In order to uphold sikh woman equality, and empowerment to sikh women saints, bring awareness of unsung sikh woman parcharikhs and saints, I am compiling this thread with lot more information on sikh woman saints/parcharikhs of 20th-21st century.

I wanted to start this topic for a long time finally got chance to finally get around it. It's well know fact there were manji system (centers establishment where gursikhs were chosen to do parchar) was started by Guru Amar das ji, they were 22 manjiya intially strategically placed everywhere in india to do parchar. Here is the list of manjiya http://www.sikhiwiki...hp/Manji_System and there were manjiya given to sikh woman as well to do parchar to other woman and give them empowerment.

So i thought start this thread dedicated to sikh female parcharikhs/sants..hope others can contribute as well.. It's hard to find sikh woman parchariks/saints but if one looks carefully one can find it. This is much needed at this time and age as we believe in equality for sikh women and empowerment to sikh woman.

Modern day great sikh woman parcharikhs and saints:

    1. Bibi Santosh Kaur (blessed by sant maharaj baba isher singh ji rara sahib himself to do parchar)

    2. Sant ranjit kaur ji (wife of sachkhand vasi sant waryam singh ji )

The Guru of Baba Bullay Shah was planting Onions as Baba Bullay Shah approached his guru and asked the question, "How do I Find God?" Their Guru said with ease as he plucked the root of an onion out of the soil and planted it in the other field... "Bullia Rub tha ke Lubhna, Aeithro Putna, Aeither Launa". Uproot your thoughts from the world and plant them in God.

When a Deciple is Worthy, the Master himself comes to seek the Deciple.

A Sant started to scream and yell for help as he was in need for assitance. Few minutes passed by and a crowd had gathered around this Saint as he was continually asking for help.., "save me" he said, over and over again. The crowd looked at him in astonishment as he was glued to a tree hugging it as if it was running away or as others were coming to take it away from him. The saint continued to ask for help, to be saved from the tree. The Onlookes looked puzzled as the Saint himself was hugging the tree yet asking to be saved from it. After few moments had gone by, one man came forward and asked the sant, "what are you doing? You yourself are Hugging the tree yet asking to be Saved?? Simply let go...release your grip of the tree and you will be freed". The Saint release his grip and looked in the faces of the crowd and said, This is exactly your situation, you want to be freed from this world/maya yet you yourself are holding on to it. Simply Let GO.

my two cents on this subject..

i feel i have had many OBE's...not a single one when meditating during the Day..... always at amrit Vela...
my first one actually occured on the very first day i did Amrit Vela (before then i meditated during the day)

unlike others i dont think i have wondered around, and seen my own body etc etc...i have always been pulled to 'somewhere else' sometimes by the sound of a loud bell.

my advice..and this is only my opinion...
I have never wanted nor do i still want an OBE...i don;t seek it, nor do i ask for one...
i go into mediaition with Gurmanter with sole aim of feeling at one with Waheguru...whatever happens/doesnt happen..is fine by me...just surrender to the all pervading power that is

everything that needs to occur, that will occur or will happen, will manifest on its own accord...

otherwise in my opinion one can get dragged into just shifting desires, ego, wants, needs, attention from this world to another...and we can easily lose track of our objectives...

but this is just me opinion

google Astral Sex, and you'll find forums of hundreds of people trying to induce Astral travel for the sole aim of having sex in a different realm/world...talk about just taking your problems with you!

Hi Satkirin, Lucky ji....good to see you on this Forum

i also agree with Satkirin, i don't think we/consciousness leave anywhere...i think we are also just shifting awareness to a different point...like having a sheet of paper with several holes in it...and just peeping through a different hole...

