods of keeping the "stuff" within the boundaries of the skin, and prevent it from coming out, the endometrium has already sloughed off, its just being kept in there. The natural state of the body is that endometrium keeps on piling up so it can support the zygote, and then when it finds nothing it sloughs off. So once it has already sloughed off, and you are trying to conceal it with whatever methods tampons, cups or whatever...what once was part of the body is no more a part of body, the endometrial cells have separated off from the lining. They are more like urine, sweat, or excreta. So personally for me, if someone sits on Tabya, it does not look clean to me.

As for women who have reached menopause , it is not a problem for them since this process of sloughing off doesn't happen in them. Same thing with injections.

I dissected human bodies, both male and female, during my anatomy classes in medical school. The bodies and their functions don't embarass me.

[This is my personal opinion, and I am not enforcing it on anyone. Moreover, I am not female so I can't physiologically or psychologicaly relate to the process. That's why I wanted opinions of any Gursikh Females here. In the end, it truly is an individuals own responsibility. If a bibi is sitting on Tabya, I wouldn't ask her if she is menstruating or not. I think it is assumed that Bibis who do seva are mature & responisble enough to know whats best]

I agree, it is totally personal between the individual and Guru Ji. Again, I haven't seen men harassing Bibis regarding this issue. It is generally assumed that Bibian knows what is best. I haven't come across such situations.

    Dear Friends,

Let us not argue over which one is Amrit and which is not. Who are we to make such judgements. Leave it to the Gurus. I don't think we can compare Amrit in the context of gurbani and khande baate da Amrit.

After going through some posts here regarding suchamta I wanted to write something about it, especially when in close vicinity of Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. This writing will be based purely on my understanding so far. Everyone is welcome to take from it whatever they like or conforms to their understanding and reject what doesn't sit well with them. Most of my understanding is from sakhis that happened in times of Dhan Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj, Dhan Dhan Baba Ishar Singh Ji Kaleranwale and some other Nanaksar Mahapurakhs I came in touch with.

It is very important that we maintain purity when in presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This is to show utmost respect to Guru Ji and to see Guru Granth Sahib Ji as 'Pargat Guran Ki Deh'. Just wanted to mention here that throughout their lifetime, Baba Nand Singh Ji himself fed Prashada to Guru Nanak Dev Ji in partakh form. Whenever we enter into the room of Guru Ji, we are supposed to take permission to enter. This is done by saying ' Satnaam Ji'. Before entering the room our feet must be washed. Now if we are to do close seva of Guru Ji, our clothes should be clean meaning they shouldnt be worn during normal activities of the day. If someone has gone to washroom he/she shouldnt wear those clothes. Even if someone goes to sleep , he should change those clothes before doing personal seva of Guru Ji. When person sleeps , he dies temporarily and this is considered impure as per Baba Nand Singh Ji. So suchamta of clothes, of the body is important .

There is also a stricter maryada when it comes to Akhand Paths and certain Sampat Akhand Paths as conducted by Baba Nand Singh & Baba Ishar Singh Ji. Not sure how strictly it is enforced today. Pathi Singhs were to do keshi ishnaan & wear clean/pure clothes each time they went to do their raul. They were not allowed to talk about anything except Gurmat. This was the suchamta of the mind. Also , if a pathi was physically handicapped/ missing a limb he was not allowed to partake in Sampat Path as it had affect on the shakti of the path. Singhs were not allowed to look at themselves in mirrors, and were always accompanied by 2 sword carrying Singhs when they were going outside in the jungle to carry out their bodily functions.

Sampat Paths used to be done in peoples personal homes. But if the maryada was broken somehow ,it had a negative effect on the family. I think its alsmot impossible to do a sampat path with proper maryada at home. So I think sampat paths are only done in nanaksar thats by Mahapuraksh who are capable of doing it for Sarbat Da Pala.
One time a pathi singh was participating in a 28 day mahasampat akhand path. Apparently, he didnt do ishnaan when doing his raul. He ended up dying of suffocation from a fire in his room shortly after, Such is the effect of not keeping suchamta during a MahaSampat Path.

Baba Nand SIngh JI were strict on keeping suchamta/respect in presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib JI. He wouldnt allow Pathi SInghs to change the rhythm of the path, it was to be kept in the same rhythm throughout 48 hours, they were not allowed to lean on the bed of Guru Ji and neither to raise their knees in front of Guru Ji. No bodily air was to be let out in presence of Guru Ji. They were asked to step out so.

