In order to understand dasam granth one's back of head should be permanently soldered in tat gyan of jaap sahib  and akaal ustat before one start connecting to rest of sri dasam guru granth.

Because satkiran keeping a beard for a woman is not rehit. You may think it is but others think it's out right stupid. Our Punjabi women are meant to be beautiful, their looks their attitude, not looking like a bloke who can kitch ten pints more than me.

The Singh sabha movement made many original Sikhs no longer feel accepted, as they would have to take amrit or keep kesh to be defined as a Sikh. Many didn't but followed the house of Nanak.

Could you please go a bit further in explaining the last comment please "kurehits in asthaan", like what exactly?

Very rightly said by SikhKhoj bro...but remember one thing while there are many who do nishkam seva there are many who fight for golaks and jatvaadi mentality ..those are very visible in the Pinds openly...Sikhi might be a helping face elsewhere but in the Pinds ..the ravidassi and mazhbi brothers are being tormented and they are moving out.

I am a monna/sehajdhari and am strongly against caste hierarchy....i have high regards for dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar...i am more comfortable with my dalit brothers than others from the so called higher castes ..i cant figure out what difference does it make in my perspective towards caste whether i am monna or a singh.
I have seen more castieist attitude amongst Singhss who talk big ...will give respect to a khan than to a mazhbi.

Christians see (Nepal) disasters as an opportunity to spread gospel of Jesus Christ.
Muslims see weak people and opress & convert them.
We see the poor and do nishkam seva without asking them to convert, and instead of opressing the weak, we defend them as taught by our Gurus.
This might work against us in demographics but in characters all these religions look weak in front of Sikhi.

Nobody on this thread even mentioned DDT or GRM. You need to stop blaming them for everything (kind of like the Indian government blames Pakistan for just about everything). If it rains tomorrow, is that also the fault of DDT/GRM? C'mon Satkiran, you're way better than that.
I think when it comes specifically to tattoos, we should take it from the spirit of Gurbani. As such, I'm sure it is apparent that these are not necessary. But hey, I ain't judging!

well... my question really is... ''If you were out with your wife and waiting outside as your wife has just gone into a public washroom.....then a few seconds later your saw this bearded harnaam kaur enter .. and not knowing if she is a woman or not.....I'm sure you would be concerned!
I've got nothing to say on this attention seeker of a person who is clearly using sikhi as a secondary basis for excuses and acceptance.........I believe she became Sikh after she had spent years of using hair removal products...She chose to become a Sikh and parade herself.. giving the impression she is abiding by Sikh rehat...... Then, I'm sure, she has broken her amrit and gone and done tattoos and shit.....so lets not give her anymore attention.

The other day I went to the guru ghar to do some seva. I was cutting up veg(as chefs do) and this freshie joined me. We got talking while doing langhar seva and he said tera caste ki. Quite frankly I was shocked, never have I been asked in the guru ghar what caste I belong to. I assumed he was a jatt, turns out I was right.

It got me thinking though are our people that fixTed on caste? Why does it matter so much to some people?

    Good morning DS,
One persons heer could be another's person nightmare.
Saying that I have to profess that she really does look like a transgender male( & not a pretty one).
We have many closet homosexuals in the panth, thats not a problem the problem id the peados and the gay molestors. what I am worried about are the ones who have access to kids ie tabla classes, Punjabi classesclasses.

Reading the article and looking at her picture I come to the conclusion she is confused. If she really felt strongly about not changing her appearance ie the beard who is she kidding that the tats and piercings etc is allowed?

jaikaara reacted to Ragmaala in Baba Nand Singh Ji And The Pooranmashi Abhyaas Viddhi
Since pooranmaashi is 21st Nov, so you must be up at 20th Nov 11:59 PM ( or prior) until morning 21st Nov,
The Avtar purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is 21st Nov, 12:21 A.M.

These are my remnants of memory from maybe 10 years ago. People would start gathering around Rehraas Sahib time ( the evening prior), and sit in evening diwans...it was like a rehansabhai...various keertani jathas came from all over world, so bascially it was katha keertan veechar all night. Then every pooranmashi people were given dargahi parshad ( 250 japji sahibs, 50 sukhmanis, 80 mala waheguru mantar/ day, 6 mala/day moolmantar, 1 sehaj path of Sri Guru granth Sahib ji, to be completed in one month).

At the main Jagraon Nanaksar, there was also a maryada of doing Ishnaan on Sarovar. Now I dont remember what time it was done before or after 12:21 AM, these details are murky. As far as I rememeber first it was waited for someone to do ishanan in sarovar...I am not sure who were the beings doing Ishana... my best bet is Guru Nanak Dev ji himself and the celestial beings that followed him ...after that then baba ji ( Baba Nand Singh Ji, or Baba Ishar Singh ji or majoooda mahapurash now on)would take ishanan in sarovar. Then after Baba ji sangat was allowed to have ishnan.