This is extremely common and IS associated with an OBE. There are several types of OBEs... Etheric projection is the typical floating over your body and seeing the physical surroundings and astral projection is more dreamlike and mystical.. the surroundings in astral projection may not be exactly like physical surroundings and more dreamlike. Either way, the heavy feeling, unable to move like you are stuck in glue etc is very very common. It's like you are not totally disconnected from the physical so you are trying to control your subtle body and the message gets mixed between your physical body which is in a paralysis state and your subtle body... so it doesn't quite work. When you think of it all of reality is really vibration in a medium and the different levels are just different frequencies... I think of like a radio dial as I mentioned before... we are always receiving ALL transmissions, but we only tune into one 'station' at a time. In this case you are stuck somewhere on the dial between two stations, where you can hear a bit from both stations at once. That's the best way I can explain it if it makes sense... it does to me. In reality I believe nothing actually 'leaves' the body... you are just shifting awareness away from the physical to your subtle body which always exists anyway, its just that you are always tuned into the physical.

I've spoken with Gyani Takhur Singh ji about this.

    Here's the maryada:

Make bhog and do ardass at the start.
While doing the jaap sit on a white sheet wearing white clothes. Have water in a container near you and have a quoi (ghee) jot lit. After doing your jaap for the day splash chitey from the water around your paath room (it's good somehow, not sure if it's a necessary part of maryada) and then drink the water.
At the end make bhog and do ardass.

Here's the numbers for each day:

    Gurmantr jap 108 mala
    Mool mantr 32 mala
Chachree chand, Tav Prasaad mantr 32 mala
    Sukhmani Sahib 5 paaths
    Japji Sahib 25 paaths.

This takes 40 days to complete. All of the above are equivalent.

When that kedarnath disaster happened in june 2013 in india.. Few months before Guru gobind singh ji gave him darshan in dreams. He told he was lying in the lap of guru ji at hemkunt sahib gurudwara and mountains were falling and ppl were running. When he woke up he found the dream quite strange but when in july this disaster actually took place he was there in hemkund sahib n all this happened. And u r saying that sat ji k maya takes form of gurus or jesus. No this is not true. waheguru has three forms sargun, nirgun and shabad roop. Whenever he has to incarnate himself on earth he takes the sargun form smtyms in roop of awatars, smtyms gurus or smtyms mahapurakhs. There is no difference between waheguru and his saints(enlightened beings). When there is mahaparlo then there is just nirgun waheguru he waheguru everywhere. Even now he is there. But we can have his darshan in saints like sant isher singh ji rara sahib And many more. I'M not kamaayi vali like u satji but i had and have sangat of pooran purushs who told us sooooo much. and made us experience soo much. im getting motivated from u too to do kamayi

Nice experiences !! Still there are soo many naam jappan valiya roohan. Mr. sat have u ever had darshans of gurus and mahapurakhs in dreams or reality. Because i have heard those who do lots of kamaayi waheguru starts giving him/her darshan in sargun form first after that nirgun stage comes. I know a guy from nanaksar samprada he is having darshan of gurus, krishan ji,ram ji,and various sikh as well as mahapurakhs from other faith. He told that he has often times darshan of baba nand singh ji and soo many other mahapurakhs of our faith as well as other. I asked him what about pratakh darshan and he told thats wat he is waiting for but babaji guides him in dreams, answers his queries about this sadhna marg in dreams. His awastha is on bhawar guffa. The dark void kind whole you are talking about is bhawar guffa. And other surprising thing is that he has now recalling his previous lives. N This detachment thing is happening with him also. He doesn't feel love and attachment for her family as well as other Near and dear ones. He said whom should i consider my real parents . Ma n pa of this birth,or of previous birth or even previous to previous one. Read the literature of SWAMI SIVANANDA SARASWATI. He has written alott about self realisation marag and experiences we come across during this marag in a very simple manner.

Some tips on doing meditation :
The mind has a natural ability to be quiet. When it becomes quiet, you are in touch with your genius. Albert Einstein said the ideas that led him to the theory of relativity came during moments of quiet reflection.
Mozart heard sonatas and symphonies resonating through the silent reaches of his mind. All he had to do was write them down. We know that Isaac Newton came up with laws of motion and gravity while relaxing under an apple tree. Whether he actually got hit in the head by that apple or not, no one knows, but there is no doubt that his quiet mind yielded a treasure of knowledge. We could cite more examples, but you get the point.

Silent mind has great creativity. But this is not all. Silent mind is peaceful, blissful and healthy, and radiates these qualities out through the person to the surroundings.