To summarize, utmost care should be taken when it comes to physical body purity/suchamta when performing sewa of Guru Ji. This includes ishnaan, keshi ishnaan, clean/pure clothes during sewa. So this is the physical aspect of purity. This is one of many angs of Bhagti. Obviously maintaining outer purity alone without keeping the mental rehit will become useless and a cause of haumai. So this has to go hand in hand with other angs of bhagti such as shradha, prema, love , devotion, etc.

So, the purpose of this post was that physical purity/suchamta indeed is important when doing sewa of Guru Ji. And it depends on the individual level, how far can that person go to please Guru Ji. If one of the greatest Mahapurash emphasized suchamta then there must be some weight to it.

Thus, open minded individuals will take whatever they want from this post.

On a side note, I wanted to comment on something. This is purely my thoughts/imagination/views.
The waste is inside us. There is waste in ears, eyes, mouth, and other orifices. The bones, marrow and whats inside the intestines is dirt and waste. Physically we can never be pure. We are sweating all the time. There is waste in our nose. When Jeev leaves the physical body rots and smells. There is urine being made inside the kidneys and store in bladder. Our Skin cells are shedding and the lining of the endometrium sheds every 28 days for some human beings. If we go to minute details , our mind cannot handle it grasp it and will go mad.

But given all that, all the above I said, as long as our bodily functions are maintained and contained within the physical boundaries of our bodies which is set by our skin, we should feel okay in maintaining some suchamta/purity of this body. So we should take care that our bodily fluids and bodily air is not leaking outside the boundaries of skin. And this could either be urine, post processed food, or visble red cells and lining of the endometrium.

    ______________________________________

Usually I refrain from commenting about female activities esp when it comes to their bodily functions.
But my mother never did sewa of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during certain times when I was a kid. She forced me to do Sukhasana, at that time I didnt know why, but later on understood it. This was a conscious decision on her part. So this is a decision best left to them.

Sorry for the long and broken thoughts. But had to write about it.

Hopefully some Guriskh Females can give their input about this, so it doesnt look like that Sikhi is being controlled by men. Are there none on this forum? lol

    Fateh!

Best of luck bhaji, may God bless you and your family. Raab tuhade sir te hath rakh ke tuhade too path karvave.

Let me request you the following that I've learnt personally. I'm NOT suggesting you anything. Just merely stating what have been instructed by many Sants and Mahatamas.
Do Mool-mantar till "Nanak Hose Bhe Sach". Try doing 6 malas everyday of 108 beads for One Full Year. It will roughly be 236520. Do NOT miss a day. Nice to have: Would be great if you could do it, otherwise it's okay.
If possible, make sure that you do your mala each day on the same time and same place. If possible, use the mala 108 + 1 (Meru bead: It is the quiding bead, the one that marks the beginning and end of the mala.) beads. The following is NOT suggested by Sant (I haven't heard), but based upon the facts that these malas were extensively used in the past and special significance of wool in energy.
If possible, use the mala made of white wool.

Thanks for sharing your experience lucky veer ji. Such experiences of others which wont be found in any katha, book or online helps in reaffirming the faith in this Sikhi for me. It really feels good to know about such things. Indirectly, you help in reaffirming my faith. So thanks for that. And above all thanks to Guru Ji :)Unfortunately, I have nothing to share in spiritual terms. I have collected such filth from previous and this lifetime that I am unable to see the other dimension. Even though I have had no spiritual experience, I am glad that Guru Ji has given me the opportunity and Sumat to see whats wrong whats right and what path to follow. So hopefully Guru Ji does kirpa on this keera soon and bless with more naam and baani.

From another thread, not so long ago.....in reference to a translation from a video.

Lately, because it's so hot.. we have the overhead fans on in every room about 18 hrs/day !
I have repeatedly gone from room to room and I can feel the 'waheguru' jap coming from the fan in complete sync with body rom rom !
The crazy thing is that for a few days I was just walking around room to room and changing the speeds on the fans to see if my rom rom reaction still stayed in sync.... and it would do so immediately !
Again, I was getting a little concerned because I thought that I have developed some 'oversensitivity' problem..!
I have been constantly telling myself that it's not rom rom and that i have messed up my own brain wires of sensory stimulation somewhere.
So, i was quite relieved when I heard this video the other day and then re-reading Sat's translation convinced me that I heard it correctly the first time.

Just a few days ago, I was even telling my wife and asking her if she could feel it ....I was asking her to really try hard to see if she could pick it up..... but she just gave me a weird look thinking that I'm losing the plot !

I can even feel it coming from the pump in the fish tank... but I never told her that bit !!