I also remember patake or fireworks being done around 12:21 Am timing. You dont realize the importance once you are far from it. Those were the days. Right now where I live there is no amrtidhari Gursikh, no sadhsangat and no gurudwara. But the scenic beauty is nice ,the vast atlantic ocean and the skies are pollution free, and the moon is the brightest you can possibly imagine. so I will be celebrating all by myself .

I think it's a great idea. But the distance that's between the sangat makes it little bit difficult.
I think if we can use this forum as our attendance sheet ,then it may be a better option.I think we can fix days ,then we can fix the time like 2am to 4 am(acc to our own locations),then we can do simran ourselves. Then we can put our entry here like yes I did it.I had these queries. These questions were there.I experienced this or that.I faced these difficulities. How I spent these very hours. So I think then we can have a very significant discussion. In this way ,we will be much oriented towards our goal. This will create a very inspirational environment.Little bit competitive too.Means we will feel like I gotta do this .
We can fix schedule and further plans.
    Gur fateh!!

Thanks for the nomination Jaikaara but this is not something I'm comfortable doing.
Sharing experiences and knowledge (right or wrong) is one thing. Leading a sangat session is taking it to the next level for which I'm definitely not qualified. There are already slow simran broadcasts every friday on mysimran.info youtube channel if you want to follow those. Previous sessions are also up there.
Each of us does simran differently and at different paces and rhythm. Someone during their jaap might speed up which could cause others issues if they tried to match the pace. Leading a sangat group comes with responsibility of knowing what your doing and being able to guide should someone have an experience either positive or negative.
    Humbly accept my apologies.

Absolutely disgusting that gurdwaras in canada are being allowed to put poster of this street level mob terrorist in canadian gurdwaras, this is classic example of playing right in hands of GOI as these terrorist backdrop were raw regardless of them being aware or not... as i still maintain GOI raw spies-were backdrop in form of violent sikh individuals supporting these two individuals who were responsible for air india bombing by hiring these two fascist street level mob terrorist in garb of sikh bana- parmar and reyat ..it was agreed both by judge, defence and crown in canada that parmar was behind air india bombings.
Well done to our incompetent leaders by playing right in hands of GOI, its best interest for GOI that sikh gurdwaras glorify these murders so that our community looks like extremist..our sensible approach as community would have been isolated and nail these violent extremist/terrorist to the wall of shame, condemn their actions without any reservations, unequivocally.

I came back from india in January and have been going and actually asked the Khalistan question. Many people said that anybody running any sort of government in Punjab or Khalistan would be crooks so in reality they don't care much for Khalistan etc. Only the dumala wearing youths in Punjab which are a few want Khalistan but they are still young and naive.

99% of the sikh population in Punjab don't want an independent state. If they don't want it why do the people in the west want it?

I have heard sakhis of guru tegh bahadur Ji maharaj going out for shikaar with his sikh soldiers.
We have to look at it this way that sikhi from guru Nanak dev Ji maharajs time has been martial. Look at the bani of guru Ji and it challenges authority of the Mughals and Hindu Brahmins that nobody dared to do. Then we also know that guru Ji carried a tulwar, barsha and had a chakar on their head(these relics can be seen at takhat Patna sahib). So they dressed in nihang like attire. The second guru opened up wrestling akharas for health and fitness. The fifth guru became a martyr which shows warrior like qualities. I also heard some sakhis that the 5th guru also went to do shikaar with Sikhs. Then we know about the 6th, 7th, and 10th guru keeping armies and doing battles. So why wouldn't the 8th and 9th guru keep an army? A lot of the smarmy of the 6th guru was not mercenaries. It was Sikhs of the guru. For example in the battle of bhagani pir bhudu shah gave mercenaries to guru sahib but they joined with bhim chand. So who fought then? Not the udasi's cause all of them ran away except for Kirpal udasi. It was the Sikhs who fought. The Sikhs after the 6th guru were indeed martial. We also know that the 9th guru carried shastars. Most likely the 8th guru also carried shastars.

    Just my two cents.

Actually I see the opposite. In india there is a pyaar that I have seen between both groups. Not to sure about how they like each other in mahrashtra but in Punjab they like each other etc. The dasam Granth paath bodh samagam was done by the help of both nihangs and taksalis.

Tell you the truth I don't give a shit about Khalistan or a sikh state etc. It's not going to be more bhagti oriented if we have a place of our own. The gurus never cared for their own kingdoms. After the battle of bhagani guru Ji could have taken so much land and called it his own territory but he didn't. This notion like we deserve a homeland is bullshit. Even if we get a sikh state it will still be run by shitheads like badal or others like him. Until we be pure then there is no point of a sikh state. Once somebody become fully pure then a sikh state does not matter anymore cause they are one with god. The only sikh state is the one where god resides permanently and we have to strive for it.

Also nobody (except for a few crazies)from the west would move to Khalistan cause they don't want to give up their luxuries such as shitting in a toilet instead of shitting in the ground or eating pizza and getting fat  or driving fast cars etc.
    sorry for my language.