People who know how to cultivate quiet mind not only are in touch with their inner creativity, they also radiate a youthfulness and optimism that effects everyone nearby. They have "good vibrations."

Our consciousness (awareness -- is the observer), and the objective world (the observed). The essential nature of our consciousness is blissful silence. It is what is behind the mind, what is experienced when the mind becomes still. It is an infinite storehouse of the qualities just mentioned, the realm of what we know as God, always right here within ourselves.

This is why it is proclaimed in the Psalms, "Be still and know I am God." To access the divine all we have to do is know how to be still.

Meditation is the process of systematically allowing the mind to become still for specific periods of time each day.

In doing this daily over weeks, months and years, quietness, consciousness, gradually becomes more evident when the mind is active while we are not meditating, and worldly life is enriched. Through meditation, the relationship between consciousness and the world gradually changes. This is a process of yoga, the joining. It is the first step.

Once blissful silence is coming on in daily experience, many other things can be done to enhance and expand it. But first we have to establish a base in consciousness, awaken the silent inner seed of who we are, so to speak.

Our mind has a natural ability to become quiet. In the deep meditation, we will harness that natural ability.

The idea behind doing correct meditation, is to make us aware of how to utilize the gifts one has already. If we apply what we learn, and keep at it, one day we will know that one is a perpetual bliss machine, capable of experience far beyond the imaginings of the mind.

    Oh yes, we really are.

    Meditation is the first step.

Thoughts are coming up in the mind from the minute we wake up in the morning until the minute we fall asleep at night, and then more are coming during dreaming. Yet we say the mind has a natural ability to be quiet.

    How?

We will use a thought to do it. Not just any thought. A special thought called a "mantra." We will use a particular method of thinking this mantra that allows the mind to do what it can easily do if given the opportunity, settle down.

Actually, any thought can be used to meditate, as been amply demonstrated by researchers over the years. But we'd like to use a particular thought, one that has certain vibratory qualities, one that produces a certain effect in the nervous system. It is also one we can enhance as our practice advances, but more about that later.

The mantra we may begin with, can be Waheguru:

We will not be focusing on the meaning of Waheguru during meditation. No doubt it has sacred meaning. It is the sound we are interested in, not the meaning. It is the sound we will be using, within. We are after the profound vibratory quality of the sound when it is used effectively deep inside the mind and nervous system.

Perhaps these profound effects inside the human being are the reason, why this mantra has been revered for centuries.

What we will be doing, is focusing on the correct utilization of the mantra in the practice of meditation. Then we will have the best results.

Here is how we will use it:

Find a quiet, comfortable place where one can sit, preferably with back support. We want to remove unnecessary distractions. Just sit and relax somewhere where one can close the eyes for twenty minutes without interruptions.

Once we have gotten comfortable, slowly close our eyes.

We will notice thoughts, streams of thoughts. That is fine. We should just observe them, without minding them.

After about a minute, we gently introduce the thought …Waheguru… and begin to repeat it easily and effortlessly in our mind. If our mind wanders off into other thoughts, one will eventually realize this has happened.

But we should not be concerned about it. It is natural. When we realize, that we are not repeating the mantra, we gently go back to it. This is all we have to do. Easily repeat the mantra silently inside.

Waheguru´s mercy can be experienced at many levels in our mind and nervous system.

This procedure should be carried for twenty minutes, and, then, with our eyes closed, take a few minutes to rest before we get up.

This practice is to be done twice each day, before we start our day, and before begining our evening activities. It is best done before meals, as digestion can interfere with the process of meditation.

If would be desirable, if we make a commitment to ourselves to do it for a few months. Giving it some time to work.

One will be amazed at the results, and then one will want to keep going forward, to more and more of this blissful meditation.

    Waheguru.

Was listening to Giani/Bhai Paramjit Singh Ji Khalsa (Anandpur Sahib Wale) live on SikhChannel last night and must say I was really impressed with this guy's katha. His topic was naam simran. I will record it and put it up because it was a very inspiring Katha. This guy is very outspoken and was not afraid to tell the sangat off on numerous occasions.