In addition to this, I must say that there are days when I can feel the jap in every continuous sort of vibration that I pick up.
Whether it's an overhead fan, the birds, waves on the beach or in the car.... what happens is that as soon as my mind says 'waheguru', then the navel area vibration starts immediately and in sync with whatever vibration there may be.
A few weeks ago, we were at the aquarium and it even happened with the dolphin sounds !

I do have to check and confirm with a gurmukh that ''I'm all there!" on this account and if others experience it as well.
Because I know Bhai Sewa Singh ji mentions it in the video but I don't think he says anything about the navel, nadis or chakras vibrating.

The vibration and internal jap also starts whenever or wherever there is 'Waheguru' jap and it begins at the navel and if I follow it, I can feel it going all the way up from there to my head and in smaller nadis in arms and hands.
Recently in this heat, I have been having a little nap during the day and I will put this waheguru jap CD on that goes up in various increasing tempo. After starting rom rom, within a few minutes I often doze off for 20-25 minutes or so.

The other day I was having one of these little naps with the jap playing and as it was so hot, my shirt buttons were open as I lay on the bed and you could see my stomach quite clearly...
During a stage when I was deeply dozed off, my wife came into the room and saw that my navel was pulsating up and down with the jap and separate from my breathing altogether !!
She later told me that she stood there and was amazed because it was going at the exact frequency and in sync with the jap on the CD.
She said she confirmed that I was very deep asleep and decided to not disturb me or switch the stereo off, and just let me be.
We both could not believe that this rom rom was in full swing whilst I was fast asleep !!

It's funny because I've been trying to explain it to her for a while and have kept asking if she feels any sort of thing and I know she's thought I'm being very strange. But after that incident, she understands the whole issue a lot better.

It made me realise just how simran can literally happen whilst asleep as gurbani mentions.

Of what i have heard many suggest Dasam Baani to be read around noon timings giving logic that it being Bir Ras Baani..what i personally feel is ..when you do the baani the few times you will feel the energy flow inside you at a certain time. This should be taken as the appropriate time for you.

The sun gazing reminds me about something. I lived on a carribbean island for 2 years. So watching the sunset was often a beautiful experience. I would go out for a walk , find a rock to sit on, and coordinate my rehraas sahib with the sung going down. It was beautiful experience when I think about it. The beauty of the sky, the sun, chirping of birds and moist air added to the experience. And I loved the symbolism of the sunset too.

I tried to meditate with the waves of ocean, the sounds and wavy nature. But that often gave me nausea , sea sickness, so didnt have much success with that.

Another element that I used at some points was the full moon. I imagined my body receiving the moonrays at night, cooling experience. Witnessing a moonrise/moonset in ocean is a beautiful element in itself. Also, the full moon reminds me of Poranmashi, the avtar of Guru Nanak Ji.

Its amazing when we can use elements of nature into our practice.

i sit on the Sofa, i put an extra pillow behind me to help keep my back straight...other than that i am completely relaxed.
I have had more progress by just sitting comfortably rather than in any single asan...

occasionally my back has started to hurt, and i have just laid down and carried on with Simran and enjoyed just as much

I recently discovered in the sikhi path or stage of enquiry of who am I or path of knowledge, spontenous awakening you don't need to sit in asan or look for perfection of asan... All it requires is asan of mind which is silence and empty/quiet mind.

The most time I spent in one position without moving must have been 1.5 hrs... and it was with the military at a very important parade for remembrance. I was chosen to be a sentry at the cenotaph. That requires bowed head, and rifle resting on boot and your hands crossed over the butt (of the rifle) and not moving once in that position for the entire time. The parade was a blur actually... I think I kind of was in meditation - thats the only way I can explain how I made it through. It was also very hot outside that day and sun beating down. Some very strange recollection of time that day actually... it was like I said about 1.5 hrs but felt like only 15 mins. (felt it the next day though lol)

my two cents on this subject..

i feel i have had many OBE's...not a single one when meditating during the Day..... always at amrit Vela...
my first one actually occured on the very first day i did Amrit Vela (before then i meditated during the day)

unlike others i dont think i have wondered around, and seen my own body etc etc...i have always been pulled to 'somewhere else' sometimes by the sound of a loud bell.

my advice..and this is only my opinion...
I have never wanted nor do i still want an OBE...i don;t seek it, nor do i ask for one...
i go into mediaition with Gurmanter with sole aim of feeling at one with Waheguru...whatever happens/doesnt happen..is fine by me...just surrender to the all pervading power that is

everything that needs to occur, that will occur or will happen, will manifest on its own accord...

otherwise in my opinion one can get dragged into just shifting desires, ego, wants, needs, attention from this world to another...and we can easily lose track of our objectives...

but this is just me opinion

google Astral Sex, and you'll find forums of hundreds of people trying to induce Astral travel for the sole aim of having sex in a different realm/world...talk about just taking your problems with you!