There was one point he made which really caught my attention when he was asking the sangat to jap. Someone sitting in the sangat decided to accelerate their jaap and became engrossed in their own mast like you see on some occasions. Bhai Sahib stopped the jaap and made a very important point. He said not to jap so fast like that because your surti will not be able to latch on and keep up. He said once someone else was doing the jaap in this fashion so he asked him what stage he had achieved in the time he had been doing sirman. The person replied he hadn't achieved anything to date. Bhai Sahib gave the analogy of peddling on bike very fast but the chain is broken so in fact your not going anywhere. He said its the same with simran when done in that fashion. Your japping so fast that your speech has gone off in its own direction and your mind/surti was not focused and was left behind to do it's own thing. That is why nothing is being achieved.

Key point : Keep the simran slow so that the surti can hear each recitation clearly and stay latched on for the ride.

Since listening to this video I've been playing around with focusing in the center of my head behind the eyes and trying to do my gurmantar jaap with my dhyan there. I noticed very quickly that the sweetness is beginning to return to my mouth, actually I feel as if it about to explode on the upper side of my palette and is slowly manifesting on my tongue. Its been a while now since I last had these sweet sensations. Back then I didn't have an appreciation of it and wrote many posts with my struggle to handle such an intense taste. I have now come to learn that this internal amrit helps cleanse the naadies and helps in the progress on this path. This time will try not to get too hung up on it and just savor the experience and let it happen.

Please give me a slap on the wrist if I come back and say I can't cope with it again!

The sounds I was previously hearing which were also occurring less frequently are now also returning. Happy days!!!

Best thing you can do is to fill up all the areas in your life where you are not meditating and start meditating in those areas.
You can practice techniques described by Sat and Lucky above, and insert them in the following activities.
You can also try to experience the activity in its fullest, I will describe this below, along with some example of activities during which you could easily meditate.
    Let's start

1 you wake up - start meditation immediately
    - open your eyes, look around the room as you would if you woke up in a strange location
like an alien visiting earth, study every in the room
    - feel the bedsheets, listen to the early morning sounds
    - when you get up feel the weight of your body sitting on the bed, then feel your feet touch the floor.

    2. brushing teeth - focus on the sounds and sensations of the brush
    - the touch of water, how wet is it, how hot/cold,
    - feel the water move around in your mouth, on your hands, face

    3. washing dishes - again focus on the sensations of the water, the temperature, the flow
    - feel the dishes as you would a newborn child, touch them, what do they feel like
    - what does the soap feel like
    - how does the water look like when it hits the dish, how does it flow down the dish

    4. walking from one place of the house to another
    - bring your attention to your feet and feel the floor/carpet you walk on
    - think about the texture and the hardness
    - feel the muscles of your feet in action

    5. every now and then just take a deep breath
    - as soon as you remember this take a deep breath
    - if you waiting for someone or something, just take a deep conscious breath
    - focus on the breath as it goes in and comes out
    - if you can look out of a window, look at the sky, the trees, listen to the birds and take a deep breath

Just fill up all the space, all the routine tasks with meditation and you will see a HUGE difference in your life

If you find it easier to jap mool mantra then stick with that for now. Learn to focus on the mantar with100% focus and attention. Why the confusion? The waheguru mantra is in a very compact form and mool mantra is expanded out a little. If you just jap with you mouth and listen with your ears you will get similar benefits from both.

A mahapursh gave me a shabad to recite for a bit for some other reason. Because whilst japping the gurmantar I always focus on the sound, I did the same thing when japping this shabad. I noticed that both gave me same effect of making my mouth very sweet. From this I concluded for me personally, it wasn't so much the words, but more about the focus and stillness of the mind at that moment in time. If you mind learns to sit still and just listen without taking flights of thought the effects can be the same. Hope that helps ji. My only problem was that since I am so attached to the gurmantar for the past couple of years, I couldn't jap this shabad with the same sharda I have for the gurmantar. That was one of the primary instructions from the mahapursh. You must jap with sharda for the shabad. I felt guilty why am I stopping one and doing the other. The guilt I had for stopping the gurmantar was very overpowering and holding me back. Your own sharda will play a very important part in your jaap. If you enjoy the mool mantar then stick with that for now. Eventually you may choose to come back to gurmantar again. Don't let doubts be the cause of not japping either. I should take my own advice! lol

Hoping that Sat and family continue receiving Guru's blessings, I shall continue a little with the wonderful and inspirational thread that Sat has contributed so much to.
Sat has truly been a major core of my personal sadh sangat to inspire me to continue with more devotion.
    Waheguru

I have been doing simran very deeply at times for the last few weeks. I have had this same sensation of jap entering the heart along with some other encounters.
When it first happened, I got a little scared thinking that i had consumed too much coffee or some unknown stimulant, but then I suddenly remembered this description in this earlier post.

It all started when one early morning at amrit vela, I went into very deep silent jaap rapidly. This was helped because even before i had started and was composing myself physically, I had already made my mind quite 'steady'. This steadiness quickly induced the Anhad naad at a much clearer and louder tone than usual which prompted me to go into silent jap immediately. I then found myself in this void of bliss and completely immersed into it whilst being fully aware and lost in it, at the same time !
I should also mention that i remember thinking that my breathing and chest movements had slowed down dramatically with me taking longer breaths but with much less lung capacity at use ?

I thought to myself that this must be some level of samadhi where there were absolutely no thoughts that I was letting my mind follow. I kept going into this deep depth for a few minutes at a time and then realised that i had been doing it for nearly an hour. (it was about 3.30am now!)
Anyway, that very early morning, I was so in love with what i had experienced that I couldn't even go back to sleep for the usual couple of hours that I normally do.
It felt so familiar, as if my jeev knew all along exactly what it was and yet it seemed so new at the same time as well !
I ended up doing jaap non stop until around 7am and I thought i may be quite tired, but i was full of energy instead.

After doing this for a few days then, one morning i started to feel the presence of the anhad naad very central in my head, compared to my right side up until now.
Then at the same time when i thought that my breath would get shallow, my heart started pumping from real deep within. It seemed be in rhythm with a vibration where i could feel the naad, and all i had to do was synchronize the jap along with it just as Sat pointed out above.

This immense feeling of jap in the hirda can only be described as another sensation of spiritual ecstasy. It reminded me of that feeling of joy you get as a kid when you receive a present or toy that was the best toy you could ever wish for........(Hope you understand what i mean !)
But as a kid with a toy, this feeling lasts just a very short while, whereas this was being made continuous with the jaap.gave me

In all honesty, it gave me an even more clearer explanation of ''Sachiya sahiba kya nahin ghar tere...........vaajay shabad ganairy'

I'm not sure if Sat noticed, but because I have had these experiences just after 2.30 am or so...I find that again, I am full of energy and adrenaline.
I have gone with just 4 hours sleep most nights but i still don't experience the tiredness in the day !
It's been a good few weeks of progress for me, but i have also encountered some of the obstacles you face along the way.

I know i mentioned in an earlier post that i was finding it difficult to just listen to jaap and naad because i had been so accustomed to focusing on the trikuti.
Now, i have actually stopped worrying abut that and continue to focus on trikuti as well as jaap and naad. I find this is easier because even in my kundalini yoga, I don't think I can experience the transcendent joy of heightened spirituality without the 3rd eye focus.-It's funny because sometimes you see your instructor demonstrating and showing you something and you think it's no big deal until you actually do it as prescribed whilst focusing on your 3rd eye. There are countless times that i do this and think to myself ''wow!..that's what it was about '' !
Therefore, with my current experience, I think that i should continue this way but I am also aware that I am more susceptible to distracting obstacles of visions and what have you along the way.

I know some months back, I had some preconceived and mixed ideas of what anhad naad should be or will be once you hear them. And this was due to some of the confusing and not so straightforward references that i had come across. I hope that we can all help each other learn and develop by doing this with devotion and discussing appropriately.
All the members on here have been the best listeners where i can feel comfortable talking about my personal spiritual progress and encounters. I hope we can all continue to share and learn in this manner. Once again, a big thank you to Sat for giving me this extra inspiration and reassurance.