Hi Satkirin, Lucky ji....good to see you on this Forum

i also agree with Satkirin, i don't think we/consciousness leave anywhere...i think we are also just shifting awareness to a different point...like having a sheet of paper with several holes in it...and just peeping through a different hole...

firstly i don;t think we should give too much details of individual experiences..i have found that this can cause problems because we start to want , expect those experiences...this causes frustration, desire, etc etc... i really honestly feel it is about surrendering and letting things happen naturally....just my opinion..

from my experience...when you are going deep into mediation, in a very relaxed state, you will become aware of your subtle body in many ways...it kinda energises

Quantum theory sometimes talks about the 4th dimension..

we live in a 3 dimensional world....our physical body is aware of 3 dimensions...it can move back and forth, left and right (2 dimensions), and also up and down (3rd dimension)...

imagine though if your subtle body can be part of those same 3 dimensions, and also a fourth dimension...
so now, when you become aware of your subtle body during meditation..BOOOOM, you are now also aware of the fourth dimension..so now your consciousness is moving about in the usual 3 dimensional space, but now also in 4th dimensional space...a whole new world!

i am only using the 4th dimensional analogy as an example of how it has FELT for me during my Simran...if my attention goes deep and becomes aware of the subtle body then the 4th dimension is accessable...as i come out of deep meditation, and my awareness shifts back to my physical body, the 3 dimensions are only accessable.

thats how i've tried to understand what happens...i could be completely wrong..but the thing is who cares...just enjoy the ride

This is extremely common and IS associated with an OBE. There are several types of OBEs... Etheric projection is the typical floating over your body and seeing the physical surroundings and astral projection is more dreamlike and mystical.. the surroundings in astral projection may not be exactly like physical surroundings and more dreamlike. Either way, the heavy feeling, unable to move like you are stuck in glue etc is very very common. It's like you are not totally disconnected from the physical so you are trying to control your subtle body and the message gets mixed between your physical body which is in a paralysis state and your subtle body... so it doesn't quite work. When you think of it all of reality is really vibration in a medium and the different levels are just different frequencies... I think of like a radio dial as I mentioned before... we are always receiving ALL transmissions, but we only tune into one 'station' at a time. In this case you are stuck somewhere on the dial between two stations, where you can hear a bit from both stations at once. That's the best way I can explain it if it makes sense... it does to me. In reality I believe nothing actually 'leaves' the body... you are just shifting awareness away from the physical to your subtle body which always exists anyway, its just that you are always tuned into the physical.

~~Deep Gnosis behind Mahavak in Gurbani~   Source: Taken from commentary of japji sahib teeka by sant gyani gurbachan singh bhindranwale     We all heard about term 'mahavaak' during katha discourses of gurbani in sikh tradition many times. But ever wondered deep gnosis meaning behind the term mahavaak? This small write up is invitation for sikhs (spiritual seekers/learner) to explore deep meanings of mahavak in gurbani so gnosis of mahavak in gurbani be understood and contemplated upon and applied in sikh spiritual quest.   In traditional gurmat, mahavaak in gurbani in form of verse, term, mantra or couplet within gurbani means - 'direct knowledge about unity between soul and supreme soul-vahiguru'.   Satguru has given apar kirpa(grace) to whole humanity by providing such direct knowledge about unity between soul and supreme soul which meant to be contemplated by seeker who wishes to know truth or their real self..   Sant gyani gurbachan singh khalsa bhindranwale writes in japji sahib teek (pdf page-510) to reiterate importance of gurbani revelation and mahavaks-direct knowledge of unity of soul and supreme soul-vahiguru.   Whilst vedas have four main mahavak (direct knowledge of unity between soul and supreme soul). Revelation of gurbani/Gurbani provides countless mahavaks. Sant ji provides examples from gurbani.   1. Satguru nanak dev ji gave updesh to advance seeker/learner(sikh). Here satguru gives direct knowledge of unity between soul and supreme soul in this mahavak- Tu sada salamat nirankar. Satguru repeats this mahavak four times in Panch parvan, Asankh jaap, Asankh Morakh, Asankh Nav couplets in japji sahib.   Commentary of tu sada salamat nirankar(japji sahib teek pdf page- 483):   Question was asked by spiritual seeker (sikh) to satguru nanak dev ji what is my saroop? or my identity? Satguru nanak dev ji responds:   Tu (Individual real self-soul) Sada Salamat (Supreme soul-Vahiguroo)   Nirankar: Both are nirankar.   2. Nirgun sargun apaie Soi (Ang- 129)   3. Nirgun Aaap Sargun Bhi Ohi (Ang- 297)   Sant ji further explains bachans which has sargun and nirgun knowledge of vahiguroo or unity shabads, those are all mahavaks and should be perceived it as such by advance seeker. Advance seeker and seeker who posses such estoeric attributes- requires only small indication (dristan-example).   -- Unity of individual soul and supreme soul also written in rest of gurbani. For example-   ਆਤਮਾ ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਏਕੋ ਕਰੈ ॥ आतमा परातमा एको करै ॥ Āṯmā parāṯamā eko karai. His soul and the Supreme Soul become one.   ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਰੈ ॥੧॥ अंतर की दुबिधा अंतरि मरै ॥१॥ Anṯar kī ḏubiḏẖā anṯar marai. ||1|| The duality of the inner mind is overcome. Āṯme no āṯme ḏī parṯīṯ ho▫e ṯā gẖar hī parcẖā pā▫e. If the individual soul has faith in the Supreme Soul, then it shall obtain realization within its own home.     Also bachan by sri guru gobind singh ji in sri dasam granth sahib- gyan parbodh:   ਚਰਿਓ ਆਤਮਾ ਪਰਾਤਮਾ ਸੰਗ ॥ ਉਤਭੁਜ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਬਿਗਤ ਅਭੰਗ ॥ उचरिओ आतमा परातमा संग ॥ उतभुज सरूप अबिगत अभंग ॥ The soul said to the Higher Soul; the Germinating Entity, Unmanifested and Invincible; What is this Soul Entity? My personal belief is that to understand Dasam Granth one needs to be in the highest state of mind where duality has been destroyed. Bani is above the three gunas of rajo, tamo, sato. Only by being in Sehaj state, one can truly understand it. Once the Sikh has the vision that is desribed in Akal Ustat Ji, one will get more clarity. We should get the basics right first, as described by Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj then we will receive the kirpa to read and understand Banis of Dhan Sri Dasam Pita Ji.

Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Ji Maharaj, please shower your blessings and grace. I am nothing. Please grant me shakti so that I can be able to follow your basic instructions.

Dhan Dhan Pita Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.!!!!!

Ok I see where you are at. You seem quite learned to me.

We are looking at different traditions here. They do have similarities and we might think they are the same. But these kinds of differences pop up and you don't know what to make of them.

First just realize they are different.
The tradition of Guru Granth Sahib is about worshipping Ram/Hari/Krishna. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗਹੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥ This is the Vaishnu tradition. Guru Nanak Dev ji says in Asa Di Vaar "Ek Krishanam sarab deva, deva deva ta Atma"

Now in Dasam Granth there is a different tradition of worshipping Mahakal and Shakti. These are Shaiv and Shakat traditions respectively. That's why there are ballads of Chandi, and in Bachittar Natak talks about "Mahadev devam, Mahakal kalam".

Mahadev and Mahakal, and Chandi/Durga never appear in Guru Granth Sahib. If they do, you are told not to worship them like in Bhagat Namdev ji's shabad.
In Dasam Granth they do appear again and again, and you are told not to worship Ram/Hari/Krishna (and even Ganesh "Main na Ganesh prithm dhiaoon").

    lol

If you were a Sikh of Guru Nanak Dev ji's time all the way to Guru Tegh Bahadur ji, you would just worship Ram/Hari/Krishna and it would be quite simple.

But if you are Sikh who comes during or after Guru Gobind Singh ji's time...now it's starting to get complicated. You see sikhs who belong to different traditions coming together under Guru Gobind Singh ji. And they hold different beliefs. Some sikhs worship Ram/Hari/Krishna like they used to, some worship Lakshmi/Maya, some worship Chandi/Durga, some worship Sadashiv or Mahakal, etc.

In modern times, sometimes, they interpret all these traditions as one tradition. Where all these are forms of the same Divine Being.

And I am sure you know of sikhs who will reject all the forms and just pray to the Formless. Even that's a form of the same Divine Being.

So what does this all this come down to?

In the end just go with your heart.

Whichever God/Goddess you like more, whichever form of Akal Purakh you are most attracted to, just worship that form. In the end, it's all about the relationship you build.
